Is there a problem with the last block 17489? I was connected and hashing for the whole time and it is reporting no shares for it after two hours.

Yes, there was a glitch in processing block rewards. It is fixed now.

You know, I don't see a lot of thanks going to slush for operating this pool. I just wanted to express my gratitude today. And though my miners aren't very quick, the two that I have operate more or less within expectations.

The pool uptime is more than 99.9% all days, for 2.5 years. Well, except few DDoS issues year ago. Can you be more specific about your downtimes? Logs, pings to the server at the downtime etc, so we can see hard data?

Edit: To be exact, Stratum interface was down for total 3 minutes since September 2012, regards to statistics from external monitoring service. If you are using getwork, that is another story, I don't maintain Getwork interface for pretty long time, as I announced months ago and as says huge red box on pool profile. Getwork still works, but it is flaky.

statistics page seems out of whack for me looks like 0 stratum and 7777 getwork connections

Yes, these numbers sometimes displays wrong numbers (i.e. "0"). I need to rewrite that backend stuff, but it has almost zero priority, it is just a display glitch.

As I wrote you to PM, pool blocked you because flooding traffic coming from your IP. It indicates some problems with your miner. Please update to Stratum (or use Stratum proxy) to prevent flooding the pool. stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 will work for you if you'll setup Stratum miner.

Im using BAMT and the old getwork protocol.  What would be the easiest way to get this stratum compatible?

The proxy?  I tried that when it came out, but I couldn't get it to work.  I tried to put it on a windows machine and then point all my BAMT machines to the proxy, but that didnt work.  After some more reading this morning I realize that I need to install it on each BAMT machine.  Is this the case?  Im not sure how to do that...  I found some posts saying that it doesnt work well with BAMT.

I could also try to upgrade my miner in BAMT right?  I found some instructions here, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127622.0 but that is a bit over my head.  Also, the link for the replacement mother doesnt seem to be working.

I'm guessing putting the proxy on each BAMT machine would be the easiest way out for me.  Any tips on how to do that?  I am a novice user.

I used google cache just yesterday to get the updated mother, it's just a perl script. If you can't get it that way I can probably pm it to you or something. If you just copy and paste the lines from that thread on the upgrade it'll work (or it did for me)

I've installed namecoind, created a bitcoin.conf with user and pwd, started the daemon which downloaded all blocks, then retrieved my address and entered it into the mining.bitcoin.cz account.

Is there anything else I must do to start the namecoin mining?

What is the username and password for?

Apparently slush's pool no longer supports merged mining according to "fourd00rgtz"?

See this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg1764838#msg1764838

Try this pool for stratum based merged mining: http://mmpool.bitparking.com/pool

At namecoin's current difficulty level (seen here: http://dot-bit.org/tools/nextDifficulty.php ) it is going to be a long time until you mine a namecoin block going it alone unless you have an ASIC handy.

Thanks! I still don't know what is the username/pwd I had to create in bitcoin.conf for. Where to enter it?

I would really love to see Namecoin merged mining come back soon on stratum interface. FWIW I use Namecoins to register .bit domains and there is a lot of attention and activity in the Namecoin space recently... I might have to switch to another pool. Sad

Well, probably not a DDoS, just some weird issue on server. Seems to be fixed, I'll watch it closely for some time...

Edit: I also fixed that displaying bug in "Stratum connections" on Statistics page.

I am using a bamt machine in conjunction with a separate machine running the proxy.  I have the bamt machine running two video cards.  And a windows 7 machine with none, but with the proxy running.

The bamt machine has to be pointed at the ip address of the proxy machine instead of the ip address of the pool.  And make sure the port is correct too.  That's all that matters.  You can have multiple user names all going through the same proxy.  You can have multiple bamt machines all going through the same proxy.

HIt me back if you can't make it work.  I've worked with the proxy quite a bit...
