I think I've done that, ok he may be a troll but not currently, been an admin understand the head ache but at least he answered me. I think i've been short and to the point. Very happy with slush's pool just want to understand (as best as I am able) what i'm doing and how to monitor what i'm doing. I'm ok if my final answer is "i have no freeking idea what is happening, I basically trust slush, and I'm making some extra money so all is ok." but I follow the adage to never invest in something you dont understand or at least understand how to find answers. I've read the posts and I was impressed how the last hacking incident was solved and I hope to be able to help others later on.
You know why I'm a troll? Because I came out and say there are currently problems with the pool and there is no Slush to fix them. I also helped some others users that were having problems to figure out that it is not them but pool. Now that the Slush is back he confirmed all of the problems that I was talking about. But that makes me a troll. Nobody is allowed to say there is a problem or you are a troll or an idiot according to digital and nottm28. Now I'm just waiting for Slush to confirm that stratum problem is solved so I can move miners back to the pool.

Ok I'll stay out of that I'm new here and unless you treat me like a troll I dont really care. but does it sound to you guys (all above) like I have some clue or do I sound like a babbling iddiot.  as far as not getting a reward here are the numbers when I got none for reward

Last few rounds, looks like it makes sense now just wish there was a line for my score thats all. and my hash is under 50 just dont want to admit how little it really is cause you would die laughing but like I said running this as a model and not as income generation yet.

No i'm not irritated just confused. I think I'm getting it. but I needed all the other stuff before I could even come close to understanding it. Thank you all for the help and patience. I need to rephrase numbers to words I'm a word orriented person.
I can help you with that:
score = score + exp(round_time/C)

Calculation for your reword is what you currently have added by new share multiplied by a exponentially growing number in time.

Is this OK?

reward = user score / total score * (25+transaction fees - pool fees)

You get part of 25 BTC with added transaction fees. You need to take away the pool fees(2%). What you get is your calculation for your reword in ratio to total calculation that is done the same way as your calculation for the reword.

Is this OK? If not PM and I will help you more.

EDIT:

Ok I'll stay out of that I'm new here and unless you treat me like a troll I dont really care. but does it sound to you guys (all above) like I have some clue or do I sound like a babbling iddiot.  as far as not getting a reward here are the numbers when I got none for reward

I'm saying there are no stupid questions just stupid answers... Hire none is related to NMC reword. You are getting BTC. If you did entered NMC wallet address you will get them when a block is found. Only getwork part of a Slush pool is looking for NMC and it is only 2% so they don't find them much. But when they do all pool members that have NMC address gets them.

Looks about right for the hardware you are using - yes, sounds like you are well capable of understanding - mining is a minefield when you first start. I don't blame you for starting slow while you wait for new GPU hardware so you can get the lay of the land. The thing is though, CPU's mine so slow compared to the other hardware (GPU's and now a massive uptake of ASIC's) that you will only be submitting a few shares per round. This means your earnings will fluctuate wildly. When your new kit arrives you will see more of a constant kind of earnings - but you have to keep in mind luck plays a part too - so you may see double earnings one week, half the next etc.

Read those links I posted - they helped me understand loads.

actually i'm running an older Nvida gpu and so I get lower mining rates with that but it is what I already have. I have it over clocked to the max of it's ability to remain stable and not overheat the rest of the system. I actually purchased a 5gh Asic and figure with the delivery delay I have enough time to figure out what the heck is going on. (hardware geek i understood the overclocking and the difference with the nvida part right away) then it will pay for it's self after a little while purchase another etc. dont forget the market will stabilize the prices to the point that will replace the decrease in the rewards to the point that your net gain in fiat will be consistent over time resulting in the same cash now then and before. or are there some mistakes to my logic.

Last few rounds, looks like it makes sense now just wish there was a line for my score thats all. and my hash is under 50 just dont want to admit how little it really is cause you would die laughing but like I said running this as a model and not as income generation yet.

Plenty of miners have a hashrate of ~ 35 Mhps (like you).
Ok then I'm not as inept at the hash thingy as I thought but aiming for 25-75 gh/s in next year or so.

Which reminds me organofcorti - you said you may find time for an updated blog entry - have I missed it or have you been too busy (watching day time tv - jeremy springer Smiley )
Since you are not accepting donations I would be happy to collect them for you and donate them to my favorite charity.  Grin

there has got to be a way to put this conversation into a wiki or a faq to prevent the need to go through it again for the next guy/gal

Ok then I'm not as inept at the hash thingy as I thought but aiming for 25-75 gh/s in next year or so.

Ah, you're just practicing then. Good luck!

On Slush's pool? Not yet. It's on my list, after an updated "miner hashrate distributions" post and a post on the total electricity cost of mining. Soon!

Edit: Unless I get distracted by something even more interesting. Again.  Embarrassed

actually i'm running an older Nvida gpu and so I get lower mining rates with that but it is what I already have.
Now I have a question for you. Someone tolled me that if I overclock my cards I need to increase the voltage. Even if that is not necessary for stability. You just need to or you will damaged it. Is that right? It sounds wrong to me but I'm no expert...

And if 5gh is BFL you will probably wait a long time. When did you order it? You will probably wait to the point that it will take some time to pay it self. It might even used more electricity then it will give out.

About your logic. There is over 50% of bitcoins already mined so there is no guarantee that the prices will cover cost of mining. There are people that have a lot of BTC and if they sell them the price will drop. It is always a risk. Price will get stabilized as soon as there is a big enough market that uses BTC and doesn't convert price according to $/BTC or €/BTC or something. But then again I might be wrong...

Just dont like the begging thing - the wiki thing is a good idea and has been mentioned before - I dont think anyone ever expected slush's thread to get to 431 pages...

[EDIT] someone will tell us if there's a thread with more pages than slush...

Well, if my meeting with my banks Business loan people goes well, there will be 2 x 350GH/s KnCMiner Jupiters, mining on Slush's, come October, and if they appear, 30GH/s of BFL machines (hopefully) before that, from me too.

Fingers crossed!

If you are stable, then there is no need to increase voltage.  (You might have some issues that don't cause the card to stop working completely that require more voltage however.)

It will definitely not ever do damage to run at too low voltage.  Running at too high of a voltage is where you might do physical damage to your cards.

he beat me too it, I agree. The best thing to do is to use the software that came with your card to over clock it. If it didn't come with software you are better off not overclocking it. Playing with voltage can seriously fry your system if you dont know what you are doing with it.

To pay for a BL 5gh miner will take around a month if the market price goes down to 100, 3 months if it goes under 75, those are just estimates so please no one correct me. Fact is no one should invest in bitcoins at all unless they can afford to loose every penny they put into it because it is marginally stable at best. People will always do currency conversions regardless of how much of a market there is. There is a movement to use silver as a unit of trade and people still convert silver to fiat.

Blockchain says Slush got block 237278, but his site doesn't agree? And that payout address is not right either. https://blockchain.info/tx/05250d0d298a075bc9cf7c224e2421d7387f1996d82dbef1982f36cb43acbb4e Whose is the error?
