ROI isn't an issue, it cost very little. Purchased as broke and fixed. It's a hobby as much as a money making exercise, I guess.
I like the modularity of the BFL's though I also have block errupters and Ant miners. So variety is the spice...
All running from a little Pi with minepeon at 5Watts
I am now going to pray to various gods, watch the Block rate start too shoot up Smiley

can you even get ROI on that beast anymore?

Likely but it will take the mining equipment manufacturers awhile to put their equipment prices back in line with the realities of what people are getting in return per hash at rising difficulty levels. Someone is gaining right now but it doesn't appear to be the miners. It will always be an arms race but when the price to buy arms is too high the cold war will cool and weapons manufacturers will sit idle until they lower the ratio of cost to reward.

People just need to stop overpaying for their hardware and the market forces will soon see to that. If interest in mining coin subsides then the sense of the currency having value may diminish as it could appear less desirable. This could have a cascading negative effect on the manufacturers as the price of hardware correlates to the value of the currency. So you will either have your hit and run artists making gains in the short term gold rush or you will have others that look at manufacturing as a sustainable business by offering value.

EDIT: And done! every single block confirmed, and we are heading the 15h right now. Who of you was the one talking about the 24h block? I'll go with "its all your fault!"  Grin

Make sure you also check the interrositer - you know how those things get during the transperambulation of the pseudo-cosmic anti-matter.

somebody may have asked this recently..but what is the longest block slush ever had ......so i have something to compare this too

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

I just wrote an app that will monitor the slush api and tells you when the pool finds a block.
It can optionally send push notifications to iOS/android via https://pushover.net

https://github.com/professoruss/blockfound

Let me know if you have any feedback or can find a cheaper push app (pushover is $4.99)

output looks like this:
Found new block!! Elapsed: 11:52:20 Hashrate: 879340.212GH/s

I like this idea, well done. Have installed pushover but having read the Readme, not sure how I install you api into it? Any help with?

Thanks

Comments from Slush's pool FB account
2 hours ago:

"The past 2 days have been a bit unlucky. However, we have touched 900 Th/s boundary. As we all know, this is completely fair and we will get back to our luck soon! Keep mining"

It may seem fair to Mr. Slush, but I don't like it =)

The longest block i've seen was 8 or 9 times the difficulty (in number of shares / CDF), while this one is still below 5, but the current daily luck is the lowest i remember and it will keep going down even further

I do hope we go back to normal soon, this is painful.

I'd be tempted to jumpt to somewhere else if I wasn't so close to my next payout Cheesy

Am I looking at things right?

Current round duration 16+ hours and the  Pool luck (1 day, 7 days, 30 days):  24%, 88%, 97%?

I haven't been on this pool long but that has dropped from when I started.  Sucks for me because I just started running with 5 antminers instead of the one.  I would have liked to see how they did.
