I'm having problems either understanding how to do this, or something. I just downloaded bitminter client, and it keeps saying:

probe failed: no serial ports found.
no external devices detected.

Does anyone know what to do, or what I am missing?

What mining hardware are you trying to connect?

I've been using bitminter for a few weeks with a couple of block eruptors and a blue fury.  I've noticed my client shows a hash rate around 2.8 to 2.9 ghs while in the pool stats page it shows I'm hashing at 2.1 ghs.  Why the difference in hash rate?

This appears to be a bug. I'm looking into it.

I dont know...I've been trying to figure out how to use this?

If you have a computer with an AMD graphics card, you could try on that. But it's only useful for learning how mining works. A normal computer will lose you money due to electricity costs. You need ASIC hardware to make a profit. It's way faster and more efficient.

HI!  Any thoughts on why CPU mining quit working today?  I have tried to re-start on 2 of my machines and neither shows CPU as available...

HI!  Any thoughts on why CPU mining quit working today?  I have tried to re-start on 2 of my machines and neither shows CPU as available...

CPU mining was removed (finally!) in the latest version of Bitminter client.

CPU mining has not been profitable since 2011. And other CPU miners are 10x faster than Bitminter client, which was never optimized for CPU mining. It was time to end the insanity and get rid of that.

If you insist on CPU mining you can try to find a good CPU miner. But be aware that it's not going to be profitable, it will mostly just burn electricity.

I have a LOT of boxes that sit idle 80% of the time but have very low end vids, and power is included in my hosting......Can you recommend a good cpu miner?

I think it's possible to CPU mine with bfgminer. Not sure if you need to compile your own or just use a command line switch..?

You will likely make less than one penny per day - don't waste your time or the electricity.

Yeah, seriously, take that advice. CPU mining hasn't made sense since 2011.

To put that in perspective a modern CPU with mutli cores costing a few hundred dollars was doing a couple of Mega hashes... maybe 4 or 5 max.  An ASIC costing $1-2K can already do 30, 50, 60 GIGAHASHES.

That's 4 vs. 60,000 for the math challenged.

I'm using the BitMinter tool and need some troubleshooting support.

I'm getting this error:
2013.12.04 [11:25]  Connection failed: mint.bitminter.com

I am behind a firewall (out of my control), so I chose the port 80 option in the settings.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

Hey Guys,

I'm a new miner & have 2 x AMD Raedon HD 5800 (2GB) cards.

I have setup BitMinter 1.4.3

Work Group Size: 512.

On both graphs it shows my Hashrate Mhps at 0.0.

What am I doing wrong?

Alright, maybe someone here can help me.  Trying to get my new blades up and running to the bitminter pool.  Blade Config is as follows:

IP -   192.168.1.81
Mask   - 255.255.255.0
Gateway -   192.168.1.254
WEB Port -   8000
Primary DNS - 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS -   4.4.4.4
Ports -   8332,8332
Server addresses -   192.168.1.66,192.168.1.66 (I know this is right)
user:pass - (my user name)_(my worker name):xx,(my user name)_(my worker name):xx

And the mining_proxy.exe - Shortcut has the following in the Target field:

C:\Users\xxxx\Downloads\mining_proxy.exe -o mint.bitminter.com -p 3333

It seems to connect but I just receive the following:

2013-12-04 22:02:14,421 INFO proxy client_service.handle_event # Setting new difficulty: 4
2013-12-04 22:02:14,421 INFO proxy client_service.handle_event # New job 54d9-d4 for prevhash c3b79eab, clean_jobs=True
2013-12-04 22:02:30,680 INFO proxy client_service.handle_event # New job 54da-25 for prevhash c3b79eab, clean_jobs=False

and the False's just keep coming.  Any help is much appreciated.

user:pass - (my user name)_(my worker name),(my user name)_(my worker name)

You forgot the password bit. Put any password at all, anything would be accepted.

user:pass - (my user name)_(my worker name):x,(my user name)_(my worker name):x

For instance put x as password like I did above.

On both graphs it shows my Hashrate Mhps at 0.0.

This is a bug I am trying to track down. The hashrate shows zero, but you can see you are mining because you are getting accepted proofs of work (yellow boxes). So the mining is working, but the hashrate gauges are not working.

I'm getting this error:
2013.12.04 [11:25]  Connection failed: mint.bitminter.com

I am behind a firewall (out of my control), so I chose the port 80 option in the settings.

Sounds like the firewall is being difficult. Can you connect through a proxy? Bitminter client doesn't support proxies though, so you'd have to either use one of those programs that can force a program to go through a proxy, or you could try bfgminer which has proxy support.

If you are still getting problems, just point your blades to bitminter's getwork port. Just change your server address to mint.bitminter.com and check your worker page and see if it is working.

Have some errors stopping my device randomly (and very often) (BitMinter Client)

2013.12.06 [15:24] Hawaii (#1) finished a work unit
2013.12.06 [15:24] Failed to map output buffer(code -12 = CL_MAP_FAILURE) on Hawaii (#1)
2013.12.06 [15:24] Device [Hawaii (#1)] stopped

Then the device stop and never resume. At first, I tried to restart manually, then created a schedule that restart devices every 10 minutes, but it's still doesn't effective.

Anyone have any idea how to fix that? Please?

What's the "minimum difficulty" for a worker and how do I set it to be compatible with my 650+GHs Jupiter miner?  Huh

Some help would be brilliant.
