Check out the updated version of my devcoin ticker site: http://dvcticker.bugs3.com/The title of the page updates every 10 seconds with the DVC and BTC price, there is an auto DVC calculator, and a random fact generator! A chart is coming soon.

Check out the updated version of my devcoin ticker site: http://dvcticker.bugs3.com/The title of the page updates every 10 seconds with the DVC and BTC price, there is an auto DVC calculator, and a random fact generator! A chart is coming soon. I'd love to see a DVC ticker, but the link isn't working for me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the extra zeros. Is 1 000 000 the most useful denomination for comparison with other currencies? I also had some questions about devtome rounds. I wasn't able to find the answers I was looking for doing some searches, which isn't to say it's not there, just that my search terms might not have brought it up. - When does the current round (round 30) end? - Are shares paid immediately upon the end of the round, or roughly half-way through the next round (trying to interpret this: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_stats&s[]=round&s[]=30)? - Are all writers paid at once, or is payment date dependent on when a particular writer submitted material? Thanks! As an aside, I just gotta say, this whole 'your last reply was less than 360 seconds ago' really drives me nuts. I keep losing posts, for no other reason than I typed it too fast. I'm guessing its a spam bot preventative?

Shares are paid during the next round, and can be paid at any point during the next round. Payment date is random, I believe, and individual writers are paid each block. Also, as soon as you are a "member" (15 activity) the 360 second limit will be lifted.

Odd about the ticker address. I just tried it again in a regular browser, and no-go. Ran it through Tor and it comes through fine. Might be an IP issue. The ticker is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for putting it together. Much easier than trying to pick out numbers at cryptsy or vircurex. Thanks for your answers to my other questions. I wonder how random payment might affect the value each writer gets with the fluctuating value of DVC (which seems pretty high right now).

The payment isn't as random as it seems - your shares should be spaced out relatively evenly over the 4 000 blocks (roughly 28 days). I've found it to be incredibly even: the total amount of DVC from the shares divided by the number of days (28), is approximately how many DVC you will receive per day.

Thanks for your clarifications. I think it'll probably become clearer for me as I experience this first round, but it's nice to have a better idea of what to expect.

Here's a link to a previous discussion on this (scroll down to follow the comments); just replace the block counts with 117,300 for end of round 30 and block 120,000 when it starts paying out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg2645539#msg2645539 All the related files are outputted here and they're finalised in the time between the [start pay - end round] dates: http://d.evco.in/charity/

Cool. I'm kind of piecing it together. I think once I have a firmer grasp on it, I'd like to write up a devtome page collecting all the bits and pieces people have offered through the Devcoin thread and PMs. There are some thorough devtome pages on elements that happen backstage, like the devtome page views ( http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_page_views&s[]=devtome&s[]=stats) and the devtome stats ( http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devtome_stats&s[]=devtome&s[]=stats) page, but I haven't seen a step-by-step explanation of the weighing and measuring process. If there already is one, feel free to point me to it and I'll see if there's anything I can add.

On another note, has anyone used the http://dvc4giftcards.us site lately, and can offer a review? I'd like to support DVC by buying directly with it, but there are limited options for that right now. Also, the amazon gift card site seems to take a hefty percentage (you buy a $1 gift card for $1.95, and a $10 gift card for $15.95). On an interesting note, the gift card site is another site, like smeagol's ticker, that I can only access using a Tor (or I imagine another proxy if I wasn't too lazy to go check). I am extremely suspicious of this IP...

The earnings are preliminary, because I sometimes got the error "Error 508. Resource Limit Is Reached" when running devtome. I'll run it again today, and if it works better I'll use the new run, otherwise I'll use the one below. I hope the problem will be fixed by round 31. Due to the volatile market, I've had to increase the price. I think you may have a problem with your proxy if you are having trouble accessing the site. @Unthinkingbit - on the devtome.csv file, it says I get a low multiplier for categorization. What does that mean?

I had asked the same thing. Apparently we're supposed to be adding categories to the bottom of articles (like [[Category:CATNAME]]). Damn right: http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing#style Only mentioned it about a dozen times, otherwise it means we have to actually read every article to be sure whether it's really about sociology or anthropology - and is that phenomenological anthropology or anthropological epistemology etc etc, and really slows down all the other checks. Seriously though the author is the best person to discern the subject matter and then it's just a quick skim and sort and checking.
