I often post replies to other people's questions, help them a lot but never receive merit, why? It is difficult for a bitcointalk management system to know people like us
I also like you. and I have researched my actions. I realized that I had to learn a lot more to come up with the desire. This can be considered as a roadmap for developing ourselves in this community: As a top 10 merited user I feel qualified to post this guide, this is to help new users and users who are reasonably established to level up. I am adamant the no1 cause of no merits is poor English, this is something you can change if you are struggling to get merits so if you know that this is the limitation then you need to take some steps * Improve your English language, this isnt just spelling and grammar this includes using words like Sir & Mr when I see those I imediately asume the person is a 3rd world poster * Spend the time that you currently use posting incoherent rubbish to learn proper Written English, start with youtube there has to be over 3002 different videos about writing the English Language * Read a few English books, you can download free Ebooks as a starter, look how sentences are structured common words etc. * Remember a quality post isnt necessarily a long winded post, using words that make you sound like you swallowed a thesauras doesnt help your cause Take the above advise and stop trying to level up for 3-6 months you will become a quality poster if you use some more of your free time reading the forum, this doesn't mean bounties, altcoins, speculation all the shit subs.. and only post in a few threads every week, no need to try to max out the activity now, sure you want to keep getting towards the higher numbers but its counter productive when we see high activity and 0 merit. Read technical discussion, read all of the most merited threads, understand the significance of Pizza day, the 2011 bubble, Cyprus, HODL, the fall of all the securities that some of us lost the equivalent of $Millions now. one other thing, you need to stop these bounties, I know it hurts you now financially, but seeing someone in a low end bounty for $20 just makes me asume they are a 3rd world poster and with a great initiative by BTCforJoe there is an option to help https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3055616.0 That thread is a tremendous Idea so props to OP there Now take my advise as you will, you are entitled to your opinion but I believe if you took the above actions you will be in a position to apply for the higher paying sig campaigns in 2-3 years from a newbie that's right you could be earning $300 a week from your signature if you put in effort and took some short term pain think of it as a training course to get 3x the Philippine's average family income. This will all go above thousands of users heads, but if it just helps one user to get out of poverty by bettering themselves then it was worth writing. Edit - link for English lessons https://www.duolingo.com/course/en/ar/Learn-English-OnlineAlso read the forum rules, I am not spoon feeding you the link as you need to learn to use the search button as well, once you have mastered the search function of the forum you will be able to check if your topic has been posted about before By the way, let me thank TMAN very much! I will lear more. Wish the community happy! this is actually a pretty nice advice. i think if you want to participate in signature campaign, the first thing you need to think about is the level of your English. Duolingo is actually a nice way of improving your English. but i would recommend you to find a tutor. i know one, that could help.

You're wrong. Only merit sources can generate or make merit/s up to a limited number per month. Answer to your question. If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.
Meaning every time you get merit you will also have sMerit. It is not a monthly basis system like salary.

Yes, thank you too. Nice catch for this one. I will do the same like jet cash do. Ignore list, click, done.

Weekly update is here guys. sMerit still decreasing almost 50% less in 6 weeks I think it is expected that we will experience a shortage of liquidity in the transition from communism to capitalism especially that unknown smerits got out of circulation in dormant accounts. Wait until the number of sources increases further.

Jet Merits and Talk Cash have still got sMerits to award, but where are all the good posts? Maybe I've got too many people on ignore or something.
Well there is one for coin locker, but shouldn't the merits be going to chat about Bitcoin?

Jet Talk and Cash Merits ought to swing by the altcoins\mining subforum as there is very little shitposting, and even a few threads in the altcoins\announcement subforum have some rollicking good discussions happening. See, for example, these gems (no posts are mine, btw, though one is a response to one of my posts): ETHlargement - the hashrate hardener https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3370685.0Building cheap miners : my secret https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1955358.0XMR-stak 2.4.2 Compiled with no devfee [note - the devs of xmr-stak provide instructions to do this, so not cheating/theft) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3264773.0Post #2668 in DERO [ANN] thread - one of two posts by same user which persuaded me to change my position on hard-forking. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2525508.msg35314263#msg35314263The user statt tirelessly supports TrezarCoin on a purely voluntary/unofficial basis, but the last line in the submitted post is priceless https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2140812.msg28510084#msg28510084Excellent information by user storx on automatic trading with gunbot https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2674194.msg34802638#msg34802638Etc. and so on.

Unsent Smerits decay after some time so you'd think people with Smerits would give them away. I think posts quality have improved so I wonder why the rate at which Smerits are awarded is rather decreasing. Does it mean posts are becoming rather inferior?

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are: Rank | Required activity | Required merit | Brand new | 0 | 0 | Newbie | 1 | 0 | Jr Member | 30 | 0 | Member | 60 | 10 | Full Member | 120 | 100 | Sr. Member | 240 | 250 | Hero Member | 480 | 500 | Legendary | Random in the range 775-1030 | 1000 |
You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people. Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). I will not be posting a definitive list of merit sources (so that people don't bug them too much), though you'll soon figure out who they are if you pay attention. There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though. I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by: - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc. - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line. While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with. Do not beg for merit excessively. Useful infographicsForum users have helpfully created some infographics to explain the merit system: paxmao's infographicibminer's infographic8Habits's infographicJetSet11's infographiczentdex's infographicalia_armelle's infographicIf you want to be a merit source: 1. Be a somewhat established member. 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully. 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source. I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections. Trivia:For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit. If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point. There are stats here, and you can find someone's merit summary by clicking the "merit" link on their profile. I think this merit system is a great idea to help the users read informations. And share their knowledge to other in need some answer's. I would like to be a source so i will do my best to get some merit and make a source.

If you have smerits to dish out, then don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. There are plenty of good posts out there that can be merited.. and by the way, sometimes, I give out merits to persons who post a bunch of mediocre posts, but in that case, I feel that I am giving merits to the person and for their overall contributions to the forum and not to any one post that the person made.

1) Self-Custody is a right. There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

I think posts quality have improved so I wonder why the rate at which Smerits are awarded is rather decreasing. Does it mean posts are becoming rather inferior? Show the source of your information about smerits decaying. It is not true. It says right on the merits' page of each user that smerits might decay in the future, which clearly suggests that smerits do not currently decay.

Jet Merits and Talk Cash have still got sMerits to award, but where are all the good posts? Whenever I go to Beginners & Help, I usually end up getting someone banned. I'm not even looking for someone to get banned, and yet, they're much easier to find than a Newbie with good posts.

This is hard to say, only the numbers are certain. The quality of the posts are relative to the person who reads them. For example ( even if it is not true) looking at the numbers that are continuously decreasing I would like to say: no it is decreasing since we have less and less sMerit. This is a 3d related to the merits and since I love the statistics I like to share my hobby and even if You do not believe it for someone it's interesting! The point is the following: let's see when the airdropped sMerit will end so we can see if the generated sMerit from sources is enough or not for the system.
