I wanted Lewis to win for the sake of a good story line but Gane was just too good for him. I'm glad I didn't bet on this one because of my personal bias Grin Now, waiting for Ngannou vs. Gane as I'm pretty sure that's what everyone wants to see now. Jones vs. Gane or Jones vs. Miocic would be exciting to see as well.

What do you think of Aldo's performance? I thought he rolled back the years.

I couldn't see any significant hit by Derrick, you only see the frustration on his face when he can't takedown Gane and then gave up. The leg kicks are just too much for Derrick to bear and then he got tired quickly. Very smart of Gane to run away when Derrick is about to launch, It is funny but running must be the best option there.
Gane might still not be enough to fight Ngannou. Francis is just too much of a beast.

However, the best storyline is Cyril Gane winner. Francis Ngannou and him were teammates before Ngannou left the team. Ngannou also blamed their coach after his loss in his first fight versus Stipe Miocic.

In any case, did everyone see Gane after the fight and after receiving the belt? Gane appears to love his coach like a father. Francis Ngannou must be training already hehehehe. This will be a fight for honor.

Well, he doesn't want to end up like Curtis and his strategy worked out for him. It could be boring but nothing wrong with sticking to strategies to get the W.

Gane might still not be enough to fight Ngannou. Francis is just too much of a beast.
Ngannou probably has the same gas tank as Lewis. Not fully engaging in the first two rounds and just tire him out could still work against him.

Yeah that would be a good rivalry to build on and which the UFC can milk Grin

I just wanted Lewis' UFC journey to end up in a belt even if it's interim. I think this is the closest he could get and probably his best/only chance. I didn't expect him to be in this position to be honest.

If I had any doubts before about Cyril Gane than I don't have them anymore and he now fully deserved to fight for heavyweight belt with Francis Ngannou.
It is not easy to defeat Lewis with such KO style but he did it and France have new interim champion!
Ngannou sent him a message: See you soon boy, and Dana White confirmed this is perfect script for Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane.

It was a great game plan by Ciryl Gane and it is a perfect match up against Francis Ngannou as the former coach of Francis Ngannou is the present coach of Ciryl Gane and what kind of game plan he will be using against him as they will be knowing his weakness and how Ngannou will be countering them..

Surprising performance was from Jose Aldo as i had no idea what kind of performance to expect from him but he clearly won the fight against Pedro Munhoz and the leg kicks of Aldo was paying dividends later on in the fight.

LOL TopTort777 You really think the Bon Gamin could become tired before Derrick Lewis?  Cheesy You're kidding us, aren't you? Did you compare the shape of Cyril Gane and the one of Derrick Lewis? One could run a marathon, the other hardly 5000m obviously...
I think the exact opposite actually, Gane will defend and control during the 2 first rounds and in the middle of the third round he will accelerate and attack Lewis.

As expected the Bon Gamin followed the more logical game plan available like a good schoolboy and easily finished an exhausted "fat beast" in the middle of the 3rd round. I really appreciated how he steadily remained cautious, fleeing like a coward several times, despite all the audience against him.  Grin Dan Miragliotta has been very professional and he didn't let the exhausted beast catch his breath after having drop his mouthguard during the final assault of Gane.

What a great performance for Cyril Gane he surely delivers a dominating performance and what I like about it was Cyril Gane's Job controlling Lewis from the distance, and pinpointing Derrick Lewis eye, hurting Derrick Lewis, perfect performance for the Bon Gaming, Delivering an Elbow and uppercut that really stun Lewis to backup, and I think Cyril Gane really has the power to hurt Lewis, even though he didn't show this in Volkov's fight I was really amazing in what I have witnessed, and Derrick Lewis is not really catching up I could really see a skill gap between Derrick Lewis and Cyril Gane, and that Running away, is part of Gane's plan, just like what the Style Bender was doing, That When in doubt he is surely Running away, I really think this is not an act of cowardness but using his speed over Lewis.

since no one posted the full results, here it is.

well, the results make sense in the end. Finally, an HW fight were the clearly better fighter one, and it wasn't a one-punch KO that ended it all. Sad for Lewis tho, he's a character, but he just doesn't have the chops for winning the title. Not yet anyway.

It seems that Ciryl came to fight last night and for sure he did as Lewis was only on his back foot , guarding and changing stances. Even if I back up Lewis , a fighter like him should not get a main event like this where he barely trow 1 punch per round. This is now what people expected to see but I'm glad we saw Ciryl in a great shape , doing whatever he wanted in that octagon and punched Lewis from all direction ...this takes a lot of native skills besides hard work.

^  He was def outclassed.  Lewis threw just 37 significant strikes for the whole match.  At R1 11, R2 10 and R3 36.

You guys can see the stats here:  http://www.ufcstats.com/fight-details/bf732e22055e8634

But what did we really expect.  The better fighter won.

Oh and this card is a total disaster for me.  Most of my picke were wrong.  Rofl.

My pick was Cyril Gane and I am saying this always in my recent post even when he is fighting Volkov, that I am Cyril Gane all the way, that will never change even with a Francis Ngannou fight, Well actually I am shocked not with Cyril Gane's winning over Lewis but with Gane's performance he really outdid my expectation on what he can do inside the ring, I am saying that he may win via Decision or a submission, but I didn't expect a TKO/KO win over Derrick Lewis, I have said that comparing the fight with Alexander Volkov fight that Cyril Gane doesn't have power with his strikes, but it is proven wrong on this fight he really outdid my expectation, so you guys better ride the Gane's Hype because I am seeing Cyril Gane will surely win with a Francis Ngannou match.

from what i see is that Gane leg kicks really messed up Derrick Lewis strategy . and his team not really giving a good advice for the upcoming rounds ( R2 and R3 - still passive defence without any 'breakthrough' ) and Derrick just tanking all the leg kicks and ended it the match for him .

Good win for Gane and 3X Payout , thanks to Stake promo

its what made his crippled inside the cage and eventually just knelt. his gas tank just ain't enough to last and he either can't  chase Gane. there are times that Gane actually face Derrik, if Derrik just hit a single punch tables could turn. i was waiting for it to happen, just on big hit from derrik at least.  unfortunately Gane can move faster.

Lewis always seems like he's on his back foot, and like he hasn't come in to fight. I think it's just his style. But so far he was able to prevail (more or less) with that. But regarding throwing few punches, I mean, it's HW, things like that happen all the time. Sure, some are bangers like Travis Browne and Arlovski but some go down like Big Country Roy Nelson.

Frankly, I was wrong about Lewis and expected more from him. Or perhaps I was only waiting for that one right killer punch from black beast.
Now lets wait for Gane Ngannou fight. I wonder how long do we need wait for that. Strange that Jones did not start to bark? He could test himself with Gane, if he wants to be a hw champ.

I am saying that he may win via Decision or a submission, but I didn't expect a TKO/KO win over Derrick Lewis, I have said that comparing the fight with Alexander Volkov fight that Cyril Gane doesn't have power with his strikes,
Even if he doesn't have the Ngannou power, he's still a heavyweight. An exhausted Lewis taking many punches, kicks, and knees from a fresher Gane would pretty much end in a submission or a TKO. Gane simply decided to rain punches on him to end the fight.

~

Lewis always seems like he's on his back foot, and like he hasn't come in to fight. I think it's just his style. But so far he was able to prevail (more or less) with that.
Yeah it's been his style to wait and let opponents come near him. It's like a bait. He knows he could end the fight with one punch but Gane knows that all too well.

There are many that anticipated for Lewis to deliver that one shot KO on Gane, but the skill level is just too high for Derrick Lewis, right now the more visible advantage of Cyril Gane was his speed, you can see that Cyril Gane might be running away from Lewis, but I think this is just a defense mechanism, and when Lewis is fainting, Gane might be thinking that Derrick Lewis is going for that 1 hit KO, Cyril Gane is just cautious but is thinking while executing something against Lewis, I was really glad for the result I never thought that Gane could TKO/KO the black beast, I am really doubting his power, but after seeing this fight I think he is really ready for a Francis Ngannou fight,

And Speaking of Jon Jones, if he would test himself with Gane, I can say to Jon Jones is in his dreams to beat Cyril Gane, in that Bon Gaming performance VS The Black Beast I think he is way ahead with Skills and technique.

Even if he doesn't have the Ngannou power, he's still a heavyweight. An exhausted Lewis taking many punches, kicks, and knees from a fresher Gane would pretty much end in a submission or a TKO. Gane simply decided to rain punches on him to end the fight.

Well, now I can say that Cyril Gane really has that punching power that he needed, that very fast jab was keeping Lewis the distance and pressuring him in the corner, we can see that Lewis's eye was really hurt from Gane's jabs, and that good combination, of heavy punches, and elbow have really secure that win.

Like, I understand that Lewis doesn't throw much volume normally anyway, however what was that on the weekend? He threw like a couple of shots, and looked like he had ran a marathon. I'm not taking anything from Cyril Gane though, fully deserved, and now I've got to stand up, and actually take notice of him. I've always thought he might be a little over hyped, but he's proved me wrong yet again. I do still think Ngannou would make easy work of him in their current climate. I think he would do better to have a couple more fights to build his resume.

^  Lewis was outclassed.  Cyril Gane is just too good.  I wasn’t really that convinced at first cos he doesn’t have that much professional fights.  But man, the guy is a talent.

And here’s the post fight press conference.  Check out the arms on Dana.  Lolol.

My opinion is a little bias on Cyril Gane, I know our last conversation was about the hype of Cyril Gane and you are doubting the hype people are giving to the Bon Gaming if I could remember it correctly, but that was Cyril Gane VS Alexander Volkov match, I am really satisfied with the Cyril Gane performance back then but apparently I am doubting Gane's power if he could really make a TKO/KO wins because that massive punch he gave to Volkov was just brush off by Volkov, and it feels like he never had any power at all, but the Derrick Lewis fight was extremely remarkable, I was really shocked that Cyril Gane can TKO Lewis, that he never did with Volkov, But respect to what you have said and let's see if what may happen with the Francis Ngannou fight.

I like what have Dana White said over Cyril Gane, That He is a Big Powerful Badass HeavyWeight that moves like a middleweight and completely Shut down Derrick Lewis, and that word was on Dana's account, so preferably I really think that Cyril Gane is really ready to face, Francis Ngannou.

And I think he really deserves it, and he is really ready for a Francis Ngannou fight,
