Just in, Jorge Masvidal VS Leon Edwards fight on UFC 269 was scrapped because of an undisclosed Injury on Jorge Masvidal, and right now Leon Edwards has responded on Twitter saying

Quote
“Disappointed but honestly, I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway,” Edwards wrote on Twitter. “He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, Kamaru Usman, I will see you soon.”

right now UFC don't know if the fight will still continue or the UFC will rebook another date for their fight, but right now Khamzat Chimaev is bringing the pace and asking for a fight to give him an urgent fight, well I don't know if Khamzat Chimaev can fill that space that Jorge Masvidal had left, and if I remember correctly on January 20, 2021, this fight should happen, but unfortunately, Covid got Khamzat Chimaev and had a long break, but I think this is the big break for Khamzat Chimaev if he wants to pursue the Kamaru Usman fight, and be champion, but this could only happen if Leon Edwards would allow it, and if he responds to this shift of fighter I will sure give my respect to Leon Edwards for changing fighter from a pure striking Masvidal to a grappler that is Chimaev,

I say what do you guys think, in my opinion, this could get Chimaev the push to the top if he can beat Leon Edwards.

Yeah, all respect to the guy for wanting to be in that cage despite late cancellations. Although, I can't see Leon beating Khamzat Chimaev. It's the age old match up of a striker vs a grappler, and Chimaev has proven in his fights that he is the superior grappler against other grapplers. I don't see Leon getting out of the first round, let alone the entire fight.

Think it's a bad match up for Leon. Whenever there's a wrestler/grappler vs a striker it's usually the striker that gets out punched. I'm seen numerous examples of this, and it's usually because the striker is concentrating on not getting taken down, that he doesn't let his hands flow. I think this will be another example of this sort of fight.

Again, massive respect if Leon takes the fight, and it would be a real statement if he managed to get the win. Though, I know where I'll be putting my money, however I do doubt that the odds will be very good on Chimaev's side.

In before Edwards announces that he also has an injury from training..  Lmao.  And can’t disclose the injury and why.  Cheesy  The dude was rocked by Nte Diaz...

And that’s how it is in the UFC.  Top ranked guys tend to avoid a rising prospects.  It happened to Rafael Fiziev for a time at 155.

Yeah, I don't expect them to fight. I think Leon will pull out due to some sort of illness or injury if it was to be made. It just doesn't make any sense for him to fight one of the best up, and coming prospects which beating him would obviously look good, but it wouldn't get him any closer to a title fight. I would think that Leon would prefer someone higher up, and him so he can get closer to a title challenge rather than fighting someone who is probably expected by most people to at least challenge for the title in the future.

And that’s how it is in the UFC.  Top ranked guys tend to avoid a rising prospects.  It happened to Rafael Fiziev for a time at 155.
I at least find it better in the UFC, than boxing. Boxing is terrible for feeding people cans, and then avoiding the bigger fights. Generally, we get a big fight every month or so in the UFC.

I think that Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards fight will re-scheduled. The card looks good without them. Adding Chimaev against Edwards will make the event cooler, but if I was Dana, I would have saved that ace (Chimaev) for another event.

Btw, professional boxing "super star" Jake Paul is opening his mouth on Chimaev Cheesy Do you think Jake is trying to seduce new UFC star (or milking cow) with money ? I know Chimaev is hungry for the fight, but I think his next opponent will be someone so-so from the top. Neil Magny or Michael Chiesa can be thrown on Chimaev. At least he deserves to be on their places in top.

Both Magney or Chiesa are doable fights for Chimaev, and Edwards Masvidal has been brewing for so long, I doubt they would scrap it just like that. As for Paul, he's just probing wherever ha can to see what sticks. That's it. Not much comes of most of his talk, I kinda think he already has opponents in mind and he's just playing an additional game.

I doubt that the hype will not be on Chimaev's side, there are rumors spreading that the one they want Khamzat Chimaev to fight is non-other than Kamaru Usman, and that is why they are pushing this fight, and even though Khamzat has already fought last already Oct. 31 the dude just wants to be inside the ring, and what I see in my vision on what may happen inside the ring, regarding Chimaev's Grappling style is his Wrestling is not like the ordinary, I can say it has a level like the Dagestan wrestling style but Khamzat Chimaev has incredible strength in controlling his opponent while on hold, and his wrestling has a combo in it that is why Leon Edwards shouldn't underestimate it.

Well I really want a Leon Edwards VS Khamzat Chimaev fight real bad, and actually, I really want to see another Chimaev hold and pressure, if this is not going to happen I think it is going to wait and Khamzat Chimaev will need to wait for his turn to shine, but Maybe Leon Edwards would not allow Chimaev to fight him and go with re-scheduling the Masvidal fight but if this fight goes on I will surely respect Leon Edwards and in saying Jorge Masvidal as a fraud but he is also doing the same thing is really shameless.

Just read that Leon Edwards was promised a title fight after victory over Jorge Masvidal, as well as a solid pay cheque. Leon is on a good series of victories.

I think Leon will refuse any fight except against Masvidal, who, according to what Dana White said, we be back no sooner than January 2022. He will wait, because he dont want to lose an opportunity to get a title fight. Masvidal is the biggest star in top10 and fight against other will bring him a lesser cheque. Fighting against Chimaev (who agreed to fight on a short notice) might cause him loosing, meaning the dream of becoming UFC champ flies away.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is talking a lot more after he became coach and he just told Justin Gaethje to shut up and admit that Islam Makhachev deserves UFC title shot.
This came after Gaethje won his fight with Michael Chandler in recently finished UFC 268, and he gave few interviews asking for this.
Lightweight division is very interesting now with Charles Oliveira as champion, followed by Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev.
Top five looks very strong and it's crazy to see that Tony Ferguson and McGregor are all bellow than in every way.

And he shouldn't accept anything else. The Edwards-Masvidal narrative has been in the works for a while now, and even tho the enthusiasm has gone down a bit and would be significantly less than Covington-Masvidal, it's still a good storyline to capitalize on. This could be spun in an exciting main event fight. ANd I think he gets less out of a Chimaev fight and the risk is grater, than from the Masvidal fight.

I think Khamzat Chimaev will have to wait and just needs to crawl his way up and I think Leon Edwards is aware of how much danger he can have against Khamzat Chimaev and I really think it is not wrong to avoid it, Leon Edwards is pretty much near a title match, but I guess Chimaev will need to show his eagerness to fight in a title match.

It is sure up to Leon Edwards if he would accept to fight Chimaev or re-schedule his fight with Masvidal and he is not wrong to be afraid, and I certainly say I will respect him if he accepts a dangerous Chimaev, but I still respect his decision, but not as much to a certain level to support him, because I surely support Khamzat Chimaev here, and he needs to surely gain the status the hard way around to certainly have a title match.

And he shouldn't accept anything else.

From a manager point of view, he should not accept any other opponent, if he was promised a title fight if he wins Masvidal. He has trained to fight against Masvidal, and fighting against others might cause him lose. A loss can cross his dream of becoming a champion. From a professional fighter point of view, a pause in career is always bad.

I am starting to feel somehow negative to Jorge Masvidal. He was an average fighter to me. His 5sec knockout of Ben Askren made Masvidal star. After that, it was a close fight against Diaz, and two losses to Usman. Since mid 2019, Masvidal havent achieved nothing big, or won a strong opponent. He barely fights. Fighter that fights once a year, call everyone weak in his division, and managed to get injured in a month before fight. Really a "great" fighter.

This s proof that UFC has double standards. Chimaev will have to prove to get a title fight. 10-0 is not enough. I agree that Leon Edwards should be first for a title fight. And take a look on Michael Chandler. First fight in UFC (not in MMA), and already a title fight against Oliveira. Dont you think is it unfair ? Smiley

In this Chimaev, Edwards, Masvidal or welterweight situation lets not forget that Usmas already had 3 title defenses this year. Usman needs to have a rest. I would predict that a next title fight in welterweight will be no sooner than in second half of 2022.

^  Yup true.  I can’t watch a whole event from bottom to top..  So boring.  And boxing is a mess with all the different organizations which really makes it hard to follow.  But I do watch some of it from time to time.

Anyway weigh ins are live in a couple of hours.

I believe Leon has like 4+ fights cancelled in the last couple of years.

I only watch the bigger fights in boxing, and I never watch the full card. Whereas, UFC I'll be itching to watch the first fight of the night on the prelims. I find in boxing I'm attracted to certain personalities (Tyson Fury) whereas in UFC I just enjoy watching any old fight. Obviously, I have my favourites, but it doesn't matter too much to me who's fighting necessarily

After he retired from fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov continues his rant against other MMA fighters, now he calls Tony Ferguson saying that he didn't won a single round in three years.
I am not used to seeing Khabib like this talking so much, being active on social media and commenting everything, he is much more invested as a coach than as a fighter.

I agree that boxing is a mess but kickboxing is even worse and I think that kickboxers have smallest paychecks compared to all other combat sports.
When you have boxing champions like Tyson Fury in heavyweight category fight must be very interesting to watch.

Leon Edwards is a really unlucky individual, he deserved to be fighting for the belt long back and the pandemic also delayed his options to fight for the belt. Leon Edwards is on a nine fight winning streak in a difficult weight division and he is undefeated after his loss to Kamaru Usman back in 2015 and i hope the UFC gives him the title shot rather than feeding him to Khamzat Chimaev.

He barely fights.

yup, I have the same sentiment towards him. I'd argue that a second fight with Usman was super unnecessary and the made up BMF belt was just a laugh. I'd say he is still a solid fighter but kinda talked himself into bigger fights than he should have.

Yeah, it's annoying to see to be honest. Also, I know Islam Magomedov is his friend, but he continues to try, and belittle other fighters while trying to hype up his guy. Islam is good, however I'm not entirely convinced he's the real deal once he comes across the top guys in the division. Only time will tell, but I'm not a fan of the attitude from Khabib. I grew to love him because he was the quiet one, and strcikly business. He's getting closer, and closer to Mcgregor everyday. I know that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I liked his whole persona of doing his talking inside the cage.

I agree that boxing is a mess but kickboxing is even worse and I think that kickboxers have smallest paychecks compared to all other combat sports.

I'll be honest I haven't managed to watch a kickboxing event for quite some time now so couldn't possibly comment on it. Though, I can't remember it being that bad, and didn't think it was worse than boxing.

The heavyweight division is only entertaining because of 5-6 fighters. Some of them aren't even that great, they just love to swang, and bang which makes entertaining fights. Think Chisora, and Whyte. Other than that, Ruiz recently due to his upset, and humble attitude, and then it's the three headed dragon as Fury put it; Joshua, Fury, Wilder. Outside of that, it's rather poor. I mean Uysk is a relatively new addition to the mix, but I don't see him standing up to Wilder or Fury.

As much as the fans are against Dana, I think he might be one of the better ones. At least, with the UFC it's highly competitive, and we get better odds because of that. Plus, big fights actually happen.

There is that, the returning Chimaev would surely need to prove himself but On UFC Fight Night: Chiesa VS Magny there should be a Leon Edwards VS Khamzat Chimaev fight but it was canceled due to Chimaev testing positive to covid-19 I think the UFC really wants that fight badly but sad to say Covid happen and if not for Covid-19 Chimaev should have fought Jorge Masvidal instead of Leon Edwards, here is the proof of their canceled fight.

I really think he's been like this since the Conor McGregor Bus incident, and now that he is just coaching he's been firing any post in social media, but I hope he can return back to the octagon at a certain point in time.

Actually, they really want to feed him to Khamzat Chimaev, and in my opinion, the UFC wants a Kamaru Usman VS Khamzat Chimaev to fight more than a Kamaru Usman VS Leon Edwards fight, this is what I think that is why they keep pushing Khamzat in the higher spot after returning, and in addition, Khamzat Chimaev is pushing to really fight even though he had fought last two weeks ago, he really has the eagerness to go beyond.
