If they are running this league without profit then I don't think it will last longer since they are business people who aim for profit, and in addition we also have to consider that teams are paying millions of pesos for the salary of the players and the staff so it's not worthy if they will not get profit in return for their business. Maybe we will only see the PBA in one conference if Covid-19 still stays, it might be halted again.
P65 million in just two months, i think they can afford they one considering that this is the only time that they will do a bubble and also i think we have a better scenario next year in terms of COVID transmission plus the vaccination of people then things would be back to normal. It's very good that they are doing this bubble at this time of the year because it somehow show the Filipino people a glimpse of hope and also be entertain in the comfort of their own home as we are an avid fans of this sport. PBA chairman Vargas reveals Clark bubble will cost league around P65 million
Was there really an assurance that we will be free from covid in the coming months? The vaccine has not be release yet, I think no country yet has already invented a working and proven vaccine against the covid-19 so it's hard to expect that everything will be back to normal after this conference. P65 million is easy as they have budget now but for another conference with the same set up, I doubt they will resume. No assurance that we will be COVID free next year mate but the sure thing is that things would improve and people can learn to live with it if ever it still exist but if we will based our speculation on history, the 1918 FLU pandemic lasted only two years and the vaccine was developed more than ten years after. With the complex technologies that we have at the moment, this COVID-19 pandemic would be over in less than two years IMHO. I am also hoping for that, I already missed the time when everything was just normal, games are played and we can even watch in live in the arena. Now, everything is also digital and entertainment can only be seen in TV, it's even a good news that the PBA has the initiative for their own bubble. Meanwhile, we have some fresh news. Sonny Thoss retires from PBA after 15 seasons with AlaskaSONNY Thoss formally retired in the PBA, ending a colorful 15-year career entirely spent with the Alaska franchise.
Team board of governor and manager Richard Bachmann confirmed the retirement of the 38-year-old Thoss on Sunday.
Thoss' contract with the Aces expired last August and opted to retire amid the uncertainty brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"His contract expired and decided to retire," said Bachmann in a text message to SPIN.ph. THE BOSS HAS RETIRED!

He has accomplished a lot in the PBA, Sonny Thoss can still contribute to the team but he chooses to retire, anyway, 38 years old is not a bad age to retire. Maybe the pandemic has really change the minds of some veterans, the last news was about Jimmy Alapag leaving the Philippines for US, now Thoss retired from being a pro.
Good luck to him after PBA, hopefully he can still find a job like a coaching job.

Most of the time they are being offered to help, after playing the game they still have options whether to continue serving the team or live their life privately. Sonny Thoss provide good days to this team and if possible he can contribute if Alaska choose to hire him for some coaching position. Or, he can be part of training staff giving good glimpse from how the system works for the big men like him.

But I think he will not, he will be still there supporting the league and supporting he's past team mates on their practices and sometimes on their game. He could be a coach, but he's not limited to be a coach in Alaska Aces, he could be a coach on other team also. Sonny Thoss was a great PBA player, hope he's sure of what he has done.

And it's best for them to retire right now if they are really planning to do so. He's already at the age where he can really enjoy his life. Maybe he felt that the league will really take some time to be back. But I hope he has the best time of his life after this retirement. He's a successful PBA player, and he doesn't need to prove anything. I hope there's a proper retirement event for him after all of this, he has done so much for Alaska. I hope all athlete would not leave their sports with just a retirement news.

Here are the sanctions when a player or staff went outside the bubble:
- One-month denied salary - Php 100,000 fine - 5 games suspension - Can't return to bubble
What do you think guys? Is it considered as "heavy sanctions"?

Because of the pandemic, some players now are concerned to every money they will receive so with that sanctions, I think that is already heavy. 1 month no salary plus Php 100,000 fine is a pain in the ass for every player. And to add for that, they won't be allowed to return in the bubble which basically means, salary deduction.

That's how they want the players to be discipline, they want the bubble to succeed as they have invested a lot of money for the expenses. I think no one would violate that because that's a lot of money to be paid plus some corresponding sanction. In a country where people are not so discipline, we need a strong policy to force them to follow and the organization has come up with a good one. Good luck to the violators!

I considered those sanctions as heavy. If the PBA wants to add more, then much better. Players should understand that PBA is doing this to prevent any worst-case scenario inside the bubble. Just having a 1 suspected case will affect all people inside the bubble that might result in suspending the season for good.

Good news the have several days for further preparation regarding on ensuring the safety protocols of the players and other people who will be part of the bubble. But for sure they have studied all the scenario and will have an counteraction if something bad happen but lets not focus on those things for now and think positively that bubble will became successful and no bad case will occur.

Yes, the moment we are waiting for, Now PBA is back. This is a good news to all PBA fans. We should consider this as achievement for PBA organizers in making a way to start the PBA sports. At least after the NBA we can still enjoy to watch basketball game and its been some time also PBA being halted and now the sports has officially announced to start. Really a good news to hear this announcement.
Anyway, I hope that betting locally will then also start as I am itching to bet with my favorite team.

Another exciting basketball games to watch. I can't wait to see how teams and each players prepared for this season and how well they will do inside the court in this times of pandemic. NBA season will end later, but goodnews that PBA will be back soon. I hope PBA as a whole and their team managers will take care properly on their respective teams and players. It's always good to watch PBA, Ang Pambansang Liga ng Pilipinas!

Lots of news involving the PBA these days and this one is one of the good news that i think is worth sharing specially to the fans of Phoenix and Calvin Abueva. I just saw this on my social media news feed and i can't verify if this is true but the way things are shaping i think Calvin Abueva will play on the first game of Phoenix on the PBA resumption, i just hope that he is a changed man by now.

That's probably one of the biggest news if this is legit. Wow, Calvin finally playing with the PBA, after more than a year I guess, and he will be playing under a new coach, so hopefully this news is real and will bring back the old Phoenix team, can't wait to see it honestly, it's ALL FILIPINO CUP, this is what makes the conference exiting at its return. Not good, NLEX surely will miss his contribution, he is one of the best 3 point shooters in the PBA, he can help the struggling NLEX when PBA resume. Hopefully that's okay with the team, people nowadays really does not want to risk, and he made his choice, same with the NBA, some players opt out in the bubble.

Of course, he is needed as they only have limited 3 pointers in the team, they also have Philip Paniamogan, I don't know who among the players are good shooters too but their Star Ravena, I don't see him consistent in 3 points. Also, Larry Fonacier might retire soon as he is already 38 years old, he only playing with limited minutes.

They still have Alas,Baguio and Cruz so provably they can fill the slot of fonacier in his absence. Honestly I'm not Impressed with the play of Ravena even in international games as well in Pba since he dribble to much and seems he always want to take the shoot even if his struggling.

Should not be a problem, at least. Although no doubt as one of the key players of NLEX, Larry Fonacier is already not performing well during the 2018-19 season so I think NLEX should now be used to it. He is more than a veteran giving advice now to his teammates rather than an all-around player way back his prime. They are one of the teams in the league that does have the most guards/forwards on their roster so Coach Yeng surely has a strategy to fill the hole of Fonacier's absence this season.
