1761  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You Learn More from Losses than from Wins on: January 13, 2023, 05:41:47 PM
Goldkingcoiner's Trading Tip of the Day:

The less you look at your portfolio, the less susceptible to FOMO you become

Do not look at your ROI, your portfolio or even think about how much money you have made/lost off the current pump.

Do not trade with the current pumps or dumps being your only motivation to trade. We all know what damage catching the falling knife can do. We also know that we will definitely miss out on profit if we attempt to sell on every prediction of tiny up or down movements during a pump.

1762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would someone send 4 BTC to Satoshi (Genesis block) on: January 13, 2023, 05:07:32 PM
Just wondering why someone would send 4BTC to the Genesis block which is over $75K.

Here is the transaction
https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/6805b175260c47549995c3ff19c3c51596651c26269e9f1b31c243986433a0b7

I understand many want to send a small amount so they can get a piece of history on the block chain but sending over $75K which is pretty much a burn address since most likely it will never get spent is kind of crazy.

Why do you think they did this?

Bored rich people playing games to get attention and yet remain anonymous? I do not know. If I had billions of dollars I would send everyone on Bitcointalk a nice number of Bitcoin.

It is possible that they messed up and were trying to actually send the 0.00525500BTC amount to that address which is about 90 bucks but they set that amount to the change and the change (4BTC) to Genesis address which already contains 22.57BTC!

P.S. coins sent there are not burnt though, Satoshi may some day decide to spend them Wink

If Satoshi is even alive still. ... Undecided

That is a bit of a horrible thought, is it not? Satoshi dies without anyone ever knowing who he was in the end.

I made 181,000 bets, so I can exclude to add up the result of 181,000 bets manually.

Unfortunately, based on the law of large numbers your sample seize should be at least 100,000 bets.

Remember, there is almost no deviation only after 1 million attempts.

Yes, I also decided that too, which is why I said this method will only give you an imprecise number. You would need more data for a precise result. But you could write code which scrapes the website's data and spits out the calculation as you gamble.

It is not worth doing. I agree that such a built in function on the website itself would be worth it.

How can I check my experienced house edge at Stake in-house Black Jack?

I would love to know the answer to this particular question as well. I have noticed not many casinos are all that detailled when it comes to showing players their statistics. Maybe the reason is that the casinos do not want the players to be discouraged by numbers? Perhaps encouraged would be just was wrong since the player would complain with his statistics as his arguing point.

I do the math myself. House edge is a simple formula. The house's return divided by the initial bet X 100. You get a percentage of the house edge as a result of that formula.

But it would be more helpful if we could see that somewhere without having to calculate it. Just saying.

Do you calculate your experienced house edge with manually adding up the result of each bet?

Yes, but a smaller sample size should give you an adequate (but imprecise number). It will take manual calculating labor, yes. But you could just type in the numbers on an excel sheet and have them calculated automatically. Not sure if there is an export function on the online casino gambling website but you can always copy paste into the calculation sheet the numbers you need.

A small sample size is at least 10 bets, I would say. But if you wanted a precise number you could go to 100 (or even 10000, if you wanted it really precise- But that seems to be unnecessary for most purposes).

You will need to add up all the percentages and divide them by the amount of bets. That will give you the average. In the case of 10 bets you add the percentages together and divide by 10.

Be careful that you do this calculation separately for each game. Other games may have different house edges.

1766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is it becoming a thread for casinos refusing paying very huge winnings? on: January 12, 2023, 08:28:31 PM
I am starting to think that casinos mostly are not able to pay such winnings so they sometimes stall for time, or offer something else in return for relinquishing your winnings and your rights to sue the owners of said casino as well (most people tend not to think about that. Once you say yes to their offer, the winnings are lost forever).

People need to stand up and stay tough. No compromises. The best advice anyone can give you is to consult a lawyer who can at least give you a chance to get a much bigger reward, in the end. A lot of people are scared of lawyers and their fees. If you live in a first world country then you can afford lawyer fees or they will be provided to you as a social loan. Interest-free, of course.

In the end, you will get your winnings. (unless you broke casino rules. Like cheating)
1767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN ADOPTION THROUGH SOCIAL VALUE, THANKS SATOSHI (SN) and Duelbits(Hhampuz) on: January 12, 2023, 07:40:38 PM
Amazing work, OP!

You are truly a human of higher mind. I hope everyone on this forum will take notice of this and allow themselves the courage to become an amazing human being, like you.

And of course, once again, Bitcoin has gone straight to the hands of the needy. Unlike with dirty old fiat, which would have gotten lost in the pockets of corrupt politicians, lobbyists and other man-made devils or blocked by ridiculous sanctions in the first place. Long live Bitcoin!

I would love to hear more about your future plans! I think everyone on Bitcointalk would also say the same. Perhaps we can even find volunteer helpers and donators.
1768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I sell motorbikes to buy bitcoins on: January 12, 2023, 07:33:02 PM
I have 2 motorbikes at home, but what I always use is only 1 motorbike, and 1 motorbike is rarely used, and indeed the motorbike is also old, and if it is sold it won't be too expensive, and I decided to sell the motorbike, because in my opinion the price of the motorbike will definitely fall over time,
(affected by inflation). and the money from the sale of the motorbike I will use to buy bitcoin. because in my opinion the price of bitcoin in the future will definitely rise. and also currently the market is bear, so this is a good opportunity to buy bitcoins. and I want to ask everyone, the decision I made, namely selling the motorbike and the money to buy bitcoin, is it wrong or not?

I'm ready to be corrected because I have no experience in bitcoin and crypto.

You need to be prepared for two things:

First: Bitcoin price will reach levels at which you will think to yourself: Its too scary not to sell because the price might change for the worse. This is your brain setting you a trap. Do not fall for it.

Second: You need to be prepared to make this a long term investment. Flip Flopping back and forth between Bitcoin and Fiat will only grind you down on fees until nothing is left of your money.

We might see 5k tomorrow or 50k. Do not panic sell.

Enjoy the ride. Bitcoin is always the right choice!
1769  Economy / Gambling / Re: MegaPari | Gambling&Betting | Deposit in Crypto! | Claim your bonus here 💸💸💸 on: January 12, 2023, 06:13:40 PM
I can finally say they verified my account, after 9 days of waiting and sending a lot of photos. Glad it's over.

I am guessing that they either want to be extremely careful or they do not yet have a large team to cover the verification requests of their customers. I know casinos are very sensitive when it comes to adhering to the regulation framework which keep changing and changing every year or so. So them being this careful might be a good sign. I would rather have a slower but serious casino than a fast but sloppy gambling platform. Especially since you are entrusting a third party to carry your money for you.

I do not like the KYC process although I am more of a fan of convenience and laziness.
1770  Economy / Gambling / Re: 💥🔥Fairspin.io🔥💥 | Blockchain Casino to Play🤩 & Earn🤑 on: January 12, 2023, 05:54:41 PM
We received a newsletter from Fairspin that the player managed to win 60BTC ($1,021,186.89) in the Book of Fallen slot from Pragmatic Play the bet was 0.6BTC the coefficient was x100 and a link to a youtube video, if this is really the case, then we can congratulate the winner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwmb6A_noEo

Wow, that is quite the win! Although we should take any kind of such videos with a grain of salt since they can easily be faked for the views. I would not be surprised if it was. But maybe that person was already rich enough as it is. Who else makes half a Bitcoin bets other than the rich.

Or it could be real. Fairspin themselves should confirm or deny the video.

If the video is real and he really won over a million dollars from a half Bitcoin bet, I do wonder how much has he lost before winning that one bet? I mean if he bets 9k daily then he may just have made the money back which he lost...
1771  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: January 11, 2023, 10:53:38 PM

I agree with goldkingcoiner, this isn't some liberal issue where you want freedom of being hacked if you are not careful type of deal, that can't be done, it's just not normal and shouldn't be the issue. I believe that we shouldn't be given that option and 2FA should be forced to players so that it would be safe, otherwise you are just being horrible about the situation.

I agree that not having the freedom to do whatever you want is upsetting for some people, but this is there to protect you and if it's a good intention thing then you should be able to understand why it was done. It's not much work neither, setting it up takes maybe 1 minute max, and it takes extra 15 seconds to login.

While it would be better that sites would enforce 2FA, I don't think that any site will do it. To be honest, I only implemented 2FA after I read some stories here on this forum who got hacked and lost a lot money but sometimes people don't realize the danger.

Would it not be more prudent to demand 2FA? All it is is a minor inconvenience and 15 seconds longer (at most, if you are slow moving) log in times. Are we really going to equate that to a breach of your freedom? It does not even come close!

Lets use your logic against you to make my point a bit more clearer:

If an exchange or casino website demands you must make an account password with letters, numbers and special characters, is that considered a breach of your freedom? Its really the same comparable inconvenience.

So I am 100% pro 2FA.  I think everyone else should be too. It has no downsides.

Are tehy calling Hal Finney a Faketoshi?

This is pathetic... he never claimed to be Satoshi.

Wow. Absolutely no respect for the dead. I bet they did not even research this man.

They needed to make a list for their shit article so they decided to pad the story with some home-made BS. If they made a real list the only name on it would be Craig Wright.

Katrina Bookman was playing the slots at the Resorts World Casino in Jamaica, Queens when she secured what would have been the largest slot machine jackpot in US history - $42,949,672 (£35.4m). She took a selfie with the machine to mark the moment, and later said her whole body went 'numb' when she saw the life-changing figure. Bookman was told to come back the next day to discuss her winnings, but when she asked an employee what she'd be walking away with, he responded: "You didn't win nothing." The New York State Gaming Commission said Bookman’s machine had malfunctioned, and that she'd actually won just $2.25 (£1.86).The machine had a disclaimer stating 'malfunctions void all pays and plays', and as a result the commission said that they were required by law to give Bookman only what she'd actually won.

Some Casinos are just plain fraudulent. So this woman visited a casino, play slot and won $43million. She took a selfie with the amount displayed on the machine. The casino saw it and told her to return the next day so they could talk about the winnings. Next day she returned. Story changed. She was told the machine had malfunctioned and therefore it was what was responsible for the winnings. They went ahead to offer her a complimentary steak dinner. I got so livid reading this story.

Isn't this just the stupidest reason not to give her her winnings?
Couldn't they have known that their so-called machine was faulty before letting gamblers use it?
How could they do this to her?

I have been hearing about this all day today. The poor woman does not deserve such a roller coaster of emotion. Even if she did not win the money she should still sue and get money for having been put through that ordeal by a faulty machine, which the mentioned casino has a duty of responsibility for. Their machine, their responsibility.

By the same thought: Can the casinos claim that winnings are undeserved when a human shuffles the cards the wrong way at the blackjack table? just because he was distracted or intoxicated?

Although by that very same thought, should she not get to keep the winnings? Whether it was faulty or not has to be proven. They cannot make claims without evidence. So where exactly is the evidence?

I would vote that she keeps the winnings.

Looks like Bitcoin is back on the menu, boys!

Mmm.. Bitcoin chocolate.

Being on the menu does not sound good.

It sounds scary.

We humans sacrifice lives because the menu needs to taste good. So every menu with meat is basically "being on the menu", both literally and conceptually for the animal. Now that's scary.

But it is all a matter of perspective. What's normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.

1775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Oh boy, I've got wallet.dat on: January 11, 2023, 12:14:02 AM
The coins are still there. I guess I can try some dates

I would start with
2009-01-09 (Bitcoin's first transaction date)
2016-05-05 (the date that wallet got funded at)

Make sure you do tests offline, or if you are knowledgeable enough, on a live OS, still offline. Hacks are really a thing and 10BTC is an overly good looking amount.
Make sure you know how your father was writing the dates (mm/dd/yyyy. dd.mm.yyyy, yyyy-mm-dd or other ways)
Beware of people that may offer you help in private, some may be scammers.
Good luck.

He could just brute-force the password with a simple few lines of script. I mean there are only so many days since Bitcoin has come into existence. If you try out them all eventually you will get it. I do not think that will even take him all night. Unless he does not know how to automate the process in which case he can still spend a couple of days trying out every date.

I mean its been 5548 days so thats what, a bit over 15 and a half hours? 2 days full-time and done. Boom, $174k. Or like 2 minutes if you automate the task...

Hopefully its not his fathers cryptic way of remembering an arbitrary date which has nothing to do with Bitcoin. Although, even if that would take you longer, it would still be perfectly do-able.

1777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be banned or stopped by governments on: January 10, 2023, 05:21:30 PM
How many times has India banned crypto now? Is anyone counting?

There are two countries who are perpetually banning and rebanning Bitcoin as well as all crypto. China and India. And has that worked? No. Even North Korea with their 25 mill population cannot stop Bitcoin. No matter how hard they try, neither can the (supposedly) most powerful country in the world- United States of America.

So what chance does India have? Especially with their population size and lack of dictatorial government?

Nobody can stop you from mining Bitcoin. Nobody can stop you from sending it to other wallets.

1778  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: January 10, 2023, 04:58:29 PM
I think it should be mandatory for everyone who wants to gamble. Everytime you give people a choice whether or not they wish to implement and use a security feature, most people would rather choose the more comfortable and convenient way to gamble. Without additional security steps.

And when their lack of security eventually becomes a problem and they find out that they have lost a lot of money to some hacker, they suddenly become all uppity and start blaming the casino for not forcing protection on them or not protecting them enough.

Which of course is complete BS.
Enforcing mandatory KYC is a bad decision which is why almost all sites provide that choice to their users to provide complete freedom in this matter to them. Most users don't use 2FA for various reasons.

If they lose money to hackers, the casino is 100% at fault despite not using 2FA since their security system was weak and penetrable. Blaming victims for not using 2FA in this case is utter nonsense.

2FA is just an optional security measure and isn't the primary security measure of the site.

KYC and 2FA are two things that have nothing to do with each other. KYC is when the customer gives the platform (in this specific example, a crypto-exchange or crypto casino) his/her details and provides evidence in the form of government ID and other official documents that he/she are who he/she says they are.

While 2FA is not KYC but it is a security function which, for example,  requires you to log in with extra verification (E-Mail or Google Authentication for example).

So the only way a hacker who has access to your account password can gain access is by confirming it with another security measure (2FA). This makes your log ins much more secure.
1779  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How pessimistic do you feel about the new year of 2023 ? on: January 10, 2023, 03:23:44 PM
2022 is an extraordinary year. Because of this, we have infinite expectations for the upcoming 2023. The haze of war dissipates with the new year. Global economic growth next year will lack momentum, but inflationary pressures will drop a lot.

I think there is a lot that we can expect in 2023. Seeing as the world news kept escalating from year to year the last few years. First covid, then war and now what, aliens? Personally I hope so.

But there has always been unjust wars being fought every year somewhere in the world. Why is the world concentrating on Russia so much? I think because its the only country with nukes to do what other, smaller dictatorships have been doing conventionally. It just seems like it is a bigger threat this time.

But most likely the news is going to find something negative to shine the spotlight on in 2023.  Negative news is always the most read news.

Good news for the Sportsbet partner: each time Gooners met Citizens in FA Cup for the past 100 years, they went on to win the final!

Cue SB specials... hint nudge Wink
Interesting fact, unfortunately heavily influenced by the fact Arsenal was much better team troughout the history. Last couple of years it was the other way around but I don't remember if they played then.

Great game, and I am expecting some mouth watering football in it.

By the way Saka got injured in their last cup game. He walked off the pitch so hopefully nothing serious.

I would not really say that much. He did not really walk off the pitch as much as hobble off slowly. Good thing it was already in the 75th minute of the match and his injury did not cause Arsenal to lose the game. Areta said he was fine when he was questioned in the press interview after the game. Although if I am wrong (which I really hope that I am not), then I just hope they can close the deal with Mudryk as soon as possible (if they have not done so already).

Saka is a pro, though. It will take more than a small injury to keep him out.
