2101  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023 to the forum on: December 26, 2022, 09:33:24 AM
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! It should've been an ordinary day for me but my brothers and my father went here to spend their Christmas and the coming New Year. Hopefully, the wars will stop and the world economy will bounce back stronger than ever. I am also looking forward to our community growing bigger and will lead in spreading bitcoin awareness around the world. The year 2023 will be the pre-halving year which means a lot. Next year will serve as the runway.
2102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you intend to tell loved ones about the bear market? on: December 26, 2022, 09:03:29 AM
My father spent his Christmas with me and my brothers. He did talk to me about the world market going down. He invested some into our local stock market. So there was no talk about bitcoin and its price which is down too. But if ever someone asked me about it then I can simply tell them about the bad news something that is also happening in the world market. Our local stock market is more fucked up than bitcoin right now which is why I am considering transferring some part of them to bitcoin since I feel more confident of it bouncing back, especially in the coming halving. I am honestly losing hope in our local stock market so even bitcoin at its lowest stage after its ATH is still better.
2103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco on: December 26, 2022, 08:39:57 AM
Looking at the last fight of Loma, I think he is not in his prime anymore. The early 30s to mid-30s are the most common for most boxers to lose their primes. I believe Haney will be the stronger and faster guy and he will win against this version of Loma. As a huge fan of Loma since the start of his pro career, I hate to see him lose. Maybe Haney cannot make the weight and just move up. Cheesy

Time flies so fast. I remember when Lomachenko first came to America with his manager and IIRC his dad and Usyk were there too, in order to entertain the best offers they could get in their forthcoming professional debuts. Lomachenko was so ambitious but very cool. He wants his first professional fight to be a world title fight right away. He does not want to waste his years on tune-ups against nobodies. He wants to turn pro with a legacy to achieve. Now he is on the sunset of his career but he built a hell of a legacy. Second fastest to become a world champion in only his 3rd fight and if I am right he is also the fastest to become a 3-division champion in 12 fights. I don't know if he holds the record as the fastest to become a 2 division champion, he made it in 7 but maybe a Japanese is holding this record.
2104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 25, 2022, 10:49:37 AM
Meanwhile, western teams are once again nearing to match the best win-loss record of the east. Generally, the current standings are still close with only 1 to 2 wins and losses that set them apart from the next rank. This might be one of the most competitive regular seasons in the NBA.
Western Conference is in a competitive season right now.
Last time New Orleans Pelicans gained the top spot then there came the Memphis Grizzlies.
Now they are tied with the Denver Nuggets which we didn't expect when Murray and MPJ were still in injury without a timeline about their return.
Phoenix Suns are trying to be on the same spot with Booker on and off and Clippers gaining more wins with Kawhi and PG13 healthy.
West is going to be filled with star-studded teams.
Lakers on the other hand might have a tight spot to squeeze a playoff spot. If ever it happens, it will be a new environment for Lebron.

Yes, the top spot in the western conference has been changed always this season. At the start, it was the Utah Jazz, and then came the Portland Trail Blazers, and so on. Although I am loving this kind of trend since it shows the high level of competition, deep inside I am always rooting for Miami, Utah, and Houston as well. It seems like Jalen Green is having a hard time establishing himself as a leader but at least he is now silent compared to his first year when he constantly tried to trash-talk the first pick.

Until there are changes in the Lakers roster, I am not giving them a serious chance of landing the 8th spot, although I am not taking it away the chance to secure a playoff spot thru the play-ins.
2105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 25, 2022, 09:44:58 AM
I think UFC will never pay millions or same rewards as there are in boxing. How often does a boxing promotion has an event? 1 or 2 per year? How many UFC events we have ? Nearly every week. Paying huge reward to someone means paying huge rewards to others also. Otherwise they will start a strike. If UFC really pays everyone multiple times more than they do now, imagine how much PPV or event tickets would cost. Will you be ready to pay 500 bucks to watch 4-8 fight on a TV ?

There are a lot of boxing events every year and it's more than the UFC. The UFC is just like a single promoter but its value is probably bigger than all the top boxing promotions combined because it keeps a huge portion of its revenues. There are probably more than 30 people in boxing that are paid millions of dollars per fight. More events means more revenues too. TV deals are more than enough to cover events like Fight Nights while PPVs are extra money that networks usually earn from zero to little. Boxing PPVs are designed to pay the superstars which can take up to 90% of their revenues, so it is not for promoters and TV networks as the main beneficiaries. There's a reason why Bob Arum of Top Rank and the various tv networks do not like staging PPVs in general since they are risky if in case the buys are not enough to cover the guaranteed purse. On the other side, the UFC is the main beneficiary of its PPV events dictating the terms on how its stars can take a share except probably for Connor McGregor who learned a lot from Mayweather.
2106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde on: December 25, 2022, 08:54:04 AM
So Anthony Yarde is getting pointers and advice from the legendary multiple-champion Oleksandyr Usyk. We will see if Yarde will be able to utilize it. I watched all the 3 amateur fights between Usyk and Beterbiev a long time ago where the former has a 2-1 standing. Iirc they were all close fights and Usyk was hurt several times including getting knocked down once or twice. So Usyk may not be the perfect guy to solve the Beterbiev puzzle but at least he was able to give the heavy bomber some problems with his superior movements. But can Yarde emulate the lateral movements of Usyk or is he capable of moving for a full 12-round fight?

Yarde Says Usyk Gave Him Advice Ahead of Beterbiev Showdown
2107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: December 24, 2022, 10:55:35 AM
Yeah, there could be dates and venue reserved by the promotions, but probably looking for the best place to held this fight. A venue that has a lot of Mexicans as we all know that David Benavidez is Mexican to maximized his exposure and profit as well.

And we will see once the full fight is announced and the date and the venue itself. But it will not change a bit that David will be the favorite here. And I can't wait till the two goes on a face off as there will be a lot of trash talking between the two.

Without a specific date and venue means the deal is not yet 100% sealed. Maybe they're just talking that they already agree with each other or maybe they signed partial contracts which is a good guarantee but not 100%. A venue in Phoenix, Arizona, for instance, the hometown of Benavidez is a good location but I doubt Plant will agree to it. Plant is the one dictating the terms because he knew that Benavidez wanted the big names in the division while he got paid already for his losing effort against Canelo.

Benavidez's power will be too much in this fight but he better stays alert on further Plant demands because it might cost him. A bigger ring means Plant can run and utilize his movements more and if he can also demand the brand of gloves and maybe suggest the list of referees and who knows even the location. A referee that allows Plant to hold and grab is dangerous since Benavidez is not defensively good and he is not used to fighting 12 rounds either which endangers his energy.
2108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: December 24, 2022, 10:40:52 AM
This fight is not happening in early March. Tyson Fury I believe is a Christian devout and he will celebrate Christmas and the New Year with a bang. This means we need at least 3 months excluding the days of negotiations. I believe serious talks will only resume after the New Year as well. If an agreement, especially the major details are sealed in early January then we will expect this unification to happen in April. This fight is going to be huge no matter the location. I prefer a neutral venue though to be fair with Usyk. Middle East countries are most likely the ones with better offers unless Bob Arum will try to bring this fight to the US.

Do you think Fury (if he wins against Chisora) will be unable to ready to fight Usyk in March 2023? It will be the biggest pay day of his life and it will be an opportunity to make history by joining an elite few by unifying the belts.

Most championship-level fighters can only fight a maximum of 3 times a year. 4 fights are possible only when they stopped their previous opponents easily in the early rounds without receiving damages in return.

Usyk just fought last August 20 against AJ for 12 full rounds. Let's say a month of full rest and relaxation while at the same time negotiating a Fury fight. Usyk then needs another 3 months from light training up to the full training camp. Tyson Fury knows his December dates bluffs aren't feasible unless Usyk is willing to give more advantage to the WBC champion.

Usyk called Fury scared upon knowing that Fury pushes thru a December fight with a different opponent. Because it hampers the realistic proposed date which is the first quarter of next year. Although Fury cherry-picked an unranked Derek Chisora, I bet he will be needing time to heal his body if his opponent can manage to win at least 5 rounds in the judges' scorecards.

Smiley

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays sa inyong lahat mga kabayan!

2111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 23, 2022, 06:49:46 PM
If I am not wrong with the record that I have seen online I think the Philippines is currently just Holding 1 belt, and that is non-other than Quadro Alas John Riel Casimero holding the WBO World Bantamweight Title that is why he badly needed a fight as long as he can still fight inside the ring, for me that Naoya Inoue fight is a risk for John Riel Casimero for now, I think he needs to get easy title fights for him to surely solidify him having multiple title belts,
<...>

Yes, in fact, this is true and the Philippines does not have a representative of their country in the rank of the holder of the boxing champion belt here you can see the current list of current world champions as of December 2022 https://champinon.info/

It was supposed to be Casimero who still hold a belt, unfortunately, because of his carelessness, he lose his belt via disqualification. Last time I remember, Nietes and Magsayo both losses their belt before Casimero losses his, so for now, we have no boxer that is currently a champion. No boxer in the PH that has an achievement close to Pacman, sorry to say that, but that's the reality.

The Philippines has zero world champions at the moment since Nonito Donaire, Johnreil Casimero, Rene Mark Cuarto and Mark Magsayo lost their belts this year. But there are title fights coming up for Filipinos and hopefully, upsets happen. I agree with Oasisman's statement earlier saying the lack of support is a huge factor. Many prospects are forced to travel to opponents' backyards and lost to questionable hometown decisions.

Champinon.info is new to me. And looking at their list, the Philippines has a world champion, Dave Apolinario. Unfortunately, the IBO belt is not a major belt. Many times the IBO has popular champions like GGG and Usyk because they just award their belts in order to promote their organization.

Back to Bulls drama as LaVine wants to leave as quick as possible and tensions on the Bulls squad are heating up very fast in the last 3 days and I do hope the management will find a way to make the players focusing on play-offs and let the drama out of the court when they play basketball but it will be hard as fans are not happy at all. Sad
He wants to be a Laker. But what does the Lakers have to offer for the trade with the Bulls? Nothing. Trade AD? That's suicide. If they do so, then it's just trading both players who are injury prone. I'd rather stick with AD who proved he can win games when he is healthy.

I also do not see AD getting traded, he is actually the most important Laker at the moment when healthy. It could be that the Chicago Bulls will be in rebuilding mode if LaVine is out. So the Bulls can receive Westbrook but of course, the remaining future first-round draft picks of the Lakers will be included, something the Lakers are reluctant to give up this year. But maybe the Lakers are willing to give up its future first-round draft picks for the caliber of LaVine. And the star is only 27-year-old which guarantees the Lakers a minimum of 2 superstars once Lebron is done. But all of these can only be possible if the Bulls agree to rebuild.
2113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 23, 2022, 05:54:12 PM
Eagle FC, and various other promotions are growing quite nicely, but that's just because mixed martial arts in general is gaining popularity. None of these promotions are currently competing with the UFC in terms of growth or popularity though. UFC almost has a Monopoly based on viewings. I guess you could probably say they do have the Monopoly.
I don't think so.
Fighters have more options nowadays and they are more aware that Dana White and UFC are exploiting them more than in any other professional sport.
When compared with NBA, NFL and other professional sports organizations UFC is taking much larger piece of cake and they live scraps to fighters.
There is no future when you have policy like that in capitalism.

In terms of MMA viewership, I believe the UFC has so much edge and the following organizations like Bellator are not even close. So the UFC is close to being a monopoly. Purse sharing is an issue that can be taken advantage of by other organizations but only if they are also capable of offering better figures. Current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou still has no contract yet and is a free agent for nearly a year now. This could be a sign that the other MMA organizations do not have the financial capability to steal him away from the UFC. Although there is also the scenario that Ngannou is making himself unavailable as he still hopes for a Fury boxing exhibition that will pay him millions of dollars. I would love to see Francis getting paid big but knowing Fury's new career plans, it seems like the UFC champion might be forced to accept the best offer available right now which is likely coming from the UFC.
2114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: December 23, 2022, 05:22:10 PM
I don't know whether this fight will happen or not. Recently there was a spat between Terence Crawford and Keith Thurman, in which the former accused the latter of running away from the fights. Anyway, before this, Thurman had announced that his opponent would be either Spence or Crawford. Since the Thurman vs Crawford fight can be ruled out for now, the only possibility is for a Spence vs Thurman fight. Also, Crawford scored a victory over David Avanesyan a few days back and is even more confident. So Thurman has reasons to avoid Crawford.

Yes, I also think that this fight may not happen. I do not know if Crawford still has trust left in PBC after he wasted nearly a year just to make a unification fight with Spence. Making another deal might be difficult since Thurman is with PBC and Showtime too.

I saw a lot of social media posts showing pictures of both Crawford and Ennis. It seems like they were backed by PBC in order to mislead the public that Crawford vs Ennis is the fight that needs to happen. But in reality, Ennis should be the IBF mandatory of Spence. Hence, it should be Spence and not Crawford. And besides, Ennis is also with PBC which makes sense for Spence.
2115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [POLL] Will BNB crash? Will Binance go bankrupt? on: December 23, 2022, 05:02:31 PM
I think this is some kind of a FUD. Partners and friends of the scammer Bankman-Fried are probably trying their best to drag down Binance as well. CZ already saw what happened on LUNA and FTX earlier so he will be extra meticulous. Although I believe that Binance also used its depositor's funds but it is not as big as FTX. Binance after the incidents is making sure to do its best in restoring clients' deposits.

2117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: December 21, 2022, 04:02:57 PM
Maybe it is the first time that a winner will be given to a person who only uses a pseudonym and remains anonymous. But is the Nobel award still prestigious these days? Maybe the other categories like science? I think the Nobel is now influenced by politics. Sweden a neutral in the previous 2 world wards is joining NATO. Not saying it is a bad decision for them.

Anyways, I think the real Satoshi Nakamoto is already dead. Hopefully, I am wrong and the person is living a good life and will remain anonymous forever or at least for a hundred years.
I think it was Hal Finney as well, and unfortunately he passed away and unless he left any proof that he was Satoshi, we can't ever know about it and it's gone, he probably ordered his items to be destroyed properly and that means we will never learn who he was. On the other hand what kind of Nobel could he win?

There are two possibilities, either economics or peace one and I am not entirely sure they would give him the peace one, he didn't do anything to bring peace to anywhere, well to be fair Obama didn't neither, he ordered killings of so many people and yet they still gave it to him, but at the very least Satoshi doesn't get it. Economy in that case? But are we sure if this was a Nobel type of invention? Or was it more like a product type of invention? That's he question we need to figure out.

The guy is a genius. Pretty sure everything that may connect or provide hints were destroyed. There would be no evidence left behind as he understands well that bitcoin being decentralized will fare better when its founder remains unknown.

Nobel is missing something in their awards, technology. Peace is really impossible. It will fall into the economy category, although even at the current stage, bitcoin is not yet at the level wherein it influences certain nations' economies. If El Salvador somehow continues to buy at dips and then one day a single bitcoin reaches a million dollars in price, the bitcoin founder will qualify for the Nobel nominations. Anyways, posthumous is not possible for the Nobel.
2118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: December 21, 2022, 03:01:58 PM
I'm not aware that Errol Spence Jr. was involved again in a car accident.

Although not that worst compare to the 1st car accident he got involved with that almost cost his life.

With that being said, he said in a statement that he might delay his return to the ring probably in April, May, or June:
https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/errol-spence-to-delay-his-return-to-the-ring-due-to-car-accident/256006

He was the victim this time, and as per conversation several pages back, he is complaining about his leg, feeling pain but his coach says that he is ok by now.

In any case, that is still perfect if his opponent in Keith Thurman although the article says nothing as who is Spence going to face next but we have hints that it could be One time next for him.

Still a lot of time for Keith to prepare as well in this fight, so still very good for him and see if he can still get back some title himself as he used to be a champion in 147 lbs until Spence and Crawford moves up to this division.

The situation clearly shows the corruption of WBC. First, they removed Vergil Ortiz at number 1 and replaced him with the returning Keith Thurman. Second, they mandate a Thurman-Spence fight without a fixed deadline. It should've been like a 30-day notice for both camps to reach a deal or a purse bid with another fixed date happens. Spence should've decided by now to defend his belts or to vacate them. Corrupt WBC is clearly not doing anything to put some pressure on the situation.

I hope Crawford is moving on for the possible unification with Spence. Next year Bud is turning 36, he is out of time. He better spends the rest of his career trying to become a 4 division champion, something Spence will never achieve.
2119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 21, 2022, 02:08:14 PM
Dallas Mavericks, for instance, I don't think they won't be able to play in the playoffs.

We can have a better preview of what teams might enter the playoffs once the All-Star break commences. It's roughly about over a month and a half to go and team standings might show big changes, especially in the Western Conference where the competition is really tough.

Referring to the Dallas Mavericks specifically, there are games where I am really upset about their performance but still, I believed they will able to enter the playoffs. Although I'm expecting them to compete in a play-in tournament.
I thought that the acquisition of Christian Wood will make the Mavericks better than last season, but I guess I was wrong.

The Mavericks are better last season because their offense was distributed. They have more options to score. Now, most of the points are coming from Luka. I watched a video on Youtube yesterday and it shows that when Luka is off the court, they are -12 on points. Just look at how much points Luka is putting per game. 32 PPG and this just shows that he is doing most of the offense. Wood and Dinwiddie who are we expecting to help him only averages at around 16 and 17PPG.

Without an all-star beside Luka, he will never win a title. That's how NBA is right now. In order for a team to win, you need to have at least 2 all star player on the team. You expect them to be in the play-in tournament. I believe they might make a roster change or make some trades this season, and maybe that might change the tempo of the team. I expect them to be at the 5-8th spot. Slightly higher than your prediction.

Same here. I also thought bringing Christian Wood would fill the much-needed points by the Mavs. Wood showed potential in Houston and many fans are also expecting him to become the new Porzingis. Although I am still not giving up on him.

Personally, I do not like Kemba Walker as well. The guy is a veteran but the Mavs need someone that experienced in important games like the playoffs. The Mavs should make an aggressive move before the trade deadline. The Utah Jazz for example has good players available since the team is just busy collecting top first-round drafts and is also eyeing on the Wembanyama lottery.

But big news like the bankruptcy of FTX is probably the best and most reliable indicator.

Funny you here. What do you really mean ? So which direction are you expecting the price to go from your analysis of the FTX exchange scam? Yes investors expected that price will drop but yet we are not seeing that happen so far. So what is your analytical expectations of FTX scam from what you see and your prediction from it buddy?  Grin

Yes, it is funny because it seems someone was not able to comprehend my message. Big news isn't a technical trading indicator but it can drive the market crazy and will always destroy TAs.

Are you even following the market mate? Have you not seen the market reaction when discrepancies were found on FTX and Alameda? And when CZ declined the buyout? Even the current market situation is still under a kind of domino effect with exchanges in the hot seats including Binance the largest crypto exchange.
