2121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Whatsminer M20 is announced and available for pre-order on: March 15, 2019, 01:44:29 PM
I was checking out Pangolin to see when more M10's would be available and to my surprise they had the M20 listed. This miner is only listed on Pangolinminer.com, nothing on the manufacturer website either. Most notably these miners are using 12nm chip size and are available for pre-order Shipping before May 20,2019.

The specs has 2 models:

48TH/S (+-5%) @ 2300W (+-10%)   for $1450 USD             Or                     58TH/S (+-5%)   @ 3300W (+- 10%)   for 1500 USD

I must say the numbers look great especially the 48TH model. I am kind of surprised they aren't mentioned on any other sites.
2122  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Opinion on starting new farm on: March 15, 2019, 12:37:28 AM
Yeah I looked up the rates for commercial to see. Looks like general service large exceeding 100kv. I've never had the demand charge to deal  with but I guess that comes down to what he actually loads into the mine. That's also CAD.

2123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Opinion on starting new farm on: March 15, 2019, 12:11:16 AM
Definitely keep us up to date, but I've been wondering what's your endgame on this? Are you planning on long term, or just want to get setup with cheap hash and run until it's no longer profitable?

I ask because at the moment there are significantly more efficient machines available, and you still need to assemble and tie in your site. This gives you plenty of time to wait on gear that is a month or so away on pre-order. Most of this equipment is a very fair price at the moment, and will carry value for the foreseeable future, unlike the s9's. You could even look at doing some older s9's and some of the current generation of miners.
2124  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ScottOfford.com ~ I buy & sell new and used ASIC miners ~ Milwaukee SEO LLC on: March 14, 2019, 10:22:46 PM
see your accoutn is new so u accept escrow ?

Your account is 1 month older than his, and I dare say November 2017 isn't really Newbie territory. Scott has been more active in the mining section in a sales rep. type role for a couple of hardware companies.

Scott - To help with your sales through the forum, you may want to update the OP with your acceptable payment methods. Generally when dealing here people will want to use a "Trusted Forum Escrow" or something that offers buyer/seller protection. Also you may want to create a [ANN] thread in Services for your business, and then create a sales post for something particular; with a reference link to your [ANN] and other offerings.

You may or may not find this useful.

2125  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Which are some good instant exchange that does not require login? on: March 14, 2019, 07:21:54 PM
I haven't used them so not sure if you need to log in at all but it didn't appear so from the tutorial video.

I did see this not to long ago, here's a link to the thread here on the forum.
FreeBitcoins.com/swap

This was posted on the currency exchange board, I think you would have found what you were looking for posting there or service discussion. Good luck.
2126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: March 14, 2019, 06:42:56 PM
Glad you liked it. That's weird for them to take so long to reply. If it were me I would try calling their 1-800 number to see if you can reach somebody. Did you also start a ticket with Canaan? Doesn't hurt to try all avenues.

I can dig around as well, depending on which PMU I may have a spare around. It would have been left over replacement parts from when I did that video. If things don't work out with your tickets, I could ship that one out to you. My 841 is working fine at the moment, and is nearing being taken offline.

Good Luck
2127  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Make a system for newbies to pay a fee for creating a sales thread. on: March 14, 2019, 05:59:24 PM
The fact that there are currently some low ranked members who are active and a net positive to the marketplace makes this idea overly restrictive. I used to think the same way more inline with rank specific restriction, but have changed my view on that. Anyone should be able to come here and use the marketplace, who are we to decide whether or not that's the right way to get involved in the forum. The fee would place a barrier that no one else has to pay twhen using the forum for other reasons.

Perhaps the Marketplace just needs an overall restriction on these features. The overwhelming majority of sales threads do not use self-moderation, or constant locking/unlocking. I'm personally unfamiliar with the "Auto Buy Urls's" so I don't know what if any positive they bring.

Personally I would impose these restrictions to the Marketplace.

1) Once locked a topic cannot be unlocked -There are not a lot of reasons to repetitively lock and unlock a topic, except to maintain a stranglehold on the sales message.

2) Remove self-moderation as an option -If someone is trolling or off-topic they can be reported.

In regards to Auto-Buy URL's are these directing people to a business site to purchase items? Is there any benefit to these?

If not could we not ban the use of them in the same way referral links are not allowed.
2128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: March 14, 2019, 01:13:54 PM
Thanks for clearing that up Phil. It's even better that these came from a source you currently deal with. Looking forward to hearing the power draw, just for curiosity sake. The price doesn't even come close to making sense for me at the moment. I'll see what everything is priced at the end of the month and likely grab another M10, barring a deal I can't pass up.

Credit where it is due, if these power draw numbers come in on spec, this is well built unit.
2129  Other / Meta / Re: Candidate for Ban appeal on: March 13, 2019, 10:44:47 PM
I'll give this 1 final bump, as I'm unsure if a response will be given when the decision is made either way.

I will assume that if any action is taken it will be seen on the profile page - displaying the Signature Ban time frame.

As was pointed out in this other ban appeal thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5114253.msg50115181#msg50115181

2130  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Change The Moderator of Beginners & Help on: March 13, 2019, 09:25:54 PM
I would say a good step for that board - before appointing a new MOD - would be to define it's purpose.

I like going through there from time to time, it's a decent place to lend a hand. Often you can find users who genuinely want to learn or need help and found the beginners board. Unfortunately it's such a smorgasbord of ideas and clashing motives behind each topic.

Looking at pinned topics it was great place to start, ask a basic questions, learn how to use the forum, then move onto the different boards to further develop. I wasn't around when/if it was ever a clear starting point to getting involved in the cryptosphere, but I feel like it needs to go back to the basics. It would be great if this board was used to help people understand where to post or the best place for a question if it is above and beyond the basics. We can also then provide the basic getting involved information, and have discussions around safe practices, how to use BTC, explain the difference between BTC and Altcoins; without having to compete against general spam, bounty/airdrop spam, and other noise getting in the way of the intended signal.

With at least a decent idea of what we want this boards purpose to be to meet the current needs of a B&H section, we can then look at reporting and moderating it.

If you expect anyone to purchase this, you should probably try putting in some effort. Here is a good starting point [WTS] Posting guidelines for physical goods

The mention of escrow (forum trusted?) is a good start, but try filling in things like: Where it ships from, Forms of payment, and definitely images.

Good luck with your sales
2132  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: March 13, 2019, 08:37:57 PM
Wow that's not a bad jump at all in FIAT terms, nearly a 25% jump in price, with a 10% increase in BTC.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a market turnaround. Would be nice to see a bit of a run in the last few months of this experiment.
2133  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheated on$40. Swindler on: March 13, 2019, 07:20:44 PM
please help me to place the proof, I am ready to post correspondence with this swindler.
screen shot.

You will need to upload the image to an image sharing site, like imgur.com

They have an option that gives you the link and code to post to a BBcode board. If you post that then people can look at it. There are however plenty of other details people will want, and you should do this in Scam accusations as I said. I've actually asked this thread to be moved there, to facilitate this.

Give a good description of how this happened. Where you contacted on this forum by PM or reply in a post? If not how were you contacted.

What checks did you do to be sure you were dealing with micgoossens?

Also after having reread the post, I get that you sent the PP, explain how it was sent.

Just saw what you added. That combined with what Loyce mentioned above, shows you got picked off by a scammer who lied to you. In this case you have to go through Paypal to try and resolve the issue. Like I said before learn from this moving forward, and don't believe someone just because they say it's true, dig deeper.

2134  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheated on$40. Swindler on: March 13, 2019, 06:25:14 PM
It is not regular behavior for a legendary member on here to run away with someones money.

Just a rank really doesn't mean anything without several things backing it up. A signed message being one, and a steady amount of activity and interactions here on the forum.

There have been so many accounts Hacked/Sold over the years that you need to verify they are the original owner - going back to 2015 I guess. Then there's the hacks that still happen, if the user doesn't catch it in time  a scammer can swindle someone quickly.

OP
You may have a few options available to you - If you paid by credit card you can have the CC company cancel the payment. Paypal will leave you hanging, especially if you sent F&F. Do more research next time, as you can see the premium you pay for security can be worth it. Trust me it's a lesson many learn, I got ripped my first month in BTC as well  Undecided

Why would you believe someone who says he is a forum member, when he can't send you a pm?

Wait are you using your AI sense, or are you assuming they asked for a forum PM. Congrats on DT3  Grin
2135  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheated on$40. Swindler on: March 13, 2019, 06:02:55 PM
I don't know micgoossens personally but they aren't here swindling people for 40$ BTC.

You may have been duped by someone pretending to be this member. You would be best to create a scam accusation, and post your proof such as:

Link to the thread
Messages exchanged
TXID for the send.

Really anything that doesn't look like you are just tossing darts at someones profile.
2136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: March 13, 2019, 04:45:48 PM
Yeah that price is tough to get behind, even if you were a previous customer with that 600 coupon (if I read those right). I imagine  even more so if you are US based until the tariffs are adjusted.

The power switch on the PSU is nice, I only have one PSU that doesn't have it and it was the first one shelved. I would again have to hold off just because of the 240V, is that a true limit, is it just the generic "240" label. I really never used to worry about that until the S15, and now I can't stop looking at it.

Phil are the results from "CP2018"? I was hoping they would come back and discuss the process with us a bit more. So as far as the equipment goes we can call it confirmed. It would be nice if there were more out there we could see, and also to have a power draw. For now though I'd say that's enough to say it's been produced and sold.
2137  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What is this around the ethernet port? on: March 13, 2019, 04:34:47 PM
Yeah, the entire facility there is less than 10km inland. Humidity is always relatively high too. I guess the miners are basically just sitting there, basically condemned to hash until all of the hashboards give out from the poor environment.
Do you think there's anything that could be done to improve the humid, salty climate? The miners are essentially taking in air directly from the outdoors. I've heard mentions of metal pre-filters as well as paper filters on the intake side of things.
~snip~

It really depends on what is near and around for you to work with. I must say I'm amazed at how long the miners held up to date. The outer corrosion is annoying but really a non issue for your circumstances, mine them until they are unprofitable or dead. In the future though you can take steps to prevent this from happening. We have to paint and repaint metal surfaces in almost every plant I've worked at, to create a barrier and prevent corrosion to piping and equipment.

When you receive Miners you could use a higher temperature paint and apply it to the outer shell, hell you could cover it in electrical tape if you had an abundance. It's really about sealing the metal away from the air. This will do nothing for the interior of the miner. For the fan grill you can again paint it, just be sure to check and make sure it isn't chipping or flaking. I wonder if there is a plastic changeout available for the fan grill?

There is only so many ways to remove moisture from air.

Did you ever look further into using desiccant in the air intake ducting? Depending on the intake you can set up a cycling system that pulls moisture at the intake, once saturated is swapped for a fresh batch, the saturated desiccant can then be regenerated by placing it in the hot aisle. This is a manual, labor intensive variation on say a Desiccant wheel, which would cost more but would be more reliable.

Another option is only available if you say have access to a natural source of water close by or can contain a large amount and collect rain water. In the intake ducts you would want to make a "U" to cause a change in direction of airflow. In this ducting you would place a coil which you would pump the water through continuously. The drop in air temperature will knock out some of the moisture, which will throw it against the ducting to a drain at the bottom of the "U"

Either way you have some money and planning to go through to come up with whatever suits your needs.

Luckily the texts only require my hands to spread the tales of this twisted kingdom. Taking my tongue will only disappoint the least favored of Brothel workers, and haven't they suffered enough.

Usurpers and valiant defenders alike may be born of these tales, and all in between. What I do know for sure is the texts will never lie.... as long as everyone understands them in the exact same way....foolproof.

My character list is growing, and I have decided at least 1 more tale will be written. Let's say next week sometime, I have to umm wait for the stars to align, for a scammer to repay their debts, and let's throw in a baby born from a man that identified as female to conceive, arguing with the sprites of nature until they just left.
2139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 13, 2019, 01:44:35 PM
It must be something to do with my previous DHL orders, as I received a text Monday afternoon when my package was received, nothing updated from Pango. My guess is whoever enters the tracking info in is either swamped or just forgets.

I should have mine Thursday, I'll be at work so I'll have the wife on high alert. Bonus it isn't -30C so the Miner should be fine.
2140  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 13, 2019, 01:55:00 AM
It may be more inline with April 10 - 20. I checked the whatsminer and that's how they've listed it.

Not to bad considering they just went out of stock. What will be interesting is how long this incoming batch is available.
