901  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 28, 2023, 12:48:36 PM
On bitcoin, it is best to hold long-term. But if someone needs funds selling a portion of it in 2025 is reasonable enough. In the meantime, I quit trading so I also stopped using indicators. But I might sell part of my holding when bitcoin reaches the previous ATH of $67k and then once again around $95k. In the previous bull runs I waited too much which was $20k in 2017 and $70k in 2021. It didn't happen so I will be a little conservative this time. But it is still better to use indicators and I might also trade again during that time.
902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reasons you should not gamble on too many things at once. on: September 28, 2023, 12:24:39 PM
And once again it is about the bettor if it is gambling responsibly or not. Focusing on a single sport or game is more favorable for someone who has limited time. But if someone is a hardcore follower of multiple sports, teams, and athletes then there is nothing wrong with betting at the same time. I have a friend who loves to bet like 2 to 5 NBA games daily and so far he is doing well with his strategy. But of course, it remains within its reasonable budget. If someone wants to bet more games at the same time then the budget should be divided accordingly to avoid overspending.
903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you seen gambling advertisements on TV? Opinion. on: September 28, 2023, 12:01:42 PM
I don't have cable and I haven't installed an antenna on my television so it is only used for YouTube, Netflix, Twitch, etc. It's seldom that I can see gambling ads on Youtube but lately, I am always seeing this bingo type of online betting.

During sports games though it is common to see sports betting advertisements. I don't understand why we need to lie in case our children are asking about it. Why not answer them the truth and educate them in the right manner? It's like risking your ice cream money, you get 2 scoops if you win but no ice cream if you lose.
904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 28, 2023, 11:41:22 AM
Finally an end to the Damian Lillard drama.  Cheesy

How it ended up.
Quote
Here are the details of the blockbuster deal:

Bucks receive: Damian Lillard
Blazers receive: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Bucks' 2029 first-round pick (unprotected), swap rights on Bucks' 2028 and 2030 picks
Suns receive: Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/damian-lillard-trade-bucks-land-all-star-in-stunning-three-team-deal-jrue-holiday-deandre-ayton-also-moved/

I don't know what I will feel about this trade. Did the Milwaukee Bucks really win the trade?
I am now intrigued by what the Portland Trail Blazers are trying to achieve. Now they are filled with guards, Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson, and Jrue Holiday. The good part is, that DeAndre Ayton is a big steal for them.
Phoenix Suns on the other hand seems to be adding more on the defensive end since they have three assassins already.

Expecting greatness from the new duo in the East. Now this changes the odds of the outrights in NBA Winner.
The trade for James Harden seems to be getting cloudy.

Shocking news indeed. It's unbelievable. Just when the rumors that the Raptors have the best to offer for Lillard. The rumors were right thought that Lillard will be addressed by Portland this week. The same when Nurkic's name was mentioned as a Phoenix budget meal center plus more bench players instead of the more expensive Ayton. But nobody expected these to be done in a single deal.

I believe the Bucks won the deal. But it's actually a win-win scenario for the 3 teams. Portland has lots of guards now but it can trade some of them in another separate deal. The most important for them is to ship Lillard with the best deal.

It'll be a crazy season then. Hopefully Dame is happy with the deal. He is in a championship team and Giannis and Middleton are not hard to create chemistry. The city is smaller than his plan of relocating to Miami but I guess it's not an issue to him. It'll be a tough assignment for the Bucks' new coach then but we're hoping they'll be fine to make the season more interesting.
905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 28, 2023, 11:13:02 AM
I guess he will have accomplished the win first from Tapales and unify all the belts. Then plan his stay for another exciting matchup
unless Tapales will activate the rematch claw (not sure though if that's possible)
It's likely that there's a rematch clause since both are champions, and I'm pretty sure Inoue would make sure he would have the option of a rematch in case an upset happened. However, I wouldn't think of a possible upset, and I don't think Tapales' camp will activate that rematch if Inoue has a clear dominant win in this fight.

Inoue's camp provided a statement to continue the hype and to check if how fans will engaged especially those who wanted to see the potential
of giving Casimero his chance to be inside the ring against "The Monster"

All depends on how promoters will take it and how fans will react and push for whoever the next in line after Tapales.
Promoters will be happy to arrange that specific fight as it would certainly sell to the crowd. However, I have a feeling that the camp of Inoue might be a little concerned about their future due to the risk of losing to Casimero. Whether they will admit it or not, it's very obvious that they are not 100% confident that their monster boxer will win.

I don't think Naoya Inoue is interested in putting a rematch clause in his contract with Tapales. But Tapales can ask for it if he is not getting the money he wants. But technically it is hard to include a rematch clause in their fight since there are mandatories coming up soon. The IBF already has a mandatory waiting, the WBA has an upcoming eliminator fight and the WBC already had a partial eliminator but it could become mandatory depending on the situation.

I am curious about what made Inoue obviously scared of Casimero. Inoue wanted to become undisputed at 118 so he fought all 4 champions 1 by 1. Now he also wants to become an undisputed at 122. Inoue is busy fighting champions for his legacy while Casimero is busy fighting nobodies mate. Cheesy

Depending on how both camps will negotiate, I also think that Tapales camp can activate that rematch clause as a defending champion
he can ask for it especially if he's not satisfied with the money.

Since Inoue is seeking to unify all the belts, Tapales can demand things that may let Inoue agree, without Tapales having the desire to unify all the
belts won't be possible.

We can't tell what the future will be for both champs and how they will end this possible fight.

Both have aces in their negotiations. Both have equal 2 belts as well so it'll be interesting to see who dictates more on the conditions. Inoue wants to become undisputed so Tapales could demand a good amount of money especially if the fight happens in Japan. On the other hand, if Tapales doesn't agree with the offers from Inoue and completely rejects a unification fight, he will face an IBF mandatory and there's also the coming WBA eliminator which the winner will be ready by the time the IBF mandatory is done. Both the IBF and WBA mandatories are pretty sure tough fights for Tapales and he may even become an underdog while the money is nowhere near the level if he is fighting Inoue.

And if it is true that Inoue stays at 122 for a while, he can also tell Tapales that he will just wait for the winner of his upcoming mandatories since it is most likely that they are all willing to fight Inoue because he is the biggest cash cow in the division plus it'll be for the undisputed championship. Maybe Tapales can also say that he will vacate 1 of his belts so Inoue will be forced to face 2 champions instead of just 1 more fight to become undisputed. Anyway, hope both Inoue and Tapales will settle their differences so we can see another undisputed fight this year.

Obviously having more than one degree means your qualification is becoming higher as well so the chance of getting a job with better pay is also higher. I believe that there are always opportunities but it is for us to look for them depending on our level of determination.

Let's say you live in a place where employment is low so it's like the place has few businesses and companies. If someone wants to work near their home then it is better to take a degree that is more inclined toward the existing opportunities.

But in a perfect world, we should take a degree based on what we love and the existing skills and interests we have. So provided we are having difficulties looking for a job in our local place then we need to risk and travel elsewhere in order to find opportunities that will fit with our degrees.

908  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: September 27, 2023, 12:59:03 PM
A lot of people do not want kids not because they don't like kids, but because they feel they're not financially ready to have kids and they are not wrong.
Having kids when you can't take care of them is not a good thing to do, so instead of the Government rewarding families that give birth to children, they should find ways to create opportunities for the people, especially young people.

I believe underpopulation is not as big an issue as they make it seem.  Don't get me wrong, I know it's an issue but how many countries can show proof that the economy is slow because of underpopulation? Worst case scenario they open their borders for skilled immigrants.

The biggest problem facing world right now is that intelligent people are having less number of children, while those with low IQ are having plenty of them. And in the long-run, this doesn't bode well for the human race. Look at the following maps:

IQ level by country:

Fertility rate by country:

It is very clear that overall IQ level of human race is going down, and that too at a rapid pace. In the long run, this is not going to bring anything positive for us. There will be more conflict and warfare, and less innovations and inventions.

I'm curious if North Korea is really included as one of the world's highest IQ populations. I'm also surprised that China is on the same IQ level as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore.

Anyways, the point really makes sense. Here in my country, people who live in the slums are just too quick to have children. I remember when I was renting near a slum during my college days so I am familiar with some people there. In rural areas, farm workers and other poor people are also the ones with numerous children compared to their employers.
909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 27, 2023, 12:30:13 PM
Even if a team on the west manages to beat Denver this year, which could be done because most teams are not three peat type of teams and just win it once (look at bucks for example) but that doesn't mean that we are not going to end up with East teams just letting whoever is the new west team to win that easily. If Suns ends up going to finals this year, they would still have to play against the team from the east and they may end up losing that as well, so its never guaranteed. I am hoping that it would be good to see a bunch of teams trying to end up good, its not good to have bad parity and just good teams at the top, 1-2 good teams and rest sucks would be terrible.
The East will be almost predictable again if there aren't any changes in their roster, I am sure the Boston Celtics will dominate especially with the addition of the Unicorn Kristaps Porzingis. Now, the 76ers have a big problem on their roster with James Harden, the Miami Heat will still be an underrated team, Milwaukee Bucks seem to be silent too.
I can see the Orlando Magic taking a good spot in the East too.

I am also optimistic that the Boston Celtics will once again dominate in the East, especially during the regular games. Hopefully, Porzingis can stay healthy throughout the whole season. It would be really nice if the 76ers could trade James Hardin as early as possible so they can just focus more on their games and strategies without him. The same with the Miami Heat, they are busy trying hard to get Damian Lillard this season. The Bucks is a poor team compared to the other teams and it is located in a smaller city unlike LA, Houston, Boston, etc. They should be happy to have Giannis staying with them over the years.

Nonetheless, it will be another tough season. I have Denver and Phoenix as the top teams in the West while it might be more competitive in the East with some dark horse teams.
910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 27, 2023, 12:06:53 PM
About the fight last weekend. I really thought Joyce would win in the rematch. It was really awkward seeing him backpedal and try to be the counterpunch. He followed the new strategy until Xhang started connecting clean power punches and he was back to his old usual way of fighting. The confidence of Zhang was on display and he knew that he will stop Joyce again. I hope we're not getting Fury-Zhang next as big belly needs to fight Usyk for the undisputed title.

And it's interesting that the camp of Zhang says that they have a mole inside the camp of Joyce and then know that he will be going left. And that's why Zhang and his trainer really train that right hand of him be ready when Joyce goes to his left. And it also the first thing that the announcer has noticed as well in the first round that Joyce is moving left. So not sure if there are mole inside the camp of Joyce or is this the thing right now, as Davis also said that he has some insider from Ryan Garcia camp when they fought.

It's possible that Xhang's team was able to bribe someone who has access to Joyce's training camp. I find this kind of strategy cheap and unhonorable. Anyways, it's done already. Zhang all of a sudden is becoming in demand with rumors of him being contacted by the agents of Fury, Wilder, and Usyk. Well, he is old and not that quick although he's got a tough chin and carries power. Zhang might be mandated by the WBO to face unified champion Usyk. But Zhang wants Fury though during an interview. I think Zhang is easy money for Usyk and Fury. But it will be interesting to see him face AJ or Wilder.
911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 26, 2023, 12:05:13 PM
This upcoming Saturday will be an exciting moment in boxing again.

Canelo Alvarez versus Jermell Charlo (12 rounds) Super Middleweight Champion Title.
When: September 30 - 8:00 PM
Where: Las Vegas - T-Mobile Arena
PPV: Showtime

I really wanted to see Canelo win this fight and wait for Crawford to climb weight and have a huge match of the decade against him in the US. That would be one of the greatest achievements ever recorded in boxing history if Crawford managed to defeat Canelo. Because many have speculated that's not possible because Canelo is too much for him. therefore, if he proves them wrong, then he will earn the best of all boxers in his time. By the way, he also needs to beat Spence again in order for this fight to have a high chance of happening.

He will still be the crowd favorite, and that's why he was called the cash cow because he can bring fans to the sit and watch his fight. Although is opponent is also a unified titleist if I'm not mistaken, but it was 2 division down.

And so if Canelo won this fight then maybe we can see him and Crawford at 168 lbs next year to be the biggest fights.

For Zhang vs Joyce, Joyce stands no chance at Zhang got powe on both hands. The one that knockout Joyce is Zhang's right, which is very uncanny since his power is in left as he is a southpaw fighter.

Time's so fast. So we're already in the fight week. This is still a cherry-pick opponent by Canelo but I am still watching this fight live, unlike his previous fight in Mexico. I want to see Canelo knocking out Jermell and shut his big loud mouth. Jermell will be in for a shock of his life. Canelo will disrespect Jermell's power and will march forward to land his vicious punches to the body and head.

About the fight last weekend. I really thought Joyce would win in the rematch. It was really awkward seeing him backpedal and try to be the counterpunch. He followed the new strategy until Xhang started connecting clean power punches and he was back to his old usual way of fighting. 912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 26, 2023, 11:33:42 AM
Are you guys excited?

10 more days and the pre-season will start. October 5.
Dallas Mavericks will play against Minnesota Timberwolves in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Then on October 10, the Dallas Mavericks will fly to Madrid, Spain to play against the EuroLeague champions Real Madrid.

During the season, there will be 2 more games that will be played in different places and that is the Atlanta Hawks versus Orlando Magic, on November 9 in Mexico City, Mexico, and the Brooklyn Nets versus Cleveland Cavaliers, on January 11 in Paris, France.
I'm more excited about the drama around James Harden, and Damian Lillard than these games. Tongue
Kidding aside, it's always good to see the NBA being back again. For sure fans are happy, bettors are happy, GM's are happy, and of course the players are happy as well because they're back into business again as usual. Anyway, I hope that the fans who will be able to watch these NBA teams playing in their country will be happy as well.

Lol! I am more excited about Lillard and Harden too. Most of the time I don't watch or watch the games in full during pre-seasons. But it is good that they are back and are once again traveling overseas for their international fans.

There's a lot of news about Lillard once again. The Toronto Raptors is once again branded as the best team to take the veteran superstar. This reminds me of when Kawhi Leonard wanted out of the San Antonio Spurs saying he wanted to be shipped to a team of his preference especially the Los Angeles Lakers where rumors of him and Lebron James talked of uniting. It would've been a huge disaster for the Raptors if they failed to win the NBA championships since Kawhi did left the next season. Lillard also has the right to extend or leave his team after the 2023-24 season. But I am still hoping the Miami Heat gets Lillard before the start of the regular season.
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: September 26, 2023, 11:04:10 AM
Most of the casino games are purely based on luck. But there are also some games like poker and other card games that involve strategies and some other mind calculations but still, luck is part of gambling.

Sports betting is also another form of gambling where I am mostly focused nowadays. It's a challenging bet since our knowledge and analysis of the sports, teams, and athletes are super necessary to win. This has been my favorite form of betting ever since my college days. I also had my fair share of winnings and losses over the years. I love testing myself in the sports that I am following the most.
914  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: September 26, 2023, 10:41:36 AM
Gabon has been a local community struggling to achieve her goals o
for the development stability that is majorly focuses its source on the natural resources produces. If I have to chipping about the nation Gabon disconnection it economic governance from France longing to align with another country, then I must say that this would insights grudges and exceeds an existing conflict amongst the global power holders scrambling for economic influence.

The coup could aid to yield about decisions that often creates the craving of exacerbating the political systems with an accompanyment of social conditional effects.
This also could lead a weigh down(setback) of the international communities that is affiliated with the government and of course the economy with the couped nation (Gabon) with the potentials to boosten other opposition international countries economy likely in competition with the others (France).

Moreso, such situation could proffers to a whistle blowing for diffusion of refugees and illegality indulgence for survival which spreads and crumbles to negatively affect the economy.

I will rest to say that the coup in a nation (Gabon) tends to spread a global economic threats and sanctions with the significant rises in the marketing sector overheading the economic system where inflation is staked to hit a global.

I also believe that Gabon's elections were dirty. The Bongo family has been in Gabon's power for fifty years and most of its population is poor. It seems like the huge natural resources of Gabon only benefitted those in power. The family is so powerful and France is its main solid supporter that it is impossible to beat him in an election. Usually I do not agree with any coup d'etat but let's just hope that the interim government will conduct another fresh but clean election. Maybe it can ask for help from the UN so representatives will be sent. Also, the interim government should keep the French from intervening.
915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: September 26, 2023, 10:10:05 AM
I feel like using credit cards in general fuels spending sprees. For many years I opted not to apply and to accept bank credit cards until a friend offered me to use a card which is both my passbook card and at the same time can be used as a credit card. I am a thrifty person so I seldom use its credit card feature. Personally, it is just so easy to buy anything online or at the malls once you are using a credit card instead of budgeting the available cash in your pocket. So how much more when someone uses it to gamble. The urge to continue playing and the mindset that its interest is just a little like around 3% monthly but in reality, it is higher than a regular bank loan.
916  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 26, 2023, 09:50:22 AM
You have to stay focused and find a solution for one problem at a time... and putting a roof over your head, must be your first priority. Then you shift your focus on putting something in your stomach to enable you to work.

The world can sometimes distract you from these primary goals... because people get side tracked by the things that does not matter. (Size of the house / what area they live / What car they drive... etc.)

Just start small... and work your way up to your dream house and the family that supports you.  Wink

I am also in the same situation just like most people do. But I can honestly eat and pay my bills with ease. What is stressful is trying to think big like having significant savings for future use to buy or invest into something. I have many plans for the next few years and maybe because of it, I am a little stressed when I think about it. There is pressure to work hard and look for more ways in order to create income.

But you are right. Maybe I should just relax and savor the moments. Right now I am playing a mobile game in order to chill my brain.
917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MMA talk - PFL, Bellator, KSW, ONE... on: September 24, 2023, 12:20:08 PM

I watched a brutal fight between two tough Muay Thai fighters and it was held by ONE and since the first round Rodtang was very aggressive and managed to make Superlek head hurt until blood was literally dripping down his face.
Muay Thai fighting is one of the most exciting fights because the fighters have very good power and the power of their kicks and punches is also very strong.

From this fight I thought Rodtang could beat Superlek but in the jury decision Superlek won by absolute points over Rodtang.
Superlek tends to hold Rudtang hands more often and push him to the corner of the ring and this is one of the reasons why Rodtang cannot freely attack.

Congratulations to Superlek on the win.

That was one hell of a fight. I also thought Rodtang deserved the win but surprisingly the judges gave it to Superlek. And most people that talking about this fight also thought Rodtang won. It's a shame Superlek came in 5 pounds overweight. That's a lot of weight difference already. Rodtang's strikes would've brought more damage on Superlek if they came in at the same weight. And without the added weight, Superlek's strength when he's holding and pushing would've been thwarted at times.

People are demanding a rematch. Also, we want to see a 5 round fight and not just 3 rounds since this is a super fight between two warriors.
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: September 24, 2023, 11:56:10 AM

That's why this fight is going to be interesting and intriguing how Haney will handle the power of Regis, or if he can outbox a power puncher in full 12 rounds because sooner or later he will hit at least one good shot at Haney and we will see how he will react to it.

Haney should be able to handle that power by evading those punches. With his defensive style and quickness, he can frustrate Regis and disrupt his concentration during the fight. That's why it's understandable that even though Regis is the champion, sportsbooks still rate Haney as the favorite to win.

We really don't know that yet, if he can handle such power, just look at his fight against Linares, he wobbled after he got tagged,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpEmi1b6vZQ

So just imagine if a power puncher like Prograis can hit that maybe around 80%, for sure it might take a toll on Haney. No doubt that he is good in his defense, but he is not Floyd though, he can still be tag and feel the power of his opponents. It's just a matter before he can be touch by someone with a power and goes down and we will see if he can recover or not. So in this fight still a risk on Haney to keep his records, just saying.

I also believe that Haney cannot handle getting hit by a powerful puncher like Prograis. He got wobbled by an old Linares and he looked hurt against Lomachencko as well. And he is also moving up in weight which means he is also fighting a bigger guy whom I believe will be stronger than him.

But maybe Haney learned a lot from his past experiences and is becoming better with his defense. While Prograis had a bad performance in his last fight some believe that he might be past his prime already and he is also in his mid-30s.
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 24, 2023, 11:34:33 AM
I read that this is the 4 fighters that Inoue wanted to face before moving up in division,

1. 🇵🇭 Marlon Tapales - This November
2. 🇵🇭 John Riel Casimero
3. 🇲🇽Luis Nery
4. 🇺🇿MJ Akhmadaliev

So he has his own hit list, similar to what Floyd did before and he all beat them. As least for this 122 lbs, Inoue's hit list is good.

He said this in an interview? That's a lot of names. His handler before said they are targeting Nery or Casimero after Tapales which I thought that he is moving to 126 after 1 or 2 title defenses. But if he wants 4 more names in this division then I guess he'll be 33 years old or something if he is still planning to move up at 126. I really want to see Inoue move up in weight for his 5th or even 6th division title. But in order to do that he needs to move up quickly since he is not getting younger.
920  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never Marry a Coin/Project - Practically Example on: September 23, 2023, 02:38:49 PM
If he is still holding his Dogecoins then I believe he will get more than $3 million in the year 2025 or early 2026. But that is a big if. This really reminded me of my coins which I started to purchase from 2016 to 2017. My portfolio became huge and life-changing during the 2017 bitcoin and altcoins ATH but I decided to hold almost all of it. Then came the bear season, I thought I could manage to hold them but I started to become worried that it might be the end of crypto. In the end, I sold them all at the cheapest levels since I can only remember selling my bitcoins regularly from the $3k+ to $4k+ range.

But it really makes sense to never marry a coin. At least sell part of them when the profit is already big so there are no regrets when the time comes its prices drop hard.
