tl;dr -- theymos released PMs related to BFL and that's why, OP created this thread.

Not you again. I am tired of with your trolling. Weren't you already banned for a few times for trolling? -x_x-
1783  Other / Meta / Re: Slow forum on: May 26, 2015, 04:40:02 AM
Yeah, it's getting pretty sluggish for me atm. Browsing from Ontario, Canada.

I am also getting the 502 Bad Gateway error about half the time I try to load a new page.

Confirmed. My post was pushed even though the page didn't load.

1785  Economy / Lending / Re: Need Loan 0.125 BTC on: May 25, 2015, 04:57:28 PM
Your Bitcointalk account doesn't have a value of 0.15BTC. Value of collateral must be at least equal to loan amount but most lenders prefer 110%.

Do you have any other things to offer as collateral?

Could you sign a message using that address please?

A signed message isn't necessary and it is duty of the user who stake address to ensure he/she can sign a message from it.

1787  Other / Meta / Re: Server Compromised? on: May 25, 2015, 04:11:28 PM
A new thread wasn't necessary, IMHO. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1067985.0;all
1788  Other / Meta / Re: About the recent server compromise on: May 25, 2015, 03:36:36 PM
Thank you, theymos! Keep up the good work!

Anyone going after the hacker?

Would not 2fa protected this from occurring?

2FA will be in the new forum software but now, I think, implementing in current software will be good.
1789  Other / Meta / Re: Can I run multiple threads about the same service ? on: May 21, 2015, 05:00:37 PM
There is a slight numbering mistake in your post.

Multiple threads is allowed if those threads serve different purposes. IMHO second and fourth are valid.
1790  Other / Meta / Re: Minor trust score algorithm change on: May 21, 2015, 04:56:57 PM
The first number is the trust score.

So the trust score appear if you receive any trust include positive and negative on default trust and out of default trust ?

That's what I'm curious about. If someone trades someone out of default trust does it still raise the score? Or is the only way to raise the score is to trade with default trust? If so, that does not seem right. I do understand that you shouldn't trade exclusively with default trust nor do I, but if someone has alot of successful trades with other members that are not on default trust, that does not seem right that they would not get some sort of rating increase. That of course if trading outside default trust does not change your rating.

Numbers in trust rating increases only if you get positive feedback from default trust list users.

I can and do understand the reasoning behind this and its purpose, but, idk. Seems like their would be a better solution. Maybe a untrusted feedback ranking score as well.

Untrusted feedback score can easily be manipulated. It won't have any "good" use.

1792  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Handling user funds on: May 21, 2015, 04:40:39 PM
Sorry if this is the wrong subforum, I'm not quite sure which this belongs in.  Suppose I want to make a service that allows users to spend a crypto from their phones on a service that I provide.  The service uses user data sent from their phone (pictures, text, etc).

Can you please be more specific on how this service works? I didn't understand you correctly. I might be able to make my answer better if you can give more details.

This crypto does not have a lightwallet, implementing one is impossible,

Why is it "impossible"?

and the full wallet is too heavy for an android device to reasonably handle.

Right.

Is my only option to implement a server-side wallet service?

I don't know why implementing an SPV client is impossible. If that is true, then online wallet is your best choice if you know what you are doing. Else, I suggest you to create a block explorer and allow API requests. Then, you can create a simple app which uses this API. You can do that in four steps:

 • Fetch unspent.
 • Create raw transaction.
 • Sign raw transaction.
 • Push signed raw transaction.

If so, what are the best practices for handling client funds?  I'm thinking that I'd need to implement a server-side database with a record of funds owned by each account, and then distribute/use funds from the server wallet accordingly?

Any advice appreciated.

A ledger is important if you are creating an online wallet. You should backup this ledger and all private keys or wallet.dat either twice every 24 hours or when users create x addresses.

I highly recommend you not to keep everything in the hot wallet unless your security is good enough. I would also suggest to enable off-chain transactions but remember, this will make your part more complex.
1793  Other / Meta / Re: New Donation system on: May 21, 2015, 04:18:59 PM
How about we find the last person who donated 10 btc to the forum and see what the USD value of those bitcoins were on that day, then set the new bitcoin limit to reach donator status equal to that amount of bitcoin today.

Last user who donated 10BTC is fluffypony - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=94840. I think he donated it in April as 'Donate' page was last updated in April. The value of Bitcoin was probably between $235 and $250.

I think this is good idea but it will be unfair if someone get 'Donator' status for <10BTC. So this may not work. Anyway, I would like to here others' views on this.
1794  Other / Meta / Re: Minor trust score algorithm change on: May 21, 2015, 04:13:36 PM
I was confused to see why is the fourth number missing in the Trust of people.
Can't get a hold of this  Angry

And why do i see this Question marks with Red ink on this person's profile ?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=148389

He used to appear light green if i remember correct

I assume BayAreaCoins is in your trust list and his rating is new. Hence, you will see that rating. FYI he is still green for me.

The code is : if(score < 0)
         return ?? ? (orange)

Hence it returned ?? ?
??? is a valid score in the new algorithm.

Doesn't that mean if someone receives a positive and a negative rating, they'll go negative if the negative is newer?

If someone has 1 positive and 1 negative, then the time doesn't matter. They'll have a score of -1.

Examples:
Old -> New
+ - : -1
- + : -1
+ + - : ???
+ - + : 0
- + + : 1
+ + + : >=3
- - + : -3
+ - - : -3
- - - : -8

1795  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum plugins - merchant plugin - secret plugin repository? on: May 21, 2015, 04:00:23 PM
You can use Electrum merchant feature in the same way use Blockchain.info API but in a more secure way.

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=117199.0 and https://wordpress.org/plugins/bitcoin-payments-for-woocommerce/.

P.S. See https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-generated-addresses-are-not-showing-in-electrum to know about gap limits.

See above. If it's an alt coin it doesn't belong here. Is there not an alt coin overview thread anywere?

There aren't many to start an overview thread.
1797  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet on: May 21, 2015, 03:28:08 PM
I use coinbase. This is more secure, online access from everywhere and accepted by almost all marketplace.

Who said to you that a Bitcoin wallet *with* many restrictions and which prevent us to access private keys is *more* secure than other wallets?
1798  Other / Meta / Re: New Donation system on: May 21, 2015, 03:23:31 PM
which they send tips to every now and again (when they have BTC to spare) and when their total tipped reaches 10 BTC, their account gains donator status,

Make an address yourself and send all your spare btc there. Once you reach your 10 or 50 , just send it to the donations address. You shouldn't need to rely on the forum to keep it for you.

I don't think that would be a good idea and I don't think it will work. He will hesitate to donate 10BTC although he can spend same amount in dividends. That is a nature of human(exclude people leading luxurious lives).

Other donator status can be implemented but what more could you ask for? The 10 or 50 statuses are enough in my opinion.

+1. Forum doesn't need any money more. So I doubt we will see more donator ranks. At the current value of BTC, 10 and/or 50 BTC is very high for a rank but users need some "status". So they are asking for smaller donator ranks. Maybe 5 BTC?
1799  Economy / Services / Re: Do this International Management assignment and get up to $200 in coinz on: May 21, 2015, 03:08:05 PM
all good but, what is the guarantee that you will pay ? you need to move your fund in some escrow first, before one can accept this

You can check my trust if you have doubts.. i pay for good work, im not looking to rip off anyone's time.. if its still an issue i can work out some type of escrow

I don't think you are a scammer but (~$100) is ~2x of the bounties you ever paid. So it is better to escrow the funds.
1800  Economy / Services / Re: Need a good Non-Shared Wallet on: May 21, 2015, 03:03:26 PM
I need a decent, online wallet where I control the keys.

The user of a blockchain.info wallet DOES NOT "control the keys". blockchain.info does, and generates then subsequently deletes your funded private keys before they can possibly be backed up.
blockchain.info wallet is NOT "decent". Google the massive amount of thefts and BTC loss from them!
My understanding of how BC.I works is that the private keys are generated locally in your browser, are encrypted and then sent to BC.I to be backed up. When you later log into your BC.I your private keys are then sent to you in encrypted format and they will be decrypted locally in your browser.

It is my understanding that the primary reason for most BC.I thefts and losses is due to various MITM and social engineering attacks.

It is my understanding that BC.I never is in any kind of control of your private keys.

What you said have higher chance but this is not true in all cases. They have pushed a buggy code earlier and their wallet also generated signatures with low randomness. This is very dangerous. Who knows they won't push a buggy code again? However, till now, they are very trustworthy and that is one of the main reasons I suggest Blockchain.info over other online wallets. It is possible they are doing a long con.
