just checked my freq after 15h of continuous uptime.
i've got settings of --avalon -auto --avalon -temp 40 and i have 325 set in default box above. according to con the latter shouldn't matter.
problem is that hashrate is averaging only about 70 G Mh/sec. i thought it was supposed to go as high as 80-85?
edit: and freq are btwn 285-305
Set the temp to 50 and try again. Could take a while before it starts increasing the freq. You can set the starting freq if you like. You are also giving it confusing arguments: Starting freq 325, and maintain freq between 285-305. Starting freq is ok, set freq range to 275-350 and try again.

Starting freq is ok, set freq range to 275-350 and try again. maybe i wasn't clear. con specifically said that it shouldn't matter what figure you insert into the "Chip Frequency(Default: 300)" box. i just happened to have 325 in there over the last 15h. the result is actual frequencies of 3 avalons btwn 285-305. i would've thought that would be enough time for the auto setting to have ramped those to around 350. having said all that, i just went ahead and changed the 325 to 350 and already i've moved up to close to 80 Mh/s with freq of around 330. maybe the default setting does matter?

can i ask what acceptable HW error rates are? All my machines are running the 20130519b firmware, 2 of my machines i have set on 355mhz and they are getting around 1.6% - 1.8% HW if i do the equation HW x 100 / diff1shares(+HW), these 2 machines have been runnning around 84gh steadily.
My other 3 machines i have set on 345mhz and they get around 0.5-07% errors and they run at around 82ghs

It's going to really struggle to keep it at 40 degrees. That's probably why.

That's probably why. well, if that's the case then i'm going to try this: --avalon-auto --avalon-freq 350-375 --avalon-temp 40 i don't care about killing the fans. they can be replaced. i want to get the freq and resulting HR up (w/o killing the chips of course )

So which pools are people using for their Avalons?
i've used ozcoin and slush. I'm using EclipseMC.com. No fees and it's a good size pool (7TH/s).

I have 3 Avalons and I'm working on putting in a dedicated circuit in the basement for them. At an estimated 2100 watts at 110v (USA), I'm looking at 19A, which just pushes the limits of standard 20A breakers, with no room for future expansion.
What I've been thinking is that I can wire up an outlet at 220v, get slightly better power efficiency, and reduce my amps to about 10A, leaving plenty of room for future boxes.
Can anyone advise on a proper wiring diagram for 220v that's compatible with the 3-pin input on the Avalon PSUs?
As of right now, my understanding is that I'd wire black and white both to hot (on a dual-pole 20A breaker) and ground to ground, with no neutral. I should get 220v with the two hots as the breaker pulls in 110 and -110 for the two hots. I know I would need to get the correct outlets for 220v also as well as adapters or proper 220v PSU cables.

Be sure to make sure your pool op knows how well Avalons work on his pool! You also might mention how much you like working with such a reputable company like Avalon. Also, tell him how many Avalons you've been recently shipped! I'm sure he'll be real glad to know that so many people are really enjoying their Avalon!

I think your calculation is right. HW being so close to accepted is just a coincidence.

Well spotted. I fixed the hashrate meter for 5s so it really is a true exponentially decaying 5s average now. The old hashmeter was a little more "imaginitive". Thank you for the response, ckolivas. Enjoy your trip!

I am so confused as to a couple stats on the avalon webgui cgminer status page... First of all whats NMW?
2nd
Diff1shares vs DiffA
Does diff1shares reflect the ACTUAL # of diff1 shares mined on the avalon? Does DiffA represent the calculated number of diff1 shares accepted based on vardiff? In other words a comparison to actual diff1 shares mined vs the luck via a higher multi on the vardiff value?
Or is diff1shares calculated from DiffA... I dont see how it is, cuz I cant come up w/ the 20-40k share amount difference using calculations from any other part of the page...

Hi, I'm having restarts every hour. Currently running the 20130703 firmware on my #2 module unit and 20130627 on my #4 module unit (I just merged 4 modules in another case). Results at pool stats: I'm running stable at 375Mh/s with the other unit I have but still getting hashing power below the estimated 160Gh/s in total (I'm loosing 30 Gh/s !!). Maybe the restarts I'm having is due to the damaged board I received? Who knows how to locate the non-working piece? I already measured the temperature of each chip (they're all hot)

dude, by the inicated HW error count vs your diff1shares.... you are running those chips way to far OC'd .. no wonder ur having restarts. The HW error rate is like greater than 1/3rd of ur hashes!

What to do when you can't access the machine? Ran on range 290-325 and during it night it stopped mining. Now I can't access it anymore from the the net nor via ethernet from pc. PSU seems to be working, starts the machine up. Received the machine on friday. PSU is enermax 850w.
