Congrats Phoenix! I am at USD break even in one more day!  I've made 32 BTC with my jup.  One more month(ish) to break even in BTC terms using the exponential difficulty estimates I have been using.

Edit - Looks like I am USD break even today based on coinbase price.

Yes - Around 520 gh/s from the start.  I got really lucky with a unit with around 4 bad cores.

I wonder if those that had an easier transport had less hardware issues? I picked mine up in Sweden and flew home with it, and yes although it did go in the hold and suffer the horrors of Norway Air baggage handling and had all 4 fans fall off, it may have had less of a traumatic journey than via UPS/DHL van. Because mine has been happy on .96 hashing at 555Gh/s with zero bad cores according to:

hey phoenix, it says that the 0.98.1 firmware will be used to address issues with die 0 issues - how do i know if i have that issue? if i dont have that issue then i shouldnt update to 0.98.1?
reading some reports of the firmware beta users and some report improvements, although i dont know how to identify whether i need the update.

If you are having issues with the beta firmware (0.98.1) with the last two dies not turning on, the solution is to heat the chip up to at least 60C.  Once you get up into the 60s, the last two dies will turn on.  Several people have confirmed this.  I turn off the heatsink fans, block the airflow from the front fans until the heat gets up to 60+, then I allow the front fans to run while leaving the heatsink fans turned off.  If temps drop back below 60C, the dies will turn off.

Been about a month since the units took flight,  feels a bit longer though.

I would be interested in KNC changing out the poll to ask how customers are feeling now.   Most of the issues have been resolved, BTC price is great, and the other companies releasing 28nm chips appear to be having delays.  

I think about the conversations where people say it would have been better to just purchase BTC rather than go with KNC.  That sounds like a simple thing to do but I don't think I would have dropped over $20k on BTC when I placed the order.  I felt protected in a way since
the price of the units were way under any other product and if they didn't deliver I could get a refund via paypal or credit card, or even KNC.    I feel great about my KNC investment and think many are in the same position.  

Do we think that KNC will be releasing another product in Q2 of next year?  I don't see a newly designed chip getting release, maybe just a different physical configuration and ways to tighten up the Jupiter.  Who knows though.  Scrypt miner?   We will see!

even though all my dies were ok...
one had 3 cores bad, and one had a single core out... lol

it's not, the beta was explicitly to address die zero, but anyone can apply, 9.8.1 production - there's some minor improvements, but Phoenix your boxes are happy as they are...

Ok, after a couple of hours in, the hardware error rate is approaching what it was before, but the %rejects HAS improved with FM 0.9.8.1 down to 0.17% from 1.59% before, so nearly 90% reduction in rejects!

Being flash-happy pays off! lol

Ouch, that sucks.  Seems like there ought to be a way to detect this though, since you can't change the timestamps on solved blocks.  Should be obvious if someone is holding blocks back consistently to implement this attack, no?

I did my part and switched from BTCG to BitMinter.  Although it looks like BitMinter is getting a LOT of stales recently.  Strange.  Is someone testing out this theory already?

Your "promising sound currency" is just that, a promise which did not became reality (yet?), while your "exponentially-printed-to-oblivion/give-inflation-to-bankers-enslave-everyone-else/no-control-over-your-money corrupt currency" is what everyone in all civilized nations use to pay their debts.

So, going back to the context of that reply, you're mining for food/debts?

When I was mining gold in my youth, I did it for the money. Partially. I also did it for the adventure, the time spent in places that civilised people were unaware of or afraid of, and for the pure hell of it. But the money was definitely a motivator, if not the only one.

Had I known then what I know now, I would have held at least half my gold instead of selling it all, but I was VERY young.

When I get sufficient resources to start bitcoin mining, I will probably convert about half of it to fiat on the upswings in price, and hold the rest. It seems to be steadily trending toward the mainstream. It even made the front page of the Idaho Statesman yesterday. Not exactly an innovative newspaper. I doubt that bitcoin will ever replace national currencies, but I think it will be a stronger and stronger side currency.

Short Form. I think BTC will continue to rise against traditional fiat, and I think of it more as a store of value than a daily currency.

No. Not even in part. For that I use a day job that fulfils that need completely (fortunately) and I think that's the case with the majority of the people in this thread (not saying that mining full time is not OK but then you will be competing with hobbyists/small investors in a way not seen in other investments, which is beneficial to Bitcoin like I discussed in an earlier post). You can start drawing future scenarios for my person or define "food" and "debt" in such a way that you can say "at least in part" but then there's very little meaning in the question: "what are you mining for?".

Short Form. I think BTC will continue to rise against traditional fiat, and I think of it more as a store of value than a daily currency.

I prefer to think of it as "mostly currency" with properties that make it hold value better in it's money aspect than most FIAT currencies, but I really don't think anyone wants us to debate that here and I'm not that interested in definitions.
