So, that extra module that I've ordered. Can I run it with anything else but the main control boards? Let's say rPi?
Please advice.
It's a BeagleBone Black (Circuito, Newark or Farnell) inside the KNC as far as I can tell. Similar to the RaspeBerry Pi -- but that's all. which is mounted to the actual controller board.. I don't see how you'd connect the data ribbon to a BBB without one. What a great morning...Gox @ 427.....coinbase @ 390... nice! Suggestion for KNC's GEN2... Native WiFi a small pci slot on the controller board...and a 5 dollar 10/100 wifi card... sorry for being pedantic but it's a plain BeagleBone, not the Black version. And if memory serves KnC removed the USB interface.

Imake them on the same way... So, looking reasonably simple press fit insulation piercing. Is there a best compression tool or are most going with channel lock pliers? I know when I make my own RJ45 connectors, the insulation piercing is okay but not 100%, 100% of the time and this with a fairly decent RJ45 crimping tool. When hashrate falls showing a module has died I'd bet the failure to be a homemade ribbon cable. I have ordered a roll of cable with connectors. Just wondering about a best compression tool without getting to ampenol costs. http://www.voelkner.de/products/10092/Crimpzange-Schneidklemmtechnik-Flachbandkabel-56x15-5mm.htmlYou don't really need that, do you? You can press it with fingers or common pliers, right? I'll probably go with a small heavy vice.

it says "beaglebone-black". I'm not an expert on these things, but I wouldn't imagine a non-black version would have that entry. Could be wrong tho. In addition, some folks matched up the physical layout from the preproduction pictures to be the Black version, IIRC. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there in case someone found it interesting/useful.

Everything in KNC world is rainbows and unicorn! Meanwhile, over in HashFast land, the crybabies are bitching about a picture of the CEO holding a big package of their recently delivered chips. The chips were delivered and they're still crying! What the hell is wrong with this world? I'm very happy that I went with KNC and Bitfury. But I wish now that I'd have invested in HF too.

It would appear not, not without some detailed internal documentation on how the host communicates with the modules which I don't believe KNC has released. The higher level operations are handled by a BeagleBone Black which you can buy off the shelf for $40 however the BBB doesn't connect to the modules directly. The BBB connects to a "communication board" which has the 4 (or 6 ports) and more importantly an FPGA running unknown firmware. Without that board or the ability to reverse engineer it you likely are dead in the water.

You must not understand the actual situation. They promised end of October/Early November First Batch They just got their "Silicon" (Not Chips) on Feb 7th They stated the Substrate (What surrounds the silicon needed to make it into a "Chip) is delayed until Early-Mid December Once they have the working "Chips" then they have to test them and finally assemble the units. All of this going into the Holiday Season. KnC will ship their second batch before HashFast ships their first and HashFast paid $600 more then KnC November Orders and will receive 150+ LESS GH if their chip runs at 400GH like they state. I'm sure there's more but that should help you understand the mood in that thread.

Now I'm kinda bummed about getting the upgrade board. Instead of $1,000 for the board, I really paid $1,300. Of course the market would continue to spike the day after I spent my BTC! haha Suggestion for KNC's GEN2... Native WiFi Wink Wink Wink a small pci slot on the controller board...and a 5 dollar 10/100 wifi card... Or USB. The Linux SOC really limits me here at school. I'm already breaking like 5 rules with this on the network because as a standalone "computer", it breaks the support device policy.

But I wish now that I'd have invested in HF too. Imagine how much BTC you would've given them at $120 levels and still have to wait until mid-December at the earliest. Don't regret.

Crumbs and others occupied this thread too and just moved on as soon as KNC started to deliver. We need a "ban-function" in this forum to keep posters out that most often arent even invested in the company they are trolling and arent adding one productive bit to the issue. They can open their own thread and keep fudding there but there should always be one "clean" thread where a good discussion about pros/cons or whatever is even possible.

Today is party day for me... The whole BTC endeavor has surpassed itself investment wise. I lost plane ticket money, office lease deposits, internet service installations, not to mention all the tables, cords, and power supplies I shipped to Washington, directly from amazon, just to get the miners into a 2.4 cent electrical situation... The "Powers that be" saw to it there was a glitch in the address change online, and my machines were subsequently shipped here to hawaii Instead of Chelan, which meant an emergency PSU re-order for home...but Chelan would have been a total disaster in hindsight, with all the things unforeseen that needed worked out. Thank the stars. I'm VERY Happy they are here at home, even with .43 electric. In approx. 27 days, so far, I've earned about 33.5 BTC total. By today's price, that covers Every cent spent, and more... but wait!... I was able to re-invest the BTC, and now will ultimately end up with over TRIPLE my current hashpower by...(Nov.?th)... certainly out-pacing the diffchanges by a significant margin. All thanks to KNC & The ASIC Godz! **Just had to get that out.... AAAaaaah. This is exciting.
