I reinstalled Java 7.021 and Bitminter Client will DL but it is Unable to Launch.

If you click the "details" button what do you get? There should normally be an error message near the top saying something like unable to download some URL, or similar. The big stack trace below is not necessary.

The error is usually that it is unable to download something, and the cause is usually antivirus/firewall stopping it or bad proxy settings (points 3 and 6 above).

I disabled my antivirus program and clicked the "Engine Start" button. Then I get a popup that says:
"Do you want to open or save bitminter_jnlp (2.98 KB) from bitminter.com?"
If I click Open nothing happens. If I select Save and Open I get a popup window asking me which program to use to open it with.
Didn't the program used to be called bitminter.jnlp, dot not underscore jnlp???

Bingo!!! I saved the bitminter_jnlp and changed the underscore to a dot and doubleclicked it and it ran and executed.

Welcome to BitMinter. I have tried to make it as easy to use as possible Smiley

Bingo!!! I saved the bitminter_jnlp and changed the underscore to a dot and doubleclicked it and it ran and executed.

Yeah, that would do it. I wonder why it was saved as bitminter_jnlp

By the way, if Java is disabled in your browser then you can try starting from command line instead:
Code:
javaws http://bitminter.com/client/bitminter.jnlp
You can type that in the input field of the Windows start menu, or in a terminal window if using Mac OS X or Linux.

Hello,

I get the following error message from my bitminter:

2013.04.25 [16:13]  Connection failed: Permission denied: no further information

It worked yesterday, nothing has changed in the config from my PoV.

What does this mean ? I tried

- using the Port 80 Option
- using two different connections (over my own VPN and over mullvad)

Why doesnt it work anymore ? I have the same issue with 50miner...

Why does the livestat counter for my hash rate seem so off all the time?

I'm usually getting around 155 Mhps, but the site varies widely, from 72 at times all the way up to 300, while the java client stays consistent.

Anyone know what's going on?

Any changes on your computer, upgraded Java or antivirus/firewall?

Why does the livestat counter for my hash rate seem so off all the time?

The real hashrate is on your computer. The website hashrate is an estimate.

[6] Wrong proxy settings: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/proxy_setup.xml (use direct connection if you don't need proxy)

I just now found out about this. I use a proxy and ended up setting up Proxifier to force the BitMinter app to go through a proxy and not attempt a direct connection.

Would have saved me a bunch of time if I would read this thread sooner.

Hello,

I have search but can't find how to setup difficulty of single worker on Bitminter pool.
Is that option possible on Bitmiter and if yes how to setup it with cgminer?

I'm a bit nervous about letting Bitminter run on my computer. Is there any way to see what this thing's doing? For example, is the source code posted anywhere?

No, as I think the java program bitminter provides is closed source.

If you want/need the source then e. g. cgminer is for you.

[7] hs_err_pid file on desktop: graphics drivers crashed, get new drivers

I've reinstalled multiple different AMD drivers (even the latest 13.4 and 13.5 beta), JAVA, motherboard drivers, the works, I don't know what else to do. Going to attempt a system reinstall later if I can't find an answer.

Card is 7970 - Problems arrose after I may have stupidly attempted some OCing, never again, card still works but I can't even boot BitMinter now even with card unplugged - Windows 8

I was able to start Bitminter with some form of the installs but then once I hit the go button BM crashes, even when I only start the integrated graphics (AMD) (which makes me believe it's STILL NOT an issue of the card being Fried)

Does it leave a hs_err_pid file on the desktop? Most likely your graphics drivers are crashing. Uninstall, run driver sweeper to clean up properly because AMD uninstall doesn't actually work, then reinstall a good version of Catalyst. 13.1 is no good, never install that. I'm running 13.3 beta. I see now on amd.com that 13.4 and 13.5 beta are available. Haven't tried those, so I'm not sure how stable they are.

There is some info on the front page http://bitminter.com how to use with cgminer.

Try driver sweeper when you uninstall Catalyst. The Catalyst uninstall has never actually worked, it leaves behind all sorts of nonsense.

I'd be very cautious of using Driver Sweeper.  It caused more problems than solutions on the 2 machines I tried it on.  Problems I estimate an average computer user would have a lot of trouble solving.   There are threads for manually uninstalling the drivers that AMD uninstall misses out there I would google them.

This did not work for me, uninstalled drivers, rebooted in safe mode, did a driver sweepe, came back and installed 13.3 beta, still the same result, crash and a error file on desktop
