Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

Can you illustrate, from where do the merits actually come from ?

First read OP (which means Opening Post) of this thread, and if you still have questions, then perhaps read posts of the first couple of pages of this thread, and if you still have questions, then maybe ask your refined questoin based on the information that you have understood from those posts.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Actually, you have to count the activity. As it takes 30 activities from junior members. The member takes 60
Just like Merit. For example, 10 merit to get from the member, the full member takes 100
The previous system used to be Merit automatically .Just as activity is.
But now the system is closed. Because of not getting Merit, the junior member can not go to the up position. So now if you want to get a Merit then  have to knowledge, have experience, It must be proved and then you get Merit. This Merit can give.  who has have S Merit. The one who has the number of Merit will be half S merit. And the S Merit would have to pay the others. For example, if you have got 10 merit, you can give 5 merit others. This is basically the use of merit.I think you understand

New merit ranks have really shown a great impact on the forum. Forum is now becoming more secure and trustworthy considering the rank of member. It has really made it much difficult to get some merits for ranking up and only the ones who do have enough skills and knowledge about it make it up and get some merits to rank up their account.
Bitcointalk forum is a huge platform for many new peoples who just came accross bitcoins amd cryptos. Even i wan new when i had started and i am yet stuck on the jr member rank due to merits.
I don't feel guilty for it. Forum is getting clean and it is really much needed for the well-developed future of the forum.
This forum has some great skills and also each major bitcoiner or any individual related to cryptos are here on this forum.
I just want some help regarding earning some merits.
How can i earn some merits?
I am ready to work hard for it.

Indeed! 210 Activity, 587 Posts, and 0 Merit. Well done! /sarcasm

Merit has nothing to do with being trustworthy.

lima. didn't actually write anything; just quoted the entire OP with a comment from someone else to make it look like something was said. So, this is either plagiarism or, at least, a zero-value post.

It is a sad fact that your post number is 500+ but you did not get a Merit. You can read forum rules very well and read all the board's pin posts and follow the post all senior members. But do not copy anything and post it. Then you will get to acquire knowledge. Then you'll be able to get Merit.

Did you ever heard about merit sources? They are people on the forum to whom you can represent couple of your posts, which you count merit deserved and if such merit source will agree with you he will send you one or some.

This is a tremendous step towards achieving a creative and resourceful community kudos to the moderators. Regarding fears of abuse by community members, I have this to say; No system is without flaws. There may be lapses on the new rules but that doesn't mean we should discard it altogether.
We have to start somewhere. This is a progressive community and has always been. This was definitely not where and how we started but somehow we have evolved to this stage. Let's give this idea a trial. I believe moderators would be on the lookout for lapses and would readily create a means to check them.
My opinion though.

You got your merits now, thanks to that generous giver. Welcome to "Member" rank, hope you could earn more merits next time.

Normally, if given a choice to do something and nothing, I choose to do nothing.
But I will do something if it helps someone else to do nothing.
I'd work all night if it meant nothing got done.

I'd like to vote for the implementation of fractional merit. Considering we live in crypto and all I think it's a shame that I am unable to send someone half a merit, 4.20 merit or similar. Sometimes I just find myself thinking that someone deserves more than 1 merit while I'm not to keen to spend 2 on that particular post yet I'd like to make it stick out by rewarding said user.

Make it only one or two decimals, that shouldn't be too hard. However, I'd really like to see it.

That merits have been tested quite a lot with the current rates, introducing a simple change like that may require time, there could be hidden pandora's box waiting to be opened. But most likely is should be fine  Cool

It would change nothing besides the fact that you can now spend your sMerit in more ways and not run out as quickly as most people probably do today. People would still need set amounts to rank up and the timeframe for that would probably not change at all with fractional merits.

I don't think fractional merit is necessary. Does it make a difference when Binance - one of the biggest exchanges doesn't allow its users to sell/buy fractional tokens.

Besides, the current merit system encourage people gaining merit in order to send, i.e when you receive 1 merit, you need to earn 1 more to be able to send. It's helpful in reducing merit abuse.

How would merit be abused by you being able to send 0.5 instead of 1? You'd still need to get 1 merit to send that 0.5 merit so it makes no sense to me why you'd not be able to.

For all I care keep it as you need to have 1 sMerit to send anything to someone else, but give me the chance to merit a post for 2.5 or similar.

If one of my alts luckily receive 1 merit for an effortless post, I'll need to wish for more luck to get 1 more merit to be able to send 1 to my main account. Whereas, with fractional merit system, I'd immediately send 0,5 merit to my main without praying any luck.

I doubt that the 0.5 merit would matter much. Merit abusers/farmers usually get tagged anyways, not sure I'd give 2 satoshis about someone who has 0.5 merit on their account, lol.

It's not about buying/selling merit, dude. And 0,5 merit would make a ton of sense if 1 merit is required to become junior member and access to bounties sub.

And it's not suspicious at all, to receive 10 Merit from a red trusted account seller, 2 hours after complaining about Merit.

For all I care keep it as you need to have 1 sMerit to send anything to someone else, but give me the chance to merit a post for 2.5 or similar.
I see no point in fractional Merits. If you want to give 2.5, you may end up giving 2, while someone else in the same situation would give 3. In the end, it doesn't matter on average. And considering you need 1000 Merit to become Legendary, you can give an amount as low as 0.001 times Legendary already.
