2021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 25, 2022, 05:31:04 PM
^  Daukas is def live during R1 as he has fast hands and has the KO power esp early.  And did I already mention that Blayeds is chinny?  Grin  So if you're going to take Daukas, taking him to win via KO to get better odds on it is prolly the way to go.  I can't see it going for the whole 25 mins and win via decision.
Yeah, we haven't really seen what Daukaus is like outside the second round, as he rarely gets there. However, Curtis has gone the distance a few times, if Daukaus can avoid the take downs successfully, which I do doubt he will. He could potentially win by bigger output. Curtis isn't really known for volume of punches, and kicks, but rather his knockout ability, and as you said wrestling.

Even just betting straight up Daukaus you get some nice returns, whereas Blaydes' odds are absolutely crazy, I don't consider him that big of a favourite, a favourite yeah, but not by that wide of a margin.
2022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 25, 2022, 05:27:47 PM
Would be nice to see Ronaldo, Messi, and Bale Wink in the world cup this time.

I watched it on with their commentator and he was crazy happy. Long time since I heard someone shouting like that in live feed.
Yeah, I can sometimes complain about the bias that we have with the Premier League commentating, then when your hear some of the non English feeds, they go absolutely bonkers. Although, it's nice to see some passion, I think some of our commentators have lost that, and if its not Manchester United or Manchester City, they barely react to goals.

2023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regarding the high loss rate of Bitcoin, has Satoshi Nakamoto considered? on: March 25, 2022, 03:22:01 PM
Your biggest mistake is that you are making conclusion based an initially wrong assumption which I don't know where it came from. The fact is that the "loss rate" is not only nowhere near 5% annually but also it will keep decreasing significantly as we move forward for two main reasons.
First is the fact that price keeps rising so each individual owns less amount of bitcoin compared to when it was worth a lot less. So if one person loses bitcoin it is a small amount lost.
Another reason is that as bitcoin becomes more valuable, people are more careful about not losing it. So they take more precautions like keeping more backups in multiple places, etc. and that reduces the number of loss cases.
Also, education will play into it. The more time goes on, the more people will become a little more educated about protecting their Bitcoin, and in some cases even considering handing down their Bitcoin, once they've passed. The biggest early contributor was that a lot of users didn't take Bitcoin seriously, I've had my doubts in the past, and its probably my biggest regret, since I would have been in a far better position than I am now if I believed a little more, well it was more that I let others opinions get the better of me, rather than listening to my gut feeling. Anyway, people now know either the potential of Bitcoin or can see for themselves the potential for the price to swing wildly, therefore people will be much more careful handling that money.

When you consider both of those things, people become more educated, therefore more careful, organised, and they know the value. I can see the loss rate being very minimal.
2024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why offline casino go online? Thoughts? on: March 25, 2022, 03:17:19 PM
If you think about it, their customers will be willing to spend more at their casino if it's online because they don't have to factor traveling to it as an expense. So, that expense will go into the kitty for a lot of the gamblers, plus geographically, it opens up the amount of visitors they get exponentially. Despite there being a lot of competition out there, its far from being saturated. Saturated in terms that its not a new concept, but not saturated that you'll pretty much always find gamblers. Look at the lottery, a large percentage of the population do the lottery, and some won't even consider it as gambling if you ask them.

Casino's are better off doing it online, for the above mentioned reasons, but also because they don't have to hire security teams, and floor staff.
2025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educate and teach the youngins about Bitcoin. on: March 25, 2022, 03:13:45 PM
This is going to sound a little bit weird considering the forum we're on. However, Bitcoin likely isn't the future, at least  completely. It'll definitely be a part of the future, however if your hinting towards it becoming the mainstream currency everyone uses, then I do have my doubts about that. Its possible, but teaching the youngsters that this is definitely going to be the future is probably inaccurate.

When teaching, you need to be as unbiased as possible, I actually think the amount of bias we have in education right now, is partly the reason why school sucks as much as it does. We shouldn't be telling people that Bitcoin is the solution to all their problems, instead we should be teaching them about the pros, and cons of it, because even though I'm quite optimistic on Bitcoin's future, it's far from a perfect solution. It definitely has issues, that either need sorting out or will be replaced by better technology in the future. Bitcoin, however to me is better than any other currency that we currently have, however the definition of better will vary from person to person, one of the best things about Bitcoin to me is the freedom, you don't need to rely on third parties, and with the confirmation system, as well as Proof of Work, we've got a very good system for preventing any mishaps.

It being non reversible, which could potentially be seen as a bad thing to some people, I actually think is a good thing. The problem with fiat is there's many scammers out there that do charge backs, and most companies like Paypal or Ebay favour the buyer because of consumer rights.
2026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western sanctions will push efforts to move away from Global reserve currencies on: March 25, 2022, 03:04:41 PM
Russia's attempts to seriously use Bitcoin would be a net negative for Bitcoin. China and India have already taken strong anti-Bitcoin stance. Bitcoin is the most adopted in the West, if Western governments will start viewing it in a negative light and start taking measures against it, Bitcoin would be globally pushed into the shadow economy. And there will be no more bull runs and mass adoption.
Negative in the short term definitely, however as time goes on I imagine people will start to see through their own governments, and how inflation is kicking their ass. I think we're probably the most aware we've ever been, and it's going to get better from that point of view.

The West won't ban Bitcoin just because its adopted by their enemies, it's far more likely they adopt it too to counteract the benefits its enemies have. Since, you can't effectively control Bitcoin, banning it isn't going to prevent half the world using it, since Russia, China, and all that could potentially switch their stance if they're alienated by the West.
2027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 25, 2022, 02:10:34 PM
^  That pic of Jojo Wood is from years ago when she wasn't even in the UFC yet from the looks of it.  Same with the Grasso pic.  That's from her Invicta days.

Here's my full card parlay for the event.

Askarov - Magny
add:  Grasso - Borshchev
add:  Blaydes, Brown, Kizriev
add:  Nicolau - Guttierez - Fiorot
add:  Latifi - Souza
add:  McMann

It prolly would've been better to make the bets early in the week when the lines were better...  Oh well.

McMann is the least confident pick but taking my chances.  It could be one of those ones when the old UFC veteran gets a close decision vs the young upcoming prospect.  It's prolly be the spot.
Askarov isn't even worth putting on an accumulator at the odds I was looking at yesterday. 1.20, aint worth the risk of something crazy happening on the night. Magny likely gets the win, I'm really unsure about Blaydes. Either the main event goes to the score cards which I think its anyone's game, depending on the amount of wrestling, since I would like to think Blaydes has the advantage or Bladyes gets the knockout a few rounds in. Since, Daukaus rarely goes the distance, he could find him tiring, especially since its a five rounder.
2028  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🏆 Betnomi.com - Crypto Centric 🏀Sportsbook and 🎲Casino - 🔥Biggest Jackpots on: March 25, 2022, 02:05:33 PM
I wouldn't be too critical of the issue, a user probably wanted to help as suggested, but was a little naive in the damage that could potentially do. At the end of the day it didn't get so out of hand that it caused a massive problem, the offending users had their threads removed, and as far as I'm aware no further actions were taken. So, lesson learnt for the user that started this, but really nothing more than that.

Like I said, it probably was thought of from genuinely good intentions. As for Betnomi's reputation, I'd say its unaffected from this, and also the user that started the idea, relatively untarnished too. It's easy to think something is a good idea, without knowing the amounts of spam it can create. In this case is was relatively small, and sorted out quickly.
2029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 25, 2022, 09:47:42 AM
Yeah, Conmebol and Afcon does tend to take half our squad away these days! Alisson, Fabinho played, don't know why our boy Firmino wasn't called up (he also wasn't on winter break) after serving them so well in past games but I'm happier for that, even if he's disappointed.

Elsewhere, Luis Diaz opened up scoring for Colombia, Jota slotted one for Portugal, so yeah, pretty pleased. I know all these guys actually come back happier and hungrier if they do well for country, so long as they're not run into the ground is all.
Firmino's style doesn't really suit Brazils, at least his pressing doesn't, and I think that's one of the most important parts of his game for Liverpool. I can't believe we actually signed Luis Diaz, hes been brilliant not only for us, but Colombia. Really hit the ground running, and I think signing him alone might give us that nudge we need to really put the pressure on Man City in these final few weeks.

The depth that Liverpool have right now is probably the deepest that I've known. Especially that front three, we can effectively swap them out on a bad day, and not have much of a quality drop.
2030  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto ads targeted NBA? on: March 25, 2022, 09:42:57 AM
It's becoming pretty common for every sport to have some sort of cryptocurrency advert in the background now. The UFC have it, the Premier League have it, and the NBA. The Premier League (which is football if your not familiar) actually has a couple of cryptocurrency sponsors. Some teams also have a Bitcoin related company as their primary sponsor.

Bitcoin in particular is starting to enter mainstream viewing, its only a matter of time that we see an increase in adoption from it. We've probably already seen the benefits, even if that's not increase in adoption specifically, what I'm getting at is just by having these advertisements on mainstream sports, it doesn't only legitimise these companies, but it also legitimises Bitcoin in the eyes of the average viewer.
2031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western sanctions will push efforts to move away from Global reserve currencies on: March 25, 2022, 09:38:53 AM
If Russia finally decided by going with the use of bitcoin (crypto) i think it can be pretty good because it is a decentralized system, just that the swift ban may affect some exchanges from operations else bitcoin can still be a rescue alternative.
The only issue that we have currently is Russia is public enemy number one, and anything they do, that involves Bitcoin will effect the short term of price of Bitcoin. This isn't a problem for long term investors, but if they adopted Bitcoin on a large scale, it would likely send the price down, simply because the press would be pumping out propaganda not just against Russia, but Bitcoin too. As we know from history, we can't trust the news during war, no matter what side your on, since it'll be full to the brim with propaganda.

So, if you invest into Bitcoin frequently, and take that Bitcoin back out, its probably worth considering the short term i.e a couple of months potentially years the effect Russia adopting it in some capacity would have on it short term.
2032  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Hardware wallet vs software wallet for daily transaction on: March 25, 2022, 09:34:55 AM
This is pretty much the set up I use. A hot wallet on my phone for daily spending. Yeah, it's not super secure, but I don't download any junk on to my phone and I only keep an amount I can afford to lose on there, and I've had no problems yet. If I wanted to make a bigger purchase in person, then I'll take along a hardware wallet, perhaps even with the funds secured by an additional passphrase and a decoy amount of coins in the base wallet.
While I probably wouldn't advice it, and its not something that I do myself, however it's definitely convenient. The thing is, if you haven't downloaded anything else without verifying the source, for example downloading applications from f-droid, that you've verified, and you don't allow installing from unknown sources, Android is fairly secure, because it has a decent permissions system. This could potentially be breached, but so can any operating system.

The only issue I see with phones is commonly your not always connected to your own network, and you use roaming or 3G/4G which can be attacked in certain ways depending on the implementation of it. Also, goes without saying, using Wifi on it while spending your Bitcoin probably isn't the best idea.
2033  Other / Meta / Re: Betnomi Spam. on: March 25, 2022, 09:19:24 AM
All of the threads in the OP have already been removed, so just keep reporting them when you see them. They'll either get the hint or get banned. This commonly happens in the Altcoin section, and you usually find they
re offering an incentive to do this, either on their announcement thread or within their social medias e,g Discord.

This could be that the particular gambling website has a chat system, and they've been pushing joining Bitcointalk, and leaving positive reviews. I can't verify that though as I don't use the site.
2034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regarding the high loss rate of Bitcoin, has Satoshi Nakamoto considered? on: March 25, 2022, 01:07:31 AM
As Satoshi said:
Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone.

That was basically his attitude, and I do believe he factored this in, I actually think Satoshi was quite aware that we would be able to pretty much scale Bitcoin better than any existing currency using Satoshi's as we know of them today. We don't need to deal in whole numbers in the future, and if we want to see the price of Bitcoin continue to increase when compared to other traditional fiats, we definitely won't be using whole numbers in the future, well to transact as normal usage that is.

Considering bitcoins I am perfectly sure that Mr. Satoshi is going to hold onto until the supply of the bitcoins finishes perse
Without going down the tin foil hat route, I tend to believe that the most plausible result, is the simplest. So, its highly likely that Satoshi has either lost access to his coins or simply has passed. Otherwise, you'd think he would be actively involved with Bitcoin, and his pretty sudden disappearance doesn't really have a good explanation other than either being physically not able to develop or talk online anymore, i.e prison or he's passed away.

The only other possible explanation to me is Satoshi decided to distance themselves from Bitcoin, as Bitcoin could have been branded criminal if Satoshi ever had any convictions, which may have stunted the growth or the initial adoption, although I think Bitcoin has largely separated itself from their identity now, and yet still nothing.
2035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union | League // Super |Sixes|Sevens | Pro14 | Cups & Tours | Olympics. on: March 25, 2022, 01:01:39 AM
As predicted from the first game in the tournament France win for the first time in 12
years. They looked pretty much in control of yesterdays match and sealed the win 25-13

Ireland picked up some silverware too by sealing the Triple Crown trophy.
I'm thinking this could be the very start of a bit of French dominance. They've always had the capability, I've just felt they've lacked that team belief, and the discipline to pull it off in previous years. Seems they're finally getting to the bottom of those issues, and not only will they be successful in future Six Nations, I think they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the World Cup.

Wales obviously started a pretty grim period with our top players nearing retirement, and obviously losing our best ever coach. This Six Nations results probably a indicator to what is to come for Welsh rugby for the next few years at least. England rugby not looking as good as it was a few years ago, and probably suffering from the same fate as Wales. Ireland, and Scotland back on the up. Italy, apart from a few key players look largely the same. Maybe, a little improvement, and I know they beat us, but that isn't saying much with the way we've been playing.
2036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 25, 2022, 12:54:04 AM
Wales or should I say Gareth Bale did good too, to have championed this game once more for his country as always. Seems today wasn't one of those days for CR7. Not having to produce a goal nor an assist, not his regular but the important thing was winning g all 3 points and that is done.
As the saying goes from Gareth bale's banner he held up (info); "Wales, Golf, Madrid. In that order". The man is just on a completely different level playing for Wales. Its just a shame his career never amounted to what it should have, and that's saying something because hes obviously achieved a  lot in his career. I just think he could have truly become a great, if it wasn't for his injuries. The man practically carries Wales, okay not quite we do have quite a few good players, but Bale is the belief, and the cog that makes it work, and then man to get us out of a pickle every now, and again.

Might be the Welsh in me speaking, but I genuinely believe Gareth Bale could have been on Ronaldo's level or at the very least mentioned in the same sentence when comparing the greats of the game, if it wasn't for his injury record.
2037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 25, 2022, 12:50:55 AM
I think you are too dramatic. Of course you can see which fighter fights for money and which is a real warrior. However, it cannot be said that the majority fight only for the money. Certainly it is important for most of them, because it is in some way their job, so financial bonuses are always attractive. However, there are still fighters who do it out of passion and not just to stuff their pockets with dollars.
You'll probably find a lot of the fighters themselves will openly admit to fighting for the money. Otherwise, they would just be training in their local gym. I'm not claiming that they started mixed martial arts because they needed money, but most guys in the UFC are motivated by money. Legacy isn't worth much these days, and is often hyped up way too much by us fans. Even some of the best fighters across sports have admitted money being the primary driving factor.

I don't think that's a bad thing in todays world, most of us are driven by money. Unfortunately, the types of people who enter the UFC are usually those that are struggling. Look at most champions these days, they were struggling. Conor also came from a poor background, and was struggling in life before taking the UFC by storm. Its that determination to better oneself that really helps a fighter I think.
2038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 25, 2022, 12:47:28 AM
It depends on what teams are playing. There's so many irrelevant matches these days with the Nations League and then they still even have friendlies. I really don't care to watch England pay San Marino or Andorra and there's only so many countries in Europe so there's a lot of minnows. Even the qualifiers aren't usually interesting.
Yeah, I did enjoy catching some of the game tonight with Wales, that's only because there's something riding on it though, something which we haven't qualified for quite some time. Although, it still isn't a big deal to me. I don't know why exactly, its just different. I do enjoy the world cup, but other than that including the euros, I'm just not interested.

I don't know if its a bit differnt with Wales, since we aren't likely to win anything meainingful its nice to see us get results from pure determination, and passion. However, I've tried watching other teams, and I just can't, whereas I'll happily watch other Premier League, and Championship games.
2039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 24, 2022, 12:35:27 AM
International break sucks. For me as long as Kane and Son do not get injured I am happy. South Korea has a tough game against Iran and that is the games I always worry about. Kane is great but Son is the most important player for me.
It's the only sport for me, that I couldn't care less about international fixtures. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of the world cup, but other than that I'm not all that bothered. I obviously like to see Wales win, and do well in the competitions, but the same amount of passion that I have in boxing, MMA or Rugby just isn't there in the internationals for football. I much prefer club football, maybe because the level is higher? I don't exactly know the reason, but it seems that most football fans see it this way.

The biggest issues about internationals for me is that almost every single time a key player gets injured.
2040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 24, 2022, 12:30:47 AM
That's true...  And compare the skill level of the fighters today to the 'imma die in the ring' fighters.  Chances are the average fighters today will most likely beat the average fighters of the previous generation.  It's not that the fighters today got soft, they're just smarter these days.  And the trainees have gotten smarter and more scientific in taking care of the guys in their stables too.

Anyway, I haven't seen any predictions and picks for the events yet.  C'mon boys, let's have them.  Smiley
That's true almost sport wide, over time the competitiveness gets more, and therefore the prepareness or how well drilled a team is as an example increases. We see it in football, where teams at the bottom of the league can beat the ones at the top, that's because there's not a massive difference in quality, I know that sounds weird to say, since it does appear sometimes that there is, but there's really not. If both teams played to their best ability on the day, it would be somewhat close.

Same with the UFC, today we are seeing that unranked fighters can, and do give ranked fighters a problem, even highly ranked. That's why we rarely see total dominance in the UFC. We could say that Khabib had some sort of dominance, but my argument would be he didn't have enough fights in the UFC or MMA to truly know that. Sambo, and wrestling is totally different, you can mitigate a lot of things, that's how we see even basicly trained BBJ practitioners avoid getting submitted by the highest belts. However, you can't mitigate a flying back fist out of nowhere, or a flying knee within a couple of seconds of the fight starting. MMA brings that unpredictability that basically means you'll eventually lose.

In boxing you can largely mitigate these threats, but the threats are still there. I remember one fight, but can't for the life of me remember the fighters, it was somewhat recent, as in a couple of years. A fighter basically dislocated his shoulder which means he couldn't use it to defend or attack, but he ended up knocking his opponent out anyways. That's the unpredictable eliminate of boxing, when you mix in all the other limbs you can use in MMA, things become very unpredictable quick.
