2122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: September 27, 2020, 09:58:20 AM
Honestly I never expect Everton to top the table at this moment, ...

To be honest, this should come as no surprise. After three matchdays, any one of the 20 teams could be at the top of the list. That is nothing special. And the opponents of Everton so far with Crystal Palace, WestBrom and Tottenham (is no longer the top team of the past years) were not a big challenge for a team with Champions League ambitions. I expect Everton to fall behind in the next few games (playing against Liverpool and ManU) and end up somewhere between 5-10th at the end of the season.
2123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT TYPE OF CRYPTO INVESTOR ARE YOU? on: September 26, 2020, 09:35:47 AM
I used to be a newbie but I was naive and invested in some hype projects but now I prefer research and become a value investor and invest in fundamentally strong projects .

I think almost all investors have gone through this phase at the beginning. With the exception of the investors who only had Bitcoin as an investment object at the very beginning of crypto  Cheesy It would be interesting to get more information about what you mean by "fundamentally strong projects". What are your decision factors to identify such projects?
2124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 26, 2020, 09:30:39 AM
Bayern was better throughout the game and deserves the trophy. Sevilla was decent and played to their strengths, but it was always about Bayern.

If you look at the whole game, Bayern was clearly the better team. Sevilla got a controversial penalty. You can see it as a foul, but just as well as a normal duel. After that, mainly Bayern controlled the gameplay and had some good chances. Sane's goal was regular and actually Bayern should have won the game within the regular play time. In the end Sevilla still had a big chance, but you could see how the striker lost his temper when he suddenly saw Manuel Neuer in front of him  Cheesy All in all it was not an outstanding game, but Bayern deserved to win.
2125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: September 26, 2020, 09:23:54 AM
Since I didn't have time to bet for the cup matches during the week, I'm looking forward to the third matchday in the Premier League.

Brighton vs Manchester United # win of ManU @ 1.72

WestBrom vs Chelsea # win of Chelsea @ 1.45

ManCity vs Leichester # double Chance Leichester @ 3.53
Usually I would go for a win of ManCity. But ManCity announced today that Jesus is injured and now the team does not have a real good striker for the upcoming match. Therefore I give Leichester a chance to achieve at least a draw. The odds are good as well.
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi - the niche within a niche and incredibly small community on: September 26, 2020, 08:46:43 AM
If that is true, DeFi is like a sandbox game, with a very limited amount of players actually playing. Observing this from outside the crypto bubble it´s concerning that DeFi, while a good idea and worth investing, has such a small holders community.

Could that be a problem in the long run?

For me, DeFi is nothing else than ICO 2.0. So it is possible to learn from the experience of the ICO hypes of 2017 and 2018 and transfer this to DeFi to a large extent. At that time it was also the case that the very largest part of the ICO project was in the hands of only a few. Only a small part was really sold to small investors and given as bounties. This pushed up the price and kept it high for a while. After the peak of the ICO hype had been reached and it was clear to most that this would no longer work well, the few then dumped their shares, which then led to the enormous losses in value and for many such projects virtually the downfall. The same will happen when the DeFi bubble will burst sooner or later. Maybe not as blatant as three years ago, but similar.
You are absolutely right and I also believe that there is a certain similarity between the ICO and the current DeFi project, especially their main similarity is that in a short period you can earn very big money if you invest your funds correctly. Some DeFi projects have already managed to show almost 1000 percent growth in price to date, and you need to be careful, because the trend can change very much.

Not only that, there are also examples of Scam-DeFi projects which suddenly showed up in Telegram channels without having a whitepaper, a PoC and roadmap promising an airdop which could only be conducted when a certain amount of money is collected before, and after the money was collected (I still wondering who sends money to such scammy projects) the project disappeared.

-snip-

2128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: September 26, 2020, 07:50:57 AM
There's a bitcoin reference in the very first episode of Future Man :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rTcnXPesxs

And there are A LOT of crypto references in the 5th season of Billions. Axelrod has invested in a mine which gets closed by the authorities and his son uses his school's electricity to try and mine some crypto.

Thanks for reporting! I am going to add it to the list Smiley Do you know the season and episode of this snippet or is it a movie?

There is also: "United Colors of Bitcoin" (on youtube).

Did a quick search. Do you mean this short documentary? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6sOFXHlhuE

as a fan of the big bang theory series, I think that this series is the closest representation of us (at least me).
they are nerds, tech geeks, and enthusiasts.
I believe that the early members of this forum were here because of the technology too, they were enthusiastic about a new thing.
you guys, should watch that series.

I am a fan of Big Bang Theory. But with the exception of one episode (which is already in the list) the series does not deal with Bitcoin and crypto currencies, although one might expect this from nerds more often.

2132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why don't you stop rushing to promote bounty from a scammed bounty manager on: September 23, 2020, 02:52:41 PM
I do not agree with that. Why should the bounty manager be punished? He's just doing a job and is a service provider. As long as he gets the bounties, holds them well and then distributes them properly to the participants, he is doing a good job. It can and should not be his job to check whether this is a scam project or not. Often it is also not immediately obvious if a service is legit or not. In my opinion it is rather the responsibility of the users who participate in the bounty campaign. In the end they are the ones who advertise the service and make others aware of it.
2133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 23, 2020, 08:25:19 AM
I sent ER20 token this morning. I thought $2,5 of transaction fees are enough but it seems it wasn't. The transaction has been pending since five hours now. Is there any way to speed up the confirmation for example by sending further tx fee (I sometimes use this in Bitcoin when a transaction is stuck)?

If you are using metamask there's an easy way to fix that just go-to activity and click speed up or cancel the transaction but, if you sent it using a normal wallet then you need to resend the transaction with the same nonce with but with a higher gas fee.

I used my Ledger Nano wallet. In the meanwhile (after almost seven hours) the transaction was rejected and marked as failed. So I can spend my tokens again, but if this happens again in the future, is there also a method to speed up transactions which were sent with Ledger Nano wallet?
2134  Economy / Gambling / Re: Anybody knows Wbet7 admin? I'll give you 0.02 BTC on: September 23, 2020, 08:19:09 AM
I've lost.money here hundreds of times then there was never an issue but first time I earned and they behaving like this .

Well, this is a typical behaviour of scams. It sounds devastating now, but I wouldn't get my hopes up about getting that money back. Scams also don't care if you complain in Bitcointalk or anywhere else. They will stop the service sometime and start a new business.

I took a look at the site and it shows so many red flags why you should not use it. The license in Bolivia (very strange), the technical support guy who can't help you, probably there is only one person behind the project and he is using the "shift of responsibility" method to keep you and his scam going until he can close the project down.

Furthermore, the site does not offer "affiliates" (it says so but there is no page for it), the design is minimal and comes from the service that sells the betting script. So no great effort was made.

I can continue the list a little more. In short: It's a scam, write off your money and learn from it not to bet on such dubious sites.

2137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: September 22, 2020, 10:21:45 AM
If Ronaldo had been 5 years younger at the time of his transfer to Juventus, there might have been a chance to win the Champions League. Now Ronaldo does not even show 50% of the game that he showed in Real.

I don't see Ronaldo as bad as you do. Of course he has grown older and of course he is no longer at the peak of his performance, but he is still an exceptional player who can decide matches on his own. I think he has held up better than Messi. The problem is that he has a worse overall team around him in Turin than at Real Madrid. I think this is the reason why it is unlikely that he will win the CL again. With Real Madrid I would easily believe that he could do that again.
2138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: September 22, 2020, 10:13:16 AM
You forget one point, even though it is very rare to happen. Donations. If you put your Bitcoin address in your profile (or in your signature) and you write very good articles (i.e. in the highly technically focused subcategories), it can happen that a generous donor donates a few mBTCs to you. This happened to me once a few years ago. Admittedly Bitcoin was worth less then, but there are still some big whales in the forum who don't mind donating $100 or more in BTC if they are excited about a contribution.

2140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherum Fees Double In a Week As DeFi Heats Up on: September 21, 2020, 02:10:27 PM
The average fee for transactions on Ethereum has reached its second-highest level ever, after setting the record earlier this month.

In brief

The average Ethereum transaction fee rose to more than $11, more than double last week’s figure.
Daily average fees still haven’t dipped below $2, continuing a record-breaking streak.
More hash power is being added to the network.

Want to read more?- Go through the link- https://decrypt.co/42365/etherum-fees-double-in-a-week-as-defi-heats-up

The situation reminds me strongly on the peak of the ICO hype in 2017 and 2018, when the transaction fees in Ethereum were also extremely high on some days and were partly unaffordable. The fact that this situation is recurring now, three years later, shows how little progress Ethereum (and crypto in general) has made in handling larger transaction volumes. The mainstream adaption is still a long way off and I doubt if the switch to PoS can change that.
