1121  Economy / Economics / Re: Masters in Blockchain and Digital Currency on: September 04, 2021, 10:21:11 AM
I'm now graduating from a BSC in Business Administration, and as I've mentioned in another thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355827.0), I'm pretty clueless on how to continue from there, as I haven't decided what I like or can see myself doing in the future. I've stumbled upon a Master’s Degree, in Blockchain and Digital Currency.

The knowledge you can get from those expensive university degrees, you can also get from a varity of online course which mostly are also offered by notably universities for a part of the money. Just look at MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) sites like coursera.org, edx.org or udacity.com. They all offer courses and certificates in the blockchain space. Some are even free.
1122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Afghanistan replace afghan currency with Bitcoin? on: September 04, 2021, 10:17:25 AM
Bitcoin may gain legitimacy in the country to recover from the economic crisis after the country was occupied by the Taliban. Moreover, the economic source of the Taliban must come from another border country. So for their economic prosperity, the government of the country is more focused on legalizing bitcoin. You can know all the details through the video link below. I hope you will watch the full video and you will find the video source at the link below.

Does not make sense at all. Although almost everyone in Afghanistan owns a cell phone and it would be possible in principle, it makes no economic sense. For several reasons: First, Bitcoin is currently highly deflationary. Afghanistan's economy is in the dumps. An inflationary monetary policy is needed. On the other hand, Bitcoin is not suitable for daily transactions. Just imagine a farmer wants to buy a bag of vegetables for $5 (which is a lot of money in Afghanistan anyway) and pays $10 transaction fees on it.
1123  Economy / Economics / Re: A way to make money online? on: September 03, 2021, 12:09:48 PM
Im looking for a way to make money online. I have a website in development but I would like to find a way to make some extra cash while the website is in development. I would just like it to not be Surveys, or Dropshipping. Got any ideas?

Honestly, there are thousands of ways to make money on the Internet. But you have to realize that there is a lot of competition in the "seemingly" easy ways. The competitive pressure on the Internet is now immense. So you need an idea or skills that not many have to stand out and to get a permanent good side income.
1124  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador retirees protest against Bitcoin as legal tender on: September 03, 2021, 12:00:47 PM
Another BS, money laundering is much easier to get caught if they use bitcoin because there's a public ledger that helps you trace the suspicious transactions. It's normal that the prices are volatile, that's how it is plus why do they make a big deal out of bitcoin, as if it's the only thing that matters in El Salvador.

It's kind of funny that this narrative can still be maintained so successfully. After all, it has been shown in recent years that Bitcoin is rather disadvantageous for money laundering. Cash is much better for that. Even a former senior FBI official said in an interview that Bitcoin is rather a blessing for law enforcement agencies in this matter.

Here is also an interesting article about it:

1125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 03, 2021, 11:54:58 AM
Not sure what this is supposed to achieve - to curb underage gambling perhaps?

I personally think that this is not going to be effective whatsoever. Teenagers can stay up late too, you know?

The problem is that - not only in Spain, but also in other countries - gambling addiction has increased among many due to the lockdown period and due to the pandemic. In some cases even drastically. This is shown by several studies that have been published recently. I assume that this rule is a reaction to that. Whether it will be successful, though, I doubt. Since certainly many do not start betting just because it is on any jerseys.
1126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: September 03, 2021, 11:51:47 AM
What makes you seem so sure the game will be a draw? In fact, Dortmund's first away match against Freiburg was a 2-1 loss and that is a result that is not much different when viewed from the head to head.
Dortmund have problems to keep their performance stable. Because they fail to do it, they fail to compete with Bayern in Bundesliga. Bayern can win Bundesliga even if they lose two direct matches with Dortmund.

Dortmund are a strong team this season. They have scored 9 goals in 3 matches. It is easy to assume that the players of their forwards are strong enough. But their defense is not equally strong. They have conceded 6 goals in 3 matches. They cannot be stable without strengthening the defense.

Dortmund scored nine goals in three games, but also conceded six, that's two goals per game, and that's against rather mediocre teams. It will be exciting to see how Dortmund performs when they have to play against a first-class team. The next two games against Leverkusen and Besiktas in the CL will show this. Dortmund continues to have the problem they had last season. A strong offense but a rather weak defense.
1127  Economy / Economics / Re: The first rule of investing is saving on: September 03, 2021, 11:41:07 AM
I'm very interested in the topic you created to remind us to continue investing in the future. What is clear for myself before I invest I settle all my bills. After all is done I will invest 20% every result of my hard work.
The savings rate of an individual for investment depends on the fluctuations of income and expenditure of the people, so people make less decisions by rushing on the facilities available in a particular sector. If one can make a habit of saving one fourth of one's income 20-25 per cent of one's income regularly then one does not have to fall into poverty in later life.

Well, I wouldn't say that and it also depends on where you live. In the U.S., for example, certain strokes of fate can quickly cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. And then even a small saved-up fortune can quickly be gone. For example, if you fall ill with a serious illness that requires very expensive medication and your health insurance only covers part of it. This is not as rare as you might think. Or you are involved in a traffic accident in which the court assigns you a (partial) guilt, then you can quickly have to pay millions in damages.

If you say your platform is "fraud free" then you also should "fraud free" this thread by deleting all your sock puppet accounts which create silly posts here to push this thread.
Also, for a platform with these claims, you offer relatively little information in your opening post.
1130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Playoffs on: September 01, 2021, 02:47:11 PM
It was the draw for the group stage of the Champions League.

I think group A and group E are two groups that will probably be very competitive.

What do you think?

It's funny that both moneybags (Manchester City and PSG) fell into the same group. I understand that this is unrealistic, but I will hope that Leipzig and Bruges will leave Group A in the next round. In general, I must note that all groups are rather boring except for group B, almost everywhere it is clear who will take the first two places.

I had the same thought, but I think Leipzig will not play a role in the CL this year. Over the past 14 month they have lost a bunch of key players. First Timo Werner went to Chelsea, then their successful coach Nagelsmann and finally "chief of defensive" Ubamecano and central playmaker Sabitzer (all three went to Bayern). I think Leipzig will need one or two years to build a new good team that can surprise in the CL again.

The most exciting and balanced group in my opinion is group B with Atletico, Liverpool, Milan and Porto.
1131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mini documentary on: September 01, 2021, 02:37:49 PM
There is too much focus on the price.

It is to be expected when the channel name is D&D Finance - Stocks & Cryptos.

It is a nice little documentary but as odolvlobo correctly noted it is much focused on price and trading. I was thinking about to add it to my collection thread, but I would not recommend it to someone else who would like to get a short introduction to Bitcoin, so I decided to not add it. There are now much better short films on Youtube that give a much broader spectrum of Bitcoin.

1133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 31, 2021, 02:40:49 PM
Still one and a half hours to go util the transfer period is closed. So far, there seems to be no big surprise left. Neither Erling Haaland nor Kilian Mbappe seem to leave their clubs yet. Maybe it was just a trial for both of them to prepare the actual transfer during the winter break.

I manage my Waves token and Waves-based assets I own with waves.exchange in my browser. Now I wanted to connect Vires.finance with my account, but each time I click on "connect"-button on Vires.Finance and type in my waves.exchange password I get the message "Waves Keeper login rejected". I do not have Waves Keeper addon installed on my browser. Do I need to install it to get the connection? If so, why does it not work by just being logged into my waves.exchange account in the browser?

I don't have enough experience with Vires.Finance, but if you log in with Waves Keeper, you need to install the Waves Keeper plugin.

Thank you!
I think I need to rephrase my question. The question was if I can connect Vire.finance directly to my Waves.exchange account without using Waves Keeper? Or do I need to install Waves Keeper and import my Waves account seed there to be able to connect Vires.finance with my Waves account?
1135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 30, 2021, 10:46:48 AM
Transfer rumours:

Real Madrid have given Paris St-Germain until Sunday to accept their bid for France forward Kylian Mbappe, as the Spanish club are not willing to offer more than 190m euros (£163m) for the 22-year-old. Will the clubs eventually agree or will this saga continue until next year?  Grin
Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, will become the highest-paid player in Premier League history when he completes his move from Juventus to Manchester United. Will he also become the greatest player in Premier League history?  Grin
Manchester United are planning to make a late move for 30-year-old England right-back Kieran Trippier, with Atletico Madrid said to be demanding 40m euros (£34.3m) for the former Tottenham player. Manchester United are bringing in a lot of new players again but will it help them to finally win the national championship?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/58371837

I'm a big fan of Ronaldo, but I would be surprised if he now becomes the highest paid player in the league. Undoubtedly he is the greatest player but age + general crisis situation in football in my opinion should reduce the appetites of all players. Now is not the time for records (at least until the launch of the Super League).

In sporting terms, signing Ronaldo makes little sense for ManUnited. Here it was probably more about the brand and the prestige that Ronaldo will bring. Ronaldo is a global brand and ManUnited has been overshadowed by ManCity in recent years. So from a marketing perspective, the signing makes sense. From a sporting and financial perspective, it doesn't.

so i had the same problem last year and then switched to the wallet galleon. but this is a desktop wallet, which is very easy to set up and use.
https://cryptonomic.tech/galleon.html
also had no problems with this wallet until now

Thanks cygan! Still would prefer a web-based option but I will take a look at the desktop wallet you recommend. Did you use it with Legder Nano or without (seed-based)? Currently, I do not manage my Tezos with Ledger and I do not plan to transfer them.

Did someone realize that this thread is 5+ years old and has now be reactivated just to answer a question which got asked thousand times since then?

But back to the actual topic: I got my first Bitcoin very early (around end 2011) for completing a little programming job for someone in the community. It was a simple script someone required and he paid me a couple of Bitcoins (not exactly sure how much, but it was like 5+ Bitcoins). Today they would be worth a fortune  Grin

1140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 28, 2021, 01:57:57 PM
The match Bayern vs. Berlin tonight will be interesting. Berlin has not scored a point in the first two matchdays, despite the great ambitions and the money invested, and is currently last in the table. A defeat against Bayern could make the false start perfect. Bayern must get at least one point so that they do not lose early connection to the top. Did not think that a game so early in the season can already be decisive.
