Being banned doesn't make their opinion or feedback any less valid.

Nor does it make the opinions or feedback of those that should be banned any more valid.
2823  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Product Failures / Underperformance. on: December 01, 2013, 05:34:52 AM
Instead of buying a BFL Single for $1200, I bought 50 BTC. I still have them. They don't hash well, but they have made me very happy.

+1

Watch those posts disappear soon Xian01... or potentially the users get banned.

Doesn't it seem like there are performance and failure problems with their products based on the volume of reports?

You can't go back in time. Only forward.   Cool

There is no such thing as time.

2828  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [HALTED] Bitmine CoinCraft 28nm chip distribution (December W50, 42.5BTC/THps) on: November 30, 2013, 10:09:48 AM
We got a chip reference spec that was updated not sure if it is in github. I will post the link here we are all about the sharing and I'm sorry if this was not released to everyone. I assumed it was.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3u-c97pGdlfcGlkSHBQLWVRUlE/edit?usp=sharing

This was related to what our Hardware Lead EE asked for in terms of specs to be shown and BitMine did alter the design to take into consideration what he voiced about the spacing and size of the pads on the chip. This should make things when designing the PCB slightly easier and improve the fabrication and the reliability of the pcb / chip contact. If you want more info on that aspect feel free to join the discussion on our project with the EE on Saturday, 1800 Seattle time. PM me your email and I can add you as lurker to our project page and you can join the meeting Saturday if you want.

Did anyone else get this? Or is it added to the documents on github? If not someone should ask Giorgio to do that as soon as possible.

--------

[Edit] I do not see this revision on the github doc. Need to make sure that they add this information to the page. Zefir found it thanks Zefir.

2831  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [The Wasp] 28nm ASIC Miner Open Hardware Development Project on: November 30, 2013, 07:22:40 AM
This is a very interesting project.
I'd be happy to help out if you could use it.
I'm a second year EE at university, so I could theoretically be of use.

Drop me an email I am sure our EE's would love to help mentor new EE's like yourself. Some of them have over 40 years experience!
2832  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL has Black Friday SALE!!! Be careful on: November 30, 2013, 03:27:00 AM
LOL they said delivery was December dot dot dot they also said they would tape out in August.

Have you been following this?

Umm that means they are already what 6 months into this venture if March is the date they think it will drop?

Don't get caught up in their games. Seriously just go buy BTC or FRC or something else or from KnC or take a less risky investment and try Black Arrow or BitMine.

we'll see. it is all a gamble!

Less of a gamble and more of a waste of coin and time if you deal with BFL. Just think of the man hours people put into trying to get a straight answer from them on shipping dates, rma and refunds. Millions lost. Just don't buy BFL save yourself the hassle. Then no one here needs to warn people off BFL. Problem resolved.

Yep, I just ordered another Monarch 600 with the 25% discount.

Let the flaming begin.

Let's take a look

Monarch: $3510 for 600 GH/s due in Feb.
BA: $4799 for 2000 GH/s due in Feb.

Why would you waste your money like that?

Then look at the fine print at BFL site.

15 weeks from when TAPE OUT finishes. Tape out ain't finished.

That is March or later not February.

who says that they hasn't taped out till now? you know that for sure?
and the "fineprint" is deleted from they site, it was from july and maybe very outdated.

It is for them to PROVE tape out not me.

As for evidence they already REMOVED the info on 10 weeks + 2 weeks + 3 weeks after tapeout.

I do love a company that 'refines' it's pages.

Code:
Pre-Order Terms: This is a pre-order. 28nm ASIC bitcoin mining hardware
products are shipped according to placement in the order queue, and delivery may
take 3 months or more after order. All sales are final.

Still a nice big WARNING and dates that are clearly stated.

3 MONTHS OR MORE. ALL SALES FINAL.

Given the 10 weeks at FOUNDRY they stipulated that won't change and that can't happen unless they have taped out. They have yet to prove any tape out has happened. 3 months or more is what you need to key in on. Closer to 4 months given their past timeline.

March or April for the first few developer, friends and family units then the rest that come off the line go for "burn-in" and you will see your Monarch maybe June? July? 2014. If the line for orders of this product is long, people are certainly either, ill informed or trapped in the never ending upgrade loop.
2835  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Product Failures / Underperformance. on: November 30, 2013, 02:07:10 AM
Did you have any issues with the product itself?

Like to keep the trolls off the thread and get back on topic.

Slok sounds like dot dot dot

Where are we on finding some more BFL product failures and underperformance? Sort want to keep on topic don't we?

One of them was defective and mined only 200 MH/s for some reason. But the other three got about 6 GH/s. I waited for a response to my emails, and mined.

There is a pattern developing here right?

Well we discuss it Saturday at the meeting thanks for the heads up.
2840  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Product Failures / Underperformance. on: November 29, 2013, 12:41:01 PM
I agree about the hardware, but not about the part they play in this community. They are the largest power provider to the network. And we like tinkering anyhow so the hardware issue is not a real problem. Replacing thermal pads was the most fun I had in days!

If you wan't me to give credit to someone else it's zTex, he's an incredible man!

Well that is where do not see eye to eye KnC has surpassed them on that many weeks ago.

Particularly how they have poisoned the well on refunds and pre-orders and their general disregard for FTC regulations. There are more of a hinderance to global acceptance of bitcoin if you ask me. Nothing in their business practice points to that changing.

ztex, fpgamining, and others deserve a nod. BitFury could take a few nods as well for his chip, KnC for theirs... many others out there do more for the community than BFL without the vitriol and lies.
