This company's rating has changed in the Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide.

I like this feature... will you do this when you update all manufacturers?

1844  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 3 release countdown on: April 20, 2014, 10:45:10 PM
Loshia is on my ignore for a reason and we will leave it at that. He has little of interest to add to my motives for being pissed off at Avalon.

I stand by my statement and as a former customer of Avalon if they want to rehab their rep in this community they might want to start again with an explanation and an apology. I doubt that will happen but let us see what they say. Unlike others I would not and have not used Avalon chips because of the damage it has caused so many good engineers. Removing a negative trust rating for Ngzhang is dependant on his actions with regards to coming clean to the community and making amends. That is the least they could do given the millions lost and has absolutely nothing to do with me personally but has to do with the fact I was also WRONGED as a customer and it almost cost our group 160,000 USD in losses. You won't see me lining up for Avalon, Hash Fast or BFL chips free or not as I would avoid them at all costs and have avoided them at all costs because ethically it is the right thing to do.

Now Loshia... he doesn't seem to mind dealing with people that are ethically challenged as a early and ardent supporter of BFL and more recent support of others who have questionable records in dealing with customers he should watch throwing stones in the glass house he lives in.

1846  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Special Group Buy - Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order] ***EASTER WEEK SALE*** on: April 20, 2014, 10:40:24 AM
Not sure this was asked and answered and my apologies in advance if it was... what if the people pledging do not pay spondoolies for the units? Fore example if 255 units are pledged before the deadline but only 240 are actually paid for do we all still get the 250 unit volume pricing?

+1
I also think like you and Spondoolies can give some if...else for this situation asap.
Good one. We trust the people will honour their pledge.
We'll start collecting after reaching the 250 mark. We'll start collecting according to the deal RoadStress negotiated, e.g. the discounted pricing.
If people won't honour the pledge, we won't ask for the higher price. However ,we will be disappointed.
You trust us with your pre-order. We want to trust you to honour the deal.
spoondoolies, as someone pointed out earlier, I love the honeymoon phase, its always the best. Promises to the moon, thank you! And I don't think you'll have a prob. with payments, hell I've been pondering units 2 and 3.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will bring that to the attention of the Freicoin miners / pools group I am working with on this and we are hoping to get 4 x SP30s pledged and money collected.
1847  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Sue BFL? on: April 20, 2014, 10:33:38 AM
Do any BFL customers want to sue BFL?

I ordered my cloud mining service at BFL in Dec 2013. At that moment, it claimed that the company will provide the service in Jan and Feb time frame. However, until now, i still cannot get my product.

I know now the company is trying to provide some compensations to its customers, however, only for the orders having 6 month waiting period from March 4, 2014.

It is totally unfair to me and other customers like me.

More and more miner makers got sued due to delayed shipment and dishonest/misleading statements.

i am in Canada. if anyone wants to contact me, please send me email at shiyx2000@hotmail.com

I am seeking the possibilities to sue them at small claim court as my order is just at around $2000.

Class action is starting.
1848  Other / Meta / Re: Sorry Phinnaeus Gage, you are banned from using this forum! Trolling on: April 20, 2014, 10:17:40 AM
If I were the mods I'd nuke his post history and give him a fresh account. If he wants to change his ways to something that isn't considered horrific spamming then he can do so.

NUKE IT!
On the contrary, I've seen repeatedly that the old adage "A leopard cannot change its spots" is very true and eventually everyone gravitates back to their original nature. Having his post history - not just the number of posts but more importantly their content - in the open for everyone to see is far more useful.

Meh.

Nukem or just bust em down to Newbie again... 6 minutes per post... hmmm?
Huh. That's an interesting alternative to banning. "Restricted." You can only post once per 6 minutes, or once per 12 hours to really make it count.

That be better for a spammer... limit post per day. That to me is a much more effective use of the "ban" hammer. Shit wish they'd do that for the trust system as well so that these BFL shills posting positive and negative trust each day.
1849  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 3 release countdown on: April 20, 2014, 10:02:03 AM
Avalon has moved to an in stock only model now, and Yifu isn't a part of the team any more. The people who are left are the engineers who made the magic happen back in 2013 and do NOT have money. Yifu walked away with it, yet the engineers trying to run a real business get the flak from his actions.

All deference to the new look of Avalon. How about they come clean about what went on. Apologize to the community in no uncertain terms then we can start talking about trust and getting all warm and fuzzy again about their business model of instock shipping right?

I think the community is owed a reasonable explanation of what the hell happened to the Batch 3 and the chips and how the removal of Yifu has rectified that from ever happening again. Yes I am still bitter over the millions people lost in the chip fiasco some good EE's and DIY teams were taken out of circulation due to Avalon. BuzzDave had to prove through actions to rehab his reputation but he also came CLEAN with his participation in the BAsic failure. We have yet to see that from Avalon or any Avalon spokesmen.

We all know people who purchased parts for miners in good faith that Avalon was going to deliver chips on time. They didn't and millions were lost. What has Avalon done since that event to garner trust from this community? That is where many people are at this point and it is really up to Avalon to state why this happened and how it will never happen again. Till then I think it is very prudent to steer clear of Avalon and that comes from personal experience as an Avalon chip buyer who did get a full refund and was very lucky not to have ordered parts for miners but it was darn close. Still no reasonable explanation has been made for the lack of communication to all the emails we sent requesting information on our orders. Have they solved that problem? Will they be more responsive? Or are we going to get the same sort of customer service experience this time? How have they changed?

Here is a perfect opportunity to answer all these questions and state their case. Let us see what they do. I am willing to remove my negative trust rating on ngzhang if we see some answers and then give them the benefit of the doubt moving forward. I'd hope that Ngzhang or someone else actually on the Avalon payroll could do that so that we have them on record and can save their statement for posterity.

1851  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 20, 2014, 08:10:41 AM
Investing in BFL hardware doesn't seem any more risky than investing in BTC in the first place. It's a gamble. Don't put in more than you can stand to lose.

Hindsight is 20-20. BFL was an abject failure compared to a straight BTC purchase. Millions were lost in trusting BFL.
1852  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 20, 2014, 08:08:07 AM
I have this feeling that all the idiots who scream that BFL is a scam will just disappear and make new accounts later this year. And there will be a few nuts that believe that hundreds of forum users are being paid by BFL to act like they got working ASIC's.

No some got up and made the effort and started a class action lawsuit... care to admit you were wrong yet?
1853  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 20, 2014, 08:05:03 AM
Thanks Creativex.

I saw it stated somewhere on the forum where the total amount might be near $100 million in pre-orders.  I don't know if that's an exaggeration.
Where you saw statement? $100million is 1000 mini rig + 53850 SC, a bit much?
I wait for 4 avalon unit, 1 bfl mini rig unit.

I have a question regarding the bolded statement -- The guy "running the company" isn't the guy who was convicted of mail fraud.

Actually he was running the company.  As soon as it became known who he was and what he'd done they quickly arranged to transfer the CEO title to somebody else.  Go ahead, look it up.
You say, so you know, so you show?

How do you go from barely able to write English to being an native speaker in a few days? I just can't believe hooked on phonics works so well at BFL. How many accounts did the employees at BFL have to make for Josh and CO.?

I was watching a posting argument between Garr and Inaba where both were throwing so many sock puppet posts so fast I couldn't refresh the screen fast enough to catch it all. Accounts with 1 or 2 previous posts were bringing up very knowledgable counter arguments like they were involved in Bitcoin since Satoshi started it all. lol

Yup... now if anyone has reason to believe that BFL scammed them they should go here and get involved.

http://www.woodlaw.com/cases/butterfly-labs-and-bf-labs-inc-bitcoin-miners

Don't let BFL get away with consumer fraud stand up and fight back.
1854  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Time to sue ButterflyLabs - Big Single-SC owner let's league for class action on: April 20, 2014, 07:55:06 AM
Anyone care to elaborate on the impact of class-action VS regular lawsuit ?
Usually i heard of class-action against big corporations.
What is this going to achieve ? What's the target ?

http://www.woodlaw.com/sites/default/files/casedocs/2014-04-04%20Complaint.pdf <-- read this cover to cover and in particular from point 54 onwards.

Quote
Class Action Allegations

54. Plaintiffs bring this action on their own behalf and on behalf of a class of
all persons similarly situated, pursuant to Rule 23(a) and Rule 23(b)(3). The Plaintiff
Class consists of all persons who pre-paid Defendant for Bitcoin mining equipment.

55. The Plaintiff Class satisfies all of the prerequisites stated in Rule 23(a):
(a) The class is so numerous that joinder of all members would be
impractical. Upon information and belief, members of the class
number in the thousands. The number of class members can be
identified from Defendant’s records.

56. Further, the prosecution of separate actions by individual members of the
class would create a risk of inconsistent or varying adjudications with respect to
individual members of the class, which would establish incompatible standards of
conduct for the party opposing the class.

Then I suggest asking those questions in legal https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=74.0 where you might get a much better answer than you could here.

I'm thinking about joining however I'm not sure I can be of help since my order was a pre-order.

They are gathering info right now on that aspect. Check out the link and get in contact with them.

We are investigating the marketing and advertising practices of the company BF Labs, Inc., which does business under the name "Butterfly Labs". We have received reports that Butterfly Labs, based in Leawood, Kansas, has accepted orders and full pre-payments from consumers for Bitcoin mining hardware, yet failed to deliver the specialized equipment as promised.

Pictures... proof etc.

That does go along way.
1857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Wasp Project Collective Information thread. on: April 20, 2014, 06:02:07 AM
TLDR Minutes of meeting:

+ Work is continuing on the Hammer Hornet design is nearly complete, then work on BE200 Wasp.

+ The search continues for a new design package that is reasonably priced per seat so we can get more EEs at the design table.

+ The Mining Pool is ready for testing although we will need to build a team to help service and maintain it we are currently sourcing new members for that purpose.

+ We will be at Inside Bitcoins HK and it might be possible to have some of our prototype Whiteface boards hashing at Allied Control while we are at the Inside Bitcoins HK conference.

+ We are adding 4 new EEs to the WPC still waiting on them to pay membership.

+ We will have general WPC meetings fortnightly and the interim weeks project teams can meet in their groups to push projects forward.

+ We will be moving forward to setting up our WPC legally by June hopefully.

+ Next general meeting Saturday May 4th, 2014.

What a load of crap here, a fool that was licking that bASIC guy's ass for months, so he choose the wrong horse, same conversion bullshit as for months but not talking/crying for bitcoin when the bitcoin was $3 now, class action haha. That's like the weaker guy shouting "hold me hold me" before I attack the big guy.
Go get a refund, anyone that wants one gets it, be the man or stop pretending to be What's your next option, wait for another chance for an avalon? I was lucky for 4x batch 2, so what will you do, wait, or wait&hope to be lucky?

When did you buy this account? Fun how the style of language changes from barely able to write to BFL Troll amazing.

This program give me always corrupt message, snip

You would know all about corruption.

Butterfly Labs manufacturers and sells Bitcoin mining hardware. Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer payment system and digital currency. Bitcoins are created by "mining", a process where miners receive transaction fees and newly minted bitcoins in return for verifying and recording payments into a public ledger. By design, mining is a computationally intensive process which today requires ASIC-based hardware to be cost effective.

Consumers who ordered and paid for Butterfly Labs equipment, yet failed to receive it by promised dates, are not just out the amount of money paid to Butterfly Labs. Because the computational difficulty of Bitcoin mining increases over time, by the time consumers receive the equipment, if at all, often the equipment has become worthless because mining with the equipment has become economically unviable.

If you have paid for Buttery Labs equipment, yet failed to receive your order or failed to receive it by the promised time, please contact our office using the form below.
