1981  Other / Meta / Re: BFL bringing down the trust rating? on: April 11, 2014, 08:01:08 AM
For example I posted this reply from there and deleted the post I made here from there as well. Like it keeps a record of deletions. I mean if the mods are not interested in setting standards... maybe ced will be at the bitcointa.lk? Be interesting to see how a transition off bitcointalk.org would work using bitcointa.lk.

http://www.woodlaw.com/cases/butterfly-labs-and-bf-labs-inc-bitcoin-miners <-- got anything to add to the case against BFL? If we can't resolve the trust rating issue with Mods doing more we can punish a company that is both abusing this forums policy on spam and nailing to the wall in court for fraud.

What would they be classified under? Idk if you can really bring that to legal status...

Read the case filed here: http://www.woodlaw.com/sites/default/files/casedocs/2014-04-04%20Complaint.pdf

Pretty much outlines what 100s have already posted in these forums and is now going to be argued in court.

The point to their abuse of the trust system is to mainly drive more traffic to their site to get sales. This sort of spam is in direct contradiction of the rules of these forums but I guess the only real way to combat that is put out as much information as possible on how BFL has being carrying out business and let the community decide. It would be helpful if more of the community here did use the trust system appropriately and people like Josh_BFL would have had a -3000 Trust rating over a year ago when the scams he was pulling became apparent.

Time to move to another forum I guess. Bitcointa.lk anyone?

Sent you an email.

The Wasp Project Collective is keen on this deal hope to talk to you soon.
1985  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Wasp Project Collective Information thread. on: April 11, 2014, 02:56:13 AM
im watching this threat, I like the idea of having a board where you can just swap the chips for newer ones

'Threats' aside I hope we don't scare anyone off with this thread.

Note that what we are working on are the boards being swapped not the chips. We will push out 3 or 4 different board designs based on different chips as our design requires slight modifications chip to chip. These multiple boards can work in our single backplane just for clarification.

As easily as people go missing in a city. The world is a pretty large place. There are plenty of aircraft flitting here and there every hour of every day. Fire probably incapacitate the crew or decompression and interrupted the transponder.

But with so many spy satellites (may be hundreds in number) around the world, is it believable that none of them spotted an object as big as this plane?

You don't get 100% coverage of the Earth and spy sats and most are pointed at important things like your backyard or the people that are hiding things they are not trained on civilian flight routes.

You do know the relative size of the Earth to a plane and the coverage a small number of Sats have right? You know that the field of view is also VERY VERY narrow to get hubble like resolution on the ground. To see a PENNY on the ground is one thing when it doesn't move and the sat is whizzing by. Now you want to track a plane that was not on a planned flight route changing altitude etc. Much much harder to find a plane in the sky sans transponder than you think... guess why they have transponders?

Removed the whine Edgar aka randomlove and the 10s of other needless accounts you made. Seriously just go away you racist ignorant slob.

You have been ignored.

What is important is people are reminded and warned off BFL the point of the matter is people can help NAIL BFL for fraud in court. Just look at my sig if you want to join in the party.

1989  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 10, 2014, 10:30:44 AM
Usually, maybe, but not in my case. I don't get paid from anybody to do what I do, nor have ever taken one satoshi as payment, albeit a small handful have donated to Bitcoin 100, et al., letting me know they did such after the fact, but that too is never expected, but much appreciated.

At this penning, I have nothing on Spondoolies (nice word, BTW), albeit three people have emailed me expressing a concern.

Personally, I wouldn't pre-order anything from these guys if I were a miner, for I feel something ain't quite right.

As far as product being delivered on time, that is highly unlikely given that not a single bitcoin miner manufacturer has delivered on time.

I know this is a self-moderated thread, so be forewarned that if any of my posts gets deleted prior to I stating some diatribe (we all hope that such won't be needed and that this outfit proves viable), I will just conduct my investigation a tad sooner.

Meanwhile, I'm curious as to who is doing the actual penning of post under the Spoondoolies user account.

~Bruno Kucinskas

Bruno, but they already did delivered on time. They did it last month, they did it this month and i'm sure they will do it in May too. I DO have a SP10 mining right now and i got it a few days earlier than expected. This is the first time in bitcoin mining history when i see this happen.

Bitmain?
OneStringMiner?

A few other times it has happened.

Here is a map of the international waters (deep blue).

Can anyone recommend me the ideal place to build the bitcoin island?

My choice would be the Saya de Malha Bank, but I am open to other ideas.  Grin

I dont understand how in this day and age a Boeing 777 can drop out of the sky and leave no clues as to where it is.

I see a bunch of speculation from the news agencies regarding the Iranian passengers who used stolen passports to board the plane bla bla bla.

I wonder if its possible that the plane was hijacked, and then was flown low enough as to not appear on radar and landed in some hatred filled country. Like North Korea for example.

Is this possible?

Anyone here have any ideas on what might have happened here. I fly a lot and its beyond me that this can happen.

Any planned updates to the thread BurtW?
2000  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Caveat emptor on: April 10, 2014, 07:53:35 AM
I continue to maintain that thinking of mining in terms of ROI on equipment costs is only one way of thinking about mining for money. As I have said elsewhere mining rigs are tools like mechanic, plumbing, electrician tools. In order to do your job and EARN money you need certain tools. Mechanics, plumbers, electricians, etc. need their tools upfront in order to work and earn income. The cost of tools is simply the cost of doing their particular job and they do not think in terms of ROI on a wrench or a pair of plyers (unless the tool is some major capital asset). They will, of course, for tax purposes, "write" the tools off as an expense but that is purely a tax issue.

Every BTC I earn mining is converted to $$ and is spendable income. I am not interested in "investing" per se except in the broadest sense of investing in the BTC economy. The only mining expense I care about is the cost of electricity which is a fixed utility cost for living. My miners are not really either depreciated or appreciated in their initial value although in truth the value of my mining equipment may go up as BTC prices rise but that is only if I sell my rigs. Additionally, as BTC drops in value relative to $$, my mining equipment (viewed as replacement cost) can, and has, gone down. I buy my rigs when that happens.

I have noticed that in some of the BTC mining calculators that the cost of the mining rigs is used relative to expected BTC earnings over x time. Yet, those calculators never amortize the cost of the machines and that is a flaw. If one is concerned about ROI, then the rigs must be amortized over time, the value simply should not stay the same over x amount of time. That is just a normal "business" accounting practice. But, then again, since I have a different philosophical approach to mining, I could not care less about ROI or amortizing the cost of the machines. As long as they continue to work as a tool, they are are earning.

I make/create between $800-$1500 a month mining. That is money I did not have before and all I do is sit on my butt and check that the units are running properly 2-3 times a day. My machines are paid for out of disposable cash I chose to spend on them. If earning money is your goal, money you did not have before, and all you do is sit there then do it and don't worry about ROI. If you are interested in thinking of mining as an investment, then knock your socks off but you are better off buying stocks and earning dividends. In the mean time I am spending my easily-earned money and I have long ago considered the money spent on the rigs as gone.

Well measured way to look at mining but what is your take on DeathandTaxes post on Break even difficulty by hardware efficiency (power cost = value of BTC)?

or thoughts on BurtW's Projected Minimum Cost per BTC over the next year?
