981  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain Antminer U2 USB Repair, is it possible? on: December 27, 2017, 10:45:06 PM
They are pretty pointless aswell to be honest. Probably wont even cover the cost of the elctricity they use.
982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Powering case fans for a noise reducing enclosure on: December 27, 2017, 09:05:16 PM
So how many 12v fans are you going to need to match the CFM of that many machines in one space?
983  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 27, 2017, 05:56:38 PM
So at 575 that I moved it up to, for my machine that IS over clocked already it sounds like.
Running overnight at 575 my HW = 0.0002%  That is my error rate, right?
So can I assume that due to the lack of errors I'm NOT overtaxing this machine and I can run it here safely long term, or maybe even higher?
How do you really know if you're overworking it other than errors and temp? As long as those are happy is my machine happy?

Thats a good error rate. Your only limting factor now is the psu. What psu are you using?
984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU Question on: December 27, 2017, 04:02:09 PM
Not really. You need to chexk the pinout of the each plug.
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1st Ethereum build problem - only recognizing 1 GPU on: December 27, 2017, 03:59:52 PM
Have you enabled 4G decoding in the bios? Have you set pcie config to gen1 or gen2?
986  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power Antminer S7 with 3 PSUs: Is that possible? on: December 27, 2017, 03:14:12 PM
Not really...
1st you only have 2 PCIE plugs..one PCIE plug can handle only 150Watts....
2nd the PSU has 2 12V rails not one.

You are wrong the EVGA has ONE 12v rail but thats irrelevant as the psu has not got enough connectors and would require adaptors which are just not worth the risk really.
987  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Making little farm at home noise issue on: December 27, 2017, 03:09:05 PM
Yea heres a tip, dont buy them.  They are not HOME miners. They are designed for industrial areas. If you have a waterproof garage and live in a temperate climate then you best bet is plug them in out there. Also make sure whatever electrical circuit you have them running on is able to cope with the 6Kw+ of juice they will be pulling.

Also there is nothing you can buy that will do a decent job of making them quiet. You cannot really chane the fans, you would have to build a soundproof cabinet within a room and have more fans and ducting to provide cool air and exhaust the hot. You will need to work out CFM of the existing miners then work out soze and speed of fans to supply enough airflow.
988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Miner and building a 6 card 1070 ti rig, make sure I don’t screw it up. on: December 27, 2017, 02:29:32 PM
Im currently running 5x EVGA 1070Ti SC and using 720w sonif you are planning on using a 1000w psu you will need to make sure your clocks are as efficient as possible.
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus motherboard won't start gpus from PCI Express x1 on: December 27, 2017, 11:52:13 AM
Have you changed the pcie speed to gen1 or gen2 in the bios/uefi?
990  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 26, 2017, 11:54:33 PM
so the fact that mine is only 54 degrees means i'm not even really 'overclocking" it yet? I'll creep it up to 60 and do some math

No the temp is based on the ambient temp of where the miner is. You can still go over the top woth OC even if its cool. For example, you can OC the S7 and have it sitting in the Arctic and the temp will be ridiculous like 5c but that doesnt mean its not really stressed out.

60c is about the ideal temp to keep them at. If you turned the fan speed down they would get to that temp faster and then get too hot. Its about finding a balance for the temp while simutaneously watching the HW errors and how much power is being drawn so you dont blow your PSU aswell.
991  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Styrofoam noiseproof box for s9 on: December 26, 2017, 10:11:09 PM
It will do a good job of choking your S9 to death.

+1. The airflow path is too restrictive.
992  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: clock speed on s7 ; safe to overclock? on: December 26, 2017, 10:08:21 PM
I see. So I need to do some trial and error and math; Compare Power use at wall (being watched) vs. Q vs. gh/s (while watching temp)

Currently
Q=550m
1258w at wall on 110v USA.
Average = 4,430.55gh/s
temp=50-53

I agree to run this bitch in to the ground. An s7 will likely be irrelevent in a year, so I want to use it for all it's worth.

Is there a calculator to do this, or do I just need my own math?

Thanks all for the help, I appreciate it!

Yea thats basics of overclocking. The more you increase the Freq the more power it uses and the hotter it will run. Most antminers ive had are happiest around the 60c temp mark.  Also watch your HW error rate aswell upto 5% is fine if it starts to increases dramatically then its pointless going that far with the OC.
993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to connect many PCI-E 1X in one PCI-E 16X on: December 26, 2017, 07:47:16 PM
If you have done any research on the forum which is vast, you should quickly realise that ive your suggestion was possible then everyone would be doing it. But instead EVERYONE buys mobos with as many pcie slots as possible or use products that expand existing slots with other pcie hubs.
994  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: How to use escrow service to buy n sell BTC on: December 26, 2017, 07:18:21 PM
Check out my post in this thread:-

Same sort of rules apply for currency exchanges (not including paypal deals as no one can protect someone from a reversal of payment).
995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to connect many PCI-E 1X in one PCI-E 16X on: December 26, 2017, 05:15:34 PM
No
996  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: How does one sell on here? on: December 26, 2017, 12:59:10 PM
As said. Post a picture of what you are selling with your forum name and date on. Guve details about it, i.e any problems it may have (if any), basically be as transparent about it as possible. Use an escrow service such as Ognasty or phillipma1957, who will charge you a fee. They will hold the funds until the person you sell too has comfirmed receipt of the item and it is what you said it was. Then you will get the funds from the escrow.

Its the best way to deal with sales on the forum.
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate not stable in Gtx 1070 on: December 26, 2017, 09:42:34 AM
Ive recently switched to gen2 pcie in the bios settings snd it has sorted a similar provlem i was suffering with.
998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Kkmoon 2600w Dual Server PSU ATX on: December 26, 2017, 12:27:26 AM
As far as I know yes. But I have no experience with this type of unit. Only ATX and server psu with breakout boards and picos
999  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Changing BTC into GBP on: December 26, 2017, 12:26:14 AM
Coinbase account straight to your bank account

I can’t get verified on coinbase and I think they are Eur only

Im in the UK and have no problems.

So whats different between those and this?  Should I stick to ones that clearly look like dual server supplies?

No idea to be honest. The cheap chinese stuff is all a gamble. At least with the dual server psu type you know that youcan swap out the psus for good quality ones and the only failure area is the connectors and the cabling provide by the manufacturer of the unit
