Also, maybe we should all just chill out for a few hours when one of these blocks is not calculated properly. If I learned anything in the last 30 pages of similar comments is that sometimes these blocks take a bit longer to calculate but they always are set straightened out.

I agree on the chill out but not perhaps on the holding off posting.  I suspect these don't self correct, someone is correcting them - I would suggest posting, remaining polite and optimistic they will be fixed (we did have one a few days ago that slipped through, but none since).

BitMinter and 50BTC have also shrunk dramatically. Has ASICMiner moved all their units over there? I was under the impression they were splitting their prowess over a few different pools to keep things kosher. Maybe they'll make a stop at Slush's

Actually, ASICMINER has about 5 TH/s missing from BTC Guild as of this morning.  Not sure if they're having problems, or perhaps are selling older blades where newer ones are expected to run faster/more efficient.  What you see on blockchain.info is basically nothing more than "which pools got lucky".  BTC Guild has shrunk about 15% in the last 12 hours, yet due to good luck (~40% above expectations) it makes it look like we've grown dramatically instead.

http://blockorigin.pfoe.be is a much better site for pool size checking.  The 24 hours on Blockchain.info's graph is impacted *significantly* by pool luck.

Anyone working on client that will connect the upcoming BFL ASICs to Slush's pool?  I have some BFL FPGA's running BitMinter but that doesn't connect to Slush.  Can't get cgminer to run 'em -- error says "need to install USB driver" which has been done -- and I imagine the ASICs will have the same problem.

Are you using the latest cgminer version 3.1.1? It has a dedicated readme for ASICs as well as an executable for non-GPU use. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0. There's also bfgminer, which I have read has better ASIC compatibility, but I have no experience using that at all. There is no need for a new miner.

Ah, I see that even though cgminer says that I must load a Windows USB driver, it doesn't work with the Windows USB driver, and really wants me to use libusb instead.  How clever of the coders 

Hafta reboot to load libusb, but will wait until the current round finishes so I'm not penalized for a disconnect after 2.5+ hours of mining on the gpus.

I have tried to install different drivers for the cards, and I have tried installing a previous version that supports both cards. Neither worked. It seems to be the combination of the new card and anything but the new driver that makes GUIMiner not start.

Now, when I am running only the new card, Phoenix and Stratum Proxy, it stopped working tonight, a few hours after I started it. I restarted the miner this morning and it worked again. I hope it's a one time occurance, but I doubt it. It didn't happen with Phoenix and BCPool. Any guesses?

This happened to me when I upgraded Catalyst from 3.1 to 3.4 using only a single card (7770).  Catalyst 3.4 fixed some display problems (flickering pixels) but slowed my miner around 20%.  I wanted to revert back to 3.1 so I uninstalled all AMD software (including the driver via device manager) and then installed Catalyst 3.1.  GUIMiner failed to start after this with no error message.

I can only speculate, but I believe that the OpenCL package is not removed when Catalyst is uninstalled. Software developers frequently leave support packages, such as OpenCL in place because they cannot determine if other software not written by them may be using the interface.

So when the older reinstalled Catalyst 3.1 attempts to use the newer OpenCL from Catalyst 3.4, its probably misusing a changed interface causing an error that GUIMiner doesn't know how to handle.
