Ok so i just started mining with Bit Minter about 12hrs ago.  I can from Mt. Red and before that Bitclockers (prior to DDoS).  My hash rate is about 4000 Mh/s.  I am seeing very low payouts with this pool, as i would expect with its payout system.  I have been mining for a year and a half, and was wondering as a 24/7 dedicated miner, if this pool is wiorth my while?  Will my pay outs increase to about 0.2 BTC per day or more in time, as this was my average payout in other pools.  I have to SC ASIC's miners on the way (hopefully) and would like to know if i shoud stay or go based on my current hash rate?

I got about 25% better returns from Slush's pool.

what is with those "shifts-work "?
After few days I get 0.0025 per block(btc), everywhere else I get double.

I've noticed this as well.  It appears that if you don't have your miner running 24/7 you will not get a good rate of return from Bitminter.  If I am reading it correctly it adds up 10 shifts that are each about 46 minutes long and then gives you a percentage based on your average through those 10 shifts soooo, you have to mine for around 8  hours straight with no interruptions before you are maxing out your earnings.  I'm curious who benefits from the slack?  I game with this pc besides mining about 4/5's of the day so it looks like I am going to have to pass on bitminter and his great software and layout. 

That is the problem, i am mining 24/7. I was thinking after few days, reward will come to normal value but it didnt. I have just ~500Mhash not 10Ghash to play around like this.
I like the system, pool,... it looks ok, but i can't be a part of this.

I noticed that another .025 bitcoins went in my account from yesterday after I moved my equipment back to Slush.   Still 25% less than I am getting on Slush's pool, but I think there may be some delay in the accounting that makes it look worse than it is.

I am very new to mining and I think this is the best mining pool. My username is yantrader and I tried today to configure my hubby's laptop to mine a few hours but somehow when the cleint tries to open the java script doesn't work. I want to save up to buy a desktop to mine as I only have a laptop and a friend of mine said I can't mine on the laptop all day otherwise it will fry the cpu so I can only do a few hours a day at the moment. If I buy a desktop how many hours can I mine on it daily and what else would I need to get for it apart from an asic which I can't afford yet to make it grow bitcoins faster? Also how do we get some free bitcoins you said you are giving away is that for heaving mining? I am recommending this to all my friends to join this pool who are noobs like me as well. I will stick with this pool and not pool hop because I also like the chat feature and DHaribo has been so helpful in explaining to a noob like me how stuff works and I got paid very fast my namecoin earnings Iinto my NMC wallet. Thank you for begin such an honest MINING POOL.. Now waiting to reach my first bitcoin cash out over the coming week hopefully.

I was thinking about this over dinner.  How does pool hopping hurt anyone?

Pool hopping is not possible on BitMinter. Yes, pool hopping hurts someone. The pool hopper get more than their fair share of the mining income. Everyone else who are not pool hopping get less than their fair share. Don't mine in a hoppable pool, there will be a hidden "fee" to pool hoppers.

The BitMinter payout system has the highest payouts of any pool over time. There are two things you need to consider.

1: After you did some work it takes time for the work to go through 10 shifts and get fully paid. Now the hash rate is up but earlier it took 10 hours from work was done until it was fully paid. No wonder after 12 hours that your pay is low. Wait 10 more hours and the rest of your pay will arrive.

2: PPLNS has variance. Some days we have high pay and some days we have low pay. You have to measure over more than 1 day to compare pools. If you want the highest payout over time, BitMinter is your best bet. If you need to be absolutely sure you don't get low pay at a bad moment when you must pay your bills, then go with a PPS pool. It will cost you some income in high fees, but that's what you have to pay for the service of PPS. As they say, it's expensive to be poor.

Yes, your work is eligible for pay from blocks for quite a while after you stop mining. You also can't compare pools with variance for a day or a few hours.

With Slush's pool you pay 2% fee. You lose some income to pool hoppers. Do you still get namecoins? Are transaction fee income paid out? Slush's pool also has variance, like BitMinter.

If you can handle the pay going up and down a bit from day to day, BitMinter has the highest payout of any pool.

It would be nice also if you put a little clock at the top of your site that showed the current time in UTC.  (Guessing that's what the timestamps are on your site).  That way it's easier to do the math in my head when payout times are etc...

i know this is a weird question but does bitminter start on startup without the user having to log in?

BitMinter client has options to start working automatically when you start the program, but it won't start up at boot or login by itself.

In Windows you can drop the shortcut in the "startup" folder on your start menu, on another OS you might set up to run the command "javaws http://bitminter.com/client/bitminter.jnlp" automatically when you log in.

Hi, I have one PC with a GeForce GT 400 and Bitminter loaded and ran fine recognizing my cpu and gpu. But, I have another PC with a GeForce 7500 LE and Bitminter does not recognize it. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling from the NVIDIA website to no avail. I'd appreciate it if anyone knows how to make my gpu work? tia

(Note: Yes I know NVIDIA is slow. I just want to make sure I can run while I await delivery of my ASICs.)

I could be wrong, but I think geforce 8000 series is the oldest with OpenCL support. And 8000 series runs extremely slow.

The server runs great with ASICs. Support for BFL ASICs in the client is currently being worked on.
