BTC is about to hit the afterburners, in the form of sidechains and Lightning.

What IS going on with sidechains?  You have a link or something?  Seems like it's been in discussion for forever ...

Isn't it going to require bitcoin to change some code?  Is it even possible to get consensus to do that at this point?

It will need a soft fork, which requires only that miners agree. (Not something that I love about Bitcoin tbh, but that's the reality.) Supposedly Blockstream has been in negotiation with large miners for a very long time, but no results from those negotiations have been announced.

You can always try to approximate the valuation via economic proxies, such as:

"For each $1 in valuation, XMR needs 5,000 active users."

Thus, $10 if we manage 50k users by Time_X.

$1,000,000 if we manage 5 billion users.

I personally think that Monero will pass $1 in 2016 and $2 in 2017. It seems very pessemistic but we need to see that to strongly rising times are over.

Hi everyone,

lets predict the pirce of monero for 2016 and 2017

what are your thoughts about the price in one year, will it hit the $10? Cool

still dumpage but the situation is slowly overheating. influx of new users is creating additional pressure, the orderbook stays weak, but its possible it migth never recover on polo anyway.
slowly slowly we climb until there is no way back.

any news on the new exchanges?

That would mean that Monero would have to stay at the exact current level in terms of price in bitcoin (0.002).  I find it very unlikely that with a Bitcoin bullrun taking BTC to 1000 the XMR/BTC price remains constant and does not rise.

IMO - They guys who really want Monero is the same guys 2-3 years ago in BTC.  I don't see it being traded like Litecoin as a way to play because Monero holds value.  500 XMR to 1 Bitcoin right now is a good place any less imo its a buy, I also dont see it going over the 250:1 rate right now, at that point its sell sell sell.

maybe xmr/btc will crash during a btc bull run and fiat value still goes up ?
and after the btc bubble popped and everyone is rich, altcoins will have their bubble?

or not a possibility and medusa is just high as shit?

We need at least one guy being pessimistically conservative in here to temper our expectations  Wink

People should also be pricing in Bitcoin terms. That's the far more relevant metric (versus pricing in dollars).

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

You shouldn't focus that much on orderbooks. Imo, orderbooks are basically used to trick other people. Look at bitfinex for example, most of the bids and asks belong to the same person/entitiy. I wouldn't be suprised if it's precisely the same for XMR.

Because is 1 BTC is at 14,000 and XMR at 0.1, Each XMR It would be worth $1,140 usd.

Because most people traded their BTC for XMR. Which is at first, more volatile and thus makes it more risky. Secondly, if the XMR/BTC ratio declines it would've been better to stay in BTC.

Sounds good, apart from the math.  I guess I could part with a some around there.  Or even .01  $140.

Hell yeah that sounds alright.

While we're at it lets have Litecoin around $750 and Namecoin near $100, with Dash crushing privacy around $0.05.

Either you own the bitcoins(private keys) or you don't. However with moneroj, nobody knows what you own.

I have been less active on bitcointalk.org over the last week. That does not mean I am not active. I will be in Reddit and Monero forums more.  Working to coordinate with some people who are planning launch Monero websites, people writing localized Chinese content for press releases, contacting exchange owners and making social media connections.

Translations, tip bots, new exchanges (fiat and crypto), and Monero accepting businesses all help.

I do not have one large plan.  I have many small plans that I am trying to put together to increase synergy and growth.

Not everything I want to happen will be ready by 8/8 but will come a little later (one important website in particular I know will be delayed) but there is a lot I am excited about.  Chinese press releases are meant to direct traffic to Chinese websites and existing English content.  Translations clearly help increase Monero visibility but progress can be made before they are complete.
