1601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The FSB brings more regulations worldwide for this summer: More MICA on: February 24, 2023, 03:31:50 AM
also look out for the BIS
they are building bridges between countries CBDC and setting limits on banks holdings of cryptos

banks themselves wanted 5% or more of decentralised crypto holdings(bitcoin) but the BIS bit back by saying its 2025 proposal(currently draft) will only allow banks to hold 2% of its total collateral/reserves in decentralised cryptos like bitcoin. and another X%(yet to be agreed) for stable coin based cryptos

In the short term, this probably would have a bad effect on Bitcoin/Crypto prices. Of course we want more buyers and more holders. But in the long term, all this does is give Bitcoin/Cryptos a longer period in which we can buy at lower prices. The inevitability of this doing damage to the banks while rebounding profits for everyone else still exists.

And to be honest it seems most likely to me. We do not need banks to sell us crypto. We never have.

Nobody can stop the adoption now because it is already nearing a monetary revolution which is virtually impossible to reverse or stop. They might have had better luck 14 years ago. We have what, over 500 million estimated crypto holders? Thats more than a third of the population of China.

1602  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casinos and Tech Devices on: February 23, 2023, 08:26:27 PM
I would love to see some new and interesting gambling technology. Slots are fun but now that we have AI, perhaps we can have AI gamble against/with you? How would that even look like? I know in Japan they put anime idol girls that converse with you while you play the game. I am sure that holds a few people in their seat, which is rather convenient and profitable for the gambling casino owner Cheesy.

Rather than tech devices, perhaps we can develop social software like that in our own western version? Imagine Lucy Liu having a conversation with you while you play slots? That would be fun. We know that AI can easily imitate the voices and faces.

1603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Make Big Money at the Casino — Without Gambling on: February 23, 2023, 10:44:49 AM
Well I would not call it big money but the following way to make money from a casino without gambling also exists: You could work for the casino.

Depending on your job you could potentially make big money although I would not call it "heist money". Unless you are the CEO or some very important figure, I very much doubt you would become a multimillionaire. Perhaps a millionaire if you worked there long enough.

Perhaps you could even sell third party services to a casino with your own company or even form your own casino. That would definitely bring in the big money without all the big legal problems.

Between future and spot trading which will you opt in for. For me i think it is better to start with spot trading gradually observe how the market respond over time before moving into future trading. Both are indeed volatile and risky but i think spot which involves immediate buying and holding until price goes up to sell at a profit is more easier to start than making prediction on a price to either go up or come down on a later date.

Spot can be a nice start for newbies from what i have seen from the market so far. Since it only entails buying and holding until the asset appreciates just that it will only require patience since little or no technical skill is needed although with technical skill the trader can have more advantage over the market.

future trading is a suckers bet. You will always lose because the market will always be manipulated into scaring you or liquidating you. There are a lot of laws against this kind of manipulation but secretly, every market does it. Stay away from derivatives, especially leveraged trading!

Spot trading really is the best and only option. Of course making profits is not as exciting but then again if you wanted high profits in a short amount of time you might as well go gamble. You would definitely have better luck at the blackjack table than you would with futures trading.

But to each their own. I am just giving advice as a veteran with over a decade of experience. Take my advice as you will.
1605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 22, 2023, 11:58:57 AM

While each fighter may have their own training style, they need to ensure that it will benefit them in the upcoming fight. Rest is important, but it's also crucial for a fighter to be ready for the fight. Overtraining can cause problems and make a fighter struggle during the actual fight. It's important to remember that this is a big fight, and neither fighter cannot be too complacent. They will both do everything they can to perform their best on the day of the fight.

I'm sure they know how to train, don't you think they've always trained well, and before this fight they suddenly start training even harder and thereby hurt themselves? ) Each of them has gone a long way and they know how and what to do in order to be in optimal shape, especially since they have trainers who follow this. What they need to be ready for in this fight is that it is possible for a full 12 rounds fight, which means they will need good stamina.

I would not necessarily have to agree with you. Of course they know the right way to train and I am sure that they also know better and perhaps riskier ways to train. There have been more than enough cases of professionals training to the extreme because of an upcoming match. And sometimes they overdo it. Not because they want to overextert themselves but rather because they train until they are in a tunnel vision. Sometimes dedication to training becomes a unnoticeable thing. Even for professional boxers.

They are only human, after all. Fiery passion can lead to overexertion.

Welcome to the Bitcointalk forum!

Our community can be very observant and very strict sometimes because we have had both good and bad experiences with new projects in the past. I hope you will prove to be honorable, faithful and charitable to this community!

I like the quirky Ann design. I myself have quite a sweet tooth so this is quite nice to look at! I will be sure to take a deeper look at your casino and try it out for myself, if possible.

See you around!

Those are barbaric... Why not just have a trough to save on plumbing expenses.

Like this one?

Yes, and that one even has a nice view... more so for the user than the people on the other side of the glass.

It might be one-way glass? I hope.
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If There Is A Ban on: February 21, 2023, 10:10:32 PM
There is only one case where bitcoin can be banned, and that is all governments join forces to ban bitcoin, there is no other way. But unfortunately, the world won't work that way, this world is multipolar. The US is the largest and most influential country in the world, but not everyone follows and follows them. If they had enough power, they could have stopped the war between Russia and Ukraine. Even if the US bans bitcoin, there will always be other countries accepting bitcoin, as long as they see the benefits of bitcoin. National interest always comes first.

I agree. The most likely way that Bitcoin could perhaps be banned is if every country in the world became a global dictatorship under a single unified ruler. But to be honest, even then we would protest, build our own networks and Bitcoin might even then be kept alive. We would risking everything for freedom but I think humanity has proven time and time again that even in the cruelest dictatorships there will be those who stand up and do whats right.

I do not doubt that even in North Korea there exist groups of people who mine their own version of Bitcoin without government approval or oversight.
1609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there age limits to Bitcoin investment? on: February 21, 2023, 07:42:48 PM
I think the answer is both yes and no.

If investing, then the child must use money it already owns. But the use of that money should be delegated to the parents as it is their responsibility to prevent the child from harming their financial situation.

Fiat money has to be earned. It cannot be "made" by anyone else other than the government. And of course the government prints fiat irresponsibly, damaging the economy of their country for rotten reasons. So the child must earn fiat. This is the biggest obstacle for the child as it is not allowed to work.

This is not the case with Bitcoin, however. The child, if it is smart and old enough, could technically mine the Bitcoin using their own computer. In this case, there is no labor and no risk of loss of additional, pre-owned money.

So I believe in this case the mined coin belongs 100% to the child and it should do with it as it wishes. And if the child loses the money, it will be an important life lesson and no harm done.
1610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 21, 2023, 07:26:28 PM
In this forum and other forums where gambling is one of the topics of discussion, one of the recurrent topics is people who write about how their gambling addiction has ruined their lives. We usually encounter topics like "Gambling ruined my life,"  "I lost all my life savings to gambling,"  "I gambled away my entire salary," etc. Then they go on to tell a sad tale. It makes me wonder: why do gamblers tend to wait until they have suffered a catastrophic loss or a string of losses before quitting or seeking help?

We all know what kind of damage gambling addictions can do, especially to some certain groups of people who are predisposed to addiction. But this is a problem which goes beyond gambling. The question should be how do we stop those certain frail groups from participating in something that will be bad for them? I do not think we should. Every adult should make their own choices and not be baby-sitted by someone else.

Sometimes those people need a firm life-lesson which they will never forget. It usually helps them out of their addiction. Money is just money. And the money they lost could be seen as an educational fee.

That being said, most gamblers do not have a gambling problem.
1611  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: February 21, 2023, 06:37:32 PM
Playing device are important one for sometimes, because of the display size. When you play with pc with good graphics card, surely you will have good fun for sure. The experience of gambling on pc,iPad and IMac will be impressive one.The effects will differ from various devices for sure.My preference will be always pc with graphics card. But I had start the gambling with mobile phone and build the game to this level for now. From my earning,I keep buy of new devices.I had personal pc with graphics card,IPad and IMac.

Indeed. Most gamblers, if not all, are also after the graphics not just the performance of the device. This is why those gamblers who can afford to buy a high end device that they could use in the comforts of their homes prefer to buy a good desktop or even build one of their own that will cater their needs and wants at the same time. High specification in terms of processor and graphics is important especially if they are often playing and betting. Having this will make their life much easier and enjoyable. Surely, those who are after the fun are considering this to satisfy themselves. After all, having good graphic display is pleasing to the eyes.

Gambling games are not all that graphics intensive, I am pretty sure any mobile phone will have around the same graphical quality as your high end gaming pc at home with the newest graphics card...

Its just questionable why anyone would need to gamble in such a hurry that instead of waiting to come home to their desktop computer or laptop (also mobile, to be honest) they would rather play on a tiny screen.

It can't be good for your eyes. And the experience/fun is diminished anyway. But I guess that some people just need to gamble while sitting on the toilet at work?  Roll Eyes
1612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: February 20, 2023, 06:32:10 PM
I am not so sure about Figueroa after watching him struggle and lose the fight against Stephen Fulton Jr. in November of 2021 and he only had a single fight in 2022. What happened? Depression? All in all it seems like he is starting to lose steam and its all going a bit downhill for him, currently. That really does not spark confidence for me to bet on him.

I don't think it's a struggle, it was a very close match to me, Brandon though throw a lot of punches and Fulton that eat everything and didn't even go down in that fight. And it's frustrating for a volume puncher to see that. He should be rematching Fulton, but Stephen decided to go to Inoue. While he challenges the next biggest puncher in 126 in Magsayo.

On the other side, Magsayo has been winning and fighting year to year. Absolutely no stopping him! Aside from his one recent loss, his track record is way better. Obviously he is going to win this fight with certainty.

He lost though so he is stop on his track, so both are coming from a lost, and so the winner will obviously bounce back with a big win here.

Both are coming from a huge loss and this is what makes this fight so exciting to watch, the winner will move forward to the title while the loser will have a hard climb to get into the rank, nobody wants two successive losses especially if you're a former champion like these two.
Both have the same fate of losing via decision and I don't think these two will trust the judges so they will try to finish the fight via stoppage, both fighters don't want the judges to have a role in who will move forward or who will drop in the ranking.

You guys are measuring the wrong way. Yes they might be both coming from a RECENT loss but lets look at both of their track records over years. Obviously Figueroa might have been on a bad luck streak just like Magsayo, but Magsayo's history is less flawed by a 1 fight (draw). So how does one even compare the two histories? Its hard to tell but Figueroa has been showing more weakness in the recent past, so my money is on Magsayo.

Just because he recently had some bad luck in his fight against Vargas and has finally gotten 1 loss does not make this an eventuality which will happen again. 24 wins 1 loss. Cmon.

1613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has the potential for a positive feedback loop on: February 20, 2023, 06:01:59 PM
It would seem we are headed towards a good ending. I agree. Perhaps we have already crossed the main line to a good ending and are already there.

We would still see many people holding the network together in exchange for transaction fee rewards. The question is: can the transaction rewards for Bitcoin fall so low that it would become unprofitable to continue and the entire system would grind to a halt? And can that happen to Bitcoin, realistically?

I think no. As long as people have an incentive to transact their Bitcoin, we do not have to worry. The biggest incentive is total financial freedom. From the government, regulations and banks. Especially if you live in a dictatorial country, you can offer services in exchange for Bitcoin without revealing your identity (as long as you stay away from centralized platforms like banks or exchanges) and nobody can take your money away from you. This way, The government becomes forced to comply with the wishes of their people. Paying taxes becomes optional. It all becomes a question of: do you want your country to prosper? If you live in a good country, yes. But if you live in a dictatorship, you have the choice to stop funding the governments actions. You take the power away from the dictators by refusing taxation and regulation. The governments are forced to bow down to the wishes of the people, not the other way around. Total democratic, anonymous and financial freedom.

Worst case scenario Bitcoin switches to PoS or something else, which is yet to be discovered. The good news is we have over 120 years left until we have to worry about that. More than enough time to plan for eventualities.
1614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 20, 2023, 05:26:50 PM
comparing their Boxing record, Donaire seems to have more advantage than Santiago. this will be an interesting match to watch, I'd like to see how Santiago will fair against someone who has more experience and has more advantage than him.
The only advantage Santiago has here is his age, LOL. Donaire is old, but like a fine wine, he still has that timing, and with his power, he can definitely KO his opponent. I have not seen the boxing highlights of Santiago, which is why I'm very confident that Donaire will win, but let's see if it will change my mind.

sorry if this might be a bit off-topic. it looks like they already have someone who is ready to take the fight in case one of the team decides to not continue with the match. from what I've read the reason Moloney's Management Bob Arum of "Top Rank promotions" has a problem with Donaire's Management "Probellum"(check here for the article).
That's the kind of politics that can destroy a potentially great fight. Of course, if both promoters do not agree, the fight is not going to happen.

I completely agree. Nonito Donaire might be older but in boxing, that makes little difference. This is not football, where each tiny bit of physical endurance is essential. This is more about strength, experience and skill, which Donaire has heaps of. People put way too much importance on age and completely ignore the fact that legendary boxers like Donaire have an amazing track record which has not wavered much. I also am betting on Donaire this fight.

Promoters only pretend to say that fights "won't happen" its all marketing strategy to get peoples attention. I don't fall for it.

1616  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why America Should Ban Crypto on: February 19, 2023, 08:38:04 PM
I do not wish to seem disrespectful to the elderly, for we can certainly learn a lot from their wisdom. But wisdom is not knowledge. Investing in modern technologies like Bitcoin requires both wisdom and knowledge. This is why I do not trust the words of old people who do not know of how to do things in our modern times. They still live in the past and cannot comprehend the technology of today. Just watch one of them try to use a computer and you will understand what I mean.

This explains why there are so many boomers trying to "ban" something which is unbannable.

The SEC is not a hypocrite.

Actually I think that these moves are not related to protecting American citizen, nor American businesses. I think that it's meant to pave the way for the upcoming CBDC. And that's, sorry, overly hypocrite.

Exactly my thoughts on the entire matter. They just want to get rid of competition before unleashing the horror of their dictatorial digital currency. What they unfortunately have no realized is how futile their attempts will be since we already have Bitcoin. And they will not be able to destroy Bitcoin or its value. Anybody with an IQ higher than room temperature knows this and will not give up their Bitcoin over some pseudo-crypto that the government quickly put together out of panic because their current monetary system is being effectively attacked by Bitcoin and even altcoins...

@jjg...you are posting pure nonsense.

@bitebits reference analyzed ALL scenarios and the conclusion is there:

"LS consistently outperforms DCA across all time periods, short term and long term.
The longer the time period, the more LS tends to outperform DCA."

You can't fight the math...but, of course, you will.

Hiding behind "normies" having no money, etc etc does not mean that what you peddle is correct.
"Normies" have money, and if they don't, they could even borrow some against some property if they want to get a lump sum.
I did it myself a couple times in the oughts.
In fact, we both know that my LS strategy vastly outperfomed your DCA.

I feel like this is going to throw shade on other similiar strategies and I do not like it. The "study" was based entirely on a DCA type based on buying on a fixed time interval with a fixed sum. The other types of DCA were not even considered.

Buying each dip is a completely different kind of DCA which was not discussed here.

Although I am not sure if Value Averaging can be considered a DCA, technically, lets be clear that VA > DCA. Obviously this type is not a risk-spreading DCA as the one being discussed but rather a profit maximization strategy using a continuous income source, which is infinitely more important.

Also the risk of losing all your money in an investment with LS is something that should be considered. With DCA at least you will have some money left in your pocket if your investment goes belly up.

The study is flawed because it equates prices before mass adoption and after. Unless you have a way of predicting early unicorn investments, only the time scale from 2018 onwards should be considered, as the market cap shows this is when the mass adoption of Bitcoin really began. The prices were at 8-10k.
