2681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 19, 2021, 02:25:00 PM
After seeing Boston Celtics' performance against Golden State Warriors, I felt like that they would win a game very soon. Because they made really big difficulties for Golden State in general. And their next game was going to be vs New York Knicks. This was a very competitive game last night and Celtics really managed to be the victor by 114-107. There was a really good team play from Celtics.

Celtics are good at home and Knicks aren't really a great team like the Warriors. They needed that win because they have been losing games especially in the road and good thing they made it although it wasn't as dominant as what we are expecting from a home team.

Tatum, Brown, and Richardson, all 3 scored over 20 points and that was great teamwork from them.

Hopefully, Richardson will give a consistent production like what he gave in the succeeding games.

I think what sets the Warriors apart from any other team is their team consistency and development. While star players of respective teams are expected to create and do some scoring, the whole bench of the Warriors also fulfill that role.

The best example that I could provide was the time Curry had an off-night. Though his FGs made/attempted were relatively bad, the bench did their respective jobs which managed them to snag the win.
2682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CAN YOU EARN IN THIS FORUM? on: December 19, 2021, 01:12:01 PM
How do I attract merits?
What do you mean by quality posts? Is this an example?
Who owns the Bitcointalk forum?

You attract merits by creating quality posts and contributing to the forum as a whole. In addition, you can also get merits by providing guides to new and existing users about a certain topic that is not yet been discussed.

Quality posts can be defined subjectively but it is something that provides ample contribution to the forum and to the users. While there may be some quality replies on to threads, it gets repetitively mentioned throughout the forum.
2683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fundamental goal of bitcoin on: December 19, 2021, 10:29:39 AM
Bitcoin allows a decentralized peer-to-peer transfer of value without any reliance of 3rd party entities. The sort of "end goal" is going to totally depend on a person's opinion, and definitely not something set in stone that everything should agree to. I'd even go as far as to say that we don't necessarily need to agree on whatever Satoshi said in the past.

This pretty much sums up the goal on why BTC was created in the first place- to provide for financial freedom where 3rd party institutions are not involved in any of our transactions. While it may sound dangerous, it has been proven that without the reliance of these 3rd parties, there has been success as to financial freedom on how users transact their money.

This is also one of the reasons on why the government is hesitant to view/consider it as a form of alternative currency due to the dangers of anonymity.
2684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had bought bitcoin 10 years ago, I would have been a millionaire: Not true on: December 18, 2021, 08:00:02 PM
The reality is that they would not have been able to hold for so long even if they bought 10 years ago. Very few have the patience to wait till 100x or more. Most of the investors will be sold at the idea of 2x or 3x itself. Some of the people that were able to hold for so long were those who had invested and then completely forgot about it. There is one more category of people who had complete trust on BTC and thus they stick with it for years.

I think this is the same case with every investment where its price skyrocketed in the market 5-10 years ago.

I started investing in BTC back in 2017 where its price was relatively equal to roughly ~$4,000. Unfortunately, if I had just HODL my BTCs, I would have earned roughly around ~$40,000 in BTC which would have helped my family in relieving the expenses incurred.

Though this may be the case, this fully taught me on how to HODL my BTCs for long-term gains. Given the inflationary nature of BTC, its price would inevitably skyrocket the more it reaches to the points where every BTC would be mined out.

I understand that you have done the initial calculations, but you need someone to confirm it?
You talk about millions of rolls, but in the end you ask about someone to write an autoscript.
Does this mean that you have been doing all these millionth simulations manually until now?

I think the Martingale system proves to be the most efficient method of gaining back your losses or doubling your winnings in a given gambling spree. Though this may be contingent on the amount of capital that you are willing to lose, still the Martingale system remains to be the efficient method of gambling my resources, primarily based on my experience.

I remember my brother used to experience 3-4 times of losses in a given spree but he managed to recover and profit from his trade after his 5th bet winning on the system.
2686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: December 18, 2021, 06:23:48 AM
Did you guys learn about the recent news on Magnus, announcing that he would not participate in the next WC championship if his opponent is not Firouzja? What are your thoughts on his statement about it?

In my opinion, the preparation of the WC title is too demanding especially that it takes around months of preparation and focus needed. Maybe Carlsen does not have to prove anything as he is considered the best player in today's generation.

It takes a lot of nerds to create certain snags and disagreements like that.
I like chess a lot, but for me it was never more than a hoobie and honestly I can't understand what would make a high level athlete like that not to win a world tournament because he doesn't agree that his opponent is any other.
Have you ever thought if something similar happened at the FIFA World Cup? It would be completely insane!

I somehow agree with your post but I think we have to consider the amount of preparation that these players go through every time they participate in the WC championship. As Magnus had mentioned, it took him months and months of intense focus and preparation but he feels like he does not have to prove anything to anyone in classical format.

Though Carlsen mentioned that he was looking forward for the blitz and rapid championship with motivates him further. In addition, he also did mention that his next goal would be to break the 2900 rating barrier.
2687  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Paymaya planning to add crypto? on: December 17, 2021, 05:47:16 PM
Mukhang ayaw nila ata magpatalo sa GCash hehe. But for me, it’s a good sign na ni-recognize na nila yung cryptocurrency, kaya ayaw nila ata magpahuli sa trend. Just my own understanding lang.

This is actually true! Wala talaga mawawala sa paymaya if they follow the footsteps of GCASH where they decided to integrate cryptocurrency sa wallet nila.

2688  Economy / Economics / Re: Maybe good time to loan money to invest in crypto on: December 17, 2021, 05:28:40 PM
Maybe now its a good time to invest
And borrow money.
Btc goes 120,000$  if you buy now you make like over 60,000$ profit.
But dont buy just btc divide ur portfolio ...
Buy few metaverse few top coins maybe web3 and u wait ATH and you sell it.
Pay i ng back loan and u are in profit.
Next year as we all know ATH

I somehow agree that this may be a good opportunity for loans as the value of crypto is relatively low in the market. I do suspect, however, that its price may recover by the first quarter of 2022. That is why, any investment opportunity done at the current price of BTC (~$48,000) can be profitable long-term.

Though the problem of loans stems from its very nature that you are lending someone your money. There are many instances where even trusted members of this forum took advantage of their reputation and got away with it.
2689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Only invest an amount you can afford to lose" on: December 17, 2021, 03:28:36 PM
"Only invest an amount you can afford to lose."

Probably one of the most common advice I've heard when it comes to investing in bitcoin; and I've used it a lot of times too. But honestly, in our current situation where fiat is getting printed like hell, I started to use that statement less and less. It just seems that holding bitcoin is now totally necessary.

I think this kind of mindset stems for the inflationary nature of BTC being totalled to a limited number supply of 21 million. The more BTCs are mined everyday, the more it gets valuable as it is non-renewable form of asset, unlike existing assets nowadays.

HODLing is still the viable option. If there is an opportunity to purchase more BTCs, such advice should always apply- only invest the amount that you are willing to lose. Consider everything that you invested as money that is good as gone until you withdraw it.

2691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying BTC anonymously on: December 16, 2021, 05:27:46 PM
Why not buy Bitcoin directly to any KYC exchange and use a mixer instead?

Your process is too long so buying bitcoin directly would be the best option than buying XMR to BTC.

There are lots of Bitcoin mixers or tumblers you can try Wasabi it has a feature to mix them or use Chipmixer.

I agree with this statement.

The process that you follow OP is definitely tedious as you can skip some steps which are unnecessarily convenient. As what Bitmaxz had mentioned, purchasing BTC from your local exchange (though some require KYC documents) and using a mixer can easily acknowledge and follow the anonymity factor that you are hoping for. Another tip of advice, avoid putting your BTCs in an exchange if you plan on long-term HODLing. I suggest purchasing a hardware wallet to store your BTCs safely and securely.
2692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 16, 2021, 04:13:44 PM
The game between the Lakers vs Mavericks was a hell of a watch especially the final moments of the last quarter.

Both players from the respective teams managed to score side-by-side, clutching 3s and 2s on the field but the last possession of the Lakers changed the outcome of the game. Though Westbrook avoided to shoot an open 3, he quickly realized that there was still time on the clock on which he drove the defender off and passed the ball to the rookie Austin Reaves who manages to sink in a game winner shot! Unbelievable game and it was a privileged to witness it live on my TV.

Lakers are starting to develop and find their team chemistry. I hope their development continues as I do have high hopes on the team.
2693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 13, 2021, 07:26:49 PM
It looks like Kevin Durant proves that he can still carry a team to a victory even though he has a past injury but KD still shine. Determination and positive thinking make Kevin Durant unstoppable.
No Harden No Irving that's why KD have so much time to play and I think they got a good decision then Kd carry his team and also his teammates doing great so they win a scored of 116 to 100.
He can. There's no hype with the Brooklyn Nets now because of the Warriors and the Suns previous battle to end the streak, Curry breaking the 3 point record and Lakers performance level which is unpredictable. But soon, there will be again when Kevin Durant keep this up.
The Nets have a deep roster and that's what missing with other teams. Harden can rest and Irving can waste more time avoiding the vaccine but their role players can step up their game and join Durant on his quest to be steady as the number 1 seed in the East.

Kevin Durant is just a force to be reckon with. A player that is 7-foot tall, who has the ball handling-skills and shooting, is just unfair as he is considered unguardable in NBA standards. But I do agree that Nets also have a deep roster and bench within their reach though I do think that the Warriors have honed and taught their rookies/bench team better than the nets. The way the latter utilizes their roster makes it that they will be soon developing their confidence and team effort which makes them a championship team from the rest.

Your ranking is actually impressive considering the fact that you created your account last month!

By reading also your post history, you seemed to engage a lot on your conversations/discussions since you explain in-depth your point of view in topics that you chose. That is considered one of the sign of being a good poster and contributor- you literally deserve your ranking up! But the journey does not end here as you have five (5) more ordeals to reach!

Anyway, good luck posting and continue doing your amazing discussions OP!
2695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 2 - December 18 on: December 13, 2021, 06:06:09 PM
The match will be tough I can't really tell who will win the fight.
the only reason why it will be a tough fight is because of the non-disclosure agreement that Tyron Woodley would have to sign prior to the fight. it was clear in their previous fight that Tyron would have won a knockout against jake paul if Tyron continued to punch and go for the KO but chose not to(I wonder why  Roll Eyes ).

That non-disclosure agreement signed by Tyron Woodley definitely limited his fight since he was not allowed to KO Jake Paul.

Like what you have mentioned, exhibition fights are those that are purely for entertainment and/or business. The only people that benefit from these types of matches are the boxers since they can agree to whatever prior terms that they may stipulate resulting to this "non-disclosure agreement" that I just mentioned.

Now that this is a professional fight, we can now witness a fight between two (2) experienced fighters on the ring without any agreements or anything whatsoever. I am somehow excited about this match and if I were to bet, I would put my money on Woodley!
2696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to store your keys? on: December 13, 2021, 05:52:34 PM
If I had such amount I wouldn't worry about keys, because these coins would be splitted among different third party platforms to generate passive income. It makes no sense to have so much money like 2000 bitcoins and keep it hidden like a pirate treasure. Bitcoin's purpose, like the purpose of any currency, is to serve its holders in the most effective and profitable possible way. Otherwise, what would be the point?

With all the replies that I have read, this is the one that struck me the most.

It is obvious that if you are holding a significant amount of BTCs in your wallet, it is highly advisable that you allocate them into separate hardware wallets (NOT EXCHANGES) for maximum security and anonymity. In addition, you could also keep your hardware wallets in a relatively safe vault with the information being given to your immediate family in the event that something happens to your life.

I remember, I have a friend who kept 150+ BTCs in our local exchange and his coins were frozen when he attempted to withdraw and cash it out due to suspicious activity.
2697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Reymart Gaballo (WBC bantamweight) on: December 13, 2021, 05:27:35 PM
Donaire just have to beat Inoue, as WBC belt would be easy since no one holds it probably when it was stripped from Casimero.

Beating Inoue is a stiff hill to climb but knowing how lethal that left hook that Donaire possesses, that chance of being crowned the undisputed champion of the bantamweight category is still possible and that confidence that he has right now is sky high after that two very impressive wins after his lose to Inoue.

Before we forget, Inoue's fight would be tomorrow, it is his time to show who the real dog of this 118lbs division.

It is just a privilege to witness a fighter at a very sensitive age, being able to dominate the ring in just two (2) rounds against a destructive and dangerous boxer. On the first round, Gaballo was showing pressure especially with his accurate right hooks and jabs. Donaire was also accurate on his punches but what sealed the deal was the body shot on round 2. You could actually see the pain on Gaballo's face when Donaire hit him with a left hook on the body which incapacitated Gaballo and ultimately decided the round.

I agree- beating Inoue may be premature to say but Donaire has that power and accuracy to make it into fruition. I just hope that their fight materializes in the near future so we could see two (2) top boxers of this era.
2698  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The reason why investors often lose money on: December 13, 2021, 04:52:26 PM
There are some rules to keep in mind:

1. Never sell because the price looks high. For example, if you look at it from 10 to 20, what should you judge at this time is what is preventing them from 20-50?
2. Similarly, don't buy directly because of the high price in the previous period and a lot of drop. The decline is justified.
3. Never equalize the loss in your current account, as there is a high probability that you will lose more.

We are already in a fickle market, and more often there are no rules to follow, but setting up some own trading rules will reduce my losses.

Hope to communicate with everyone

I appreciate the guide you made but I want to mention a point you raised about selling when the price is high.

Remember that every investor has their respective goals set in mind. Whether an investor is short or long-term, the goal is always common- which is to profit at the end. Instead of selling everything when the price of your investment reaches an ATH, sell 40% and retain the %60 for re-investment. The percentage may vary depending on your current needs/goals but it is highly advisable that you prevent from cashing out all of your investments.
2699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: December 13, 2021, 04:00:06 PM
At the moment, a scandal has erupted in Russia due to the fact that Magnus published the list of his team members and there was a grandmaster from Russia - Daniil Dubov. Dubov has been cooperating with Magnus for a long time and in fact it was expected, but for some reason many Russian grandmasters (and officials) assessed this as a "betrayal" and attacked Dubov with criticism.
An interesting situation, but it seems to me that the main reason is that they are only dissatisfied with the result of the Magnus-Nepo match and this is just a way to pour out their emotions.

Sergey Karjakin tweeted a jab against Dubov for supporting Carlsen but he forgot about the fact that he used to train in the UK and later on pledged his loyalty to Putin. Again, this is not an issue about patriotism as chess is an international sport with two people fighting for the world title. It should not be political (although the history depicts it as such) and should only focus on talent of the players.

If that were the case also, then Kasparov should be under scandal when he trained Magnus when he was young, also Karpov. I really do think that the Russians are going too overboard on this issue especially that they tackled on the topic about 'patriotism' when such is not the case.
2700  Economy / Economics / Re: Only 50% of the college Class of 2020 had full-time jobs 6 months post grad on: December 13, 2021, 03:07:38 PM
Imagine, a hegemonic country such as the US is suffering from 50% youth unemployment rate- what more to developing and underdeveloped countries?

The rise of COVID definitely affected the employment opportunities of the youth considering that 2020 was the year that the pandemic started. A few months after its outburst, businesses and universities were not able to adapt and provide alternative methods quickly (compared now where everything is virtual). Not to mention, even if they adapted methods, its effectivity is not that ideal due to the difference between learning virtually vs physically.
