701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 09, 2023, 04:01:14 PM

Compare this to if the new casino has no Bitcointalk ANN, it will take time before many people know that the casino is already scamming their users, on the long run, the casino must have made a handful of money from scamming their customers.

Information is very vital when dealing with new online casinos this days.

So if a scamming casino, does not have its ANN on bitcointalk, then people will not know about their scams as they won't be discussed here. This mean that most of the scam casino will not list their ANN here and this is one point that we may take, as you see if the Casino has an ANN thread or not.

If a casino has no ANN here, it is a straight NO for me to visit and test the new site. Having an ANN here means that people will publicly tell the good and bad things about the casino and it is better than the reviews sites like trust pilot etc.

I do agree with your statement.

Like what I also previously mentioned, a gambling casino that has an ANN thread on this forum can at least give you the sense of security of their genuineness. While such fact does not completely guarantee that they are real (e.g. Betnomi, 1xbit, etc.), at least there can be a comprehensive discussion about the website where everyone can input their experiences/problems should they have one.

In conclusion, look for casinos that contains an ANN on this forum to provide you at least an extra layer of security.
702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on How to Stay Safe and Avoid Scams When Gambling Online on: September 09, 2023, 02:33:59 PM
A lot of people join new casino and sportsbook platforms only for the bonuses they offer to new gamblers without realizing that it can actually be a trap. I don't say that all new platforms are untrustworthy, but it is always better to be cautious when joining a new platform, and as you said, if a platform asks for KYC verification that you recently joined and which isn't a very old platform, you should think twice or maybe more than that before you submit your personal information and documents.

This is the reason why it is better to simply stick with the old or trustworthy casino and sportsbook platforms so that you don't have to be worried about getting scammed or your personal details and documents being used for gaining money or maybe even in bad things which might cause you trouble.
Exactly. There's always the risk of crossing with a site that you shouldn't have cause they are a blatant scam ripoff that'll steal your money and quite possibly your information too, when it comes to playing with obscure casinos as well as those that are just starting. Always a rule of thumb of mine cause you can't really trust even those "old gambling sites" as you put it is to just play with casinos that are in this forum. That way push comes to shove we can contact them and possibly provide feedback as well should things go awry and we did get scammed.

Just like what happened with Betnomi, that site's one of the most trusted ones out here but out of nowhere they left with the players' money. People were informed of it right away and contingencies were set to provide some form of recompense to the users affected. You won't be able to do that with any other site mind you.

This is where the importance of this forum reflects on how it can prove to give an extra layer of security for everyone.

As a general rule, before a player invests in a specific gambling website, one should always refer to this forum and utilize the search bar in order to know if a gambling website is genuine or not. Like what you have mentioned, what happened to Betnomi was very unexpected. But at least, people were informed right away when some complained and created a thread about it. Majority were able to quickly remove and transfer their funds, though some had fallen to their shady exit scam.

I just hope that people will see the importance and value of this forum. Not only does this provide additional information to cryptocurrency, this is also gives everyone all the detailed and updated news on at least almost everything that is crypto related.
703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and get rich quick syndrome on: September 08, 2023, 05:40:02 PM
The get rich quick scheme is what is leading people into traps. I think there is no get rich quick anywhere but hard work, your correct mate but this thread should be in the bitcoin discussion
often beginners get into bitcoin because they have this get rich quick syndrome in fact they don't get it, instead they make mistakes. Anyone who thinks bitcoin can provide wealth in a short time should think again because bitcoin is not an bubble investment.

If there exists such a way where people could quickly get rich, then everyone would be rich by now. The problem with most people is that they seem to think that everything has a short cut to success. But as a matter of fact, being hardworking and maximizing the opportunity of being lucky are the key factors of what makes a person successful.

Think of cryptocurrencies as the gateway opportunity of someone being potentially rich. This opportunity should therefore be maximized by people who are aware of its existence due to various factors (e.g. forks, etc.) that can affect the price of BTC in the market.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Preparations for BTC Halving and bull market on: September 08, 2023, 05:17:19 PM
I have already accumulated bitcoin in my portfolio (70% of my portfolio is in bitcoin) which i will not sell until we are above the all time high again. Similarly, i have bought some major cap coins and a few others low cap too which i think will perform well in the bull season.  I have been doing this for the last 3 to 4 months, buying some at every dump.

I do applaud your dedication in this kind preparation for the upcoming fork and bull run.

While it may be true that prices of BTC may increase, I still have yet to prepare my portfolio for this. I should, however, invest more in my cryptocurrencies especially on the amounts that I receive weekly from my campaign signature.

I actually somehow struggle to focus long-term as I always withdraw and use my weekly BTCs in order to convert it to my local currency. I just hope that this will give me that reality-check that I have been longing for me to save and invest my BTCs.
705  Economy / Gambling / Re: Concept of Halal Casino on: September 08, 2023, 04:47:02 PM
It sounds to me that they're trying to work around their own beliefs which is just weird to say the least.

I'm not a muslim and don't consider gambling a sin but I believe that you shouldn't knowingly commit the same sin every day even if you pray and do something good right after commiting that sin.

I agree with your statement.

From what I have heard and learned, gambling is absolutely prohibited under the Islamic rules and regulations. According to them, Allah has forbidden gambling and it is considered as a sin. Seeing a Muslim working around and circumventing such is somehow displeasing to see but I guess they have their own discussion about it.

Though this may be the case, a concept of a "Halal" casino is potentially bound to fail. Imagine, naming a gambling casino in a Muslim term definitely spark red flags on it. I doubt that Muslims and other people would even attempt to try this without going against their beliefs.
706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Control Your Emotions and Win More Bets on: September 08, 2023, 04:15:29 PM
Controlling your emotions would work wonders if you bet on sports mostly but it won't do any good when you play a dice based game like dice. Let's say your favorite team's striker won't be playing in the next game, this should give you a major red flag but if you can't control your emotions you will bet on the victory of your favorite team ignoring these major red flags. Obviously, the chances of losing that bet is very high. When there is the unavoidable data and facts, we can't and shouldn't ignore them facts. We should follow the same logic when making trades too.

I think more on the emotions, a gambler must be composed and well-versed with the activity. Even if the heart tells you to continue to gamble, despite in a losing streak, the mind should govern all the rationalize decisions that you must think off.

Basically, the mind should be the one that reigns over the heart of our emotions. If we let our emotions decide for our activities, this can be potentially dangerous given the fact that gambling involves about impulsive decisions.

If a player experiences a losing streak, stop and rationalize. Betting further would probably end you up costing more in the process. End the activity, call it a day, and consider it as a loss; a loss that is actually a win.
707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Should Also Be Prepared For Health Emergencies on: September 08, 2023, 03:19:20 PM
Quote
A man experiencing cardiac arrest and who later died was slumped over a blackjack table at Wynn Las Vegas for more than 15 minutes while the dealer continued to deal cards to another player, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed this week in District Court. David Jagolinzer, an attorney from Florida, was staying at the Wynn when he suffered a cardiac arrest on April 6, 2022, while playing blackjack on the casino floor. The dealer at his table continued to deal while Jagolinzer was slumped over, according to a complaint filed Thursday.
https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/courts/lawsuit-dealer-continued-to-deal-with-man-slumped-over-during-cardiac-arrest-2731495/

This happened in 2022 and although I do not know the outcome of the court case, my thoughts are that the discussion about casinos should go beyond security measures to cover how prepared they are in the event of a health emergency . I think that well-equipped First Aid Kit and trained paramedical staff could significantly contribute to ensuring the safety and well-being of casino patrons. Although casinos are primarily places where people go for entertainment and profit, the operators should put in place health emergency measures could potentially mitigate the impact of unforeseen events. On the other hand, I would argue that the family of the deceased is trying to obtain money from the casino. Do you think the casino is to be blamed?

I do think that every establishment should at least be prepared in dealing with all kinds of emergency issues. The staff must be properly equipped with all the basic first-aid skills/techniques in order to at least support anyone who is in need of help.

While this may be true, I somehow disagree that the casino should be blamed of this incident. Remember that any person, of legal age, can enter the casino premises. They are not required to disclose any underlying health issues that may affect their health. At most, only basic first-aid kits can be administered at the patient on this kind of level.
708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Appropriate percentage of income for gambling on: September 07, 2023, 05:35:26 PM
I use 5% of my weekly income to gamble and I can not go more than that. Sometimes I can be busy and I can spend less. If a week favours me, I will save my profit and the remaining (5% last week income) for next week gambling. According to what I heard, people spend up to 12% of their weekly income on gamble. I think it is not bad but that gives me the thinking to make a post like this on this forum. What percentage of weekly income do you think is right for gambling?

I think the answer mostly depends on the perspective of each and every player who gambles.

Generally, people who view gambling as purely a form of entertainment are less likely to invest more money on their income in this venue. They view gambling as a way to at least reduce some stress as the adrenaline can give a person the boost of emotions that can be felt during the act.

On the other hand, people who view gambling as a way of earning income or money do have higher chances of investing more money on their income. Their goal is to quickly win or recover their losses by gambling again, thereby creating a cycle of income stream and expenses.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How was your first Bitcoin experience? on: September 04, 2023, 05:52:40 PM
So, I am sitting here thinking about how my first Bitcoin experience was, and I can't remember. Suddenly, I am thinking, how was your first Bitcoin experience? If you remember your first Bitcoin experience so please tell me.

I started last June 2017 and ever since, I have been a BTC investor.

I remember during those days, my friend introduced me to BTC as he said that he wanted to share the wonders of doing campaign signature. When I quickly realized that BTC is more than these campaign signatures, I read and understood several posts where it explained the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies.

From there, everything went smoothly until to this current time where I am still advocating about investing in a early time to maximize its potential.
710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Face unlock on bitcoin wallet devices on: September 04, 2023, 03:22:14 PM
It is on this forum that I knew using fingerprint to unlock wallet device is not good, specifically mobile phones. We know already that we should not have too much bitcoin on a mobile wallet. Let us assume that you have little amount of bitcoin on a mobile bitcoin wallet like Electrum or Bluewallet but you still want security.

Fingerprint is not secure, what about face unlock?

It is the same as a fingerprint lock- one mistake can cost a person hundreds of thousands in damages due to theft.

Currently, Bitpay offers a Face ID lock together with your wallet password before you can transfer your funds from one wallet to another. In this case, at least, there is an additional layer of security when Face ID was used in conjunction with providing your wallet password for transfer.

In contrast, if you use Face ID as the sole measure for your security, then you are putting your funds at extreme risk. Better, disable all kinds of fingerprint/face ID scans and only use your wallet password/key as the gateway to your funds and secure them in a safety deposit box for extreme security.
711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 04, 2023, 03:06:58 PM
What would be the best option if a friend who happens to be good at horse racing lost his fortune coming from betting in horse racing because of illness and came to you and asked for a loan and honestly stated that he wants to use it betting in horse racing to recover his fortune.

What's your best course of action in this scenario?

No matter what the situation is, if a person would borrow and ask for a loan and he would pay me back by gambling again, I would definitely avoid it.

Remember that it is definitely a bad idea to ask for a loan and your means of paying it is by gambling. No matter how good your friend may be when it comes to horse racing, at the end of the day, the results are not absolute. In fact, the chances of a person winning a definite outcome cannot apply to gambling due to its very nature surrounded by tons of risks and factors.

If I were in your shoes, I will probably borrow him money but at a relatively low amount and I would consider such as "money given" or donation; just for the purpose of friendship and good karma.
712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Glitches still affects online casinos? Or it's the casinos that sucks on: September 04, 2023, 02:51:28 PM
I haven't experienced this since before, but I've seen posts on social media or people asking for support about the glitch before, which really affects the gameplay and your momentum in playing. The problem really before is that the game has not been fully optimized, so it is still experiencing some bugs. In today's status, only a few of them are still not optimized, but right now it is really rare to hear about this issue.

This is those problems in which online casinos face in a daily basis. Due to its very nature existing digitally, expect at least a person to experience glitches from time-to-time. The casino must be prepared to answer and to address these issues as one (1) wrong move can break their established reputation which they built for years.

Also, I do not think that the issue of "bugs" is a rare issue as people encounter it frequently. This is the reason on why online gambling companies invest highly on their UIs and customer service support in order to address this common issue.
713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: September 04, 2023, 01:09:37 PM
So there you have it- Magnus winning yet again another tournament where he faced Alireza Firouzja in the finals in the Julius Baer Generation Cup!

I was actually aiming for the two to face in this match given the history between them. I also remember that Magnus once said that he would participate the next WCC if Firouzja is going to be his opponent. Though this may not be the WCC, at least it gave us a glimpse of the future and the matches that we may expect soon between them.

Again, a huge congratulations for Magnus for winning this tournament and another huge congratulations for Denis Lazavik as he showed on why he deserved to be on the top 5 of this tournament!
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When to invest in bitcoin on: September 03, 2023, 05:19:31 PM
Although the best time to buy bitcoin has always been during the dip periods or the bearish periods but I would say as long as the price is still around $30k or below it is still at its dip. So whenever you have money at hand that time is the best time to buy bitcoin and not longing for a dip in price.

Also you could utilize the the Dollar Cost Averaging method, it will be perfect for periods like this

I would argue that the best time for a person to invest in BTC is the time when they discover its existence.

The moment that you learned about the basics/fundamentals of BTC, that should be the time where you should invest your money. The opportunities and potential breakthroughs that BTC may bring is just too good for a person to ignore. By basing it also purely on its price history, you would see that its price has significantly increased on the market.

Word of advice: do not be the kind of people who invest only on BTC due to its hype without fully understanding this subject.
715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to join best bounty and earn money? on: September 03, 2023, 05:06:03 PM
I don't understand there are so many bounty in bounty section. Because a YouTuber made video and I saw. He says make account and than earn money with bounty and I don't have knowledge?

Do not believe on what YouTubers say about bounties- most are filled with scams that only wastes your time and it also contributes to the overall spam in the forum.

I have noticed that majority of the newbies who create their account in this forum are so inclined in joining bounties. I mean, I understand that you guys want to earn/make money but this method is not as effective compared to other methods in this forum.

Personally, I would recommend that you equip yourself with the knowledge about cryptocurrencies in order to gain merit. From there, you may join and participate in campaign signatures as they pay you weekly with cryptocurrencies.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much it cost to most ALL internet with your casino advertisement? $6.2m/d on: September 03, 2023, 04:27:47 PM
Casinos are better off with affiliate marketing and partnerships and dedicated forums for gamblers like this section here in Bitcointalk, They are proven to convert, and casinos will not waste money on places that do not convert, It has been proven that affiliate marketing can bring in gamblers, it's been proven and tested those links in your spreadsheets are goods places to promote but they prefer to give more attention to influencers and proven platforms that has a good flow of traffic.

I think one of the effective ways to attract new customers in gambling is by advertisement in the forum and by providing various rewards/bonuses to its users.

While these may all be considered as the initial stage of the gambling website, the best advertisement is their proper service and system. While there may be casinos who spend $$$ of dollars in advertisements, some still fail due to a concrete flaw on their system on how they operate it.

Like what I also mentioned, the best advertisement is one's service to its designated clients and userbase. If you truly care for your players, then their needs are at the most priority in order to establish your name amongst the thousands of gambling websites in the market.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Socialtournaments-A way to stop gambling on: September 03, 2023, 03:56:37 PM
I don't know if many of you knows SocialTournaments where they hold free tournaments with different types, maximum multiplier, total points score and other related slot machines tournament, they are managed by Pragmatic Play provider and it is a way to invite people to gambling but I see it as an alternative to people who are addicted, they can stop the addiction as they offer enough daily, weekly and monthly tournaments to keep you entertained without you spending any money and if you are in luck and get the biggest multiplier or biggest score you even win real money to your account which you can withdraw to your crypto wallets.

I am in no way affiliated with them and you need big KYC,Proof of Address,National ID and Proof of Wallet to get your money.Do you think this platform can help people remove addiction,I think it can be a big boost to do so.

By the way, your title is a little unrelated to the content of your topic, the title should be to stop gambling addiction, not gambling.

Even though I've just heard of tournaments like this, I'm quite pessimistic that it will have a big impact on stopping them from gambling addiction, because what gambling addicts actually aim for is real winning money (they've lost a lot so they hope to be able to get their money back missing). The tournament above will certainly attract the interest of many gamblers, but only for those who consider gambling to be entertainment.

I agree with your statement.

While I do recognize the efforts of creating social tournaments in order to combat gambling addiction, this just further intensifies the act of gambling in itself. To put it clearly, it brings more harm than good especially to those people who are striving to absolutely cure their addiction from gambling.

Like what I have suggested, a person who aims to cure their addiction should slowly but totally remove any form of gambling on their system. By introducing social tournaments, this gives these people a reason to gamble albeit no money is involved.
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A typical weekend in sport betting-Why do gamblers still do sport bets? on: September 03, 2023, 02:28:36 PM
I am checking that in every single league of the big ones we have seen at least some surprise result and this is the typical weekend of many of the sport bettors.I wonder why do people still place sport bets because in slot machines I can understand, they run after the maximum payout and they know it is a game of pure luck, yet in here in sport betting it is not only pure luck, there is also skill involved and seeing many of the stronger teams lose their game today means that it is not worth doing anymore sport betting.

What is the reason that sport bettors still continue to place sport bets?

Well for starters, watching sports is just really enjoyable.

If you are a fan of a given sport, chances are, you probably have an idea regarding the circumstances of such league. This person would know all the fundamentals, the changes, and all the recent changes that happened on such sport which would give him an idea on what team/s is/are performing well or poorly.

With this in mind, a person may have an idea on which team would probably win against another team. It is like, you apply your knowledge and this lessens the risk of you losing in the process.
719  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 02, 2023, 06:05:40 PM
There is a halving coming next year to which many people who know and have bitcoins have set a target of the amount they hope to have in their holding by the time the bull run begins. I like to know if with this knowledge of bitcoin halving coming, if anyone is investing in anything other than bitcoins. I do not mean alt-coin but things like Real Estate, stocks, bonds etc. I know that Real Estate is good to invest in, but asides real estate, what else are you risking the money you should to invest more in bitcoins on?

As someone who has a limited budget and less means of earning income, I would say that investing in BTC is my primary investment. While I do want to invest in real estate and stocks, I do not have the funds and the knowledge to take part in a competitive investment field.

Like what I previously mentioned, diversifying your investment portfolio is definitely recommended in order to lessen the risks of losing your money; and maximizing your outputs at the end. But at the end of the day, I consider BTCs as my primary investment due to its significant potential of doubling or tripling its price in a shorter amount of time compared to the present investment mechanisms on the market.
720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 02, 2023, 05:42:53 PM
For people like us who still struggles to invest money on Bitcoin I want to know if one day, 1 sat can ever cost as much as 1 cent? Is this possible? Sorry I can't afford to dollar cost into Bitcoin like everyone else, it's very hard for me, all I need is hope.

I can only afford to invest into Bitcoin once in two month and that's not every with big money, you should understand my situation, I am too shamed to call a number.

Is there any hope for small Bitcoin buyers like myself? Can 1Sat ever be 1 Cent one day?

Of course there is always hope for anyone who has a relatively small budget when it comes to investing in BTC.

The good thing is, you are aware of its potential but your budget is what sets you back from investing large sums of BTC at once. In my opinion, just continue your pace and increase your investments slowly but surely. It does not matter on how huge your initial investment is- what matters is that you are consistent with your decision on investing in BTC.

If I were to suggest, I do recommend that you explore different methods of earning BTC. You can offer your services or even participate in campaign signatures in order to earn BTCs in a relatively faster rate.
