2061  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Loanbase Security Breach on: February 10, 2016, 09:17:12 AM
Yeah stupid me, I should have varied the passwords even for just 1 letter per platform. Good thing I don't have anything stored on those exchanges. I've activated 2FA for all too.
2062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 10, 2016, 09:14:19 AM
My picks for today NBA matches.
My favourite Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets, over total points. i'm sure this match will be over.
Milwaukee Bucks vs Boston Celtics. i pick boston celtics spread and over total points.
Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs. I pick spurs spread and under total points.

I like the over for Warriors and Rockets too. Don't see too much defense but more run and gun type offense from both sides. Especially first half, should be over.

I picked Celtics to win as well but they lost by just a point, nice tight win by the bucks though. The Celtics tried to catch up going to the end but failed to complete a comeback.
Celtics just lost their focus during the 3rd quarter gave away their lead that fast also i thought the game was going overtime until they fouled on the last remaining seconds.

They do that a lot of times, I hope Brad Stevens would step up more during that situations.
2063  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Loanbase Security Breach on: February 09, 2016, 06:34:20 AM
Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, please change your passwords in LoanBase, and any other services you have the same e-mail and password used to. Activate your 2FA! Apparently I have the same passwords for my PoloniEX, BTER, and BTC-e accounts.

I only noticed it now, that last Feb 7 there was an e-mail by LoanBase that their database has been breached, and the attacker had access to account usernames and passwords.

The same day, I had 3 e-mails, 1 PoloniEX, 1 BTER, and 1 BTC-e, each saying there was successful authorization/logins. Fortunately I don't keep money on exchanges. 2FA was disabled for those accounts.

Just to be safe, use 2FA and change your password!
2064  Economy / Speculation / Re: EU is about to end bitcoin anonymity. Price reaction? on: February 08, 2016, 03:35:35 PM
As for us the average users, we shouldn't be that badly affected at all, so there's no reason to panic.

That being said it wont affect the price as much as the current block size issue does.
2065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 07, 2016, 02:24:43 PM
MIN vs CHI awhile ago was astounding. Too bad I didn't bet for MIN on that. On the other hand, HOU's performance vs POR was just sad.

Moving on, it's the Clips vs Bulls. Am going to bet for a Clips win on this.

Hi guys, the zeny is sold out at the moment.
2067  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: February 07, 2016, 01:48:58 PM
This concerns me about what will happen to bitcoin price after 2016 ? Will it crash after the block halving ? Is there any upcoming incident in 2017-18 that may push the price up again ?

Here's my prediction: By summer 2016 the price of Bitcoin will be aruond $500 and from that point it will grow steadily, 20%-25% per year, so it will be around $600 in 2017, and it will be around $730 in 2018. The main reasons for the growing are that Bitcoin will be introduced (in a good way) to more people.

Pretty bold of you to think that. There are a lot of factors and it'll remain unpredictable. So to be more realistic, I suppose it'll be up this year about $500 like you've predicted but will go down to $400 again come 2017.
2068  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin better or paypal? on: February 07, 2016, 01:39:27 PM
Why not use the best of both worlds?

From experience as an online seller I only handle about 2-3% of transactions in BTC, the rest is in Paypal. Yeah, that's about 2-3 in a hundred transactions.
2069  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LoanBase (BitLendingClub) partnering with a collection agency on: February 07, 2016, 04:05:36 AM
Has anyone tried LoanBase's new autoinvest feature? I kind of need feedbacks, haven't decided if investing in there is worth it now.

Just sent 1 BTC there to try their autoinvest. Hoping for good returns!  Cool

Hi! I'm thinking of investing something in here right now, how's your investment doing?
2070  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? (MARKET CYCLE UPDATED, VOTES RESET) on: February 07, 2016, 03:36:35 AM
As more and more time passes by I think we're all in denial.  The trend is now down.

When the Bitcoin Core decides to adopt higher block size, the price will rise dramatically. It will be at least $600.

I agree.  But what if that comes 4 - 5 years from now...?  So BTC price will stay at current level or lower?

True, and for the doubters, haven't you guys been here long enough, we've seen lows of down to $200 last year. It's a really complex cycle, a lot of factors blend in and it takes time.

What I'm concerned today is this statement:

"It's proven easier to get a bank to participate in payments standards than a bitcoin community company," by the W3C Web Payments. He further added that "these companies aren’t looking to interoperate, but instead want to dominate."

It's easy to assume that they'll kill BTC if given the chance right now.
2071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take it from me: Bitcoin will NOT die in our lifetime. on: February 06, 2016, 03:53:19 PM
100% correct. the last bitcoin will be mined in 100 years from now...

The thing is this coming halving can make or break BTC. There's a lot of expectation in increase in price and such. If it goes otherwise we may see another crisis.
2072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 06, 2016, 03:47:38 PM
Betting on HOU on the HOU vs POR game. Really hope they have already fixed the team chemistry issue and start playing real games.
2073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Europe unfriendlyness is growing on: February 03, 2016, 01:38:20 PM
So this is why the news:

http://www.coindesk.com/european-commission-customer-data-bitcoin-exchanges-wallets/

After what happened to Paris I suppose we should have expected this. Perhaps we wouldn't be able anymore to deposit on EU exchanges without any verification like we used to.
2074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to hit $2016 by the end of 2016 on: February 03, 2016, 12:45:36 AM
this thread is basically the same as the thread where op thinks we may see $3600 this year. we haven't even reached $1000 let alone $600 and people start already with speculating about the bitcoin price being worth a few $k. we might see the price reach a few $k in 2018 or later. this year not.

A little bit of a positive outlook can help in a lot of ways. OP is just being optimistic no need to tell him that.

But yeah all we know as of the moment is we'll have a rise this year.
2075  Economy / Speculation / Re: What moves bitcoin price? on: February 01, 2016, 05:15:21 PM
as far as i know the people who buy and sell bitcoins regulate the price, if there is no interest in bitcoin the price will fall and if people will want to get it more and more the price will grow
There are many people that panic and sell their bitcoins and that causes most of the sudden price drops.

Usually if the issue is not too serious these orders just get absorb by the market and not felt. Developmental issues are what's worse and has the capability to really bring in new lows - like what we're having right now.
2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ransom demanded from an attacker on: February 01, 2016, 05:13:17 PM
Install a good antivirus(it cost you up to 60 usd per year) if you really want to be protected and back up your daily/weekly.

The AV will not stop a hacker, if he has remote access to your computer or server via a backdoor. They will exploit that and just encrypt your data. We used to do that in a class room environment at school <many years ago> and we used a simply encryption in Pkzip. <Just backup and password protect the zip file and delete the data>

It was mostly for fun to get some extra food for lunch. The data was usually homework that was done by the students. We got caught and we got a massive hiding, which ended our hacking extortion scheme and cut off our extra food.

Any tips to prevent this from happening to us, that is, aside from not downloading crap received from emails?
2077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 01, 2016, 07:04:09 AM
San Antonio is a big disappointment this season in big matches. First they lost against Golden State and now they lost against Cleveland Cavaliers. They are playing great for other matches but they can't concentrate on competitive games. Luckily they still have time to get over this problem.

You need not to worry, San Antonio is famous for that. Remember the 2011/2012 season game wherein they're facing the Lebron led Miami Heat, Pop didn't even bother letting Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker play. I remember they were fined for that. It's Pop's strategy,  not letting his card shown for season games.
2078  Economy / Speculation / Re: We will be at 600+ again after all the FUD is cleared on: February 01, 2016, 07:00:14 AM
Y'all talking about core devs fixing things...
You realize they have been 'solving' these issues for like 4 years right...? What changed this time? Oh wait nothing changed, we will still be having this same discussion 2 years from now when the price is 10-30 and Y'all be saying devs are almost ready to roll out the solution.

Until I see some actual improvements I remain skeptical.

IF solutions are implemented, bitcoin can be really great.

Well the devs admit themselves they suck at communicating
Stuff does go on behind the scenes on their github discussions and website but not everyone really bothers to look there for stuff.
Until the implementation is done I'm with you skeptical but getting hopeful that we are boiling down to the essence of what needs to be done and implemented.

If they could have a spokesperson for the dev team that would have changed a lot of perceptions, and maybe, even the price. They've got a lot going on in there that needs to get vent out.
2079  Economy / Exchanges / Re: is Cryptsy about to fold over??? on: January 31, 2016, 02:32:05 PM
Thanks for suggestions. You confirmed that poloniex is a way to go as I hoped.

Poloniex is the largest altcoin trading platform now. The volume there for Ethereum is huge. It is more than all the other exchanges combined.

I've read from somewhere here in the forum that there are some kind of hack-related issues on certain accounts in PoloniEX. Just to be sure, spread your assets into 2-3 exchanges so if something comes up you're not fully hit.

WTF now the 76ers are owning GS and I won't be surprised if they win.

cant believe sixers even hung with the warriors that long lol.

Of course the warriors hit the huge 3 and break philly hearts!

If Philly won we would have seen new millionares. This is how crazy NBA basketball is. Damn that Barnes game winning triple, it was so heroic.
