1961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin ever goes mainstream on: March 03, 2016, 04:38:58 AM
The more the merrier.

For me bitcoin doesn't have to succeed, it already did. The people made bitcoin and the banks got scared big time.

Now it is for them introducing a new scheme Wink

I do not think banks should be scared of bitcoin. This is new business opportunity for them. They can continue banking with bitccoin besides fiat.

of course the banks will be wary of bitcoin. because bitcoin is potential to unseat fiat. so appropriate when the bank became fearful.

Bitcoin will never be able to 'unseat' fiat. Fiat is fiat and btc is btc, one complements the weaknesses of each other. Besides, no nation would use a non-central bank regulated currency for their country.
1962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: March 02, 2016, 11:43:58 PM
some of the people around me are accepting bitcoin and have invested some money in it too. but some of them are not so excited to know about bitcoin but they are definitely excited to see a price rise they will come back then.

In my environment the ones who are open to new things and techsavy are listening carefully when i tell them about bitcoin, but not yet investing.
Others don't want anything to do with it.

In here, they just go yeah-yeah-bla-bla libertarian money yeah. It's their loss, I don't mind.
1963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: March 02, 2016, 03:17:02 PM
Why focus on the halving anyway, just hold your coins.

Sometimes I don't get why people just think of BTC like some kind of an HYIP. It's supposedly a way to transfer value not grow it.
1964  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price rise is over on: March 02, 2016, 11:00:20 AM
The price rise is not that over. You can see now that the price is rising slowly and that will be so good.
But than we can have also a lot of money later and that will be very good. But it is hard to predict.

Probably this level where we are now is the floor. The block size debate is soon coming to a conclusion, so I guess this is where the rise begins.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

I'd like to see BTC break the $500 barrier in the next 2 months, let's hope it does.
1965  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are some services that pays the transaction fees for you? on: March 02, 2016, 10:57:41 AM
As for me, I am from Philippines and I have been using coins.ph  (an exchange site) for everyday uses, they are the ones paying the transaction fee like xapo and they are sending my coins with a High priority fee so it is really more convinient for me. Cheesy
Tho I wouldn' stick up too much to wallets which I don't have full control with just because they are the ones who are shouldering the fee. Security is much more to weight. So, just so you don't know, if you are storing big money then avoid using web wallet.

I'm also using Coins.ph but no, only if I'm selling BTCBTCBTC. I don't hold funds in there. You're better off using a BlockChain wallet.
1966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: March 02, 2016, 08:40:41 AM
Milwaukee - Indiana for me Milwaukee will win this game they are trying to catch 8 spot for playoffs.

Then they'd have to face a fierce Paul George on his hunt for redemption. Indiana in here for me.  Smiley
1967  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to Chinese mining companies if there is no halving price rise? on: March 02, 2016, 06:09:39 AM
They still get paid daily as mentioned.

I`m sure it wont hurt them at all. Unless bitcoin really dropped back to the $100 valuation or something drastic then they would force to downsize.

Most already made back their money I`m sure.

While it's true that the halving wouldn't hurt them all, a huge chunk of them would probably stop mining if there isn't a compensation in the fees or the price of BTC. Only those with real cheap electricity, like BitMain, would be able to continue for a while.
1968  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Burger King Accepts Bitcoin on: March 01, 2016, 03:50:40 PM
Even if it is just a franchise this is outstanding visibility for bitcoin.  I'm sure lots of people who visit Burger King have never heard much about bitcoin and so to see it being accepted in a mainstream outlet is a good thing!

Eh, maybe to an outsider. In reality, though, people should understand how businesses work. I can pay a small sum of money to get a franchisee license for McDonald's. I can then tell people I accept BTC. That doesn't magically make McDonald's accept BTC -- it just means I do.

In the case of this, Burger King doesn't care if the owner accepts BTC, Zimbabwe dollars, or rocks -- they only care that they are paid in fiat, in the proper amount, every month. They don't care where it comes from or how he got it.

Well in the end it's still a brick-and-mortar merchant, something that bitcoin needs for continued patronage.

I hope lots of stores here in my country would accept btc too, here in mine, only 1 or 2 uptown stores in the city's finance district accepts btc.
1969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the Future of Bitcoin Lies in Europe on: March 01, 2016, 03:47:05 PM
The future of Bitcoin lies in global use.

When the big exchanges will not be only from USA and China, when every country will have at least in airports and shopping centers bitcoin ATMs, when you'll be able to buy with BTC from your fav shop in your city/country, when selling bitcoin for your local currency is not an issue / a tough task, then Bitcoin is a succes. Globally.

their is no need for Bitcoin ATM's

ur Smartphone has 1 million X the power of an ATM

But you'd still want to hold cash right? It's a matter of preference I suppose, so yes Bitcoin ATMs would still have a market.
1970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why most of btc users are russians? on: February 29, 2016, 03:00:23 PM
I don't know where you got this Info. but according to me the users seems well scattered. mostly I see people from US, India and EU and some of course Russians.
As far as Russian being scamers, nah u don't think I haven't seen any Russian to scam, but then scammer don't have a country  Undecided

Totally agree. I have many Russian friends and they are all honest people by nature and in their culture.

I think many scammers just pretend to be from Russia just because most people think it is difficult to trace someone from a country so far and less understood.

It's nothing out of the ordinary, as the bitcoin community is really diverse. You should be bothered though if one day you receive an e-mail from a Nigerian prince that wants to give his bitcoins to you - this one is a well known scam.
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: February 29, 2016, 02:52:22 PM
Cleveland will definitely win the next match. that should be an easy win

Vs Indiana? Not much of an easy win for them after getting whacked by Wall and the Wizards. George is a different beast this season, he's a person truly living the quote 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.'
1972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's help change the world with bitcoin on: February 28, 2016, 05:24:18 PM
You can check similar websites on this post.

Yes from what I understand sci-hub does use the libgen database and if a paper isn't on that, they use 'donated' subscriptions to get it from the publisher then add it to libgen, thereby expanding the free scientific library.

I'm kinda looking for more organizations like that.
1973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Let's help change the world with bitcoin on: February 28, 2016, 04:19:59 PM
We all know WikiLeaks, and how bitcoin has pushed through with keeping the whistle-blowing site around. In line with that, I'd just wanna aggregate and discover new 'unconventional' organizations that truly helps the world but cannot get funding through traditional means. And hopefully get them here for everyone to donate to every now and then with their coins.

The only one I know for now:

Sci-hub - Sci-hub . io - Breaking borders (and paywalls) in scientific research, dubbed the "PirateBay of Scientific Journals." Basically a huge library for everyone to get around paywalls for scientific articles.

Anymore, guys?

How long does Bittrex usually process withdrawals for BYC? It's been 20 minutes till the status was 'completed' but it still doesn't appear on the blockchain.

for 5 minutes usially

Right? Usually I get the withdrawals almost instantly after it being 'completed' on their side.

But anyway, I grabbed something to eat out for dinner and when I came back it was there. Probably took an hour. We really should get BYC on other exchanges, if something happens to BittrEX it's gonna be a huge problem.

I'm dropping by Polo to see what I can do.

1976  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going Up to 500? on: February 28, 2016, 06:27:08 AM
i think after the bitcoin roundtable we are going to see some movement again. and since the price has been over $400 for enough time that everybody could accumulate at this rate this time the price is going to $500 +-$15

Probably in a month or so, A jump like that would entail a lot of sells, and consequently, a price fall. Let's leave it be for a slow climb.
1977  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Predict the price of BTC for April 1st & win a physical coin on: February 28, 2016, 05:22:05 AM
that is a litecoin. no thanks.

Well he said you would win a physical coin, not physical bitcoin to be exact.

@ontopic I don't know why the need for an e-mail for that, perhaps you're trying to grow your list?  Smiley
1978  Economy / Speculation / Re: I sold at the right moment :) on: February 28, 2016, 04:18:56 AM
Did anyone else make a quick hundred bucks? I sold when bitcoin touched $440, and I rebought a few minutes later when the price hit $420. Free monies!

which exchanger are you using for your trades because i was looking at the charts but i can not find anything higher than $435 which was on Bitfinex

Probably on a Chinese exchange, prices are almost always a bit higher on there.
1979  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I need investors! on: February 28, 2016, 04:15:53 AM
You can probably post specifics for people to take your offer legitimately, like the floor area of your proposed farm, what miner chips will you be purchasing, how you would the dividends be paid for, etc.  Smiley

Wow, for some reason I always keep checking this thread for any new posts.
Of course Barwizi is long gone, off saving the world somewhere in his head...

A community takeover or a takeover by anybody even remotely interested in making something out of this project might be the way to go I guess.
As far as I'm concerned this project is abandoned at this point, so upside to that is that it can only get better from here on  Wink

Probably let's just leave this as it is and move on. Lesson learned.
