OK i have 3 blocks all 15% lower than average
17983
18000
18006

but whats worrying is my average earnings

March .25
April .20
May .10

Is everyone seeing this drop in earnings, as its getting to a point of not being worth mining

Two things are causing that, and it's completely normal.  Difficulty increases, and more miners entering the field.  And alot of those new miners are ASIC miners, which are probably causing the volatility everyone is talking about on this pool.

Everyone is freaking out over a perfectly normal occurrence.  But they don't see it that way, because their earnings are going down...

yes the earnings are dropping seemingly faster then expected, but maybe it is just a perception. I just started mining in March, so i have no idea how it was earlier when difficulty was increasing. Though this is the way it is supposed to be by algorithm (earnings drop with time) it is a bit depressing to see the how earnings drop even when my hash increases.

Well boys its time to say goodbye, will turn off my system when i get back home tomorrow night.

I knew the difficulty made a difference but not that much and so quick.

ill cash in my BTC and sell my cards and maybe even sell my butterfly order, as i dont think the 30GH is going to be worth it once i get it

same her i was expecting a slow decrease in earning as BFL have not really started dumping lots on the pools.

i increased my rate to 3GH and seen a drop from .01 to .007, so over a 25% drop and thats with a 50% increase in my mining rate

The system is designed to hand out blocks at a set pace.  The reward is scheduled to be cut in half roughly every 4 years.  So when a large number of miners come on line with ASICS, and start hashing away, that increases the total network hash rate by a lot.  Which means the difficulty has to go up a lot to compensate, and keep the blocks coming at the same pace.

So it's all relative, the higher the network hash rate, the higher the difficulty and vice versa.

seems to me slushs pool is dying, no new miners coming online, staying static whilst other pools are going up.

maybe i will just hop over to one of the growing pools

slushs luck is just dropping all the time, we get 1 good day and then 3-4 crap days

Maybe not on the pool, but definitely on the thread.  I was gone for the weekend and came back to 12 new pages.  Pretty typical in the last few weeks unfortunately...

Dying?  Interesting as the last time I checked the stats it was the first time I've seen it consistently over 10GH/s Wink

ok its gone from 7GH to 10GH in the last 3 months

and its gone from 16% to 8% in total network hashing rate, and evey week it gets lower and lower.

And as pointed out we used to be bigger and better that most, now they are infront

equal 6th with bitminter, from 2nd 3rd. so maybe not dying but slowly losing ground with other pools

You are aware of the fact that ASICminer is working on BitMinter and BTCGuild, which makes most of their hashrate right?

Whilst it's true an increased total hashrate will bring the rewards down, surely (excluding Luck) probability dictates they should be more frequent.

They should be as frequent (on average) not more frequent. But this is only if the pool doesn't lose hash power relative to other pools.

Doesn't matter. If you mine in pools with larger hash rates, you will get proportionally fewer rewards PER BLOCK, but the pool as a whole will find more blocks due to the higher hash rate. In other words, your average rewards over time will be the same (aside from pool fees, whether pools share transaction fees, etc). Only thing is that variance will probably be lower with higher hashrate.

If you go and read the Bitminter pool thread, you will see many pages of people worrying about that pool's run of bad luck a couple weeks back. If you read Ozcoin's thread, they were hacked and the pool operator had to take out a loan on I believe 1000+ BTC. Every pool has issues, grass is always greener on the other side.

People often wonder about Wall St and why stocks go up and down or crash one day or the other. It's the investors. With cryptocurrencies, it's no different. FUD is FUD. DDoS on a pool? People bail and prices plummet. ASICs are really shipping? Prices go up. Vircurex got hacked or Ozcoin got hacked? People panic and bail again. Don't invest with your emotions. You'll just become a Wall St trader.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Thanks!   That edit works to fix connection problem.  But code needs work, slush items like estimated reward don't work as is.

I tweaked it a bit on mine to give:

That looks very cool... how did you do it?
