The shares/difficulty is what matters. When Difficulty is 40,000,000 18,719,950 shares will be very nice ... For block 206888, 18,719,950 is only 566.5% You'll find them sometimes over 800% ... though I'm not sure if any big pool has yet hit 900%

The current block height is 202879, so around 202879 blocks have been solved (ignoring orphans). So we'd expect the longest round ever to have a CDF of ~ (202879-1)/202879.
The quantile function for shares per round / D ~ -log(1 - prob)
So the largest shares per round / D I'd expect in 202879 blocks would be in the neighbourhood of:
-log(1-(202879-1)/202879) ~ 12.22 x D or 1222% of D.
We've got huge rounds to look forward to!
Edit: Unless they already happened.

namecoind managed to deadlock itself AGAIN. Did anyone notice? No? Because Monit just killed and restarted it. Monit is an awesome tool ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) This should allow us to keep namecoins for a while without issues. But if namecoin is no longer maintained and security problems start to appear then it's good night namecoin. In my opinion namecoin has a lot of potential, but if developers don't keep working on it then it becomes a security risk running old unmaintained software. Let's hope they don't let it end like that.

Thanks for the hint on that one. Works much better than Nagios just telling me something is broken. The real question is: Have you setup monit to monitor everything else the bitminter technology stack?
Working on it. I wanted to see first how Monit worked out, and it is looking great. I could get used to this sort of hands-off server administration. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I'll have to add pidfiles for my own apps - I don't think Monit will work right without those.

BitMinter now supported at http://json.karasoft.com/ with predefined templates. While BTCmon and Bitcoinium are great on phones, this one is perfect on big screens - it can show a lot of information at the same time and is very configurable. I added a new menu on the bitminter website, "tools" -> "third party apps", where you can find the apps and sites with BitMinter support.
