Already received as of 9:15 AM CST today pretty much all of what was received yesterday. Looks to be a good day Cheesy Gotta love variance in any pool. Keep up the good work Bitminter and DrHaribo!
Man, you said it, and now again, we're at another hell-block. Oh well. Just another day in the mines... *hums the tune to The Song of the Volga Boatmen*
72% CDF is no hell block. But at this difficulty even most lucky blocks will require a considerable amount of work.

No doubt Sad This last difficultly jump REALLY hurts square in the male genitalia. Almost makes me want to get out of the game entirely looking into my crystal ball over the next six-months-to-a-year Undecided

With bearish USD/BTC exchange and skyrocketing difficulty, you're not the only one in this mood...
But I keep singing to myself: After the rain (halving, nov 2012) comes sun (early 2013), After the sun comes rain again (April 10th and still getting wet...). Common, now leeeeet the sun shine Wink

On a less singing note, let's also all remember that we need BTC to actually get used as part of a real economy if we want mining to still make sense (and profits) in the long run. Same goes for coin hoarders...

Still, I'm optimistic for the future of BTC, but we will probably have to go through a desert for at least a couple of months now.

CloudHashing is interesting. It's important that there are a few different ways to take part in mining, depending on your needs. At the moment things are a bit slow. GPU mining is becoming unprofitable for most and only a few people are able to get (overpriced) ASICs. There are many people new to Bitcoin who want to take part in mining, but they can't really find an option that makes sense.

PPS is starting to get tempting at this difficulty. I'm torn between investing in ASIC hardware to keep up in the hash rate wars or just playing the currency  Sad

The current state of mining feels like chasing the dragon and just pumping more BTC into the big players for more hardware to try and keep up. When will the hash rate level out? All this arms race does is increase the hardware and electricity costs for everyone except those producing the chips.

My goal was to try and get to the top 25 in the mint and keep my position there by reinvesting all mining profits but the more I consider this I think I will just make my losses larger.

Playing the market is quick without having to babysit a farm, there sure were some nice swings yesterday. So conflicted right now!

I think in the long run PPS is going to go the way of the dodo.  It's just too risky for the pool.  Look at what happened to Ozcoin.

Everything is supposed to balance out ... BTC price is supposed to match difficulty.  I'm still making money here only because I have really cheap electricity (0.05 kw/h).  None the less I'm working on phasing out my GPUs.

Just today I started look at other pools to see if I could find one with more hashpower, and hence less variance.  There were a few, but all had higher fees AND no NMC mining.  I'm even contemplating switching entirely to solo once all my GPUs are replaced by ASICs.  So I may only get a block once a twice a year.  But with cheap electricity and only ASICs, I think I can afford it and still come out ahead.  Especially if I can merge mine.

Maybe what we need to do is start recruiting more Bitminter users. Smiley

CloudHosting will be coming online in a few weeks or a months time, they will have a lot of xTH/s available.
I would stick with this pool for now and see how much xTH/s they add  Grin

well no one offered asics at a good price except bfl = waiting ... so I now have a 6.2 ghs gpu farm and I am shrinking it.  I am waiting on 22GH hash from bfl. I purchased a 6gh contract from cloud hashing I also went in on a group buy of a mining rig from  bit fury.  AS OF TODAY AFTER A YEAR OF MINING i am up 3 or 4 thousand usd.  and I have the gpu farm I may get 2 or 3 k from the parts. I am done investing since 3 investments are all in the air.  my gpu farm is now making about 8 usd a day used to make over 100 at its peak. I was in the top 50 on this site for 8 months not any more.

They are not connected.

BTC price is driven purely by demand.

Lower price doesn't mean anything if you can't get it.

yes.. and the "invisible hand" is supposed to balance things out.  it's only when market manipulation (read: government) gets involved that things don't balance out.
