Pool is down!

Just restarting the mining service.. it's a bit slow on the restart though - I will work to improve that.

Doc - on the good side thanks for the prompt update.

On the down side - this should've been announced BEFORE the fact and not AFTER the fact. Mi miners wasted over half an hour just idling ... (and now I'll be seriously considering a better backup pool scheme)

And honestly - all of those restarts are just way too annoying and just make the whole pool look very unreliable.
I'm trying to remember a case when the pool has worked fine and non-stop for consecutive 7 days...

Oh and by the way - any ETA when the pool will be back up and operational?

Frankly I'm not a happy camper either.  Only reason I'm still here is it's the biggest pool that supports NMC merged mining.

actually i think BTC guild is now running a NMC in stratum

"Stratum Namecoin Rewards
As of this morning, rewards for merged mining via Stratum are now awarded to all users on PPLNS. To view your namecoin rewards, you must go to the Settings page and enable Namecoins on the right side.

NMC Payouts are currently only available through the automatic payout system. Manual payouts may be enabled at a future date. Many online exchanges for namecoins do allow the reuse of your Namecoin deposit addresses.

Additional data for Namecoin earnings and payouts will be added to the PPLNS Statistics and Payments page over the next few days. As a reminder, merged mining of Namecoins does not reduce your Bitcoin based earnings in any way."

We seem to be up and running again.

I see there has been logged a bunch of smaller DDoS attacks that were ineffective before the attacker escalated to 16 Gbps. Someone is trying pretty hard to keep BitMinter down.

On the down side - this should've been announced BEFORE the fact and not AFTER the fact. Mi miners wasted over half an hour just idling ... (and now I'll be seriously considering a better backup pool scheme)

That wasn't a restart but a 16+ Gbps DDoS attack.

Frankly I'm not a happy camper either.  Only reason I'm still here is it's the biggest pool that supports NMC merged mining.

Obviously this is what the attacker is trying to achieve.

It's not so much this.  Although annoying, it's the low hashrate and hence high variance.

This constant attack sucks, especially for you Doc

I hope you can make it more hassle than its worth, to make them give up whatever childish vendetta they have against you.

16.06Gbps DDoS attack.

Let's see what Black Lotus can do.

Doc,
Are attacks coming from same ip's Network. If yes just fuck um and filter them from core routers if possible. Some miners will not able to mine probably but you will keep the pool. Are the attacks coming from well known place? 16.06Gbps seems pretty high and is hard to make it happen from random Ip's changing on each attack
