That block just found by Sailermin was done with a 1.1G difficulty share. I hope we never see such a difficulty!
1.1G? Like...1.1 googol?

1.1G? Like...1.1 googol? Heh. I meant '1.1 billion'. A googol is nothing; try googolplex: http://www.googolplex.com/But everyone knows that G stands for Gazillion ... don't they?

will we reach 1 billion difficulty before Jan. 1, 2014? I'd put money on 'Yes'.
I'd say no. 20x current hash power in 3.5 months? Nah... Hmm. Yeah, just increasing the difficulty a certain % per adjustment is too simplistic. We gained enough hashing power for a difficulty jump of ~24 million (~177Th/s worth of new miners) in just 3 weeks. I'm of the opinion they will peak at a much higher amount of hashing power shipped per week eventually. Still... a difficulty of ~400 million by January 1st seems more reasonable.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.
... ... In the future, books that summarize the history of money will have a line that says, “and then came bitcoin.” It is the economic singularity. And we are living in it now. - Ryan Dickherber... ... ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)... ... The idea that deflation causes hoarding (to any problematic degree) is a lie used to justify theft of value from your savings.

Not to mention the extra $400 a week from merge-mined coins. BTCGuild recently started merged mining for namecoins although it seems to return about 1/2 the reward as BitMinter. And didn't Slush's Pool start doing it again too? Regardless, all of my USB Erupters will stay with BitMinter. I can't get them to work anywhere else, lol. But seriously, when my real ASICs finally arrive, I will continue to use BM as my primary pool. I always root for the underdog. Slush is not doing namecoins. FWIW, I have Erupters working here, Slush, and Eclipse at this moment, and have previously used 50BTC and BTCGuild. I'm using BFGMiner and Windows 7. What are you trying to use?

For GPU mining (Windows 7 & 8 ) I've only been able to get GUIminer working. I don't believe GUIminer supports ASICs. I've tried installing CGminer and BFGminer but I can never seem to follow the 15 pages of detailed instructions to get them working. That why I love the BitMinter client so much... it just works.

This worked well for me for the Erupters. Just substitute BTCGuild's pool info for your pool of choice. https://www.btcguild.com/index.php?page=support§ion=blockerupter

Thanks! It seems to be working this time. I don't really understand the information in the terminal window but I think my BE's are hashing away. Is there anyway to get the terminal window to display all of my Erupters? It seems to be showing only the first 14.

On windows, you can extend the view by right clicking the title bar, going to properties, and changing the height settings. You may need to restart for it to redraw the information.

The BitMinter client is great, but it only works with the BitMinter pool. BFGMiner/CGMiner works everywhere, if you want to spread the hashing love.

Its not the time to waist 4 day of mining with those increases. Next increase is already estimates @58 and were just 15% in this block.
I stay with bit minter.

Don't advertise other pools here please. There's plenty of room in the pools section for pools to advertise themselves in their own threads. This thread is about BitMinter.

I have a 3/31 Jalapeno that I did recently upgrade to 7 and I'm pretty sure by the time it gets to me I might be able to use it to warm a mug of coffee. That was a serious jump and we currently seem to be without WhitePhantom and CloudHashing As there are a few on Ebay now put some numbers on here http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/190e4d4536 (numbers for the 5.5 at list price and last months difficulty increase.) At current difficulty increase a coffee warmer by March 2014. So I think that must mean that difficulty should stabilize before then as there will be no point anyone buying an ASIC.

Rather newbie question - I've got 2 PCs each running some USB ASICs, and the Bitminter client pointing to the same account. Is there a problem with this set up, I don't seem to be getting the sort of output I'd hoped for?
Perhaps I'm just being impatient. Both machines show 'Approx. mint speed' as 0.04, so that ought to be 0.08 altogether.

I'm doing a little testing of idle worker notifications and a fix to get mining difficulty up faster with fast ASICs like 500 GH/s rigs. There will be a server restart for the changes to go live, hopefully within a few hours.

Upgrading the server now - may cause a minute or two of downtime. Ready for testing idle worker notifications. If you'd like to take part leave a message using the "contact" page on the website while you are logged in. I'll need to know each worker name and which hashrate threshold in MH/s you would like to use. You'll get an email if the worker drops below the selected threshold hashrate. As you have seen the server cannot accurately estimate your hashrate, so try a hashrate 25% or so below your normal hashrate. After a few days of testing I should have something on the website to use for selecting the idle threashold and activating/deactivating idle worker notifications. Add noreply@bitminter.com to your address book and/or antispam whitelist to ensure you can receive the mails.
