Zimbabwe is a very easy team for India if Zimbabwe could have kept their wickets played a little more carefully then Zimbabwe could have reached the target of victory India played well from the start its win was for India overall the game was enjoyable
Match was so tough to win for both teams at a certain time. If Zimbabwe played without losing wickets specially the wicket of Sikandar Raza, they had good chance to win over India. Brilliant performance from India at the end of that match and finally they managed to win perfectly.

Yea, these matches are getting awfully close. Zimbawe played really well.

Maybe it's home advantage? They definitely feel more comfortable than Indian players do. I really wanted to see an upset here Sad

I am guessing this was the end of the tour? Surprised that there aren't any T20 matches

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Only last match comes into being "close" category, previous 2 matches were one-sided and looked dead to me even by checking just scoreboard. Yeah would've been great if there was some sort of upset in the last game, 1 bad over here n there and things could've been gone in favor of Zimbabwe.

Small teams need these kinds of win against big teams every now n then but it'll be only possible if they play regularly.

Not forced but Banned for some drugs and bookie controversy in Mumbai. Brendan Taylor was excellent bat tho bt that's a full stop to his international career as he's already 35-ish.

Sikandar Raza is earning praise nowadays and rightly so, not sure if he's into franchise cricket but he should attract some new contract soon. This would help his game and Zimbabwe cricket as well.

Oh.. OK.. this is new information for me. Still I believe that Brendan Taylor was one of the most under-rated cricketers. He made his debut when he was extremely young and played a number of memorable knocks. But then he was in and out of the cricket team, thanks to the politics within ZC. It is unfortunate that we will never see him in action again.

Sikandar Raza seems to be in terrific form, but the age is not on his side. He is already 36 years old and at the most he maybe having 2-3 years of international cricket left. And who will replace him after his retirement?

Zimbabwe has a number of talented players in its squad. And they are consistently performing well. I would say Zimbabwe's main weakness is in its top order. Top orders or openers are not playing well. A win against a strong team is impossible if the top-order players cannot bat responsibly.

Zimbabwe will also need to strengthen their bowling line-up. They have to select the bowlers after checking the pitch condition. I don't know if Zimbabwe's coach is experienced. But right now Zimbabwe needs an experienced coach. Only then will Zimbabwe's overall performance improve somewhat.
Few decades back there was a golden chance for them as they can emerge as one of the best team in Africa and able to fight for their best results against other top teams but sadly due to Boards inner politics and having poor management they lost too many quality players those leave cricket and now Zimbabwe is in dilemma with most chances they can't recover and will stay on this level for long time because corruption is main issue for them and authorities are doing nothing for this even they are not caring about players and their domestic set up which need some good backup and better infrastructure for having good players in their main stream.

In last ODI I was eagerly watching they will win and have some good confidence but sadly in last two overs they lost this match and good chance for having 10 points in league table.
Zimbabwe managed to bounce back after a long time. Just look, Bangladesh have a good record in ODIs but Zimbabwe ignored them. People may have criticized Bangladesh's quality of play, but the reality is that Zimbabwe is not in the same position as before, their cricket has improved tremendously.

It is difficult task to pull the team out of disaster especially when that game is against a world cricket top team India. In that game, the deficit in the top order had to be made up by the middle order players and came back into the match through Sikandar Raja. So it is criticized all over the world   that Zimbabwe's Top order batsmen are relatively weak if they can fix that spot then Zimbabwe cricket could be known as a powerhouse.

I have no idea what is going on with the Zimbabwe cricket board at home at the moment.
The amount of money they receive from the ICC doesn't seem to be being used in a productive manner by them.

Besides, they are getting a decent amount of money from the ICC, compared to what the associates team is getting from the organization. It goes without saying that the corruption in the Zimbabwe cricket board is not helping the situation in any way. After the retirement of Sikandar Raza, I do not see any credible candidates as a replacement for him. Who may be able to carry the Zimbabwe team forward in the future? Sad

@SirLancelot I still remember watching some old games of the old Zimbabwe team. And I still remember how much the flower brothers were known throughout the whole world for the good performance that they often delivered. It was actually good to see those games because Zimbabwe actually played very competitively against the biggest names in cricket.

@GigaBit The Zimbabwe team is not actually very well-rounded. The top order is often a failure for Zimbabwe. And they don’t have any fearful bowling lineup that can actually do some damage to their opponent's batting lineup. Until they fix those problems they will not be able to win against better opponents regularly.

I don't know how much interested is the native population in the sport of cricket. They can't rely on the white and Asian players for too long, because that player pool is rapidly vanishing (although still we get quality players such as Brad Evans once in a while). Zimbabwe team until the late 90s used to be all-white, with Madondo, Olonga and Mbangwa being rare exceptions. But times have changed and due to political reasons the vast majority of the white population departed from that country. And unfortunately the black population doesn't seems to be too interested in cricket.

Sad

I think the native players are not very interested because probably the pay is not very good. But then again if the payment is not so good how can there be players in the team from another region?

That way they will be able to find actual talents which will be very helpful for them going into the future. And that will also make other kids interested in cricket in zimbabwe.

A big issue for few countries in this region like Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia they have no good enough black players in cricket and this all happening due to restrictions which set by white rulers few decades back and sadly now they have native black governments, but they completely fail to bring some fair system for all communities just because of this we are watching many issues in South Africa and Zimbabwe fail to bring any better quality and Zambia is also all gone with white players it's all about corruption and few other things which give them set back.

Because, I was feeling South Africa could be role model for many countries as they have resources and change of governments will bring some positive developments but their personal issues and political influence give them more shocks, and now they are still having not good enough system which give them quality players from all communities for national team.

Yes it is true that their team is not good now. If Zimbabwe and South Africa can improve their cricket boards better then their country will produce better players. But I think every government should pay attention to the cultural media that every country has. This civilization in culture can take a country to the heights of recognition and progress.Today there are some countries that people don't know about but through different sports all those countries are known all over the world. That is why I say that every country's government knows that all its cultural games express the importance of games.

Zimbabwe do have a well structured domestic system and more than 90% of the players are native African. But the problem is that the quality is not very good. And that is why they are very dependent on players who are based outside such as Sean Williams. In case of Sikandar Raza, he was originally born in Sialkot, but migrated to Zimbabwe when he was 16 years old. His case is unlike the case with the UAE national team, which just imports players from India and Pakistan. Raza started his cricketing career in Zimbabwe.

I believe that Zimbabwean team never really improved in ODI once their star player’s left, and since then they have only been in a one way decline mode. Furthermore I feel that if they had a strong fan base then it would have helped them put some pressure on their board, but since they don’t have a strong fan base I doubt that we’ll see them improve anytime soon.

They were never at a level where they can compete with the pig-4. During the late 90s, they improved a lot though. It was the peak period for Zimbabwe cricket. They had some very good players, such as Andy Flower, Alistair Campbell, Neil Johnson, Murray Goodwin, Stuart Carlisle, Henry Olonga, Heath Streak and Eddo Brandes. At that time, Zimbabwe was involved in several upsets. But all the players were lost due to political reasons and the team went in to decline soon after. For a while players such as Tatenda Taibu tried to put up some fight, but it was of no use.

I think the native players are not very interested because probably the pay is not very good. But then again if the payment is not so good how can there be players in the team from another region?

Sikandar Raza is it, a Pakistani-born player. He wouldn’t have been on the team if the pay was not good. So, I think it’s something else. There must be players who really wish to be on the national team right?

I know that there are a lot of problems in the country and also on the board. I just think that they should arrange for more talent hunts in the country. That way they will be able to find actual talents which will be very helpful for them going into the future. And that will also make other kids interested in cricket in zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe do have a well structured domestic system and more than 90% of the players are native African. But the problem is that the quality is not very good. His case is unlike the case with the UAE national team, which just imports players from India and Pakistan. Raza started his cricketing career in Zimbabwe.
If we observe such players, we will see many of them, they go from one country to another and play games. But there are some players in particular whose playing standards are so good, they move from their country to another country. They became citizens of that country. But we will see if we observe them. So I think we will see a lot of players like Sikandar Raza here. Zimbabwe does not have many good players. For this reason their condition is not good at all. It would have been better if Zimbabwe had a few more good players.

Actually in my opinion the Zimbabwe cricket board is the one to blame. They had a really good team and they also had a good thing going on quite a long while ago. But because of the problems between the players and the cricket board the Zimbabwe team absolutely fell apart. And I think that is a big reason why the native people are not interested in cricket so much. But I have to agree that players are really hard-working in the Zimbabwe cricket team. They actually give their heart and soul to the game.

Zimbabwe certainly does not have very good native players on the team. But I believe Zimbabwe found some good players, players like Christopher Mpofu, Who was actually very good. But they got lost in time. I really don’t know what happened to him. He showed some good performance early on. I remember him playing against Bangladesh and running through the batting lineup of the Bangladesh team. In my opinion, it is a problem of proper nurturing of the players.

At that time, Zimbabwe was involved in several upsets. But all the players were lost due to political reasons and the team went in to decline soon after.
If the cricketers of a country lose their interest, it is natural that there will be no good cricketers in that country. The cricket board of that country has the biggest role behind it. Zimbabwe could not do well in world cricket history and their cricket board was not in their favor, so their situation was gradually becoming critical. But recently, their name started to rise through the Bangladesh series. Also in the last match Zimbabwe cricket played a competitive game against India. Although their victory came very close, they did not win in at the end. But I can say spontaneously that, they are come back to the cricket.

As I explained in my previous post, back in 1990s the Zimbabwe team was dominated by white players. This was never going to work in the long term, because even back then whites were less than 1% of the population. And starting from the 1990s, whites began emigrating out of the country as a result of political violence. Now they are around 0.1% of the population. The transition was so quick that the native players never got adequate experience before getting involved in top level cricket. And I don't know whether Zimbabwe will ever reach a level where they were in the 1990s.

If any country wants quality native players it's not easy for them because it needs good structure and better facilities for players right now Zimbabwe is having political issues with corruption is also on high level which is preventing them from having good enough native players same happening in South Africa, but they have some better domestic setup, so they are enjoying with White players even many are migrating from them as well but still they can do better than Zimbabwe.

Here they were banned due to their corrupt system and now again doing some things better, but they can't compete with top six nations in cricket in any format which is the biggest issue even their past teams were capable of giving upsets but right now this is also not possible with their current quality.

At this time political parties are scrambling at every level to take their advantage. Even in a national cricket board that is supposed to be free of political influence, their dominance is reckless. Corruption has now reached its peak. Where the opportunity to make good player is very limited. The same thing happened in Zimbabwe where their cricket sustainability issue has become a big challenge.

I am sorry about this because political free environment is not available in Africa and most part of Asia because we have no education and better development for this all even it's not working in most part of South America right now Europeans, Americans and Australians are enjoying with this all because they change their system completely with fair policies and better educational system which is not working around these areas, so we have to live with this all for some more decades because I am sure it's not going to change in our lives this need sacrifice of generation, and then you can take good dividend from this all otherwise we have to live as we are living for last 2 centuries first under white colonies and now local are treating us like them.
