2061  Other / Meta / Re: Being able to comment on the merit given. on: March 29, 2019, 11:51:12 PM
You mean you would like to leave a comment when you drop someone some merit? Might be a neat idea for those inclined to so so

If you want it so people justify why they merit someone, I don't see it's value. Other than completely obvious merit abuse on a decent scale it isn't moderated. I also don't see the majority of people bothering to leave merit feedback.

2063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Canada approved paying bitcoin with Bitcoin on: March 29, 2019, 08:56:38 PM
How is it possible that only one town accepting taxes with bitcoin when the rest of Canada isn't?
Why is it like the central government does not control all the towns in regards to accepting taxes?
It seems some towns are independent and they can do whatever they wish to do. Is there any specific reason for this?

We have a division of powers that spread from the top down. I can't remember the exact breakdown but looked up this site for a breakdown.

Essentially we have Federal or Central. They can not be overridden by any of the lower levels of government.

Next would be Provincial or a State level of Government.

These 2 entities will collect a Federal Income tax , and Goods and Services Tax, and Provincial sales tax. They also take payment for any forms or services.

Then you have town or city government, Municipal. They collect a property tax. Each level can decide what payment methods they want to use, so it's not surprising to see`1 small town take this opportunity. The reason I point that out is I'd hate for someone to google search and see the government accepts payment that way, as this is a prevalent phone scam across Canada using Bitcoin ATM's

Edit: I forgot to add, that if the federal government were to place a ban on crypto the lower levels would have to comply.
2064  Other / Meta / Re: where I can post altcoin technical related thread on: March 29, 2019, 09:08:26 AM
OP isn't actually seeking help about their problem here, they just want to know the best place to post for help.

You can look around a few places to see the best fit.

You might be okay trying in Beginners and Help if your unfamiliar with what you are doing, maybe it's something simple.

Also there is Altcoin Discussion, maybe you can find something similar. This can be a hard board to get a good response on because there is a lot of "noise".

Depending on the exchange maybe try checking for a service discussion thread or something like that. There should also be an [ANN] thread for your coin maybe they can help
2065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Canada approved paying bitcoin with Bitcoin on: March 29, 2019, 08:42:35 AM
It's pretty interesting I hadn't heard of that. Mind you I do live in a different province. It would have been significantly cooler if the town was actually taking in BTC to their own wallet and deciding what to do from there. Baby steps though.

I suspect this is more of a tourism/awareness stunt to promote the town itself. Although they do seem to be trying to promote a progressive community, I dug a little deeper and they use subsidized Uber instead of public transit.

Edit: Just remembered you may want to change the title to "paying taxes with Bitcoin"
And to clarify it's only a single town, this would not represent the Canadian Government. They actually have warnings on their site stating they do not accept Cryptocurrency, to warn against scams.

More worrisome is a survey by the Canadian government asking people in a survey about their crypto investments and use of mixing services. Go through all the trouble of mixing only to say yeah I use them all the time.  Grin
2066  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 10 series announced on: March 29, 2019, 07:11:25 AM
That's awesome. I've been hoping they would come out with something. They aren't the best claimed numbers, but they are back in top contention.

Really excited to see the offering, though they may miss it with only a couple days left in the month. Great find Hagss, I'm beginning to think I need twitter to find anything out.
2067  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 29, 2019, 04:11:55 AM
Not happy with the support I've received from Pangolinminer.

Sorry to hear that is disappointing to say the least. I'm amazed they are expecting you to cover shipping both ways for the PSU. I get the one way for your damaged unit, with them covering the shipping of a replacement.
I know I had to make that call one time, and I just left it at a reduced hashrate, as it was an expense I never would have recovered. This was only a hashboard from different gear, so I wasn't worried about an overall failure down the road.

I wonder if the response would have been different if the PSU had failed completely, and not just partially with your own additional troubleshooting. I suggest you make a post in the Pangolin Service Discussion thread documenting this.
2068  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Whatsminer.net a MicroBT Distributor and seller of Hard goods on: March 28, 2019, 11:30:28 AM
They are a legit company for sure. I have not ordered from them personally but they are listed as an official distributor of the MicroBT hardware. There have been other forum members that have ordered from them. You could try PMing this member as he is directly affiliated with them. Good luck

2069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I send all my bitcoins to single address on: March 28, 2019, 11:28:20 AM
You can definitely do that. It's as easy as creating a receiving address in the new wallet you set up. Then go to each stash and send the coins to the newly created wallet.

Here is an informative thread about consolidating your inputs/coins.

2070  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ebit miners review ,durability and stablity on: March 28, 2019, 08:40:14 AM
I haven't used them but I seem to recall them having a higher failure rate. Also there was something weird with their firmware, they were actually banned on Kano.is pool. I can't even remember what versions of miners we've actually seen released. If you check The Current Competitive Hardware thread you can follow their links or look into other equipment, that is more efficient and powerful.

This is probably the best thread for you to read through and post to get some information.
2071  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BTC FPPS][EN/UA/RU] UKRPOOL.COM on: March 28, 2019, 08:12:39 AM
can you please implement you website in English for some reason i see Russian.

When I checked I had the option to change the site to English. You have to click on the flag in the top right corner, it drops down a couple of options with English being one of them.
2072  Other / Meta / Re: Reporting Member sandy_is_fine FOR Spamming (Please Ban Her Moderator) on: March 28, 2019, 07:35:10 AM
Good job reporting my last message because you're afraid of the truth so your trying to hide it so no one sees it.

So going back to your original complaint. This is really simple, because you've seen it in action. If you think they are spamming the forum, use the report to moderator button on any post you believe breaks that rule.

That is honestly the only way you are getting a Mod to review or even consider your claims, then when you receive a Bad Report or Unhandled see how it was handled in your stats you will have your answer on what the Mods think.

If it's the feedback you are concerned about as has been said you can only hope for any outcome in the reputation section. If the community agrees they will deal with it using trust exclusions.

First of all, thanks to everyone who has "supported" me in this thread.  To everyone following this thread and this obvious first post guy who definitely has an agenda:   Just for the record, the only people I tag (with maybe an exception due to an edited or moved thread or a deleted or moved message) are those who sell in Digital Goods, usually selling gift cards for 80-90% off or offering $1000 in BTC for $100 in cash or that sort of thing always in locked threads always selling through Telegram, Skype or anywhere other than here or those who are obvious alts of other scammers by using same Skype, same Telegram or whatever or some other 99% accurate indicator.  NONE of these folks have ever attempted to contact me explaining that their 90% discount gift cards are legit and to remove my tag.  Most of them never post again then come back with another alt.

Sounds like you are doing a fine job, especially if they aren't trying to dispute it all. It's just easier to try under a different account.

2073  Economy / Speculation / Re: *Q2-BTC-PRCE PREDICTION-GAME* Q2 LIST GAME on: March 28, 2019, 07:22:48 AM
~snip~
Thanks for being a good dude, I'll slide into the 5885.
~snip~

Well I did no good last time, unless it's a late finish.  I was going to come in at the same number, but with things still fairly sideways I'll be a smidgin more conservative.

So the winner on June, 30 will be 5725$  Grin we'll just my guess/hope.

Honestly I just think we are due for a nice little run up in price. The news out there isn't to bad recently, if you can neglect the negligence of Quadriga, the little mini Mt. Gox wannabe. On the mining front there is actual bigtime improvements in gear launching in multiple batches. People are going to start moving coins especially around release dates for purchases, ideally this can help stimulate the market a little and give us some price growth.

Appreciate the extra "good guy" move in pointing out I posted in the wrong thread.  Grin
2074  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BTC FPPS][EN/UA/RU] UKRPOOL.COM on: March 28, 2019, 03:08:36 AM
Unique firmware from OKCARE 2.0
  • Overclocking your miners, by increasing the hashrate.
  • Device monitoring system.
  • Reduces power consumption.

Can you elaborate on this a little. I'm unaware of a way to boost a miners hashrate or reduce power;  simply by having it point to a particular pool.

Are you asking people to download firmware specific to their miners to achieve this before pointing to your pool?

No fees are nice for building a pool, does this include withdrawals? I mean to say does the pool pay the TX fee when sending out payments to the miners.
2075  Other / Meta / Re: Community Opinion - Signature Campaigns on: March 28, 2019, 02:39:54 AM
My vote is go for it. You are simply providing a service to find and monitor participants to wear their signature. Some people may be offended or think it's out of place, they can disable signature ads and move on. It's a product/service that is legal and free to people in most parts of the world if I'm not mistaken so it's not really out of place.

As for past examples the best I can think of was this campaign Eroiy.io. It wasn't a site per say, but a coin dedicated to anonymous payments for Porn sites.

If anything would come up that they've been doing some shenanigans later on, could I get in trouble for marketing it here? Should I consider it in any way immoral to promote pornographic content here?

To answer these questions, I can only speak for myself and how I'd deal with it here on the forum. If they start doing Shady shit ( underage or non consensual videos, or theft) I would judge you only by how you handle things after you find out or it's brought to your attention. I have no doubt you would act appropriately in those cases so I don't have any worries there. The immoral question comes down to your own personal values, personally if they're here they have access to the internet and have been shown the way already.

I also can't see the forum having an issue, we've allowed at the very least cam girl promotions to be an ongoing thing. They likely still would be if not for a scammer being outed.
2076  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ebang EBIT E11++ 44TH 45W/TH on: March 28, 2019, 01:29:26 AM
McGordy.

No one knows if these units ever shipped to anyone or if there will actually be a delivery on them. I would be checking with Ebang before anything, if for no other reason than to confirm you would have warranty for that gear if purchased through a reseller. Next how did you find these resellers you checked with? if you've never done business with them I would hold off and do more research on them before sending cash. During the last run there were "reseller" popping up every day looking super legit, ripping people off.

Mikeywith makes a great point about the price you were quoted as well. You would be much better off buying any of the current gear out there, even with the pre-order wait times. Check out this list for some gear you might want to take a look at.

2077  Economy / Collectibles / Re: ZEPHER Coins (Free) | In Loving Memory on: March 27, 2019, 12:08:24 AM
Put me down near the end of the list. I never met/knew Zepher so I'd hate to take the place of a friend.

If I do get my hands on one I'll spread the love through the prairies.

Amazing way to honour the memory.
2078  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which one is better at the moment? Cloud mining investment or hardware purchase? on: March 26, 2019, 02:37:56 PM
Unfortunately no one can predict the future... man would things be different. Wink

We can however reasonably assume that Diff is going to increase because of the more efficient hardware with large hashrates. Phil has a nice discussion thread about the difficulty speculation. Personally just based on the hardware upgrades, I would expect Diff to increase a minimum of 25% by the end of the year. That's just on people upgrading with improved efficiency.

More hashrate fitting into the same power footprint.

For the hardware part there is at least one other option that is competitive with price and efficiency, MicroBT. I keep this list fairly up to date so you can see if there is any gear that fits heir needs.

Personally I will never suggest cloud mining. The returns are minimal unless being propped up with some introductory bonus. All terms and conditions are set in favor of the service provider, in that they can cancel contracts if it is unprofitable for a certain amount of time. You have no choice in the matter.

In the end I guess it would come down to does your friend want to be a miner, or are they just interested in accumulating BTC. If his electricity costs are truly free to him, with no implications of eviction. Your friend should buy older generation equipment for a fraction of the cost, just to get their feet wet and then decide if they want to go with newer models or expand a few older models. They could pick up cheap 9 or 8 series Avalons, or they could grab some S9's.
2079  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Want BTC for Paypal or Transfer [CAD] 1:1 on: March 26, 2019, 02:18:53 PM
Thanks, I did consider that but I believe they tend to deal in USD as do most people.

Ideally I want to find someone who wants to deal in CAD. I do have a potential off forum option, i just like to check here to build up the network.
2080  Economy / Currency exchange / BTC for Email Money Transfer [CAD] [closed for now] on: March 26, 2019, 02:04:28 PM
Looking to buy some hardware, in the next day or so.
I need approximately .11 BTC depending on price at the time.

Ideally I can find someone to deal in Canadian Dollars. I can send PP as FF; or an Email money transfer.

1:1 Preev rate
