761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will Bitcoin do to Bank what email did to the post office? on: August 13, 2023, 05:26:29 PM
Bitcoin is changing the payment system in the world right now. Payments made in Bitcoin are always fast to receive and do not days to receive.

Nope- I do not think that BTC would be able to make obsolete fiat just simply because of its nature.

Remember that when the e-mail was invested, it was also the birth of the internet. People were lost and discovering the limitless potential of maximizing the use of internet until they have tried e-mail and realized that it was more efficient and faster to use it compared to the conventional mail via post office.

In bitcoin, I really do wonder on why people think that it will remove/replace fiat. Again, they can both co-exist with each other while exercising their nature. Bitcoin can be used together with fiat even if people think that their purpose is like oil plus water.
762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wagering - share your opinion on: August 13, 2023, 02:41:03 PM
I don't have anything against wagering and the tier system some casinos use as incentive.
Though, I must say that one needs to ignore the bonuses and benefits offered by the casino for those high tiers and leave the total wager to accumulate naturally, eventually the tier will come by its own.

For example, one can wager on Stake, rolling dices and reach the copper tier before one even noticed. Of course, it depends on ones money availability, but it is fairly easy, imo.

As long as one is being responsible with money, there is nothing wrong with enjoying tiers

This is actually the right mindset- if a person wagers purely in expectancy of achieving bonuses, then most likely the whole experience may be a drag and costly at the same time. But if you leave it as it is and continue to gamble, then you would definitely notice that your account would reach the next tier of rewards/bonuses in the whole process.

I think this kind of perspective is mainly for the people who really like to take advantage of the bonuses/rewards being offered at a casino. If this is what you want to focus, then there are better ways for you to earn and receive such bonuses in different categories without undergoing this hassle.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin best option to invest on: August 12, 2023, 09:51:29 PM
Theirs so many investment to invest but many people are seeing bitcoin as the highest place to invest their money but I'm not seeing bitcoin as highest investing plan ever, I don't know people have not invested in bitcoin is thinking of bitcoin as investment you can make millions dollars when you started, I'm preaching to change our people mindset of bitcoin investment so that they will not hope that bitcoin investment make somebody to be rich the way they think of it.

I think you are gravely mistaken- investing in BTC for either short/long-term can yield excellent results given that you know what you are doing.

Again. let me just reiterate- investment is an activity where you have extra resources to be allocated in this venture for long-term results. The reason on why people invest in the first place is for their extra money to grow instead of just sitting at their safe doing nothing.

As this may be the case, investment is "an another activity" in conjunction with your main source of income. Sure, there may be people who have multiple investment instruments running that can support their livelihood but you must not use this solely as your main source of income.

Is there a possibility to fix Neutral Trust?

I don't know if using ChatGPT or something like that can affect my account, for example getting Neutral Trust.

For everyone who is reading this post, this should serve as a reminder to the reason on why we have forum rules placed in the first place. Rules are posted, even if you do not actually read them, for them to be followed. It serves as a constructive notice to all that once you violate any of those stipulated provisions, you are to be punished accordingly.

Quote
kinship and brotherhood in this forum. From that I want to ask for the opinion and help of all my friends,
Please give me advice or a way to improve the Neutral Trust that I'm experiencing, Thank you all friends.

I do not think there is a way for you to remove them UNLESS you personally message the people who added them in the first place. Though in some cases, people remove them but in your case I doubt that you would be able to.

In fact, you just worsen your situation by acknowledging your mistake to others in which people would ultimately put more neutral trust to your account.
765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Collective bets in local lotteries on: August 12, 2023, 09:14:36 PM
Would like to know your takes on betting as a group to raise chances in local
Lotteries

I know that mathematically the chances are still really low even if you multiply it 100x but in Brazil at least we’ve seen some local lottery prizes given for small groups of 20 or 30 people betting betting with 5000x tickets let’s say

If dreaming alone is cool dreaming in groups can be even better

Hmm this is actually interesting- imagine if people were to purchase lottery tickets but the statistics show that the chances are still low. Well maybe if you can convince a group of people to spend such amount on betting lottery tickets, I guess there is that chance of winning but it may still be relatively low given the astronomically low chance of winning the lottery altogether.

I guess some may have tried this in the past and but they just considered that it is not worth it. Maybe statistically, they could have spent more than what they would have earned in the process if this were the case.
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: August 12, 2023, 05:05:11 PM
If you are onto gambling for the first time it's not possible to get addicted to gambling because you haven't tasted what winning feels like, you will be consumed by doubts and uncertainty.

But wait till you have a taste, win some money, that's where you start feeling like there is more if you keep digging, is this not where gambling addiction starts?

We have had a lot of conversations about gambling addiction, but I had the same conversation with someone close yesterday and this was my answer to him.

Do you think its possible to become addicted to gambling when you haven't win a dime or after you win?

I think addiction starts after you win, even if it's just once, that's when you start gambling recklessly and you also start betting higher.

I do think that addiction manifests to people differently due to the reason on why they are getting addicted in the first place.

Some people may feel addicted due to the adrenaline of betting huge amounts of money per round; while others get addicted due to the fact that they are clinging to that hope of winning a jackpot whenever they gamble. At the end of the day, they gamble because they truly want to experience something that is otherworldly- something that can only be found while gambling.

Personally, I find the adrenaline to be the main reason on why most get addicted. That surge of emotions that you feel whenever you are holding on to that hope of winning, only to discover that you won/loss. I guess that feeling of slight ecstasy is what makes gambling addictive.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling scenario that keeps repeating on you on: August 12, 2023, 03:49:59 PM
I can relate to what you are saying; none of the strategies or scenarios work out in the end. The house is always smarter than you can imagine. On various occasions, I have tried multiple strategies, like taking a half-minute break after every minute. Initially, it seemed profitable, but after some time, I started losing my profits and ended up with nothing.

Some days may be profitable, but most days you ultimately end up with nothing. No matter what strategy you employ to defeat it, the house always wins.

I do think that house edges are higher than most people think. The fact that the house edge may yield only a relative small amount of increase to their advantage is definitely winning if you consider on the amount of people who play on a daily basis.

For example, even if the house edge is <1%, statistics would prove that the house would always win no matter what happens. That slight advantage could also mean that they will be profitable as long as the statistics and numbers work.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has nothing to do with crime on: August 11, 2023, 09:29:08 PM
Bitcoin isn't inherently a privacy coin; rather, it stands as a genuinely decentralized cryptocurrency. Your level of privacy is determined by the measures you take to safeguard it, given that Bitcoin transactions are publicly accessible. If I possess your specific Bitcoin address, I can still trace your activities. Bitcoin's objective is to establish a decentralized payment system, eliminating the need for third-party intermediaries.

I do think that when most people have understood on how to utilize BTC, they somehow used it as a currency under the dark web in which it gained its popularity negatively. Sure, BTC may have the aspects of decentralization and its other effects may provide anonymity but its effects are more than that.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with crime
The decentralized nature of the technology is making people use it for criminal activities. Since the coin is decentralized, nobody knows and control your funds. No currency support crime but it is the criminals use them to commit their crime. Bitcoin came and see crime so nothing can be done to bypass that angle of the bitcoin activities. Crime is not written on the forehead of the criminals so they use it to execute there plans and transfer their money from the victims account to there wallet.

During that time, people were unaware of its true potential when you can definitely utilize it in a more efficient way. It just so happened that they were able to take advantage of one aspect in which it became the focal point of media. I just find it very unfortunate that media capitalized on this idea, thus increasing the stigma that BTC had been used for criminal activities.
769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Came back from long haitus on: August 11, 2023, 04:50:13 PM
I came back here on Bitcointalk from a very long hiatus due to personal reasons. I wanted to start offering again my services such as participating in signature campaigns but I don't know where to start. Can some tell me what are the current qualifications to join some campaign and how/where to get them? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Well for starters, visit the service board and check if there is an ongoing signature campaign that has open slots designated to your rank.

As far as I know, majority of the campaign signatures require that you must have at least ten (10) earned merits in the last 120 days. In addition, your account must also have some active posts and comments given the competitiveness of earning that rightful spot in that signature campaign.

For the better understanding, put yourself in the shoes of the campaign manager. What would you require your participants before you accept them into the campaign? After answering that question, apply it to your situation and reflect.
770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do 90% of Bettors Lose in Sports Betting in the Long-term? on: August 11, 2023, 04:34:58 PM
First and foremost, gambling is always depend on luck.

Gambling is definitely a game of luck. But here we are talking about sports betting. Sports betting can be considered as both game of luck and skill. As in sports betting you need to analyse the sports event, do calculations and then only bet in it. So if a bettor is losing, then it only proves that he doesn’t have required knowledge on that particular sport. To be honest, now for a few days I haven’t seen many gamblers losing money on sports betting, yes they bet on odds with less returns, but never seen losing more than winning.

I definitely agree with your statement.

At some point, the curve will definitely be in favour of the gambling platform given that there is no absolute result when it comes to gambling. It is either you win or you lose; the more you engage yourself in a very risky environment, the more you put your resources at risk.

This explains on why majority of the gamblers who continuously gamble (despite them winning a large sum of money) lose their resources at the end. If you truly want to maximize your winnings, better that you invest the money you have won.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS) In Gambling on: August 11, 2023, 04:04:15 PM
There is this article where a past lottery winner in the Philippines was able to win $2,000,000 dollars (which is a life-changing amount in this country) but he unfortunately exhausted everything.

In winning the lottery, it is definitely essential that the winner must manage their finances. Sure, that surge of emotions where you feel like purchasing everything that you were not able to afford before may tempt you but this should not blind your decision-making when it comes to finances.

772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Peer pressure as a substantial gambling catalyst. on: August 10, 2023, 09:33:10 PM
~
Well my peers definitely had an influence in my first time gambling. It was a group of sorts when I was in higschool, they brought poker cards and initially, it was only for fun, but then money got involved. I wasn't supposed to be joining in really, but then pressure and curiosity got the best of me. That time didn't really last long but it did stick to me, to the point where I myself tried it out on my own at my later college years.

Definitely not something life inspiring (but really just lucky), but my peers just by bringing poker cards and adding in money was more than enough.

The funny thing is, what started my first gambling experience was no other than my dad himself!

I told this story in another thread but when I was a kid, my dad was notoriously active in cock fighting. He would participate in tournaments and arenas; and our family even had a farm in the province designated for raising fighting chickens.

So there was one night where our dad (probably I was around 12-13 years old) invited us to join his fight and witness on how chickens fight live. When the game was about to start, I betted on a specific chicken but my dad insisted on betting to the other one. I lost all of my money while my brother, who started with $10, came home with $100.

This is my first gambling experience and it really left me a mark on how unlucky I am. In the recent years, I tried gambling via different gambling websites on games (csgo skins) and I kept on losing and losing. I guess gambling is not really suited for me long term!
773  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 10, 2023, 04:48:00 PM
....
Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.

I do not think that we can properly conclude that if a person hides their gambling activities, it automatically equates that they are ashamed of what they are doing.

There are several factors that you must consider, such as:

  • Legality of gambling in their country;
  • Intentionally hiding it to prevent any influence from their peers; or
  • They are afraid of getting caught and being apprehended by it

On the above-mentioned list, there are three (3) factors that I think that can affect on why a gambler may try to hide his/her gambling activities.

Obviously, if a country prohibits such act, then it is natural for them to keep it a secret. On the other hand, a gambler might hide their acts in order to prevent influencing any of their family members from getting addicted. Lastly, they may also keep it a secret since they do not want to get caught by their family members and he/she may get apprehended or penalized.

775  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Passive income with crypto on: August 07, 2023, 05:43:16 PM
Hey guys! I've been in crypto for a while but since it's bear market I'm curious: are there any services where you can earn passive income in crypto, except lending?
If you know, share your experience, please.

There are indeed some services where you can passive income in cryptocurrency, such as:

  • Mining;
  • Staking;
  • Signature Campaigns;
  • Gambling; or
  • Investment

As its name suggests, passive income is a type of activity where you can generate revenue on investments alone. This implies that you can earn revenue by not doing the traditional employee-employer relationship found in most corporations. On the list above, you can observe that there are six (6) examples that I provided, in which each category has their respective pros and cons.

Personally, I would definitely suggest investment and participating in campaign signatures as the best possible way to earn passive income. The other four (4) are just too risky for me to bear with especially considering that some require existing rigs, knowledge, and expertise in order to operate (mining).
776  Economy / Economics / Re: How Long in Years Should I Wait Before I Close Down an Unprofitable Business on: August 07, 2023, 05:06:41 PM
No, I cannot wait for 3 years to finally decide to close a losing business. That's just way too long for me. Although I haven't had a business with a capital of over $20k. A few years ago, I tried to open a business with that amount as its capital, after a few months of processing the papers and attending meetings where sometimes politics are involved in a local place, I gave up before it even started.

So maybe a big capital like those rich people are starting, they just cannot simply give it up and lose all the investment. But for smaller businesses, 3 years is just way too long to suffer and the capital loss is a bit tolerable.

As a general rule, one (1) year gives you a broad idea on how your business is working on the market. Depending on the type of business you have started, that amount time gives you at least a rough estimate on how you have proven yourself to the market and on how your customers are loyal.

In the food industry, there are certain cycles where a business can be profitable in the long-run. In the first four (4) months of business, your customers must know your product and they at least must have decided that distinguishing factor you have compared to other businesses. In the next eight (Cool months, this will determine if you have a loyal customers who have repeat orders.

To conclude, a business must be thoroughly planned out before you decide whether you want to continue or to close. While others may have a relatively longer of time on its forecast, one (1) year is the typical time in order to decide whether it can be profitable or not.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin really not for everyone? on: August 07, 2023, 03:40:47 PM
Like its current status around the world, BTC should not be forced to someone who is not interested with it at all. This also applies to people, despite knowing its potential and opportunities, who really avoids transacting in BTC in the market.

There was a thread which discussed the possibilities of explaining the fundamentals of BTC to a stranger or even a kid. While it may be noble to let anyone understand BTC, it is really not for everyone and you cannot just shove it directly to others and expect them to actually have interest on it.

To conclude, just like any possible investment or idea, nothing is permanent. Meaning, no idea is perfect; there will always be a group of people who hate or just refuse to use BTC despite knowing its positive effects.
778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Slot Streamers on: August 07, 2023, 01:42:39 PM
While these streamers may earn a good amount of money through streaming, they sometimes may become inspirational to the gamblers which may lead the normal gamblers to gamble more or become addicted too in some cases.

Thoughts Huh

Well, personally, I do not watch any streamers that currently stream their gambling venture but it is not that bad to see it from their perspective.

I have this bias towards most streamers that when they are streaming their gambling ventures, such company is paying them to advertise it, thus altering the rates to their advantage. I have this experience where a YouTuber was streaming opening CSGO crates and I was actually influenced by it when he won around $1,000 by betting only around $20. Unfortunately, I lost my $50 bet and I had this bias towards anyone who streams on a designated gambling website.

Though my experience may be considered as an isolated case, it is still relatively better for everyone to watch these streams so they get to view the realities of gambling; HOPEFULLY by someone who is not sponsored by these companies to show the actual rates.
779  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why don't land-based casinos have an online version? on: August 07, 2023, 09:48:40 AM
I wonder why real or land based casinos are not offering a virtual or online version of their casino ( I never seen one yet). If they can afford to open a physical casino it seems easy for them to invest in a virtual one as well, possibly combining both to create an experience similar to what Evolution Gaming offers.
And if you are asking why i thought about this it’s simply because by doing it they can expand their business to reach and provide a more reliable and trustworthy platform for gamblers. Just recently we have seen unfortunate cases where online casinos have scammed users and disappeared with their deposits, often due to unknown teams and creators behind these platforms

This is an interesting perspective- you are indeed correct. Most of the physical-based casinos have yet to open or start their respective online counterparts. I am also wondering on why they are not capitalizing on this opportunity given that they have established themselves in the community as a legit business.

Maybe one of the reasons on why they are avoiding creating an online gambling platform is because they want to persuade and convince their users to personally visit their physical casino? Maybe the proceeds of a person visiting their physical casino is greater than what they have forecasted in the event that they create an online platform?

To be honest, they are somehow missing international customers from accessing their online gambling platform which can greatly increase their overall revenue.
780  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: August 06, 2023, 04:33:48 PM
When BTC reached $69000. I didn't choose to sell it. but the current price of Bitcoin dropped to less than $30000. Is it the most reasonable choice to sell BTC now and turn your attention to other investments? I hope to get some good suggestions. Although I have held BTC for many years. I am not good at management.

Have a designated plan- divide your BTCs int two (2) parts where you can focus both on short or long-term investments.

Personally, I would recommend that you allocate your BTCs depending on your goal. For example, if you allocated a part for short-term gains, then sell 50% of your BTCs once you have accumulated profit. For the remaining 50%, you should allocate it for long-term investments where you would sell them at a price where you are comfortable with.

With the fork coming this 2024, I personally recommend that you HODL majority of your BTCs until such time given that every fork increases the price of BTC in the market.
