Hmm, just figured out what was wrong and finally generated a nmc wallet address.

Will I get the nmc from the already generated blocks, or only those ones from now on?

While rewards for old blocks are processing, I added firstbits support for Bitcoin wallet on profile. Now you can enter only first bits of your address and pool it automatically translates to full address.

You can read more about neat firstbits idea on http://www.firstbits.com

I don't really understand the purpose of firstbits.  The website isn't that helpful.  To my understanding it is taking my long address and converting it to something shorter.  This in turn will make it quicker to get confirmations for my address.
Is that right? or am I completely off?   Huh

Just curious, if I entered nmc address the day you first made announcement that we should enter nmc address, would I get payments for all mining time spend since the beginning of mergemining ? Or did you only payout nmc generated from the date nmc wallet entry was announced?

I think firstbits is similar to tinyurl, bit.ly, etc. for bitcoin addresses. Using firstbits won't make it quicker to get confirmations for your address.

If you claimed your NMC address before 17.10.2011 @ (around) 6pm UTC, you'll receive all coins you deserve (since MM started), which you obviously did. All people who filled nmc address later are earning namecoins since today.

No.  Firstbits makes it easier for you to memorize an address by translating it to something very short instead of something long.  Nothing more.

I've had NMC showing confirmed for over 5 hours now. These were all ones mined 3-4 days ago and are well over the send threshold.

Are the payouts still being worked on?

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Wish I knew my average per block XD, Figured I'd get more than 10 namecoins out of the 100k but I guess everyone else who is mining a lot already put in addresses.

Aye, mine seemed awfully low for the several hundred blocks I mined on. I highly suspect the unassigned NMC addy amounts have not been distributed, yet, hopefully...

You see some problems with confirmed reward? Too low? Now the confirmed reward is completely calculated, so tell me NOW if you see anything wrong.

SAC: Sorry, I don't understand the question. There are not "unassigned NMC". It works in way that mined namecoins are distributed only between pool users with namecoin wallet on profile (and I'm taking 2% as usual).

And yes, all mined coins are 'assigned' to anybody. The question is if they're assigned in right way Wink. But I tracked rewarding for few users and it looks fine so far. So I'm preparing to push red button now...

It seems kinda hard to determine if it's correct because the nmc payouts are shown on the bitcoin statistics page.  So I can't tell how much I get per found nmc block.

I notice that for a bitcoin block that was 53 minutes (8443) my namecoin payout was less than one.  And other similar btc blocks I get over 2 nmc.

Does the nmc payout coincide with the amount of nmc blocks found during the same time period as the btc block?  Or does that column just belong on the nmc statistics page.  Which would mean that each nmc payout listed coincides with a single nmc block?

Slush,

Same question I gave to tycho...

If there's were a new mechanism programmed into address generation for BTC that created an encrypted hash and key file pair for the client which would be required in order to SEND bitcoins, would you be behind it?

I am of the opinion that if people felt a bit more secure about the safety of their funds, BTC would see wider adoption.

I feel that it would make a significant difference in how seriously the currency is taken.  It seems like it would be relatively secure and easy to implement and people would just have to take their keychain and put it somewhere safe and only take it out when they needed to send BTC.  As opposed to a wallet which has to remain resident somewhere to be collecting inbound currency and verifying it, the keychain could go anywhere and never come out unless a transaction needed to be processed.

Pool is currently bitcoin-block centric, because I didn't expect more parallel blockchains year ago, so I solved this in the following way: Once bitcoin block is found, I take all namecoin blocks mined during this time and spread them between namecoin users using their score. So basically it is "user_score / score_of_all_namecoin_users * nmc_blocks_cnt * 50". And this is handled as additional block reward to *bitcoin* block, which is the reason why is NMC reward displayed on Bitcoin block stats. With current low namecoin difficulty I see this mechanism as pretty fair, but I'm preparing to rewrite pool for full support of parallel blockchains, with separate scoring etc, so this should be considered as a "quick and temporary solution".

Slush,

Did my question make sense?

Well, I didn't read it carefully yet as I'm trying to finish payouts now (and there is 5.30 am already). But I'll focus on it later, right?
