1821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 01, 2023, 01:33:23 PM
The general rule of investing is still to diversify. Gold and precious pieces of jewelry are also good investments. But considering how bitcoin price performs over the years especially during and after the halving year, it is also very tempting to go all in. Since last year I've been contemplating of selling my house so I can invest maybe half of the proceeds in bitcoin. $100k is very possible for bitcoin. I would rather stick to that target if you're investing an amount that you cannot afford to lose. x10 is also possible but we never know, that needs a lot of money to inject. Good luck OP. And if your wife becomes impatient, you can cash out a portion that amounts to your capital and keep HODL'ng the profit until it reaches $100k minimum.

Congratulations. That was an unbelievable feat. Just this week I tried doing multi bets although I included some matches and sports that I already didn't watch closely. After losing some tickets, I gave up. But after reading this inspiring story, I am thinking of doing it again. And just like everyone else, I am curious if you will share your next multi-bets. I'll give it a try and see if I can get some of your luck. Grin
1823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 01, 2023, 12:24:58 PM
After many months, the betting favorite Boston Celtics is finally overtaken by the Milwaukee Bucks as the NBA's leading team. I thought Denver would do it but then Milwaukee is now on a 15-game win streak and most likely it will continue to about 20.

Meanwhile, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers joined by stars Kyrie Irving and Russel Westbrook seemed struggling to win or to seal close games. And the Pelicans continued to lose games. I thought they are still okay inside the top 6 even without Zion but CJ after they acquired CJ McCollum. Now they might not even enter the playoffs.

Nicolas Ponce has more fights than Matias but the quality of their opponents is clearly in favor of the latter. Matias has been fighting good-quality of opponents even before he reached his 10th fight. This might become a huge factor and besides, Matias is already used to fighting big crowds in the US while this is Ponce's US debut. Still hoping for an upset just like his countryman Maidana did in his US debut.

And though Jeremias Ponce doesn't have any losses Subriel Matias just got the wits while Ponce got the aggression and it was imminent in the 1st round well, even though this is Ponce's debut to fight in the US he was not shy at all and was very aggressive and got some volume shots to Subriel Matias, but on the 2nd round Subriel Matias is retaliating now maybe he was hurting with Ponce's punch but I really doubt it but surely Matias just got the chin and durability from the beating, it was a very close fight it was literally close they are close to one another it was the determination to stand-up that is why this fight is really good, and on the 5th round you can see that Ponce having a difficulty to stand up because of the beating he received, and even if he stood up he can not raise his hands Subriel Matias is really one tough dude,

I was really surprised when Ponce right away attacked his 100% KO win rate opponent. I like it but I thought Ponce is also ready for a 12-round war which is why he spent big energy right away in round 1. I also thought Matias will be down later from the pressure of Ponce, but it seems the huge experience of fighting high-level opponents made him survive and remained composed. I felt like Ponce is still willing to fight but his corner are scared after Matias started to change the fight into his momentum. And the fact that someone very good and undefeated before was already dead after absorbing a lot of heavy blows from Matias made Ponce's corner more concerned.

Matias 19-1-19, now the new IBF champion has a scary message to WBC champion Regis Prograis.
Quote
“I have a message and I want you all to just spread it far and wide,” Matias said. “Prograis, I’m coming for you. I’m the world champ now. And I promise you, I’m gonna send you to the hospital. So, get ready.”

But Regis Prograis 28-1-24 is a KO artist himself and the more proven fighter of the 2. Hopefully, a unification is going to happen this year right away. No more unnecessary title defenses since we want the best to fight the best. 2 KO champions, both KO artists and are in a bad blood already, it's going to be a war.
1825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: March 01, 2023, 10:54:07 AM
I'm sure that Mark Magsayo and his camp learned something about his last encounter with Vargas, whether if it's stamina or endurance to finish the whole 12 rounds without giving any huge signs of exhaustion. It's impossible to think that Magsayo haven't improved even for just a little bit after that fight as Vargas gave him a nightmare after that and I believe that became his driving force to thrive even more to be a champion once again in the future. Now, if he will still fail against Figueroa, then maybe he's just another Philippine boxer that will come and go.

Not just the stamina but Magsayo's camp surely also work out how to counter against a tall boxer with a long reach compare to him. Vargas is almost just the same as Figueroa in terms of height and also has long arms. They sure prepared on that as Magsayo also has a goal of becoming a world title holder again.

I agree with that even with such intense training and preparation, but still, losing to Figueroa, it would be clear that Magsayo's dominance before and clean record can't handle the competition in the top rankings at the Featherweight. But not thinking that way as I believed, Magsayo will have to chance to be the interim champion and faces Vargas next for the WBC Featherweight Title.

Maybe there are things that cannot be changed in months and even a year. Magsayo's stamina has been an issue long before and yet it remains an issue. The good thing here is Magsayo in spite of fighting a taller fighter with more reach does not need to chase since Figueroa is a brawler. Figueroa is probably not going to run as seen from his previous fights so he will be hittable by Magsayo's power punches. The problem though is when Figueroa won't get hurt by Magsayo's big punches. And once Figueroa becomes confident, I have doubts about Magsayo's ability to fight in a brawl. Magsayo's lack of stamina and the body punches from Figueroa might bring an end to this fight. So I am rooting for Magsayo's big punches to hurt and stop Figueroa in the first half of the fight.
1826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [DOTA 2] The Lima Major - Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 28, 2023, 02:22:47 PM
After losing 2 parlays I am back to the usual single bets. I am cheering for Shopify Rebellion but I am not too confident betting against Team Spirit. Meanwhile, I am betting on Gaimin Gladiators, Entity, and Team Liquid. These teams will have better chances of proceeding into the upper bracket semifinals.

Today will be full of great games as each team will give it all since dropping into the lower bracket is not a guarantee of a comeback. Definitely not an easy road when PSG.LGD, beastcoast, and Tundra are the ones waiting in the lower bracket.
1827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 28, 2023, 01:56:46 PM
I think Jon Jones gets the submission win but I keep doubting him because he has not been active for many years. If Gane can use his take down defense and keep the fight standing I think he beats Jon Jones by points. The hard part of the fight is knowing what condition and skills Jon Jones has because the last fight was too long ago. I do not like the odds for Jon Jones to win 1.60 knowing that he has been out for many years.

It's tempting to bet on Ciryl Gane. I'm just following updates and will wait for the weigh-in. But I will look forward to betting on Gane. Jon Jones is too inactive. This is his longest period of inactivity which is 3 years without a fight in the octagon. So no tune-up. And even if someone is always in the gym, it is still different when someone is training for a real fight. This is also Jones' first fight as a heavyweight. This might be the perfect time for Jones to have his first real defeat.
1828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: February 28, 2023, 01:23:23 PM
There is no such thing as 100% even if you're able to talk to all its team players and coaching staff. But okay, assuming someone like an angel or an extraordinary being as we've seen in the movies appears to me, I'll probably bet a few million or something that my betting site can cater to. I am a multi-millionaire anyways, so why bother killing myself on how to quickly bet all my millions in a game that is to start in hours? And who knows that extraordinary being is just testing my greed or whatever. The fact that I am a millionaire means I am successful in handling my money and I will never get swayed by unreliable promises and something very uncommon. And if I win, why should I worry about funds being frozen when I can present my legit sources of income? Unless my fortune came from illegalities, I'll probably diversify my bets to as many different sportsbooks.

You have very weird imaginations mate. I wonder if you have an insider on the groups of underground fixers which exist secretly. But of course, there's still no 100% guarantee.
1829  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: February 28, 2023, 01:02:04 PM
I am not even a big fan of Changpeng Zhao but there are too many companies and people in the media industry that are one-sided, influenced, opportunists, and bribed. Sam Bankman-Fried and his family are very influential and indebted to a lot of companies, wealthy people, and politicians. No wonder he is now imprisoned in a family mansion with a swimming pool. CZ sunk FTX but there was a valid reason behind its withdrawals and it also has the right to do so. I don't think Binance will follow FTX's route. Not this time.
1830  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: February 28, 2023, 12:42:22 PM
This is a great reminder not just for me but for everybody. Since the pandemic I lost nearly all my sources of income and starting last year, I've been on a very stiff budget. I do not want to miss the next crypto bull run which I expect to happen next year onwards. I felt like I do not have much life nowadays and most of the time I stayed at home alone. Not that I am sad because I am still feeling good but maybe this is not healthy for me as I am losing socialization, travel, and taking care of myself.

About money expenditures. We also need to enjoy and reward ourselves for our hard work. So I am not really against luxurious kinds of stuff as long as it represents a very tiny portion of your regular income.
1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 28, 2023, 12:20:40 PM
They've been doing good and it's really nice to see them winning against a strong team like the Mavs despite their struggles in the first half, they managed to fix it and ended up winning the game. I really hope to see more of these kinds of play by the Lakers and since Westbrook is out, they have been winning much more than they have him on the team. Now they really need to work harder and better to take care of their physical health because they are a few games away to steal that number 10 spot which might be their ticket to convert it for a playoff spot.
Yes this is true! I believe, LeBron + AD, one completes the other!

They have already won 3 games in a row.
Let's see if he can maintain this performance, tomorrow the Lakers will play against the Grizzlies, it's a strong team, although the Lakers, incredible as it seems, can manage to beat the Grizzlies, but for that to happen, the best players need to be on fire .

I hope the Lakers can reach the playoffs in this season, I even imagine, the Lakers can perform better in the playoffs compared to the regular season.

Most likely that the Lakers will become stronger and perform better in the playoffs as their chemistry and experience as a team will be further developed.

This is a very interesting game for the Lakers. Memphis Grizzlies is going to be their toughest team to face so far since their final reconstruction before the trade deadline. This is like an even game but I still slightly favor the home team knowing how very good Memphis is when playing in their court. The Lakers may be 3-0 in their last but Memphis in its last game was able to beat the top team in the west and is 4-0 in its previous games at home.
1832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 27, 2023, 02:55:19 PM
But I must say, Santiago is never an easy boxer, with all his winning streaks last year, his vigor and fierce in boxing is incomparable.

No offense but those boxers that Alejandro Santiago beats last year can't really be labeled on the same tier as Nonitod Donaire Jr. I can't consider that as him being fierce although those wins are really impressive based on the scores he got on those UD wins and the last win he made where he makes his opponent unable to continue the fight. Aside from that, Donaire doesn't need to improve anything but will just go with his usual fighting style. Instead, Santiago should be the one to think of a strategy for how to deal with Donaire.

Santiago is also lacking advantages in terms of physical characteristics. Specifically referring to height and reach advantage, Donaire already owned him. It's always an advantage for a boxer to have a big gap in terms of height and reach especially in the Bantamweight division.

Santiago could benefit himself by being shorter in height and reach if only he is a heavy-handed brawler. Especially, this slower version of Donaire. Donaire isn't known as a defensive fighter either and being tall means you are also prone to body attacks. And Donaire does not like to brawl as he wants space in order to launch his attacks. We will see if Donaire would be able to land his heavy punches on Santiago. Santiago's 3 losses were all decisions although Donaire's power in this division might be too much for everyone. So far there are only 2 greats that were able to survive Donaire's heavy punches in this division, Naoya Inoue twice and former 2 division champion Omar Narvaez.
1833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 27, 2023, 02:32:33 PM
I guess the answer is that he is more powerful at 122 lbs than 118 lbs in my opinion.

This could be his natural weight for all we know, again no need to diet and not to eat calories because of the weight limit. Now he can eat everything he want without bothering himself and watching what food to eat and what's not.

As for every boxer, as they meet the required weight at the weigh-in, during the actual fight a day later, they are having a boost of about 1-2 lbs as they eat more because they already meet the required weight. They surely miss having that big meal after intense training.

Inoue is probably at around 122 lbs when he is fighting in his previous matches after weight-in that's why I have to agree that Inoue's natural weight is around 122. We should probably have the same quick and strength by Inoue against Fulton at 122.

Inoue will be happier in his training since his diet won't be the same as before. I believe he can still carry his speed and explosiveness in his new division. He can also focus on landing his own heavy shots since Fulton is not a scary heavy puncher. What is interesting is if Fulton can take Inoue's power punches or not, knowing how Fulton was able to survive the whole 12 rounds against the heavy-handed Brandon Figueroa. Fulton is also used to fighting the full 12 rounds so he might be able to win a decision if Inoue fatigues in the later rounds.

126 is probably the limit for Inoue and he will be past 30 by that time. So less quickness in both hands and feetwork, lesser stamina, and his opponents will be bigger.
1834  Other / Off-topic / Re: Between a male and a female who needs education?? on: February 26, 2023, 01:56:33 PM
We are in the year 2023 so it makes the question weird. Education knows no gender. Housewife or not, all of us including women should be properly educated. Housewives or even working women are the first mentors of our children. Seriously, I cannot even imagine having a wife without an education.
1835  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: February 26, 2023, 12:56:19 PM
OP you were talking about graduate students, not being able to find jobs. So do you think those graduates could be offered money earlier so they can give up their education? Of course, money is power. But are those rich people in power uneducated? Maybe some but most of those in power are educated. Education can enhance skills but it doesn't stop greedy and corrupt people.

I find it odd to choose between money and education. I will probably choose proper education. Even if I am not planning to become an employee in the long run, I still want to earn a degree in the field that I love most and then earn money thru it.

I'm happy Geek managed to steal a map out of Liquid. That paid for my lack of sleep by staying overtime with the games. I believe they can enter the upper bracket as their last games are manageable but they need to focus and not choke their chances.
Yeah, they've snatched one win against Team Liquid and their first win was really convincing on how great they were.

But on the 2nd game, I think that they've been outdrafted and at the same time, they've been outplayed. Nisha stood out with his TA and how quick the farm he has made.

It's a good learning experience for the Geek since Team Liquid is one of the most desirable teams to be beaten out because they really are considerably a strong team.

Just as we thought that Geek will gain experience and learn a lot in that series against the top seed of DOTA, it headed in a different direction. Geek went winless in their last 2 series. Either Geek's mindset was affected when they were schooled by Liquid in their 2nd map or both Aster and beastcoast figured out how to out-draft them, set the pressure, and outplay them. I'm not sure if they still have a chance in the upper bracket if they can win their last games with BetBoom.

Great games in the next few hours. I'm torn between Shopify Rebellion vs beastcoast or the PSG.LGD vs GG.
1837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MMA Info and Predictions - Bellator, KSW, PFL, ONE... on: February 26, 2023, 11:49:19 AM
A lot of promotions wants to sign Ngannou, but we see no action from Ngannou so far. That is strange imho. The bird is now free, but it does not fly away, just stepped out of the cage and wait. Why do you think Ngannou hasnt signed anything yet? Because he still wants to fight in UFC and waits for a a new offer? When he was in UFC, he talked a lot how he wanted to go boxing against Fury and other big names. To me it looked like his boxing fights are almost organized, and UFC was the only thing that pause him. Now he is a free agent for a month, havent fought for a year. And still hasnt signed anything. The clock is ticking.

I don't think Francis will ever be back in the UFC again and Dana as well does not want to entertain those demands. Most likely the Tyson Fury fight is his biggest payday, maybe $10m? And Fury is scheduled to face Usyk in the first half of this year. Maybe Francis can ink a 1 fight deal in any MMA org or BKFC or boxing. The issue though is a single defeat can cancel his potential Fury payday. Maybe Francis can have an MMA fight against a beatable opponent while waiting for Fury. Boxing or BKFC tune-up might be risky since Francis will surely lose stamina with his heavy arms if he can't stop his opponent in the first 3 rounds.
1838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: February 26, 2023, 10:57:28 AM
I do not think that Caleb Plant has any real chance against David Benavidez. For Benavidez this entire fight is just basically a PR/marketing stunt to do right by his fans and his image as well as his overall boxing career. If it was not for his cocaine embarrassment, this fight would probably never even take place.

He did not take any drugs which would enhance his fighting skills/abilities or training regiments, its just him being punished for being found out. This changes nothing  in his fighting ability, though. Which is why its going to be an easy win.

I see no reason to punish him for his drug habit other than deceiving his fans who bet money on him to be physically and mentally healthy in his fights. His habit might get him in prison or he might have a heart attack. I guess this makes us feel a bit uneasy to bet on him.

A drug test is part of any sports regulation so David being caught positive deserved punishment. And who knows, his family or any member of his family is also part of the syndicate. Do you remember when his older brother Jose another big potential in boxing was shot and hit in the leg? That injury affected Jose's footwork and was stopped by Crawford.

Anyways, I also think David will be like a bull in the ring, too strong and too heavy-handed against Caleb. Caleb needs to hit David with a damaging shot to get his respect, otherwise, David will just continue to become aggressive and might even open himself to lure Caleb's defense. I see a David stoppage in the 2nd half of the fight but I am hoping for the underdog Caleb to pull an upset.
1839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 26, 2023, 10:22:12 AM

Sure he is one exciting boxer to watch while fighting. Even at his age, he is given the chance to win a champ title.
There are certain Donaire fights that really live long in my memory.
He is one best fighter in his prime , but of course all boxer will fade and I believe that Donaire is starting his, but hopefully that he will get it back and before retirement? there will be belt in his name to hold till his gone..

Yes, Donaire will be one of the most memorable fighters in history. Donaire is not just a clear first ballot in the Hall of Fame but If I remember correctly, Donaire was top 2 pound-for-pound by the bible of boxing, The Ring, during his prime years. Donaire also received many awards from boxing's 2 most prestigious groups, The Ring, and BWAA. His unforgettable knockouts over former champions Vic Darchinyan and Fernando Montiel were both KO of the Year. Donaire was also a 1-time Fighter of the Year. So many legends in this sport yet only a few of them are able to receive awards from either The Ring or BWAA.

Back into this fight. Everyone's rooting for Donaire to win another title at this stage of his career and hopefully, he will get it.
1840  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 25, 2023, 12:48:38 PM
If war broke out. It will become a world war. South Korea, Japan, Australia, and probably India too knew that if the US lost the war, there won't be any buffers or protection for them against China.
US is not protecting anyone now either, they are only being used by US for resources and an inflation export destination. Besides it is impossible for India to get into such a conflict, they've already proven that they prefer to sit on the side watching others fight each other while India expands its strength. As for the rest, it is not possible to say for sure which side they will play for in an actual war, there will be lots of side switches.

The US of course always wants something bigger in return. But do you really think the US won't defend South Korea from a possible North Korean attack or a Chinese attack on Japan? Japan is even more important to the US than Taiwan. Or do you really imagine South Korea and Japan switching sides toward China? Or who will stop North Korea from attacking South Korea or China from attacking Japan if the US is already shattered and broken?

Maybe India can benefit from a war between the US and China but in the case that the US is slightly losing, I believe it is more beneficial for India, in the long run, to fight a weakened China while the US is still able rather than letting China recover and reign as the world's new leader. Unless India won't risk a winnable war and ask China to cede those contested territories for it to stay neutral.
