781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anonymity is no longer a benefit of gambling with cryptocurrency. on: August 05, 2023, 03:55:02 PM
Because of KYC verification which is now done by most crypto casino to know the people who gamble on their casino, I think anonymity is no longer a benefit of gambling with cryptocurrency in crypto casino.

Am i wrong to think that this information on the internet needs to be updated.

No- you are not wrong given that majority of the gambling websites require KYC as a pre-requisite for their registration.

Even if this may be the case, there are still some gambling websites that do not require KYC as a condition for registration. Though you somehow run on the risk of such gambling website being genuine or not.

Personally, I would prefer to submit my KYC documents to a designated gambling website that is authentic and genuine. This will at least give me that sense of security and peace of mind that even if they have my personal information, I am confident that they will keep it secured and private without any chance of breach on their part.
782  Economy / Gambling / Re: Whats happening with Betnomi? on: August 05, 2023, 03:01:08 PM
<...>
I believe that it can take longer than we expected, but they will be back and we'll be playing poker on their amazing platform.

With all due respect (and you know I like and respect you a lot), you have got to be kidding here, no?  Huh

Hahahaha! I have to agree here. I don't know what Betwrong was thinking, but I certainly don't believe that after all this time, they can simply come back with something like "Sorry guys, we were on vacation!" and resume their operations. Trust is of utmost importance in the gambling business, and once you lose it, you can hardly get it back.

I agree with your statement- trust is what builds the reputation of a gambling website.

It takes years of trust and effort by the gambling company in order to build its reputation on the market. With all those efforts, it only takes 2-3 mistakes on their part (even one depending on the gravity of mistake) to destroy their hard-earned reputation as they will quickly lose their loyal player base in a matter of days. Unfortunately, there are dozens of gambling websites that take part in exit scams (Betnomi).

Though this may be the case, there are still lots of genuine gambling websites available in the market. While there may be better offers of bonuses/rewards from new casinos, it is still relatively safe and secure if you bet on a gambling casino which has been consistent with their service for years.
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A person who won 600k$ in lottery on: August 05, 2023, 02:15:16 PM
This is also a reminder that money should be valued, and planned wisely, the loss of his wealth is a lesson that no matter how much we receive can be used up if we do not keep and manage properly. Even though his money was exhausted, something opened his mind in the midst of the hardship he was facing, the remaining apartment he owned.

This is the lesson that everyone should remember- even if you are experiencing financial stability, one accident or situation may change the whole situation.

There was a similar story in the Philippines were journalists interviewed several previous lottery winners and asked about their current status. As far as I know, majority of these previous lottery winners went back to their previous lives- some were broke and others were just barely making it every month.

The problem lies with the initial excitement. I mean, of course it is normal to celebrate this kind of achievement as the money you receive can either make or break you. But without any proper financial management, eventually, all of those lottery money would go to waste.
784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are getting innovative. on: August 04, 2023, 09:25:34 PM
Ohh this is very deceiving and definitely suspicious at the same time! The fact that scammers can prepare such task just to scam one person means that they are indeed very motivated to introduce more and more ways in order to gain an opportunity to get those funds.

As someone who have been scammed in the past, it is very important and essential for you to doubt everything. Anything that can be accessed in the internet is prone to scam due to its circumstances and nature- expect these scammers to introduce more ways in the future.

Remember that prevention is better than cure- it is thousands better to prevent yourself in putting in those kinds of situations. With that being said, thank you very much OP for sharing your experience as this will definitely inform everyone about this very deceiving act.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18, holding my bitcoin and looking forward :) on: August 04, 2023, 07:56:06 PM
I am 18 yo
schooling in private college
I flip stuff for cash part time regularly to make some extra cash

I have 1 Bitcoin @ 29k  & I keep about $3000 in cash in my bank as emergency fund

I am actually amazed that an 18-year old person can accumulate 1 BTC at their disposal. The fact that you also allocate your emergency fund implies that you know how to manage your finances. If I had that kind of money at my disposal when I was 18 years old, I would have most likely spent in on other stuff.

I really admire that you also know your priorities as young as 18 years old. You understand the mechanics and fundamentals of BTC and on how it can improive its price later on. Continue what you are doing OP and this will definitely reap rewards in the future.

Quote
I have 3 months study break so I am most probably gonna take on a job to fund the bitcoin , trying to fund as much as I can before the halving in 2024

The BTC halving that will happen this 2024 is one of those key moments that almost everyone is anticipating. With the price of BTC sitting comfortably around $29,000, there is a huge chance that its price may increase, thereby increasing almost everyones's value of BTC in that time.

I just hope I have your resilience and patience when it comes to these things. I am having a hard time managing my finances and I hope I can learn a thing or two from you, OP.
786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: August 04, 2023, 04:19:08 PM
It is indeed quite challenging for someone to be able to quit online gambling addiction, because it is not that easy, even when blocking online gambling ads is not enough to stop someone from being able to stop gambling, they must be completely disconnected from the online world at some period of time to cure their addiction, there is no other way than this. Besides they have to intensively consult professionals, they also need people who will stop them when they want to gamble again. With this they may be able to recover from their gambling addiction.
For a gambling addict, they would not take such precautions but would just let it go. If he had close people around him, those people would block gambling sites on his computer. The gambling addict will not see this as a way to prevent him from gambling because he will not care about this either. This requires the attention of the people around him who want to see what he is doing so that people can know that he has been gambling too long or alone in his room. After that, if these people really cared about the gambling addict, they would make an effort to check his room and even his computer to see what he was doing. And when they find that the gambling addict is gambling a lot, maybe they can do something to warn him.

      -    Usually, even if you tell addicted gamblers to stop their gambling habit, they cannot immediately change it or get rid of it because it has become a routine in their personality and body.

Only their determination and decision can really do something for them to stop or avoid it., that's why other close family and friends to a gambling addict can show patience to help him. Because they can actually play a big part in changing a gambling addict.

There have been dozens of topics being created in addressing gambling addiction but I do think that the only way to resolve this is to actually admit that you indeed suffer from it.

Suffering from any kind of addiction is difficult to change overnight. It is a process that must be followed faithfully by the person and he must be fully committed to change his/her habits from it. I really recommend that switching to another form of activity is a way to at least reduce the chances of a person being fully addicted to gambling.

At the end of the day, gambling addiction has become rampant ever since the pandemic happened. I just hope the government creates programs in order to proactively address these issues as it is slowly getting out of hand for some people.
787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Abuse ... on: August 04, 2023, 03:44:00 PM
~snip~
What is the purpose of quitting gambling when you have lost everything and sold everything for gambling. You have lost your family, your near and dear ones and you do not have anything else to sell for gambling. So i don't think anyone can return from this state of mind and start living a normal life again.

An gambling addiction or a gambling abuse should be stopped at initial stages, else it will just ruin your life forever.
The goal is that we can get back up and organize our lives. We can make our goal enlightenment that we can only get after losing everything. And if someone wants to do it because they don't want to sink deeper into gambling, I think that person deserves a second chance to organize their life. But that person must have a strong desire to quit gambling and start curing his gambling addiction by using all means. He would have succeeded if he had fully realized that he was in the wrong direction by playing gambling to the point of experiencing gambling addiction and intending to change his life in a better direction.

I disagree- anyone can definitely start with a clean slate no matter how dreadful or hopeless their situation may be.

We always have the choice whether to accept the current circumstances or to move-on and start anew. Accepting that your life is just over just because you have lost majority of it is somehow a weak mindset. You always have to remain positive no matter how difficult the situation may be. Sure, you have lost every thing due to gambling but all hope is not lost. There are dozens of people who have fallen to this hole and most have came back up and regained their confidence. I also know some that were able to reconcile and start again with their families.

Again, gambling is destructive but even if you are on the deepest end, there is always hope for improvement and change.
788  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free Condolence Bonuses to Betnomi victims on: August 04, 2023, 02:14:52 PM
         -     It's just funny that a team from another casino here in crypto gambling took a step just to somehow give relief to the gamblers who became victims of Betnomi. I rarely see an offer like this that does not require a deposit, instead they can immediately play with a bonus right away.

Isn't it like Trustdice is making a sacrificial offer for the victims of betnomi? Maybe later you will be exploited by the Trustdice team because of what you said. And as for betnomi it's just sad because after several years of staying here in the crypto space it ended up in this situation and many were affected.

This is more of a legitimate move for their gambling company to offer bonuses to betnomi victims. Since almost all of the betnomi victims are now looking for a new gambling website, this is the perfect opportunity for Trust Dice to enter the scene and provide bonuses for them.

At the end, the amount of profit would outweigh the bonuses given away. Like what most have mentioned, this is a win-win situation for both the players and the gambling company itself.

It just saddens me to see another gambling company be dominated by green and scam their loyal members after everything they have wagered. I guess nothing is truly safe in the internet and crypto sphere in the long run.
789  Economy / Gambling / Re: TRUSTDICE: up to $25 FREE BONUS [NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED] Forum EXCLUSIVE! on: August 03, 2023, 09:55:56 PM
We appreciate your suggestion. However unfortunately that's not a financially feasible option for any crypto casino to implement.

KYC analysis isn't free. You either hire a KYC manager or work with a KYC verification company with whom the operator needs to pay for each verification. Casinos need to balance their financial sustainability and the needs of their users in order to stay competitive in this market where bonuses are becoming increasingly generous.

Most fiat casinos, especially those being required to conduct KYC when the player first sign up, can only offer less generous bonus and demand higher house edge partially for this reason.
KYC on good platforms will not be processed carelessly, but very carefully. Because as legit services, they will have to obey regulations, AML and KYC is part of it. So if they do KYC, they have to verify user documents carefully as they don't want their service will be in problems with governments.

If it is a scam site, KYC will be easily because they don't verify anything, just ask users to submit documents and steal those documents to sell for money. Difference between legit services and scam ones.

Your explanation clears many things, Coinbox1.

You raised an important point. Personally, I would suggest against submitting KYC documents to an operator you know little about. Always do your own research and check the license before doing it as I have heard of fake casino sites designed solely to obtain KYC documents for free and sell them on the dark web. If a "casino" has no valid license, no digital footprints, but asks for your KYC documents right at the sign up, then it is likely a scam.

The internet & blockchain world is a wild and free place, and we should all stay vigilant.

I definitely agree with your statement.

KYC documents are essential elements of privacy and identity of a person. Blindly giving it away to someone you know little can put you at risk of identity theft and breached security. If you are planning on submitting your KYC documents, make sure you have done your research and decided that you are fully committing to this website.

Remember that KYC documents are one of the few requisites that most gambling websites ask. That is why it is better to actually decide which gambling website you are willing to submit it.

792  Economy / Economics / Re: War: who benefits and how! on: July 31, 2023, 06:20:40 PM
I think, bad leaders are the one benefiting from war most because war always give them access to make a huge demand from the government resources that will affect the economy and the citizens of those two party, which they will not use the money to solve the problem in the land. Like the war that is going on between Ukraine and Russia government, if the world peace Makers can investigate the cause of the war very well, you will discover that the bad leaders in the two countries are the one looking for way to loot the government resources. I believe, very soon the war will be over, and those behind the war will be brought to book , and they will definitely vomit what they have consum from the war.
In the war between Russia and Ukraine, Russia is the aggressor, that is, the attacking side. Its bad and bloodthirsty leader Putin would have won if, as he expected, he would have captured Ukraine in a short time. But he miscalculated and Ukraine, with the support of other states, inflicted colossal material and human losses on the aggressor. This hit Putin's image very painfully, and he, and possibly the state itself, will not recover from this.
I am sure that Putin is now very sorry that he attacked Ukraine, but it is already impossible to return to the position before the attack.

I remember there was a quote that said: you may have won the battle, but we have won the war; but everyone lost.

This quote really hits deep when you think about the consequences of war both in the winner and on the loser side. Sure, the winner may have won but at what cost? Money on ammunition, explosives, etc. have been used; lives were lost; and the economic impact which would therefore last for ages would soon hit the country.

In war, the only one that benefits is actually no one. Everyone is lost during the war due to its overall impact to everyone,

which will be a perfect media  to informate and educate ourselves on bitcoin.
Your choice of words in that expression sounds like what I know. I want to believe you're a Nigerian. You can find other Nigerians in our local board here. Whether there or here, feel free to express yourself and don't be bothered by whatever rank difference your find around. Keep off plagiarism and make sure you obey other forum rules. You will be fine if you do all that.

Just to add from what you have mentioned, following and observing the forum rules is extremely essential in order to prevent yourself from getting banned. I also recommend that you also utilize the search bar in the forum to ask anything in particular. This also helps in avoiding multiple threads that have the same question, which was already answered already.

Lastly, I also recommend that you enjoy your journey without rushing things quickly. The journey of BTC is going to be the most fun that you would experience and it is also going to be a wild ride! Best of luck, OP!
794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: July 31, 2023, 03:25:55 PM
Maybe when they are in a winning position, and why they return to gambling is because they feel that making money from gambling is an easy thing than doing a business that requires a lot of effort, a lot of time, a lot of energy and a lot of capital to build, because that's the reason they always back into gambling, and thought that he would get a continuous income from gambling, even though that was foolishness, gambling is a place for fun, not a place to gamble fate.
If they will continue with this kind of mindset they will start to quit their jobs thinking that they already found a passive income which is not. If they did this it will just only gambling with their entire life and career as well. Some people can really create money with gambling those are veterans and they know how to disciplined themselves so there is no problem with that of course.

Experienced gamblers who can control their emotions and can also control their finances, it's important to have that kind of capabilities to lessen the risk of losing a lot, those veteran gamblers are people who take time to learn the process, it's not easy but there are some who really capable in controlling the risk and having better outcome, though the numbers are far lesser compared from those who are losing a lot and unable to control and some are being led to addictions.

This is the potential dangers of gambling- it gives you this sense of accomplishment whenever you win an amount of money. It somehow fools you into thinking that such venture can be profitable but in reality it is not.

Experienced gamblers often have the tools in order to prevent from getting too addicted. Even if they do know what to do, they are still victims of a risky venture. As far as I know, these experienced gamblers view gambling as something that must be done rather than a form of entertainment. With this, they can shift their priority and prevent themselves from getting too addicted in the first place.
795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is Gamble gaining more fans than Bitcoin? on: July 31, 2023, 01:32:15 PM
In the world to day gambling is leading instead of BitcoinBTC (crypto currency) and more are still wanting to join gambling because the minimum age to gamble is 18+ and lot of upcomings are waiting and this is the total amount of gamblers, so let's talk about the crypto currency (Bitcoin) we all know that Bitcoin is a good investment and it has changed a lot in the crypto world but the interesting part is that the numbers of Bitcoin investors can't be compared to gamble and my question is Why? or  is the risk involved in Bitcoin higher than gambling risk?
Just chesk this source

Just to clear your thread, you are asking which is risker- either investing in BTC or gambling?

To answer your question, gambling is the riskiest venture that a person can enter into. No matter how experienced you may be, you are against the odds which cannot be controlled. Sure, there may be techniques and tips in order to lessen the risk but the odds are still the odds.

Some may argue that investing is gambling in itself due to the unpredictability of the result. Though this is true, it only applies to a certain extent since there are methods and factors that can somehow give you an accurate forecast on the price of BTC on the market.
796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: July 30, 2023, 09:23:59 PM
I’ve been to Vegas 3 times and I can tell you now, I have seen and experienced some things that I have seen nowhere else, and I’m quite well travelled too Cheesy

It isn’t really restricted to gamblers, people go to Vegas to party. There are lots of bachelor parties etc, the guy mentioned in the OP may not have even been a big gambler. He’s probably just a guy that got too fucked up. This type of behaviour isn’t limited to gamblers or Vegas in isolation. People get out of control every weekend, life is tough, people like to party but it’s good not to humiliate yourself and get arrested in the process Grin

While we may have our respective rights, this should be respected and used in a way so as not to distract and hinder other people as well. Sure, the person may have won something or be in a good mood but such action does not justify on why he bothered and annoyed other casino members as well.

This kind of behaviour can be considered normal depending on the country where you are staying but it is just truly weird and frightening at the same time. Who knows what other bizarre actions the person may do when he is in a good mood or when he breaks his limits in the future.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sharing your Bitcoin journey on: July 30, 2023, 09:08:37 PM
1. what sparked your interest in this decentralized digital currency. "BITCOIN"

When I first started my journey way back in 2017, I pretty knew nothing much about BTC. I just discovered this forum when my friend told me the opportunities of earning money online while enjoying the convenience of doing it on my personal and free time.

Quote
2.How has your knowledge about Bitcoin evolved since joining Bitcointalk?

My knowledge and understanding about cryptocurrencies (BTC) had grown extensively. Before, I used to be this guy who was just focusing on earning but when I understood the potential of applying cryptocurrencies as alternative payments, my curiosity filled with excitement. I will not say that I am somewhat of a pro- but at least I have a good grasp on the fundamentals of it.

Quote
3.Do you have any advice for newcomers who are just starting their Bitcoin journey?

INVEST! While others may contemplate the time on when to invest, I usually tell newcomers that the best time to invest is when you actually discovered the existence of BTC. The reason is simple- by basing it purely on the history of the price of BTC, you would see a pattern/trend where its price continually increases (while occasionally decreases) on the market.

Quote
4. Are there any memorable experiences or interactions you've had with Bitcoin and Bitcointalk that you'd like to share?

Probably one the memorable experience was when I attended this conference in our country when USI-TECH visited. I was not aware of the existence of these so-called "ponzi-schemes" so my young-self got influenced easily and lost a bunch of BTCs worth $100.

This experience really taught me the valuable lesson of being aware. This also inspired me to become a person who advocates in providing a clean and scam-free forum.

Quote
5. How much help do you think Bitcoin has been of help to you since you learnt about it.

The journey of acceptance of BTC had come a long way. When it was first released, only a few believed and understood the potential of the system. This is also the reason on why at least majority of the users know the 10,000 BTC pizza story.

The help of BTC personally is greatly appreciated given the fact that earning through signature campaigns is one of the most efficient ways of earning money in my country. While the value of money is relative, as someone who is living in a third-world country, every dollar counts.
798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if all forum users exhaust their Smerits? on: July 30, 2023, 08:46:15 PM
There are these so-called "merit sources" that are granted by theymos a specific number of merits (no specific timeframe on when) to be distributed among the users. They are called sources because they have established their credibility on the forum in creating multiple helpful threads and other relevant topics/discussions.

From what I remember, every local board has at least 1-2 merit sources that distributes these merits to the users. They are also tasked to exhaust these merits in order to help and give incentive those people who are contributing greatly to the forum.

In conclusion, if all forum users exhausted their sMerits, then merit sources would be granted an additional set of sMerits which would be distributed again on the forum users.
799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: July 30, 2023, 08:25:19 PM
So why this belief or do you think it could be true? Or is it one of those superstitious belief among gamblers?
Do you feel cool sharing your predictions with other people and how has the outcome been looking at all the times you have shared your predictions with others?
The gambler has staked already, so there is nothing that can change that, it is just a superstition if true that is the reason.

But we can think another reasons too. If I am the person that someone asked to stake the bet that I have staked, I will not answer the person if the person is a stranger or we do no know each other very well like a friend. I can let a my brother, family or a friend stake what that I staked, but not just anybody.

Generally, predictions are personal in nature where you are the ones who had created them. Most of the predictions made by gamblers are carefully planned and thought about by considering several factors that can affect the outcome of the game. While some may find it weird, I think the gambler is completely in the right in refusing to share his detailed information by re-betting his current one.

I agree- again, bets are personal in nature and they should only be casted by the gambler himself. But if the person asking for the re-betting is someone close to me, then I would consider re-betting in by considering the circumstances of the situation.
800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: July 30, 2023, 02:51:04 PM
My main focus on this thread is in this question: as a gambler do you place your bet according to the weight of your financial need or you're always okay with whatever amount that comes out as potential win no matter how small amount?

Neither of those choices- I only bet which is included on the extent of the limit that I allow myself to gamble.

Most of the time, I only set a limit to the extent on how much I should gamble a day. Setting a potential limit for winnings is very dangerous as it may lead to a person chasing profits in a very risky and undesirable circumstances.

For example, if a person has a goal of earning $100 in gambling, earning such amount can be relatively difficult especially if that person has a limited budget. Not to mention, there is that risk of losing more than what you have earned in the process.
