Hi. I am using three 850W PSU (1x corsair RM850 and 2x CoolerMaster V850) to power the neppy. I noticed that the temperature varies on the PCI-E cables: on the CM v850, from PSU side to the Neppy, the temperature decreases along the PCI-E cable: i.e. at the connector to the PSU, it is really hot! in the middle it is warm; and at the neppy side connector it feels normal. I read some previous posts that someone has the connector or PCI-E cable melted. I am afraid my cable may have the same problems. Why the PCI-E cable is so hot (especially at the PSU connector side)? What should I do to prevent it from melting? While the two CoolerMaster PSU's pci-e cable is hot, the cable on Corsair RM850 is not warm at all. Why Corsair's cable is much colder than CM's? Thank you for your attention! I've had more than one melt on me with the Jupiters. The wires on your CoolerMastet are probably 18AWG, and the ones on Corsair are 16AWG which has a higher capacity to carry current. You're going to want to use a fan to keep the wire and connector cool in the short term. In the long term I'd recommend building or buying a wire harness that will lower your risk of a fire. thank you for your reply! Actually both my corsair and coolermaster are using 18awg cables. but corsair uses 8-pin at PSU side, while CM uses 6-pin. I use one pci-e cable from corsair in replace of CM, and the temperature becomes normal. Why 6-pin and 8-pin connector make a big temperature difference?

Usually 8 pin pcie is thicker wire than 6 pin pcie. Also 8 pin carry more power than 6 pin connection. Or same power but less heat depends on how you look at it.

If they are the same AWG, one might have smaller strands than the other. Smaller strands reduce current carrying capacity. The wire may be a different alloy or different material (it could be aluminum..). Another scenario is that the pins in the PSU connector are not as tight, are not well bonded to the wire, or are of lower quality. The wire then acts as a heat sink to the connector, carrying heat away from the PSU along its length. If the wire is a very similar temperature along its full length then it is the wire itself, if it's hotter toward the PSU its only a problem with the connector. Regardless of the cause, hot connectors/wires ultimately are not not safe and can often result in a fire. You'll want to come up with a way to reduce the current through the connector/wire and eliminate the heat source. In the interim, make sure you keep it cool.

I frequently got such error message:
KnC: 3.3.328 disabled for 300 seconds due to repeated hardware errors (the number varies)
Is it normal? My neppy is running at 475MHz and the overal hashrate is around 2.8-3.1 TH/s

That sounds a little low and could be related to the HW errors you are seeing... I just did a write up on what I did to optimize power and reduce HW errors on the hacking thread that should be of use to you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313978.msg7746055#msg7746055

It is normal What matters is pool stats. 7200 @ 475 = 3.42T 3.3T is what I would expect @ pool. Most ASIC have a few core that do not work, and some that kind of work sometimes, and most that work great. With Neptune and 7200 cores the chatter adjusting core is much more than Hoopiter. Older ASIC do it too but you gotta stare at screen longer to see it. I figure it's 1-4% flapping on/off every 5 minutes. over 10 every minute @ 1% flapping. Not ideal but still way over 3T at the pool. YMMV

Admittedly, I was gullible enough to think it was a possibility. Advertising in most industries is similar. Been there, done that, got the Tshirt and stitches. tolip always asks self "tolip you paid for your education, why sleep thru class?" I vow to pay attention in class and think I make progress. Then I find myself in line for another Tshirt. This happens often to bleeding edge junkies. I just decorate with dried blood colors and move on. BFL learned me good though. With KnC my expectations were close to what was delivered. Perhaps I am teachable, at least in some industries! YMMV P.S. tolip is talking to self, about self, in 3rd person again. Place the call!

being retarded in more ways than one is hardly the same as being gullible.
and then 'FREAAKing out' at other peoples comprehension skills while you yourself remain willfully ignorant and aggressively retarded is sadly hilarious.
@Tolip - i dont think im part of any pity party (other than its a pity KnC are cunts), im actually glad i refunded when i did and wish id done it sooner!
YOU, ConMan & probably ElasticBand are the ONLY guys i know of that should have stuck with their orders.
@ ArcticFox 'not caring' that you lost value, thats pretty disingenuous for someone smart enough to be here in the first place. (dont.be.a.phoenix!)
but each to his own, i understand where you are coming from but KNOW there were better options for you that you chose to 'not care about'

Cmon Edgar, you ordered a machine, so you "Drank the KoolAid" too. Nobody would have bought a machine thinking the first Neppie would be shipped on the very last day of Q2... Did you? I refunded my orders as well... I guess were both retarded then.

KfC did some good propaganda, trying to mislead people into thinking Q1 was ever possible. It's not surprising when they were putting blatant and misleading (you could call it fraudulent) info out there: February 2014 Newsletter:"As we are getting closer to the launch date of Neptune"
Seriously, KfC say nothing in their newsletter, leaving their customers scrambling for clues. When customers see something like that, they desperately clung to the Q1 delivery hope. Even I was beginning to think KfC could ship in Q1, until buttcoinorama dropped the "preliminary design stages" bomb and revealed the extent of KNC misrepresentations (aka lies). Then I went back to my original belief that KfC would deliver late, like they have done 100% of the time. It's now the second week of Q3 - they maintain their 100% record of delivering late! Q2 begins in 3 months, 2 weeks.... not seven months... and the ststement said q1/q2, so could be sooner.
KNC have shipped *everything* late. Even, somehow, boards they had in stock So they have a 100% track record of delivering late. That's what I base my numbers on - what they have done over and over again - 100% of the time. They say Q2, it could easily mean "first weeks in Q3". That's totally consistent with what they have done 100% of the time so far. If you think they will suddenly change that, when going out into uncharted water's with 20nm, you are welcome to delude yourself into believing that. It's much more realistic to look at what a company have done 100% of the time to work out how they will perform in the future. People wouldn't believe this when I said it back in Q4, 2013. Well some did, but most didn't and said I was trolling. I don't think 100% accurately predicting when KNC would ship 7 months ago is trolling. It's better to look at what KNC have done in the past to figure out what they will do next, rather than believe any of the misrepresentation/lies/propaganda/deceipt/fraudulent claims they spread in newsletters etc.
