I haven't gotten a chance to try the new version, but hopefully will give it a spin in the next few days, I'm just recovering from doing the BFGminer upgrade on 40+ rigs, and I'm still not exactly where I'd like to be on tweaking them to have the same hash rate that I had with CGminer, but I'm closer (82,000-85,000 kh/s vs. 88,000-92,000 kh/s) nonetheless happy to be back on the latest (or so it was) version of Multiminer!  I'll just obsess until I get every last bit of hashing power back from my cards, if I know they can do it. Of course the joys of tweaking, is many times you cause more issues...  If only I bought the exact same model of every card, I would have such an easy operation! Smiley

Nate, you're too darn efficient and good, I can't believe the updates you keep spinning out for us!

Hey,
I have a few features and other things I want to tell you. First of all, you should have a little section with your total values. For example, if you mine litecoin for a year, it will give the estimated amount of litecoins that you have based on your hash rate and the difficulty and such. Of course it wouldn't be completely accurate, but it would give you a good idea on how much money you have made. You should be also able to change the values of the amount of litecoin you have to be 100% accurate of the exact amount of money you have or have made. Second of all, there should be pool uptime and such (small feature, but would be easy to make and useful). Also, you should add some more fan control features and some more advanced features. For the fan control it would be just like other fan control programs. You could manually set the fan percentage, or you  could make your own curve. That would help a lot because I have to go and open the GPU fan control application every time I mine, and its just another program wasting resources. Maybe some advanced features would be things like automatic GPU cutoff, for when maybe your fans broke and it only rises. If your fan broke while you were away, the GPU would keep mining, because the system would assume the fans are running at 100% at that temperature, so eventually the GPU would melt or blow up. My last request, and would definetly help everyone but maybe a bit hard to make, would be a remote website control or remote program. For the website control, it would run a little webserver that you could portforward and apply a little password or some authentication to it. On the website there would be things like fan control, temperature monitoring, and coin mining changing and settings. Right now, I have to use teamviewer on my pc to control, but it isnt really that great and very slow. From what I know there is no way to control multiminer on the pc that is made by you. Only the mobile app does anything, but all it does is start stop and restart, which aren't very useful at all. My last feature would be inputting your bitcoin or litecoin address to add to my previous request. This would enable you to get the live amount of your litecoin, and then you could compare it to the predictions that coinchoose or coinwarz made.
These features would be highly appreciated and if all of them get completed I will be willing to donate 0.05BTC or 2LTC if they all get completed.
Thanks!

This is a bug in cgminer. You can read about the bug here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg3971916#msg3971916

It is supposedly fixed in cgminer 3.9, though I have not tested it myself:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg4101156#msg4101156

- Fixes for working with proxies that use small nonce2 sizes

Thanks for your reply! I am using bfgminer that is downloaded by Multiminer itself, the cgminer was just a test, and still getting lots of rejections (50%) with bfgminer.

Is there anything i should try?

I've personally never tried Scrypt mining via the proxy in bfgminer so I'm not altogether sure how well it works. I'll add it to my list of stuff to look into. I've personally never had any issues with SHA-2 proxying. Have you tried that as a test?

Maybe - we'll see. Here is my response to another user who requested this:

Quote
I appreciate the suggestion and hope you don’t think I’ve been ignoring it. I’ve been thinking off and on about doing something like this but it’s difficult to add keeping everyone’s use case in mind.

A lot of folks trade coins as soon as they are mined. Some folks keep them forever. Others sell them once a month.

The counter within MultiMiner is an interesting idea (and I’ve also considered wallet integration or pool integration), I just haven’t found a way to do it that is simple and bulletproof.

This is already available because MultiMiner uses bfgminer for mining. Check out the bfgminer readme and search for "fan":

https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer/blob/bfgminer/README

You can enter those arguments under Settings > Advanced miner settings.

More advanced features are already planned for MobileMiner, such as the ability to change the current coins being mined.

My last feature would be inputting your bitcoin or litecoin address to add to my previous request. This would enable you to get the live amount of your litecoin, and then you could compare it to the predictions that coinchoose or coinwarz made.

I may add this as an additional Perk - I'll look into it. The issue here seems like it would require work for each coin that would be supported, and folks are going to keep asking for more coins.

These features would be highly appreciated and if all of them get completed I will be willing to donate 0.05BTC or 2LTC if they all get completed.
Thanks!

I appreciate the thought, but $40 (0.05 BTC) would get you maybe 15 minutes of my programming time. If you'd like to donate for the work already done feel free, but specifically paying for features is going to cost much more.

I've personally never tried Scrypt mining via the proxy in bfgminer so I'm not altogether sure how well it works. I'll add it to my list of stuff to look into. I've personally never had any issues with SHA-2 proxying. Have you tried that as a test?

I didnt try SHA, but i will do it and write back the results.

Thanks!

Currently I am using an 8800GT. I was solomining Litecoin with GUIMiner and was getting 10-12 Khash. My system was a bit laggy, but I could surf the web fine. I started mining Bitcoin with MultiMiner at first and it ran very smoothly with the 8800GT. I stopped the Bitcoin miner and started the Litecoin miner and my Khash dropped to 2 from 10-12. My system became almost unusable.

My question(s) are

1. What about Litecoin with MultiMiner causes the system to become extremely laggy?
2. Why did the Hash rate drop so much from GUIminer to MultiMiner?

Basically I'm just getting myself familiar with the program before my new card comes in. I currently have a Radeon HD 7850 2GB on the way so I can switch the 8800GT out. I know Nvidia cards do not mine well. Will I run to into the lag issues with the new 7850?

I am going to assume it is because I am using the 8800GT, but wanted to make sure I was not overlooking options in the program.

1. What about Litecoin with MultiMiner causes the system to become extremely laggy?

Litecoin (Scrypt) mining in general lags a system much more than Bitcoin (SHA-256) mining. I don't have any Nvidia hardware so I cannot speak directly to the performance of those cards under MultiMiner versus GUIMiner.

2. Why did the Hash rate drop so much from GUIminer to MultiMiner?

AFAIK GUIMiner has various mining backends. If it is using an Nvidia-specific one, such as Cudaminer, that may give better performance.

That said, GUIMiner also tries to pick out the right Scrypt arguments for your card. MultiMiner doesn't. If you click on Settings > Advanced miner settings, you'll see an area to enter Scrypt arguments, as well as a link to example arguments. Give that a shot.

Thanks a bunch nwoolls, I'll see if I can't find card specific arguments for the 8800GT. I won't recieve my 7850 until Jan 2nd, so I'm stuck with the Nvidia  Cry

I've got a suggestion for the Duration display in the History tab. I think it's OK to round to the closest minute for easier reading. Instead of listing the duration of the different coins as 30,05 minutes, 44,9 minutes and 29,97 minutes it would look much better to just print 30, 45 and 30. Thanks Smiley

What are the pros and cons of switching between coins using MultiMiner's profit-based switching versus using a profit-based switching mining pool like MultiPool.us ?

The pros that you always have control on what to mine and where to check for values, and you can have several mirror pools for each coin in case one is down.

The only "con" is that you need to setup accounts for pools, but i dont think it is really a "con" at all.

Multipool.us doesn't support all coins. It has only got five SHA256 coins for example. However Multipool.us' auto withdraw function is very handy.

It's possible to use MultiMiner connected to Multipool.us for coins that's supported there and other pools for the other coins.

However Multipool.us' auto withdraw function is very handy.

You can setup your alt-coin pools to deposit straight to Cryptsy, and then setup Cryptsy to auto-sell and cash out in BTC.

Oh thats great, sorry for not replying any more, i haven't got time to test again =) But im will be happy if this will work. The delivery from aauer is very fast, and its a great product =)

Hey there. Got the TwinFury, identified a few different issues and got some fixes contributed to bfgminer. They will be fixed in the next release or you can grab a snapshot for Windows here:

Today is a good day! I finally figured out how to get the same hash rate as I was previously getting under CGminer while I was troubleshooting one of my miners for a low hash rate.

As I mentioned before, I was using an optimized .bin file with CGminer (from the topic here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=6058.0), and had some decent hash rates. Well, I realized that BFGminer is still using .bin files, but they are named differently than they used to be. So I took the same files that I still had, and copied the name of the .bin files that were created by BFGminer to my old .bin files.

VIOLA! I had my old hash rate, and then some! I had some of my Twin Frozr 7950's doing 700+ kh/s, but tuned them down as power per 2 rigs needs to stay under 19 amps.

I finally can stop obsessing over where my missing hash rate went once I upgraded to BFGminer, as it's all back, and actually have some extra from all the tweaking attempts I made in trying to fix the issue.

That's awesome news! I'll have to nab those .bin files and try them myself. Unfortunately my GPU rig is down for the count while I wait on two different RMAd PSUs  Sad Hopefully one will be back in a couple of weeks but the other is out for 4-6 weeks.

In fact if you get time in the future and wanted to PM or email me I'd love to ask you some HW questions regarding GPU and scrypt mining.

Thanks for the update and for the links to the optimized .bin files.

Edit: Reading through the thread on how to optimize scrypt kernels for specific settings is interesting. Going to see if this is something I can incorporate directly into bfgminer.

I've posted another preview release of 2.3 for testing here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/f9e3o7viy30ntyh/MultiMiner-2.3.0.zip

My primary GPU rig is currently down so I'd really appreciate as much testing as possible from those who have the time. I am very close to releasing this. This update includes more miner details and pool details.
