I do have a question.
How does MuM work with these?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392287.0
I have an opportunity to get one very inexpensive but setup for the stratum to BFG seems likes it's not bad but I wonder how it works using MuM.

I have an opportunity to get one very inexpensive but setup for the stratum to BFG seems likes it's not bad but I wonder how it works using MuM.

It works great with Cubes, Blades, MinePeon, etc. I have a Cube pointed at the Proxy in MultiMiner and it works well with minimal setup.

That said, I would seriously consider before purchasing a Cube. The Cube is based on 1st generation ASICMINER chips that are nowhere near as power efficient as newer chips. They basically go:

Avalon -> ASICMINER -> BFL -> Bitfury -> BITMAIN

That is just a rough idea. So what you are talking about doing is essentially purchasing ASIC equipment that is several generations behind.

That said they do work very well, they are very simple to setup (they do require a PSU). But if you are looking for something like that and can spend more I'd recommend an AntMiner S1. They can run at about 210 Gh/s easily, they ship very quickly, and they have a similar setup to the Cube (with a nicer web UI).

Note that right now the S1 does not work with bfgminer or MultiMiner as a proxy as it has an older version of cgminer built in with a known bug that has since been addressed.

That is good to know I love using MuM and MobileMiner to monitor them.
I know it's older hardware but I have a very tight budget of about $400-$500 total and anything newer is out of my range and then some unfortunately.
I had created a thread here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=420839.msg4587075#msg4587075) asking advice and have been PM'd many great offers from people.  This one is the fastest and best price so far.  30 Gh/s would be a great addition to my small setup especially with the difficulty increase coming soon.
If you have any suggestions in my price range I would appreciate it greatly as well.  I'm having so much fun with this and it keeps me occupied even when I am bed ridden.
Thanks for your help and info as always it is greatly appreciated.  You have made my learning of all this easy and fun.   Smiley

nwoolls:

I thought it would be a mono bug.

Great news re your plan to port MM to Qt! I would never usually install mono under Linux as I can't think of a single good, interesting FLOSS project that uses it - except MM! I've heard GUIminer is supposed to work under Linux too as its python / wx-widgets based but I don't think that has any support for restarting zombiefied/suspect mines like MM has.

mono has always faced an uphill battle trying to keep apace with .NET and its only got worse for them from what I hear. Most of the leading open source projects (KDE, KDEnlive, qtractor, VLC, k3b, mumble, Virtualbox, bitcoin...) and also a lot of non-free cross-platform apps (Maya, Skype, Google Earth) are using Qt and for many very good reasons. Not in the least being its well documented and that Qt now supports Android and iOS as of v5.2 so there could be a potential merge of MM and Mobileminer?

.NET seems to one of the last vestiges of MS lock-in. We don't want or need that sort of shit any more - Qt is the future! Smiley

No idea if this will help, but here is a sample of a reject from the log:

If you get bored pop by #eligius on Freenode IRC. I'm gonna be spending time this weekend working with Luke on sniping Scrypt bugs.

Sorry, I didn't have any time over the weekend, and I typically don't spend any time on IRC (at least now, used to love the bot wars 25+ years ago).

Anyways, would love to help in any way, I can dedicate a couple miners to test whatever you need, just pm me.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know. That may actually be helpful as it currently takes me a while of solo mining with my GPUs against the Litecoin TestNet in order to verify both accepts and rejects.

That said I was able to reproduce the issue this past weekend and discussed it quite a bit with Luke. He has some ideas for addressing it but nothing done so far.

He did manage to fix the issue with the "effective" hashrate in bfgminer (the third one) being wrong for Scrypt. You can check it out in a daily build here:

I have a (fairly) simple feature request.  I have 3 mining machines in-house.  I use an Atom computer to run my Erupters and Antminers, and I use Stealth Runner on my other machines to mine to MultiPool because it automatically changes to the most profitable pool it has.  That's all well and good, but I'd rather use MultiPool to decide what's profitable.

I've found that my Atom runs a SHA-256 stratum proxy on this thing, and I'd like to have the option to have it run up to two proxies, one for SHA-256 and one for SCRYPT.  Could this be done in a future update?

While you're at the update, it's unclear to me how workers work with the proxies, could you clear that up in documentation?

I do have a request in already to add support for multiple proxies, at least one SHA and one Scrypt if not even more configurable.

The problem is that Scrypt mining doesn't work through the bfgminer proxy right now. It's an outstanding bug that needs to be addressed.

While you're at the update, it's unclear to me how workers work with the proxies, could you clear that up in documentation?

You can use whatever worker name and password you want. If you use multiple worker names, when you double-click the Stratum Proxy device in MultiMiner you'll see a breakdown for their performance under Workers on the right.

With release 2.4.0 the antminers are now detected.

Thanks a lot!!!

Another issue i found with Scrypt mining, is that the field "effective" displays SHA-256 hashrate (Gh/s) instead of scrypt. Dont know if still that is a bfgminer issue or a bug inside the software.

An example would be: Average: 466kh/s Current: 482kh/s Effective: 588,48Mh/s

And now, a request that i think might be useful. Would it be possible to add parameters for bgfminer for each piece of hardware? Just like i can do on: Settings->Advanced Miner Settings->Arguments

It's a bug in bfgminer that has been addressed since 3.10 was released. You can test it by downloading a daily build from here but this is bleeding edge from Git:

http://luke.dashjr.org/tmp/code/webisect/webisect.php?dobuild=bfgminer

You can do this already by providing comma-delimited values to the Scrypt and SHA-2 arguments in the Advancer miner settings dialog. e.g.:

Code:
--thread-concurrency 22400,8192

I've noticed that when I switch off BTC to Unobtanium or Tigercoin, it often shows them as being over 200%.  I have auto-mining set to mine based off profitability adjusted for stales, and I suspect that it's not showing the stale-adjusted number on the profitability.  This number also likely throws off the factor for mining the all of the most profitable coins (rather than just the top).

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

When I first got it, it seemed to mine fine in the background while the error is still up.  I terminated it and restarted, and it didn't want to reload.
I deleted the original 2.4 beta, cleared temp files and any reference I could find to it, and re-downloaded from github.
Loaded fine, but the error returned after a bit.

Edit:
Rebooted the computer and fired it up again.  Same error.  If I hit continue, it loads up, but doesn't display my erupters.  When I click 'start' it give me this error:

Code:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

seconds the above poster has the same issue here

Also has noticed I can not send different miners to different coins like in the past

Eg rig one to bitcoin    rig 2 to the dem eg that option seems to have disappered    when you click to set it up as you did in the past it does not come up with the box to allow for it....

I'm betting it's an issue server-side with MM then.

Did something I say help you out?    BTC - 18oTipf66z8dbwTgRCiPjbdPmqEP7zuCFb

I got the same problem. I reconfirmed every settings by clicking OK and reentered any missing ones. Then closed Multiminer. Then reset ati driver to be sure (Simply activate/deactivate graphic overdrive in catalyst, click apply. Do this twice). Then reboot. Now the error is gone and all is working fine. I don't know for how long but at least i didn't have to reinstall everything. Hope this help untill a real fix is found. Data from Perks in blue at the bottom don't seems to appear anymore even when Perks is enable and everything is fine in the Perksconfiguration file. But at least no more error starting Multiminer.
