I get where you’re going, but going into boxplots (which in practice I haven’t seen for a long time) is not going to be picked-up easily, as the terms are not of common knowledge and complicate somewhat the interpretation.

Besides, on an weekly evolution analysis, just seeing the graphical/numerical weekly values and trend seem good enough to get a good sense of what is going on. The outliers have a strong semantical meaning, since they are tied to events such as initial airdrop being spent heavily over the first weeks, and the change of rules for Jr. Member achievement.

What is most important to monitor in my opinion are the flat based absolute weekly values, and their (descending) trend over the last few weeks. The rest is history really.

Stuffs that I would like to pinpoint are:
(1) Medians should be used to present almost true means of statistics, such as merits, activities, postcounts, trust points, etc, rather than means.
Because Means significantly affected by outliers.

(2) Percentage change for each week should be compared between total distributed merits during each week with median of weekly distributed merit.
By now, @coinlocket$ compared two weeks in-a-row. This approach has limitations.
For instance, let's take a look at the following image.
For the week started at 24/9/2018, the percentage change compared with previous week that has 9684 merit distributed in total, is -53,4% (as @coinlocket$’s table shows).
Nevertheless, if we use the median for comparison, which sort of result we can have.
Let’s see:
The median till the end of the week started at 24/9/2018 is  4440 (the first row in my table).
The difference between the week and the median is: 4510 – 4440 = 70 merits
Percentage change is: 70*100/4440 = 1.6%.
Once again, what does it mean?
It clearly presents that the effect of new rank requirements (aims at Junior Member rank) almost tailed off only after two week since the launch day(1.6% higher than median is very low effect).
Based on the given figure by @coinlocket$, readers can easily get wrong overview that the week had significant changes due to something unknown at that moment; but in reality everything probably come back to normal (with my analytic approach).

(3) For trend analysis, I will do it with time series analysis.
Let's wait and see when we will witness a first statistical significant trend break which might occur due to dramatic changes in the forum.

Quote
events such as initial airdrop being spent heavily over the first weeks, and the change of rules for Jr. Member achievement.
By now, there is no trend-break, as we all can see that the change of rules for Junior Member rank has had only temporary effects, which has not lasted too long. Consequently, these sort of temporary effects has not long enough to make a trend break.

No love for us frustrated almost legendary members?  Cry
With your big name, posts you've made, and time you have spent on this forum, I guess 65 merit points isn't that far.

~snip~
Simply one single sentence[1] can express what you are looking for.
[1]- Please give me merit.
I'd say he deserves it for the... 30 minutes? 40 minutes?... that he spent writing this essay! Shocked
But seriously.... You don't have to answer to every post (edit: @aloneboy), without even reading them I guess most of the posts you're replying to are made from bots/spammers, that's because posts made here from old members won't need answering and there are not so many real new members in the forums nowadays.

Overall I agree with the idea, RivAngE, that topics in this thread have largely been batted around so much that answers have been given, several times, especially to some of the basic themes - but sometimes, there still could be some value that comes from another person providing some personal perspective.... .

On the other hand, there are likely a lot of other bitcoin substantive threads (rather than meta), in which personal experience and perspective can continue to be rehashed and to provide useful information to members who are either just getting into bitcoin, but they remain a bit too overwhelmed to go back historically and read the many threads when they are more interested in current bitcoin issues, such as "when moon?"  hahahahahhaha

By the way, I am much more receptive to bitcoin discussions as compared with alt coins and ICOs, yet there are plenty of forum members who would like any excuse to brain storm about some of the other crypto substantive topics that might not be specifically about bitcoin, but they are NOT in the meta section either... such as discussions of merit and rank, as in this thread.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

All you need to do is to report the cases of plagiarism and add as a reference the link to the post with the investigation /proof.
If those cases are legit the users will be banned. You can check the actual status of bans in the modlog [1] or in the Vod's BPIP Project [2].

Just wondering, why are you answering questions from almost a year ago? What is the point of all that?

What I meant here was that you have to click the "Report to moderator" on every copy-paste posts and in the comment field you can writhe something like this >

Quote
Case of Plagiarism, Please BAN! The investigation/reference/proof is in this post > -link to your post- <

This report goes to the mods and when they come to your case they will fix it.This should be enough.
So there is no need to post on other places.

I have made about 250 reports to mods in my nearly 5 years on the forum regarding either suspicious posts, trolling, shilling, or some other seeming forum violation(s).

I don't recall ever receiving any questions or feedback from mods about whether they did anything in response to my "reports"; however, when I click on the "report to moderator" tab, it gives a kind of detailed accounting of my "reports" that 97% of my "reports" were "accurate,"  a bit more than 200 were "good," a few of my "reports" were "bad," and nearly 30 of them were "unhandled."

I cannot recall receiving any specific communication from a moderator about action that they had considered or had taken regarding any specific report that I made; however, I do recall that some of the posts that I had reported were subsequently deleted (assuming that the mods had made such deletions in response to either my report or report(s) from another member(s)).

Hmmm... This merit system seems a little bit unfair. I've been a Jr. User for quite some time now, but since I've not been posting much lately, I haven't received any merit. So... Now my rank has set back to Newbie. That's a little bit painfull, because now my images in threads I've started aren't showing any more.

So, I think I need to post some new quality posts fast to earn my merit.
