thanks for that, doing it now... feel a bit of a div but not used multiple cards under linux b4.... I thought something was up when aticonfig --lsa saw the card :-)

Sorry bud this was my fault. i should of named the kernel something else so apt-get doesn't get confused and install the debian kernel over the top of linuxcoins. If you have anything you want to keep on there contact me via PM and I'll send you my skype address and talk you though recovery.

I know sorry, and you are not him ;-)

I am particularly grateful for all your work on Linuxcoin and as it is clearly identified as beta software I expect bugs and want to assist in identifying them. The fact that you offer to skype me through this was beyond supportive and I really am amazed by the offer. However, it being beta, nothing I can't easily reproduce was on the 0.2-prefinal persistent flash drive and I've re-downloaded the pre-final .iso and have it working persistently.

Now, should I upgrade via the code on page 1 of this post now or wait?

@ CyberPhunk:

I ran my own guide to the letter and surprise-surprise I've got exactly the same issue.

So, quick run trough the lines of the scripts revealed the culprit - there is an extra "&" that you may want to remove, in the startminers.sh, the one that is listed at the end of the last phoenix.py execution.

It should run fine then.

Sorry for the mistake, I've no idea how that got there

Thanks for that, I'm a linux neophyte and had NO clue what was wrong!  Grin

Sounds cool.

Maybe include an option to upgrade to 11.7 or stay with 11.6?

'K, took out the extra & and it still isn't working. Starts up and now it at least tries to mine, but never connects. At least it's not shutting everything down. Wink

I think I'm going to start over from the beginning and see if I screwed something up somewhere. Wouldn't surprise me.  Wink

check the usernames, passwords, the pool's TCP port, also the syntax, even a space at the wrong place will affect it

Is the final up for grabs yet? I seen drgr33n stated he removed the prefinal but I still see prefinal in the downloads section.

Here's a script that will work.

Code:
#!/bin/bash
#Lets setup some global vars
WORKSIZE="256"
CCLOCK="1000"
MCLOCK="300"
FANSPEED="80"
USERNAME="Cyberphunk"
PASSWORD="pw"
URL="api2.bitcoins.cz"
PORT="8080"

#time to start mining
#setup cards
sudo aticonfig --od-enable
sudo aticonfig --odsc="$CCLOCK,$MCLOCK" --adapter=all
sudo aticonfig --odcc --adapter=all
#lets go
cd /opt/miners/phoenix/
for i in 0 1; do # More cards ? just add more numbers. for eg 4 cards would be 0 1 2 3
  DISPLAY=0.$i sudo aticonfig --pplib-cmd="set fanspeed 0 $FANSPEED"
  python ./phoenix.py -u http://$USERNAME:$PASSWORD@$URL:$PASSWORD -k phatk \
  WORKSIZE=$WORKSIZE AGGRESSION=9 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOPS=false DEVICE=$i &
  sleep 2
done

Nice! How do you make the individual terminals for each miner display on the desktop?

Thx!!!

Two questions:

Are we ok to run apt-get upgrade yet? Have the input issues with the kernal been fixed? I want to be sure before doing it.

Also, I am trying to install cgminer, which you said you updated. But when I do it, it says I have the most up to date version. I have .52, but .53 is out.

Yes if you follow the guide on the first post here you should be ok. 1.5.3-git is the latest version via the repo.

FYI I have used this improved kernel in poclbm(phoenix) in linuxcoin and seen some dramatic improvements on my low end radeon cards and a slight improvement on my higher end cards.

Card, prior hash, current hash
5770, 212 Mhash to 229 Mhash(8%! improvement)
6850, 249 Mhash to 251 Mhash
6950, 341 Mhash to 344 Mhash

Can't wait for the upcoming release, Have to see how the new version works, I am still using 0.2.1b. Thanks so much for all the wireless card support, that's what really kept me from using bamt(unfortunately for bamt).

Request:
Could some one put up a guide(in the wiki perhaps or on here) on how to make linux coin bridge its wireless connection to its ethernet port. I tried firestarter and editing connection(changing the ipv4 setting on the eth to shared as suggested by some websites) and still have no luck pulling internet out of the ethernet cord. This would really simplify my miner setup. Thanks for the awesome dist and active development!

Good stuff !! I still recommend upgrading to the final version as some things have gone in that cannot be updated via the package manager. Lots of cleaver caching and some boot parameters to speed up the hang apon boot due to the kernel reading the ELF headers. It is still a slightly longer pause than usual but I think its worth it for all the added security.

Now to work on the documentation !! LinuxCoin-final has grsecurity enabled but the RBAC is disabled. Eventually I will be updating the policies but LinuxCoin can also learn and automatically build security policies for itself !! I'll be updating the wiki as soon as possible. I will also add instructions for connection sharing Wink
